12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

Hmmm I don't think so but mostly because there aren't that many tropes i dislike in the first place, that i would read anyway. Like there are obvious romance tropes like miscommunication or cheating but i rarely read JUST romance fics so that rarely comes up (and when it does its usually handled better cuz romance isnt the core plot so those tropes SERVE the plot instead of being used to prolong the will they wont they). Then there are things like coffee shop aus and such which i dont dislike but i do find unengaging so i dont....read them...basically i dont read enough things i dont think ill like to start liking them hjjhv

Lemme tell you ive been consistent with things i like since i was like 10 THIS BITCH KNOWS WHATS SHES ABOUT. So no i also can't think of any for that. I think most of my trope shifting is going from negative to neutral or neutral to positive rather than from negative to positive.

Seven days just dropped last week and it had a really lackluster reception. Like you can't rly call it deep cut because it JUST came out, but MAN i was really proud of this one, I believed in this one so it really sucks to see it fail so hard. It covers the week before Suguru went genocidal (plus the day of and the day after) from both Suguru's and Satoru's perspective, dealing with slowly compiling emotions of exhaustion and alienation and hopelessness and meaningless and not to be like 'Ker said' but Ker said its my best Suguru yet. This was the fic where I was trying really hard to be more grounded and descriptive, since i feel like my fics tend to lack the sorta, groundedness and realness cuz a lot of them deal so much with emotions the setting itself feels floaty. So i was trying to make the setting somewhat more real. Also I mostly do aus so its rare for me to like go and dissect the characters IN CANON the way i did here (bless ely she told me i made her understand suguru there <3). So its just! I know its long but i promise its snappy and reads fast and please just give it a shot, I'm really proud of it and it sucks to see it fall by the wayside

If yall want something that's been out for a bit and received little attention I always felt Spindle was very raw in an emotional way but also i understand why people wouldnt want to read a fic that is essentially a description of an anxiety attack

Also just shillin this game a bit, a Zelda-like called Horn Of Balance, if you loved Zelda Link to the Past, this game takes a lot of cues and inspiration from it. They recently launched a Kickstarter for it, only got 10 days left and still got a fair bit to go, really deserves some more love, they certainly put a lot of love into this, and hope it meets the goal.

A FARAWAY CITY Hello, Taipei

I would like to believe that life is only worth it if you collect memories that you would carry with you as you leave this world someday. A future nostalgia as you age, and a supercut that will play during your very last breath. Sometimes I think about dying with a smile knowing that I have done it all — but that is still a constant goal right now. And I am really convinced that this memory is one I would remember for always.

I have spent four amazing days in Taiwan with Wence, the boy who’s been pulling my heartstrings for almost a decade now. And oh heavens, it was my first time to travel out of the country and I wouldn’t do it any other way. It was a beautiful core memory to carry with me although at times I still feel like it was only just a dream. It was also an awakening, that life is bigger than you could ever imagine and I am just a dot in this incredible planet.

The Supercut: Hotel overnight. Airport stories. Red-eye flight. Taiwan touchdown. Subway train rides. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Bopiliao Historical Block. 7 Eleven snacks. Ximending walks. Red House x DVD stalls. Met Jai Hang. Blue hour mornings. Coaster Bus rides. York as our tour guide. Met our kabayan, Athena. Yehliu Geopark. Shuinandong Smelter x Golden Blue Sea. Golden Waterfalls. The mystic Jiufen Old Street. Shifen Station. Sundown bus ride and realizing I was happy. Shillin Market. Photobooth moments with Wence. Bought charms and crystals. Warm hotel nights with Wence. U-Bike moments. Din Tai Fung x Taipei 101. Fell in love with Da’an District’s Jinhua and Qingtian Streets. Train to Tamsui. Biking x Sunset Watching at Tamsui. Spa night. Biking x midnight snacks at the hotel. Fong Da Coffee. Longshan Temple. Spent the afternoon biking around CKS Park. Luggage shenanigans. Streetside Noodles for dinner. Train ride back to airport. Another red-eye flight, but every little thing was so worth it.

For someone like me who thought his heart was hardened by life’s mishaps and shits, these moments remind me that there are still a lot of things to look forward to, a lot of experiences to warm your core, and that cliché statement is nothing but true: Happiness really starts from within. I have come to realize that I never want to lose that sense of wonder, to discover more and understand life better.

At this moment, I still think about how life isn’t really perfect after all, that I still might duel with sadness in the future. But let me just capture this feeling for a little while. It may be simple for others but let me just dive into this memory a little longer. For one day I’ll get older and I’ll reminisce those days when I felt genuinely happy.

If this actually ships in April I'll eat my hat (it will almost certainly not) but even with the potential delays a pre-order pay-what-you-can starting price of $15 is ridiculous bargain-basement cheap and I'm worried about whether he's actually going to successfully fund this for publication. Hello your art is gorgeous! What artists inspired your particular art style?

Hewwo! I can't say my style is influenced by anyone in particular, because the artists I have followed for years have vastly different styles to mine, but I'll link a couple that I adore and have followed (and will forever follow) until the end of time! Yuumei - Pinnacle of storytelling without words. Impactful imagery with deep meanings and personal stories that captivated me and made me cry since I was 15. We don't need to speak the same language to understand each other- With Yuumei, their art does all the talking. Shillin - Stylistic, memorable, captivating characters that you don't need to know much about to love, but will appreciate more if you know the lore. Cyanparade - Gorgeous and well-composed, sensual artworks that breathe with a feather-like lightness and brings out colors that pop out of the screen. Honorable mentions not to clog everyone's timeline: rosebesch, kuvshinov ilya! I'd love to do a separate post for friends/mutuals because I love their art SO MUCH and their styles are so different and appealing in very various ways that- but I don't think it would be fair to throw them in here with artists I've followed for over a decade. I also know I'm forgetting some of them but that's all I can remember at the top of my head.

I actually had a french artist that I adored and was my ultimate favorite when it came to color composition, however... he has fallen into the NFT hellscape, which has tainted my view of his work. I sadly can't enjoy it anymore. Yet another male japanese artist (who actually illustrates for the pokemon franchise- or used to :) karma, i guess) recently got into NFTs and it horribly killed my view of their art. I don't want to say their names because I want to keep them out of my mind when it comes to art. Their direction when it comes to art is entirely antithetical to mine from what I discovered when they shifted to NFTS, and I'd like to disassociate them from what I consider "art". Other than that, my favorite games are: PMD Blue/EOS, Bravely Default/Second, GRIS, Mary Skelter 2, Digimon Hacker's Memory, Persona Q and Persona 3 FES, Devil May Cry 3, and Uncharted 4, and Kingdom Hearts Days. All of these are really different in playstyle and overall artistic direction, but what they all have in common is an emotional story or message. When it comes to my art, I focus more on drawing in a way that will evoke emotion rather than what will look best. If something looks broken but fits the artistic direction, I'll leave it in to evoke the emotion I want if it fits the theme (aka broken or exaggerated limbs/bones etc).
