Pretty huge Doughnuts
The word count's droppin', but I'm not stoppin' - @taznovembercelebration day 15. Prompt "baby"
Read below or on Ao3. Missed yesterday's catch it here.
-
“You’re doing what now?”
“Planning Lup a baby shower.”
“Lup’s pregnant?” Barry’s voice is doing something high pitched and weird and Taako’s unsure exactly what the fuck is going on, but someone’s forgotten they have like 8 PhDs.
“Wanna think that through, Barold? Do you think that maybe she might have told you if she’d cracked that one.”
Barry looks less panicked. “Yeah… fair. Uh.”
“Anyway.” Taako ploughs on valiantly, he’ll pull this one out at a later date, once Barold thinks he’s forgotten. “I’m planning a baby shower for her.”
“If she’s not pregnant…” Barry starts.
“Which she isn’t.” Taako adds, helpfully.
“Yeah. Uh. Which she isn’t.” Barry looks pale still, poor, sweet idiot. “... then why are you throwing her a baby shower?”
“It took her more than nine months to birth the thesis” Taako says, he shrugs because it’s obvious, obviously. He doesn't know why literally no one so far has understood. They're definitely the problem.
Barry’s still scrunkling his face up like Taako's being irrational. The joke's on him because Taako's never irrational.
“She’s had a tonne of appointments.”
“Uh huh.”
"She brought new life into the world."
"The necromancy thing isn't part of the main thesis after, you know, the legal issues."
“I meant the concepts, not the zombie. Anyway the university are cowards for not embracing him." Before they get into the ethics of free education after reanimation Taako diverts Barry again. "She had to do that scan.”
“What scan? Wait, Taako, do you mean the MRIs she did for the data collection?”
“Now you get it.”
“I…”
“Cha’boy found this banner.” Taako unfurls it dramatically and holds it up, it’s gold and spangly and far too much, which is, of course, the perfect amount.
“Congratulations, it’s a…” Reads Barry.
“PhD!” Taako replies. “I’m gonna write it in and add flames. It’ll be great.”
“She’ll love the flames.” Says Barry, probably trying to tactfully dissuade Taako from the rest. Optimistic fool.
“I made a game for us where we have to guess the circumference of her thesis. There's prizes.”
“Is the thesis measurement bound or unbound?” Asks Barry far too fast. Oooooh, Taako has him on board now. Suddenly he loves BaPhD showers.
“No can do, Bluejeans, you wouldn’t want to cheat, would you? Wouldn’t want to ruin Lup’s special day by making it all about winning?”
“No.” Says Barry, unconvincingly.
“No cheating, Barold!”
Barry doesn’t say anything. Taako never should have taken Bluejeans under his wing, he’s created a monster.
“What’s a baby snack?”
"Mush?"
"No, like, for this."
“Are you asking what a baby thesis would eat?” Barry sounds more delighted by the concept than he should be.
“Baby researchers, I assume.” Chews them up, spits them out, not that Taako’s bitter. He’s fine. He can come back any time. Any time the police get round to officially clearing him. Not that it’s a problem, he’s not bothered about his degree anyway. He’s peachy. It’s not weird to see Lup get her doctorate before him when they were supposed to do it together.
Barry seems to realise he’s triggered some kind of horror even though Taako's definitely doing an incredibly normal face. He's going to try sand be nice about it.
“What are PhD snacks?” He asks before Barry can say anything kind.
“Pretty huge doughnuts.” Barry replies without hesitation. Taako knew there was a reason he kept him around.
Taako makes a note in his phone. Giant doughnuts mean giant frying, mean big oil, mean big pan.
“Why’re we making big doughnuts?” Kravitz asks, cracking the door to his room.
Of course it was food discussion that summoned him from his regimented work schedule (ignoring what he needed to do because he got distracted by other things and then panic typing up everything for his deadline.) It bodes well for Taako’s ongoing wooing, the stuff about hearts and stomachs was true probably, but Taako was also hoping to make his way to Kravitz’s di…
“Taako’s throwing Lup a surprise baby shower.” Barry cuts through Taako’s wandering thoughts. “We’re planning the menu.”
“Oh.” Says Kravitz. “For her PhD? Neat!”

Astarion in his relationship with Tav did not ignore her words in the house of hope, he will definitely remind about them
"- Really? So all my sweet verified speeches pale for you before the appeal "little mouse" from the mouth of Raphael?"
Astarion usually did not leave his tent until lights out, but this time something made him linger. Tav decided not to wait for him and sat down on the mat and continued reading the last book that they started together. Of course, The Necromancy of Thay attracted the most attention, but the memories of trying to read it were fresh, which is why this creepy book lay untouched, shone with a purple crystal and made indecently many sounds for the book.
- What a little mouse is gnawing pages in my library - Astariona barely touching Tav with his hand drew a line along her shoulders.
Tav looked up from her book and gave Astarion a condescending look, as if after a bad joke.
- If you were an archdevil, it would have a much greater effect - she still couldn't help but smile
- I'm afraid this whim will be the most difficult for me, - he was already sitting next to Tav - I'm sorry to hope that vampires still excite you - he turned his face away from she and rolled his eyes
- You can be sure of that - the book finally fell on the mat. Tav turned to him and gently took his chin and pulled him to her for a kiss.
- And what made you stay late?
- it seemed to me that it was logical to ask a question about necromancy to the Withers, but he does not want to answer them. To be honest, skeletons just look much nicer than skeletons with leftover skin," he grimaced
- This creepy thing does not give me peace - he pointed to the necromancy folio - you need to put it away in a drawer, or give it to the Minsk animal, it's still no use
-We still haven't visited the magic tower in the city, as Gale recommended. Most likely, the solution is very close. A little more and you will send an army of dead on the heads of our enemies. - Tav ran her hand along the horizon and turned back to Astarion - Do you like it?
He intercepted her hand and pressed it to his cheek, blissfully closing his eyes.
- Very like

Gwen and Raph shenannigans
little something that's been on my mind. Also yes, this is exactly what I did in my run of the game.
...
Raphael looked at the pink tiefling sitting in front of him, on his bed, her feet dangling. He sighed, putting a hand on his face.
"Let me see if I understand correctly: You and your friends found a way to my house, entered it without permission, talked with Korrilla, the Archivist, even with a projection of Hope, begging for help, which you chose to ignore."
He continued. "Then you lied your way into my boudoir, tried to bed my incubus and after you refused him, you killed him, his imps, and looted his body."
"Yup." Gwen nodded her head. "That seems correct, although some details are missing."
The devil waved one of his arms. "Oh please, enlighten me."
"Well, I tried to get a passage into your house through normal ways, but that damned diabolist charged too high a price, so I killed her. Then it was how I found the way to open the portal here, since she carried the book with the ritual with her - kinda stupid on her part if you ask me but oh well, it helped my cause." Raphael only raised a brow while listening.
"The little vampire spawn you have is a rogue." He said. "I'm sure he could have pickpocketed the diabolist."
"But what's the fun on that?" She retorted, with a look on confusion on her face. Why would she steal when killing was much easier?
"Anyways, I should make very clear that after I opened up the portal, I told everyone to go back to camp."""But what's the fun on that?" She retorted, with a look on confusion on her face. Why would she steal when killing was much easier? "Anyways, I should make very clear that after I opened up the portal, I told everyone to go back to camp."
"Why would you come alone to a devil's house?!" Raphael asked increduously.
"Gods, you sound like my mother with that tone." She whispered. "I didn't want them to know what I was going to do."
"So this was all premeditated?"
Gwen threw her hands in the air. "Of course it was! I knew what I was doing the whole time. Well, maybe except for Haarlep." The tiefling stood up and walked past him, grabbing a bottle of wine and serving herself. "Anyways, I got here and that Hope girl tried to ask for my help, which I told her no because honestly, what an annoying woman that is." She took a sip from the goblet. "I read the stuff in your house, do not know what you saw in her."
When Raphael opened his mouth to speak, she raised a finger, downing the rest of the drink. "I'm not done yet." Gwen took a deep breath. "Anyways, after she disguised me, I walked around, saw your room full of portals, spoke with those skeletons, told one of them about Moonrise, he seemed happy. Also why the hell did you have Gortash as a kid here? Never struck you for someone who liked children."
"I don-"
"Anyways," she ignored him "Found Korrilla, and I tried to tell her I didn't mean any harm coming here but she only said to be careful. Spoke with that archivist and he said I could go to the boudoir and Haarlep was there." Gwen looked at Raphael. "He said he was an exact copy but I don't buy it. Your noses were different." She shrugged. "I think you look handsomer than he did, but regardless, he tried to talk me into letting him have control over my body and I wasn't going to do that, so I killed him."
"How did you do so, alone and naked?"
"Some time ago I read this book, the Necromancy of Thay. Now I can summon some ghouls to help me." She raised a hand. "Want to see?"
"NO." Raphael shouted. He sighed, pinching his nose. It had been at that moment that the master of the house arrived, while the tiefling robbed the body of the now dead incubus. It was probably not even cold yet, and she had already looted it.
Raphael shook his head. "But why?"
"Why what?"
"Why would you have the trouble of coming here and doing all of this?" Unless she had tried to steal her contract back, Raphael finished the sentence in his mind.
Gwen shrugged. "I've always been a curious woman."
He eyed her suspiciously. What she said appeared to be true, but he still had his doubts. The devil would take the truth out of her. "Were you attempting to steal your contract back?" His eyes darkened. "If you were, that would hav-"
Gwen interrupted him by breaking into a laughing fit, holding her stomach. "Hells no, Raphael!" She exclaimed, as if it were the most obvious thing ever. "Why would I try to do that? I made you a deal, signed a contract, got my end of it..." She caught her breath. "I'm also a woman of my word, dear. If I said I would give you the crown, I intend on doing it to the best of my ability."
Raphael stood there, confused and perplexed. None of what she just said made any sense, neither in the hells or in the material plane.
Suddenly, he felt soft lips on his cheek and a hand on the other. He looked down at the tiefling who had just kissed his cheek. "Well, I'm on my way now, before my friends question where I've been." She walked past him, her tail brushing his leg. "See you when I have the crown." She winked at him and ran away.
He felt the moment Gwen walked into the portal, returning to the material plane. The devil walked over to Haarlep, examining his body and realized...
She took the damn Helldusk gloves with her. Raphael chuckled and shook his head. He would have to speak with Korrilla about keeping an eye on diabolists, upping the security of the house and have her discover what Gwen's favorite dishes were.
He had promised dinner if she got the crown, after all.

Naturally, I was thinking about florelia and their backstories (what else am I supposed to do with my life?)
I was also reading dramione fanfics (again) and it got me thinking abt 6th year Draco being asked to assassinate Dumbledore…
Did I find a way to turn that into a Helia backstory? Yes. Yes i did.
So, I started thinking about first-year, fifteen year old baby Helia being sent to kill Saladin. Going undercover as a Specialist in Red Fountain.
And it’s got a bit of Necromancer!Helia in it. So CW for child abuse, DV and death.
I’ve had this headcanon that Saladin wasn’t always a cheerful/understanding old man. He used to be rather fierce and unforgiving, emotionally detached and tied to duty. I think it’s also canon that he left his ex-girlfriend because she went into the dark arts.
Something consistent in all my hcs about Helia is his parents straight up being on the dark side and working with Valtor (maybe inspired by that one scene with Valtor and Helia). So, Saladin’s son kind of turns on him and the light side and joins Valtor.
This would result in Saladin disowning his son in an effort to remind the rest of the Company of Light where his loyalties lie. Saladin has shown that his reputation matters highly to him so i think this would be fairly in character.
Even go as far as to killing his own son during a battle.
At this point does Saladin know he has a grandchildren? Nope.
So out of fear of Saladin and a new hatred for Valtor for letting her husband die, Helia’s mother takes her kids and goes into hiding. She turns to her family who are Necromancers, begging them to bring back her husband. She’s too weak to do it herself.
Her family was once on the dark side but turned neutral after realising that the Company of Light might actually stand a chance at defeating Valtor.
So they refuse at first but they know that after the battle is over, the light side will shun them out or even prosecute them so having power over Saladin’s grandkids might come in useful one day.
They bring Helia’s father back to life but he’s not the same since bringing back the dead will always have consequences. He’s more evil than before and swears to take revenge on his father. Kind of loses his mind a little from spending time on the other side. Since it took some time, his body also kind of stays in a half decayed state. for the creepy effects..
After watching Vox Machina I can’t help but think of Helia with a twin sister. However, in the case of twins in my hcs is that one of them (the healthier one in the womb) will end up absorbing magic from the other one. So only one twin can use magic while the other can’t, basically making them a human.
Helia is the one with the magic potential, twice as powerful since he absorbed his sister’s magic as well. Also he ends up inheriting the necromancy magic.
Helia is raised and trained by his father to kill Saladin while maintaining the cover that his father is dead.
They both grow up with his mother’s family but they don’t know about Helia’s father’s plans.
Helia of course doesn’t want to kill anyone, but since his father is crazy atp he uses his sister and mother to threaten Helia. Goes as far as to torture his mother to keep Helia in line. But, mostly ignores his sister because she’s useless to him.
He also leeches off of Helia’s powers to keep himself alive that makes Helia rather weak and sick at times, resulting in him having to visit Linphea to get help from the healers. Kind of makes sense for necromancers to work with Healers so they’ve got big connections, aka the royal palace where he meets Krystal. (Trying to tie it all in is tiring but fun)
Helia has a close relationship with his sister. She knows he does his best to protect her but she’s also treated badly for not having any powers. There isn’t any animosity between them but she does envy him. A lot. She won’t be able to fulfil the ‘task’ since she doesn’t have powers and can’t be a Specialist either which she finds extremely unfair.
She kind of has to become a caretaker for their mother who refuses to leave their father because she knows the man he once was but her health gets worse from the torture. Especially since their guardians, their mother’s family, doesn’t know what their father does to them.
So once he turns fifteen, he ends up in Red Fountain, just like any other Specialist. Saladin of course takes note of the resemblance and his magic signature but once he looks into Helia’s background he doesn’t find anything suspicious.
Maybe his records show that he was an orphan. Taken in as a ward. Still ironing out that part.
Helia is of course canonically one of the best students. Catching Codatorta’s and Saladin’s attention. This gets him closer to the professor and they end up sending him on more espionage missions that makes him a better spy. He then uses his advanced spying skills to plot out the best way to unalive saladin.
At some point, Helia starts to remind Saladin of his son before he turned dark. This kind of brings out the guilt he always felt for killing his son without giving him a chance to redeem himself.
The normally strict, fierce and commanding headmaster starts going soft on Helia.
This of course confuses Helia because isn’t this the man ruthless enough to kill his own son? How is he supposed to kill him now?
Codatorta on the other hand is extremely suspicious of Helia and he is the one who figures out who he truly is. But, when he tells Saladin, Saladin decides to not let Helia know that he knows.
When the time is right, Helia is supposed to carry out his plan. But when he does, Saladin is just there waiting for him. He offers to take Helia in, even pardon his mother and do his best to protect him they way he couldn’t protect his son.
Helia is torn and doesn’t know what to do. He wants to keep his family safe and he is terrified of what his father will do. He breaks down and tells all of this to Saladin.
Codatorta thinks it’s all an act but Saladin chooses to believe him. To end the cycle.
Helia realising he actually wants to stay at Red Fountain and that he can be something other than a murderer. That he can actually protect people, be a hero and all that.
Both Helia and Saladin take a leap of faith. Helia accepts.
Helia’s mother is first rescued and sent to Lightrock where she can safely serve her time since she too has started to deteriorate from the torture.
His father is arrested and sent to the Omega Dimension since they can’t actually kill him again.
His sister is missing at first but she finds Helia and is angry at him for betraying their family. She’s mad at him because they took their mother away and no matter how much Helia tries to reason with her, she refuses to listen. She says she would have gone through with the assassination but he couldn’t.
Then she abandons him and disappears.
The news breaks out that Helia’s Saladin’s grandson causing uproar and rumours that he purposely hid Helia’s identity to prevent nepotism accusations.
Having learned his lesson and in an effort to be a better grandfather, he publicly claims Helia as his grandson.
This backfires on Helia who was once respected by his fellow specialists but now they hate him for lying. It caused a lot of issues for Saladin as well.
Helia who is exhausted from everything that has happened and doesn’t know what to do with his newfound freedom, decides to leave and explore the world.
Saladin respects his decision but Codatorta wants him to stay because he’s grown fond of Helia.
Of course, Helia leaves for art school in the end, renounces his magic because he is so done with that shit and then the rest is history.
Phew…
Now ive always wanted to write a fanfic about Helia’s first time at Red Fountain but it always turns into this complicated mess of angst that I decided to just ramble.
If there was ever a sequel it would be about Helia’s sister coming back after years and she’s evil now (maybe even breaks their mother out of prison) but Helia tries to save her and all that. Or his father got out of omega dimension when Valtor broke out. So much familial angst.
Anyways that’s all for tonight. Thanks for tuning in.

Lup and Barry clone Taako
i've been dabbling in taz fic lately, and i started this and realised i only wanted to write this scene, and thus didn't want to flesh it out further LMAO
one scene isn't enough to post on ao3, but it is enough to post on tumblr ;)
It starts with Lup’s hovering.
Her metaphorical hovering, that is, not her literal hovering. It’s been a month, maybe a bit more since they’ve defeated the Hunger, and on account of being a lich with no legs, she’d have to drift from place to place for all that time.
Taako doesn’t know why she and Barry haven’t made her a new body, but whatever.
To be honest, it takes a while for Taako to even notice her metaphorical hovering, let alone be bothered by it. There’s something about being separated for over a decade that’s made it so that neither of them can be apart for too long without getting panicky about it. But as Taako soaks up sister time, his Lup quota fills up a little bit faster every day until it’s almost back to pre disappearance levels.
He’d expected it to be the same for Lup, but she’s still clingy. Still hovering. Metaphorically. It’s obvious that there's something she wants to tell him, and he’s never known her to be shy about anything, so he’s waiting for her to spit it out herself.
One night, when she’s decided to ‘sleep’ in Taako’s bed instead of Barry's, she finally plucks up the courage to ask whatever she wants to ask him.
“Taako. How much do you love me?”
“What do you want?” his eyes are closed, but if they weren’t, they’d be squinting suspiciously.
“Seriously, babe, just answer the question.”
“You’re my heart, duh,” if this is what she’s been worried about the whole time, then Taako’s gonna be pissed.
“How would you like to make that literal?”
He finally pulls open an eye to see his sister, floating ominously above him, “and what the fuck do you mean by that?”
If Lup had a face, she would use it to give him a bashful smile.
“Well… we need like, a lot of DNA samples in order to create a clone, and it was easy for Barry because he always had access to his body but–”
“But your body is dust,” Taako closes his eyes.
“Hey, we’re already technically clones of each other! We just need to do it manually this time!”
“It’s still fucking freaky, though!” he sits up on his elbows, “I don’t wanna go about my day knowing there’s a version of me growing in a test tube!”
“Then don’t think of the clone as you, dummy, it’ll be my body, I just… won’t be in it, for a while.”
“Oh my god,” he slumps back onto the mattress, “when the fuck did this become our life?”
“I think we were pretty much locked in the moment we got the IPRE acceptance letters,” she floats down to lie on Taako’s body, her not-face propped up by her hands. “Seriously, though, if you really don’t wanna do this, then it’s fine. We’ll figure something else out.”
“Oh yeah, like what? Possess some poor schmuck and spend the rest of your days running from Kravitz? No way, this is the easier option.”
“I have a feeling you’re not fully 100 percent on board with this.”
“Yeah, of course I'm not! Who wants to be cloned? But I’m doing it anyway because you’re my sister, and I want to fucking hug you.”
“God, same,” Lup sighs, “and I want to bang my husband,” she ignores Taako’s retching, “it’s just that we have to be really careful about this, now that me and Barry are working for the Raven Queen and all, we have to make sure this is super duper ethical. Cloning is super light necromancy, and she’s barely willing to let us do it.”
“Fine,” Taako raises his hand, “you have my full unequivocal consent to clone my body and bang your husband with it. I just don’t want to see the fucking thing until you’re in it. Do you need that in writing or what?”
“Actually, yeah. Like I said, the Raven Queen is being super strict about it. Kravitz says we’re lucky she’s letting us do this at all. I guess being the saviors of the universe helped us out there.”
“She also has a big soft spot for Kravitz. She’s like his Mom.”
“Aww, really?”
“He can deny it all he wants, but I know the truth. He blushes like a motherfucker when I bring it up.”
“Ha!” She barks out a laugh and sits up, “I'm definitely gonna bring that up the next time I see him,” she floats off him and makes for the wall– doors are obsolete to a lich– but she pauses, turning back to face him. He can almost imagine her face in the empty darkness that is her hood, a reflection of his own, but far more open and gentle than he’s ever allowed himself to be. “Seriously–”
“Seriously,” he raises his hand, “I'm cool with it. Now can I go the fuck back to sleep?”
“Yeah,” she says, soft, with a hint of a smile, “you can.”

Puppet History S5E1- Analysis and theories
Everything about The Professor is so very confusing. We know he got eaten and possibly turned into a dinosaur (we see him hatch from an egg in the trailer) but now he is alive and well....
Or is he ??!
The first strange thing about him that I've realized is his color: on the left it's him from the s1e1 on the right it's him in the new episode.
Maybe it's just diffrent lightning, but his furr looks pale and over all weird.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the more prominent things that show he is not the real professor, or that something strange is happening to him is his glitching and demonc voices
Tumblr media
I also just realized, DID HE JUST GIGGLE??! at first I thought it was Sara giggling
"The algorithm is better than ever" I've seen theories before this episode that maybe the algorithm is sentient and is making Ryan lose every time. I also saw theories regarding this epsidoe that maybe the physical algorithm took over the professor? But why would it let Ryan win this time....? I will get back to that one to
And of course the misterious Box, that adds to every theory while makes them even more confusing, but before I get to the theories I qanted to point out some of his behaivers that I found unusual:
He didn't flirt with Sara?? The two epsisodes she's been in so far he called her "my moon and stars" or called her the most beautiful guest he had.
In addition, the B- ball bit...?? they never did anything for B boys only for C dogs... which might not be much but if I'm already suspicious of him not being the real professor, I'm gonna criticise all his moves.
At first I didn't realize this but I saw people point it out, his weird obsession with meat, we could say it's because the episode was meat centric... but this moment in particular was creepy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is something on the PH set, a ghost? maybe the energy if something is disturbing the environment??
Ryan asks a fair question, I mean the last thing he knows is that the professor got eaten (Ryan doesn't know the professor potential got reborn from a dino egg)
R:"You know a lot about ghosts. Are you a ghost?"
P: "what kind of question is that? come one"
P:" I mean I went through some stuff"
The proff ignores the question and doesn't answers, but we can conclude he went through stuff (maybe through a dino??)
Something shocking happens... RYAN WON?! But this win feels weird, Ryan didn't get a cup, the professor said he is out of it which is unusual because the Devil said to Ryan the professor buys them in batches.... instead he got... a Puppet Cream (I do not wanna know what part of the professor this is if jelly beans is his poop....) It was pointed out to me, that he is very insistent that Ryan puts on the lotion
p:"Make sure you use that a lot.You gotta moisturizer that skin of yours"
and the design on the lotion brings up questions
this design of the professor looks weird, his smile is weirdly mischievous, unlike any cartoonis version of him on any merch, and the weirdest THE EYES, WHY IS HIS EYES BLUE WITH WHITE PUPILS?! THE PROFESSOR HAS BROWN EYES?!
Tumblr media
Now lets look at the end scene with final-girl Ryan, he is trying to bid on the Genies's lap (we know it's the same because in the item description it says it was sold by the devil and a three-headed demon, and it's surounded by jelly beans) this raises so many questions
Why would they sell the lamp? why does Ryan need it? We can see from his open tabs he was looking at "puppet necromancy" was he trying to bring the professor back?
Another thing that confused me is Ryan using Burgess Montclief as his name when buying the lamp. It's the name he came up with in the epsidoe, so are the events that happen in the office after the ep, play out after his lesson with the professor? why does he want the lamp still if the professor is more or less "back" and if it's after the history class, what does that glowy eyed professor doing there?! If it happens before his class is the professor who's teachen Ryan that creepy one with the glowing eyes? why was he in the Watcher hq?Ryan pointed out watcher and the puppet theater are far away!
To add to my confusion, the article Ryan is reading says they found Prof's glasses and hat, but when he gell to the dino's mout only his satchel fell he was eaten with glasses and hat, but in the episode he had all three with him?!
Who is Connie.M why do they want the Genie lamp? (again? for how long has Ryan been chasing the lamp??)
Now to my theories
The Professor is a ghost: He doesn't want Ryan to touch him, maybe because he isn't physical? someone pointed out that ghosts mess up election items and gain energy from them so maybe he uses that box for energy to manifest himself in a way he looks more physical (FBO kinda thing)
He is a hologram, the same way I assume the box powers a ghost professor what if he is a hologram Professor, this can explain the weird glitching we see ,and amongst the articles Ryan is looking at there is one very suspicious about holograms... foreshadowing???
Tumblr media
He might be part dinosaur or some kind of zombie; this would explain his hunger for meat and why he wants Ryan to be soft and moisturized, maybe he is planning on reveng?? but this doesn't explain what is going on with the box?!
He is possessed by a demon or a genie, which would explain his demonic voice, but not the box, UNLESS the box isn't there to power HIM but the box sucks out his energy to power someone else that's why at some point he powered down or feel asleep!
In conclusion I'M SO VERY CONFUSED I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS AND ONE THEORY DOESN'T EXPLAIN IT, maybe he is a part dinosaur ghost hungry for flesh and needs energy from the electric box?!
I know that this creepy thing
Tumblr media
IS NOT MY PROFESSOR!!
Can't qait for next week and and having to analyse even more things !!

My take on a Verandis backstory
Through the forest, she approached him. In her bag, unholy noises shrieked out, and the sound of limbs fighting to tear through the fabric reached far through the trees. In her hand was a knife of cool obsidian. It let off a chill that froze the mist, causing ice crystals to form on her hands. Despite this, her blood did not freeze. The enchantment knew not to hurt her.
Verandis knelt on the soggy moss, waiting. He saw an ant scurry up his pants and brushed it off. No doubt worse bugs were already climbing his back. He would not flinch. He would not look. More disturbing things than insects roamed these woods. As if on cue with his thoughts, he heard a thud.
Vallisare tossed the bag towards her son, and knelt down beside him. It was time. “Verandis, my mother taught me a lesson long ago. Her father taught her the same. Now, I have the chance to teach you. I may have fled my home, but I still hold those traditions with me. And now you will, too.” With these words, she reached into the bag. The creature inside thrashed and screamed, but she did not waver. It was not in charge here, she was.
Verandis braced himself for what was inside. Of course, he knew of her background. He knew of the Corelanya clan’s tendencies towards necromancy and Daedra worship, and of her power. He knew she did things, created things. All at the behest of his father, of course. So it came as a great surprise when she pulled out a fluffy, and very alive, rabbit.
And then she raised the knife.
Verandis watched, frozen, as the creature’s neck was sliced open. The screams were haunting, but even more haunting was the silence as the creature’s life seeped out.
There was no time to waste. There is a sweet spot, where the will can still be bent but it will not fight back. Using magic, she commanded the creature’s blood upwards, towards her son. “Taste it.”
He lurched back. An unreadable expression graced her face. Taking a deep breath, he knew what he had to do. There was no ignoring her command. Out of both fear and respect, and a hint of his love and trust for her, he leaned forward, and took a sip out of the air. It tasted of iron, salt, and energy. Others may not have tasted it, but the life energy was strongly concentrated in the rabbits blood. He felt something… a connection to the poor creature. Like by tasting it’s blood he had taken over it’s soul.
“Do you feel it? It’s life after death is yours now. You know the taste of it’s being, and it’s soul. Now, as it leaves its earthly tether, take over. Command the last remnants of what it once was to be yours. Command it to Rise!”
Verandis felt a surge of power like never before. He saw through the rabbits eyes, felt it’s body shake, and the rush of magic that surged through them both. It was exhilarating, exquisite, it made him feel more alive than he ever was. And when the feeling dissipated, a pair of tiny, glazed over eyes stared blankly at him. He wanted more.
——————————————————————————————————
The altar, soaked with blood and nightshade, glistened with energy. Decades had passed since his young self had the first taste of that cursed magic. He wanted more. He wanted the strength of blood, power over life and death like never seen before. He wanted to retreat somewhere no one could touch him, not the nobility of the Hegemony, not the pressures of responsibility. He wanted the power to do as he pleased. And most of all, he wanted the freedom to run away with the one he loved the most.
Verandis saw power, and freedom, and love, and magic.
The Daedra saw an opportunity.

Ethics of Creating/Adopting/Influencing Sentient Life, as Ignored by the Valar
It's been a steady headcanon of mine that most Valar have their own form of sentient life that they had a metaphysical hand in shaping. Is this because I feel like everyone gets jilted bc of the big three? Yes. Is this how I explain all of the weird one-off things in the Hobbit? Also yes. No particular order here, just vibes.
Manwe: Giant Eagles, obvious, he asked his Parent's permission first.
Aule: Dwarves, also obvious, did not ask permission from his Parent but they ended up splitting custody so a pretty good deal all around. (Also maybe made sure that the possibility for AI was in the Song. Is very excitedly awaiting his robot children.)
Yavanna: Ents, again obvious, asked her Parent's permission, got it, dunked on her husband. Ents are strange because they aren't so much plant-like sentients as decidedly sentient plants. Most everyone but her (and Vana) are kinda weirded out by this.
Vana: Hobbits. With some input from Yavanna and Nessa. I know the prevailing hc in the Hobbit fandom is that it was Yavanna for those sweet Aule/Yavanna Dwarves/Hobbits parallels, but I feel like Vana's Domains fit them better. She didn't (technically) Create them, she was just wanting to make her own People without getting in trouble, and Yavanna offered sisterly advice in the form of "Evolution was already Sung, so if you just guide that evolution a little and happen to get a new People out of it... well, whoopsies, who'd've guessed ;)". Nessa, of course, heard about this and insisted on helping her girlfriend out. No one knows how Hobbits came from Humans, because it makes very little logical sense. This is why. Also she coopted mushrooms from Melkor and those things are if not sentient at least getting there.
Orome: The Beornings. Vana was like "LOOK WHAT I'M DOING :D!" re. evolution (and Magic/Song shhhh) and Orome went "SICK! I WANNA DO THAT!!" but didn't want to put quite as much effort in (he's busy) so he took a group of humans and was like "Ok you can have awesome disney princess bear powers for the low low cost of not technically being human anymore" and they all went "well, best not to reject gifts from gods, also that sounds cool, so sure I guess?" Some adaption/evolution was also involved, which Nessa helped with.
Nessa: See Vana & Orome above. She's the reason Hobbits have the crazy high stealth bonus, and the reason for the whole bear-dancing thing the Beornings do. Also I'm pretty sure she came up with an idea for talking animals really early on, carefully and subtly implemented by her, Orome, and Yavanna.
Tulkas: Giants. Orome and Vana and Nessa were all like "DUDE LOOK WHAT WE'RE DOING ISN'T IT COOL!" and Tulkas was like "YEAH THAT'S SICK BABES! GREAT JOB!" and they were like "don't you want to try? OwO? give us more niblings to dote on?" and he figured "hey, might as well, that sounds dope". He got Aule's help (bc experience w/ sentientifying rocks) and managed to accidentally find a bunch of new loop holes in the "Thou Shalt Not Casually Create Sentience What Are You Guys Frankenstein Or Something" doctrine. Manwe was like "...why" and Tulkas was like "Look, there's not even triple digits of them, their sentience is debatable at best, and it makes Arda cooler. Surely you want Arda to be cool? Also they throw rocks around!" And Manwe had bigger problems to deal with at this point and gave up. This is why giants are fighty.
Namo: Did NOT create sentience are you kidding? It's bad enough that SOME moron Sung the possibility for Necromancy into Arda (interesting as it is he desperately wants to slap the Maia who came up with that idea. it's So Much Work, and ever since Humans first woke up he has been So Busy. this is what he gets for wanting to micromanage the Death system), he's not creating MORE work for himself. He has technically adopted sentient life in the form of Spirits. He staunchly ignores anyone who tries to point this out.
Nienna: Did not create sentience but has adopted the Orcs. The ones that were corrupted elves can heal with a lot (a LOT) of time and therapy in Mandos, but orcs do end up as a separate People. A People who is Nienna's now. They're her babies. (Yes, this is a Threat.)
Irmo: As creator of dreams he occupies a very weird place re. creating sentience, since he's technically actively influencing it at all times regardless. Has not made a People but did very quietly figure out how to make not-quite-Maiar. He didn't make many, but there are a few Wishing Spirits in unexpected places.
Vaire: Similar to her husband, she's too busy to create sentience, and doesn't want that responsibility anyway. Perfectly content with being a mentor-friend to her Weavers, no desire to be a mom.
Este: Has not created sentience but did help Aule work on robot bodies once she learned about his little project. Is not a mechanical engineer, but can pass pretty well as a bio-engineer. Plus she needs to learn how to heal all the Peoples, not just organic ones. (They keep the project quiet.)
Ulmo: He was to busy trying to help the Original And Intended Children to make anything of his own. Did several of his Maiar figure out Fully Incarnate Bodies? Yes. Did they also figure out how to have kids? SOMEHOW, yes. Did these kids become their own People? Yes. Is this Ulmo's problem now? Yes. Anyway that's how mermaids happened.
Varda: She is competent and respectable. Are her constellations sentient? That's between them, her, and her Maiar. She's worked out the logistics on her own, thank you very much. No need for worrying about afterlives or whatnots, she's got it covered. (She just wanted some kids, ok? And it's so much easier if she isn't the only one watching over the skies of Arda.)

*cutely crashing into your house* hey girl~
Listen I've just finished reading "heir to love and lies" and "two against the world" and I'm obsessed with El Fantasma and Nicky
Can I have a request of M3 with mc who's a boss of a Mexican cartel? They are an expert on weapons, Martial arts and street fights but they have a soft side to their loved ones (like Nicky)
Also they take pride in being the youngest cartel boss that ever made the government and other bosses kneel before them (for the sake of the request let's say that mc is about 28 and they've been in the business since they were a teenager) but also not so proud because the only reason they went through that business is to feed their family and provide good life and better education to their younger siblings and they did pretty nasty things in the past to reach that point
Ok thank you bye~~ *cutely jumping out of your window*
*sighs and calls up my woodland critter friends to help me patch up the damages* My poor metaphorical inbox-house
GN!Reader, not explicitly a Mexican cartel thing it's more just a gang/mafia thing, I didn't read either of those stories so bare with me here, nor did I finish watching The Godfather but I saw enough to get the idea
Felix Escellun
Okay,, so I feel like Felix isn't all that opposed to your background honestly. Like, he does necromancy. He is morally questionable and flexible.
Finds your knowledge of fighting, weapons, etc. to be pretty cool! I don't think he'd have as much of an interest in that sort of thing as, say, Anisa, but he'd definitely appreciate how clever you'd have to be to maintain all that.
I think your knowledge of how a criminal cartel works would actually prove to be useful with maneuvering the situation with Escell and all that. Since Felix has never really been interested in the political side of things, your knowledge of power-structure dynamics would actually be pretty useful.
Similarly! I think your relationship with Escell would improve. The two of you can likely relate on several points. He still might not like you per-say, but there's definitely mutual respect. I think he trusts you a little more with Felix too, once he knows what you're capable of.
Florian finds out too of course. I think he feels bad that someone so young had to go through everything you did for the sake of the people you love. Probably good at offering advice and comfort when your guilt bubbles up.
,,,Felix asks you to help him steal stuff he needs for his studies. Better not get caught.
Honestly he thinks you're cool. I think he also lavishes you a bit, all things considered.
Anisa Anka
,,,, okay so,,,,,,,, she's a uh,,,,, she's a knight. A Lieutenant at that. I Do Not Think that she would be particularly enthused about the stuff you've done. But once you explain your reasoning I think she'd be a lot more sympathetic.
Your knowledge of cartels is also useful to her! Obviously Anisa does have a better understanding of politics than Felix, but I also think she wears rose-tinted glasses. She tries to ignore problems within the Sunstone until she's literally looking cultists in the face. She's an optimist y'know? And you love that about her, you really do, but it means she can be a little naive.
She!! loves hearing about your experiences. Holds you during the sadder ones and praises you during the more impressive ones. I think she has a lot of respect for you, honestly.
M,,maybe don't tell Ayanna about it. At least not until she's calmed down with thinking you're gonna become the next LoS. Otherwise I think she's gonna try to use it against you.
Wish we could have gotten a liTTLE MORE INFORMATION AND ALL THAT BUT NOW THERE'S A FUCKING HIATUS
Anyways
I think she's especially interested in your weapons knowledge. She finds human ingenuity super interesting.
Sage Lesath
Alright so I don't think I have to explain how much Sage resonates with that. And I think he really appreciates the fact that you can clearly take care of yourself. It makes him feel a lot better about this whole partnership.
Haha I accidentally wrote 'partnerfish' up there. Yes I know no one but me finds that funny but shh
He uh,, he finds your fighting abilities to be really hot. Sorry not sorry. The first time you beat someone's ass to the ground like it's nothing and he is Completely At Your Mercy.
Simp!Sage Simp!Sage Simp!Sage !!!!! I just really love when traditionally masculine characters are complete lovey-dovey fools and simps for their partners asdgfkrefjsd
I think you guys both feel guilt about the things you had to do in the past. You help each other with that. Sage had to take care of Tulsi and Balsam and Lucan, and you had to take care of your family. It was - still is - ugly at times, but it was worth it too.
I think you're both proud of how far you've come. And you'll get even stronger together - hopefully with your morals a little more intact this time.

_____________________________________
As the days go on, the more and more Ivar's people worry about your presence being in Kattegat. You can hear their thoughts, see how they see you, read how they are trying to figure you out..it is all so much to handle. Now, on top of that, you are getting visions again. But this time, they are not about you and Ivar, they are of his wife Freydis. They started appearing in fragments; the first one was you simply seeing her hovering over you with a bloodied knife and you bleeding from your throat to your torse. The next fragment was Ivar standing over Freydis' body with his crutch in his hand and you still bleeding to death. Then, the third and final fragment was how it will all unfold.
First person p.o.v~
I awake to the creaking of the floorboards in the room that Orabelle had fixed for me. I try to ignore it, but then i can smell a feminine scent, reach my senses. I look in the direction that i think that i can hear the noise coming from, and i see Freydis standing in front of me.
"Freydis?" She doesn't answer me, so i continue to blink until my vision becomes clear, "What is it?"
Freydis "I am sorry.." That is all that she had to say before i could hear her thoughts; she's going to kill me, and she's going to enjoy every second of it. I try to use my powers, but for some reason, nothing happens. It was as if i was a normal human. "Wha-what did you do to me? How is this possible?" When i asked that question, Orabelle comes into the room with tears stained onto her face.
Orabelle "I had no choice Hecate-!"
"What do you mean?!" And there he was, Hvitserk. Standing behind her with a knife in her back. One wrong move, one wrong sentence, she would be killed. What is happening? What did i do wrong?
"Hvitserk?!"
Hvitserk "Hi Hecate.." you look closer and he had been crying as well.
"Why are you doing this? I thought that we were friends-"
Freydis "You have no friends here, Hecate." She said so harshly, but her tone was as gentle as a flower. "Witches like you, have no friends. Witches like you, have no family." Tears started burning my eyes but as she continued to talk, it became rage. "I do not know why Ivar is so attached to you, nor do i care. Hvitserk helped me take away your powers, didn't you?" I looked at him, heartbroken.
Hvitserk "I had too."
"How-what did you do to me?!'
Orabelle "I put a spell over you Hecate. Your powers are gone. For right now, that is."
Freydis giggles, "Precisely." She takes out her dagger and it looked familiar to Ivar's. Of course. It was his dagger. "More of the reason to get this over with, hm?"
"Why kill me? What have i ever done to you Freydis?!" I begged for my life for the first time. I watch her every move as she walked closer to me, hovering over me.
Freydis "A death, for a new life." And in that very second, she slit my throat. My first reaction was to breathe, but i couldn't. Then i grabbed my wound, but it did nothing to ease the pain. I looked at Hvitserk, who was looking away now, covering his face. Orabelle screamed for me, powerless under Hvitserk's embrace. I look back at Freydis, who now has an evil smile on her face. She lingers the dagger above my chest, before slowly digging it into my skin and pushing it fully into my body.
Freydis "I never knew what it felt like to watch a persons soul leave their body. Now i understand..why Ivar enjoys it so much. Don't you Hvitserk?" My vision is waning and i can barely see his face. All i can make out, is his figure leaving the room and Orabelle rushing to my aid. Her hands forming a pattern but she could not finish. Freydis threw the dagger that she used to make my two wounds, into her eye. Killing her instantly. I try to move but i couldn't. I am dying. I am actually dying? The next thing i felt, was almost like a million bee stings going through my entire torso with an enormous amount of pressure. She is stabbing me repeatedly but for some reason, i wasn't dead yet.
Ivar "Hecate- FREYDIS NO!" and that is the last thing that i heard. The last voice that i heard, before i died. What i saw after, was me hovering over my own body, seeing everything that happened after my death. Ivar dropped his crutches and walked his way over to me. The pain in his legs were irrelevant right then and there. Once he got close enough to my corpse, he held my bloodied body and wept.
Ivar "Why did you do this?!" He said with a broken voice.
Freydis "A death, for a life Ivar. You killed our son. So i killed someone that you loved. Well, a thing..that you loved."
Ivar "How could you do this to me?"
Freydis "How could you kill our son?"
Ivar "He was not my son. I am a cripple-"
Freydis "You are right Ivar. He was not your son. But he was still a baby!" Big mistake. That was her biggest mistake of her life. Admission of a lie to Ivar the Boneless.
Ivar "What did you just say to me?" He forces himself upright and grabbed her by her throat.
Freydis "He wasn't your son," she mumbled, "but i gave you what you wanted. And you took that all away! I married you, i loved you, i gave you a son!" He throws her onto the floor as if she weighed close to nothing.
Ivar "Was everything that you told me a lie?!" She doesn't answer, she only tried her best to crawl away from him, "HUH?! ANSWER ME!"
Freydis "I did what i had to do to make you a better king." And those words ripped him open from the inside out. In that moment, she sealed her fate. He fell to the floor in front of her, knowing that he just broke his bones..he did not care. He looked into her eyes and he could see the fear in them. And then he looked back at me, lying dead on the bed, and made his decision. He took his crutch that was the closest weapon that he could use and forces the tip of his crutch into her body. Killing her in seconds. He lost me that night. And that's all i can hear him say in his mind. I lost her, i lost her, i couldn't protect her, i couldn't protect her. Moments later, Hvitserk comes into the room, looking at the death in the room as if he is looking for the very first time. And Ivar said this; "where were you?"
...
You have not told Ivar of this vision yet because you were having a lovely say today. And when it all unfolded, you felt that Ivar would not believe you. You saw him kiss his wife's knuckles during a feast and you decided then that it would have to wait. Currently, you are sitting near the water, with a child showing you her favorite dolls that she made with her own tiny hands.
"These are beautiful."
"Thank you," she whispered, "But not as pretty as you are." She sounds so  sophisticated for her age.
"Thank you, but you are the most beautiful." She smiles, "What is your name, little one?"
"Tauriel."
"It is nice to meet you, Tauriel." She smiles at you. You felt a presence lurkering around but you knew who it was. How? Because his aura is the strongest here in Kattegat. It was Ivar. He was watching your every move. "Would you like me to make you one?!" You asked her, so excited to actually make a friend here. Even if it was a child. You would feel less alone.
Tauriel "Could you-"
"Tauriel, get away from her!" You saw an older woman running towards the two of you, you assume that it is her mother. "She is not natural!"
Tauriel "She looks pretty to me.." she said innocently.
"I'm not going to ask you again, get away from her-"
Ivar "What seems to be the problem?" You see him come up from behind the woman, tilting his head to cower over to her height to make her feel beneath him even more, "hmm?"
"I don't want my daughter around that witch!" She spitted.
Ivar "Hmm.. Tauriel, do you want to stay with Hecate, or go home with your mother?"
Tauriel "STAY, STAY, STAY-"
"TAURIEL!?"
Ivar "you heard your daughter.. the witch..is not a harm to your daughter."
"What has gotten into you, my king? If she wasn't a pretty face, then she would be dead for weeks now." That hit you hard, making you excuse youself. Ivar watched you leave and that infuriated him.
Ivar "I would kill her if she was a threat to me or my people. She is none of those things. Are you questioning my leadership?"
"No, of course not, my king."
Ivar "If you are so smart, what would you do with her then huh?"
"I wouldn't have brought a witch in my kingdom in the first place. Nor would i think that she is safe amongst other humans!" Ivar points his noise in the air, stomping his crutch deeper into the wooden deck, and swallows deeply.
Ivar "Well, you are wrong. Now, if you question my loyalty to my people, or..if you ever lay a finger on the witch that you hate so much, consider that finger to be cut off and fed to your daughter." Her eyes changed from frustration to absolute dispare. "I am a fair king..do not make me do that. Now go." She doesn't hesitate to grab her daughter and run home. He has to find you now, make sure that you are alright.
Once he found you, you were already crying. For a witch, you are quite an emotional one. Which Ivar was not expecting when he made Hvitserk do what he did--what Ivar himself did to you.
Ivar "Why are you crying under a tree, huh?!" You look up to find him a few feet away from you.
"Why do you care if i am or not?"
Ivar snickers, "You know why i care, Hecate. Do not play dumb. You are better than that!" He shouts, using his hands to add drama to the conversation.
"I am not dumb, Ivar. I just hate being hated! Don't you understand?!" He is silent for a bit, before finally making his way to where you are sunken down next to a tree.
Ivar "I can protect you, they are afraid of me." He blurted out.
"It is not your people that i need you to protect me from Ivar."
Ivar "Then who?" You lose eye contact and he lifts your face back up to reconnect it, "what are you not telling me Hecate? Who is after you?!"
"You won't believe me.." you mumbled between your swollen lips.
Ivar "You are the only one that i will believe. You are the only one that i trust. Spit it out!" He looks at your face, waiting for you to open your mouth and tell him what has been worrying you. He can't keep you safe from anyone or anything if he does not know what you do.
"Freydis." His eyes stayed locked onto yours until he breaks it and grabs a hold of your most scarred hand.
Ivar "Tell me everything, and I will take care of it." And that is exactly what you did. You tell Ivar everything that you saw, including Hvitserk and Orabelle. He knows about the other witch now and he knows that Hvitserk did nothing to save you. He takes it all in, absorbing it all and he believing every word. Now, it is up to him on what to do about it. All you want to do is survive. Isn't that what everyone wants to do, just survive?
_____________________________________
As night fell, Hvitserk comes into your room, unexpectedly. You are scared of him now that you know what is about to come. So you tense your entire body, preparing yourself for anything. As he gets closer, you stand up, bracing yourself..but he does not harm you. He notices how afraid you are and he has not seen you act this way in weeks. Not since you first got here. He forces his way over to you, pulling you into his chest. You hesitate to touch him back until you heard crutches come from the hallway, and you see Ivar in the doorway. He leans on his left side and nods to you slowly. In his way, he told you that you were safe. You were okay to hug him back. So you did just that. He sighed in relief as he felt your arm's wrap around his torso.
Hvitserk "I am so sorry. I don't know why i would ever let that happen Hecate. I would never let that happen to you." He mumbles in your hair.
"I saw it Hvitserk-"
Hvitserk "I know." He pulls you back by your shouders so that you can look up at him, "he told me everything. Why didn't you come to me?"
"Would you come to me if you saw visions of me letting someone kill you and me not do anything to save your life?" His eyes fall then and his head hangs. He knew that he wouldn't.
Hvitserk "I know that you don't trust me Hecate. You never fully did." You look into his eyes and you can hear his thoughts, 'i wish that she would trust me-why would i do that to her-i can't let this pan out-i must stop Freydis'
"Don't do that." You blurted out. Getting Ivar's full attention.
Ivar "Hecate?" He starts crutching his way into the room, fully closing the door behind him.
"I can hear your thoughts. If anyone kills Freydis, it must be me. Hvitserk, promise me that you won't hurt her."
Hvitserk "I can't make that promise."
"You must. If you love me. If you care about me. You will promise me that you won't be the one to kill her." He looks at Ivar and he just looks back at him, not saying a word.
Hvitserk "Okay Hecate. I promise."
Ivar "Why am i not the one? She is my-"
"She doesn't kill you Ivar. This is about justice, nothing more. I do not know why-fully-why she wants me dead. But i am not going to wait for her to succeed in her plans."
Ivar "Can you believe that Baldur was not souly mine?" He asks Hvitserk and he just shakes his head in disbelief. "I am not a god, after all.."
Hvitserk "We all knew that Ivar." He snickered, looking back at you, making you laugh a little. "I knew that you were no one but my baby brother, who thinks that he is above all-"
Ivar "Watch the way you talk to me Hvitserk. You didn't save Hecate, remember?" Hvitserk's smirk fades, "I will kill you if this vision becomes our realities."
Hvitserk "And i will let you." He looks at you one more time before lifting your face with his finger forcing your chin upward, "But i won't let anyone hurt you." His voice was soft, "Especially me. I won't ever hurt you. Never again. I can't get that night out of my head. Watching the life fade from your eyes the way it did, it-it haunts me. I won't hurt you, ever again. I swear it." He lets go of your face and walks out the door, leaving you and Ivar to yourselves. Your heart was heavy. You believe Hvitserk, he is your friend. But you know what you saw. Ivar stumbles in front of you, wiping the stray tear that slipped from your tear ducks.
Ivar "What do you want me to do?"
"Never leave me." You admitted as you sunk back into your bed, feeling your emotions take ahold of you. "I know that we both don't believe in the whole soulmate concept but, i don't want you to leave me." He sits down beside you, grunting a little in pain.
Ivar "You don't ever have to worry about me leaving Hecate. I'm not going anywhere."
"That's what everyone said too.. and I've been alone for years. In the darkness. You are my only source of light now Ivar. If your light fades, so will i. Do you understand what i mean?" Ivar's mouth forms a little smile that only you receive.
Ivar "I do," he nods, "and you are my light." He says before he starts rambling about his life again. Telling you why he is the way he is. Not only as a king but as a lover. "You don't make history by being liked."
"No, i suppose people don't."
Ivar "If you know that i am right, then why are you trying so hard to be like everyone else, huh?" You don't answer, "You told me that your biggest wish in life was to be like everyone else. To be a normal human. How boring.." You snicker at that, "You are special Hecate. You are capable of anything that your heart desires. So instead of pitying yourself for being different, change the world." You look at him when he said that, "Change their opinions. Make a difference. My father once told me, be ruthless. That is what i have become. I am ruthless, i am a monster to them. But do you think that i would be where i am today if i was kind?"
"No."
Ivar "I want you to be yourself. I want you to use your powers how you wish to use them. Don't suppress them Hecate. Learn what you can do. Learn your limits. Then we can change the world."
"You and me?"
Ivar "Who else?"
"Mm." You moaned at the thought. But your eyes were still clouded with worry. What Ivar hasn't told you, was the fact that Ivar can hear your thoughts as well. But only yours-only you two have such a connection.
Ivar "You aren't the only one that can hear thoughts.." you look at him with shock in your eyes, "I can hear your worries. Your fears. You need to think about other things Hecate. Fear is the mind killer."
"Will you teach me to be strong?"
Ivar "I will do anything that you want me to do."
"Is that so?" He nods, "then i will take you up on that-" there was a knock on the door when you were going to finish.
Ivar "Who is it?" Once the figure came in, your heart dropped. It was her. "What is it, my love?"
Freydis "I've been searching for you everywhere. I need to talk to you."
Ivar "Can't it wait-"
Freydis "No!" You felt sick to your stomach. Is she about to ask Ivar to kill me? Is this all happening this quickly? "I'm afraid that it is quite urgent."
Ivar "Very well." He tries to stay as calm as possible. If he freaks, then Freydis will not trust him. And she already doesn't as it is. He gives you a look of reassurance and crutches his way out of your room. You start to worry, overthink, fear..but then you remembered what Ivar just got done telling you. "Learn what you can do, learn your limits-change the world." Now, that is your new mission. Become the most wicked, ruthless and the most powerful witch of all Kattegat. If you can have Ivar by your side til the end, then you will become what the gods wished for you to become your entire life: the Witch of Kattegat.

@taznovembercelebration day 29: fire, favorite
“Y’know it’s more than just… learning the magic, right?” Lup said, taking Barry’s hands in hers. Barry flushed but didn’t look away. “I don’t doubt that you know how your own magic works, but when I’ve seen you cast, it’s very, uh. Very stiff. You’re supposed to let it flow through you, not force it out.”
“I’m not sure I’m understanding,” Barry said honestly and Lup made a thoughtful noise, pull her hands back. She flipped through the thick book in front of them and said,
“You’ve got, like, multiple wizard schools n’ shit, right?”
“Yeah,” Barry said. “Uh, mostly on Enchantment, very low-level transmutation, divination, abjuration-”
“Yeah, whatever,” Lup cut him off. “Which one is your favorite?”
Barry blanched, trying to think. Immediately, his mind went towards Necromancy. But seeing as they were five years into this apocalypse-driven journey, Barry didn’t really know if it was the right time to mention that he even did Necromancy. Their home plane had been… hesitant when it came to anything relating to that type of magic, even if Barry had modified a good portion of the spells to not include any type of sacrifice or death or-
Lup was looking at him expectantly.
“Evocation,” Barry blurted out.
Fuck. He didn’t even have any levels in Evocation. He was too scared of burning himself.
“Oh?” Lup said, in the way that Barry knew meant she had seen right through his bullshit. “Sure, yeah, Evocation of course. Didn’t know we shared a favorite class, Bar.”
“Gotta love fire,” Barry tried weakly and Lup snorted, pushing the book towards him.
“Maybe you’ve forgotten what classes you have,” she said. “So one more time, from the top. Which one is your favorite?”
Barry stared down at the book of wizard schools, his heart racing. They had all the ones he had levels on in there, and a few he didn’t. But the second on Necromancy was the shortest of all and Barry could see the words “illegal in many parts of the world” staring back up at him threateningly. When he looked up, Lup was waiting.
“If I tell you,” Barry said. “Please don’t tell anyone else.”
“I’ll… keep that in mind,” Lup said, squinting in suspicion.
“You can tell Taako,” Barry said, changing his tactics. “But- Not Dav. Not yet, at least, I, uh- it’s weird.”
“This is weird,” Lup said and Barry could give her that, yeah.
“Alright,” he said. “Uh, my favorite is Necromancy.”
He watched as Lup processed. Over the past five years, he picked up on the fact that the twins were very good at hiding emotions. However, he’d also picked up on the little ways they showed it. Lup’s ear twitched, imperceptible to anyone who wasn’t paying attention. Barry tried not to think about how she did that when something shocked her. Instead, he thought about the first time he noticed it when Magnus had reappeared on the ship after their first cycle. Fuck, no that wasn’t good to think about either.
“Okay,” Lup said slowly. “How, uh, how long have you been into that?”
“I brought my cat back to life when I was fourteen,” Barry said awkwardly. “So, uh. It’s been a bit. I’m not- look, I modified most of the spells and they don’t even need blood anymore. It’s not bad, or anything, it’s just- it’s interesting! And helpful! Merle can’t- hey, here’s a plus, Merle’s can’t bring people back to life. Worse comes to worst, come get me.”
It was a very poor attempt at a joke. But Lup laughed anyway.
“Sure, dude,” she said. “That’s- yeah, no, this fits, I dig it. Back on task, though. What does Necromancy feel like when you cast it compared to, like, Enchantment?”
She was smiling at him again. Barry’s heart thundered in his chest and he ignored it in favor of making her smile more.

Summary:  Finnrick is called to solve a mysterious case as per his job as the city's only Private Investigator wizard but as he sinks deeper into the case, the more it seems that something is happening behind the scenes. Of course with an old friend in town and dark magic surrounding the case, Finnrick is as busy as ever. Ain't no rest for the wicked.
-----
The Salt-Iron Flats weren’t anything special on the surface: An unassuming apartment complex on the north side of Newton Haven, the only thing most people remembered about the place was how the price tag hurt their souls.
Of course, unlike the general housing market, the Salt-Irons (affectionately referred to by the locals) actually had a very reasonable reason for fetching such a high rate: The salt and cold iron baked into every single brick that formed the building.
If you weren’t in the magical know, you’d think it utterly insane that you’d be forced to pay such a large amount of cash because some weirdo decided to make a new age artistic statement with bricks. Of course, if you are aware of the greater community at large, you’d knew you were paying the insanely large sum because someone decided to make the Salt-Irons the single most protective location in the city.
Most mortals have forgotten their history, their lore and collective knowledge passed down throughout the generations: Why their ancestors used to place lines of salt in front of the door and windows, why the elders always suggested to the braver, recklessly youthful family members to carry iron whenever they ventured through the wild.
Outer beings were repelled by salt and iron. No one really had an idea why fae, angels and demons weren’t fond of salt or iron and there's been plenty of arguing about the subject but all in all the fact remained they did not do well when faced with either.
That was the main reason Finnrick didn’t find himself in the north side of town often.
Well that and the zealous Gate Keepers. Those guys were freaks but between them and the Salt-Irons being the only supernatural community up here, Finn never got a case from the area.
Until today.
The Salt-Irons were great at protecting you from any outside threats that wished you ill will: It didn’t protect you from anything you decided to bring in with you.
It was five in the morning when Finnrick got the call. The M.R.R.D representative didn’t have much to offer beyond the address and floor but he thanked her all the same.
Finnrick yawned tiredly, stretching the tension out of his neck while he sipped his coffee. He let out a sigh of relief as the sun slowly rose into the sky.
The Salt-Irons was a twelve story tall building painted a ghastly pale green that made Finnrick sick just looking at it.
“People are paying how much to live in that shade? I’d ask for discount if I were them.” Finnrick laughing to himself, making his way into the apartment complex.
Luckily the interior was much nicer than the outside: Everything was well kept and cleaned. Not a single speck of dust in sight and the wooden stairs didn’t creak when Finnrick placed his foot on them.
Which was good given Finnrick needed to go up seven flights of stairs.
Finnrick wheezed a little, wiping the sweat from his brow when he reached the seventh floor. He glanced down the hall one way then the other as he began to search for room 707 which basic deductive reasoning suggested should be around the corner.
Finnrick crushed the empty foam cup and tucked it into his coat pocket as he made his way to 707. It was a simple wooden door and immaculately spotless just like the rest of the place. He rose his hand and gently rapped on the door.
No response.
He frowned, checking if he was still alone in the empty hallway and rose his hand towards the door frame.
His eyes glowed with a blue energy as he whispered softly “Revelis”
The door gleamed with a bluish hue for a moment before fading away without a trace.
No protective spells laced over the frame so the only thing Finn had to worry about now if it was locked.
He tried the knob, unsurprised when it swung open silently.
“It’s not breaking and entering if someone’s expecting you” Finnrick justified to himself as he pushed the door in.
He nearly staggered backwards: The air tasted thick and foul like something had been left rotting inside. His skin prickled with anxiety, a chill running down his spine with each step he took further in.
Finnrick took deep, calming breathes while doing his best to ignore the bitter taste that seem to cling the air within.
He noticed the trail of footsteps, perfectly preserved in what appeared to be black dust leading deeper into the living room.
“Hey da! You here?” Finnrick called out, carefully stepping closer “You and ma still married?”
There was a deep grunt of acknowledgment before a voice responded “Sorry son, we’re divorced now. She got custody of you.”
“Well fuck. I guess I’m going to be eating kale and poorly cooked spinach for the rest of my life.”
Garrus Valka was not in fact Finnrick’s father, adoptive or otherwise. He was actually one of the highest ranked officers of the Magical Rapid Response Department: An elf clocking in at 200 years old with richly tanned skin. His bluish gray hair was slicked back in his preferred style. Garrus’s had his back turned to the detective but Finn knew his sliverish gray eyes were deep in concentration as he took down notes about the surroundings. His beautifully inhuman features were marred with a scar on the right side of his face: burnt skin on his cheek, healed by time and various surgeries. An old war wound though Finn never got the full story.
He was dressed in typical M.R.R.D fashion: Dark blue windbreaker, jeans and a blue shirt with the words “Powered by coffee and spite” splashed across the front. His Winchester rifle was slung across his back, ready for any action that may befall the elf.
“Drift.” Garrus greeted teasingly while offering a hand.
Finnrick gave it a playful shake “Da. So is mom here or she trying to smite pigeons again?”
“THEY TRIED TO STEAL MY HOTDOG!” Garrus’s partner Eden screamed from another room “I SHALL BRING MY GOD’S WRATH UPON THEM!”
“You know when they mean justice.” Finnrick called out “I don’t think they mean against winged rats.”
Eden chuckled darkly “You know not their sins.”
“Okay.” Finnrick nodded despite the fact she couldn’t see him “If you say so. What happened Da? Aside powerful necromancy.”
“Powerful necromancy” Garrus replied cheekily “and missing persons.”
Finnrick rose an eyebrow “Persons? More than one?”
“Two: A father and son. Richard Charles and his son Richard Jr. Recluses it seems. Neighbors hardly saw them. Mostly kept to themselves.”
Finnrick pursed his lips thoughtfully “Any magical abilities?”
“They’re not on records if that’s what you mean.” Garrus answered “Never signed up in the academy, not registered with The Council. If they were practitioners they didn’t tell anyone.”
“So what was the spell? I just smell the remnants of spookiness.”
“Hadn’t noticed the rest of the room huh?”
Finnrick frowned before finally getting a good look at the rest of the room: Every inch of the apartment was blanketed with the same black dust that he found in the entrance way. Inches and inches of the substance and that wasn’t the strangest part.
Everything was bent at different and odd angles: chair with crooked legs, the wall clock warped and twisted, the fridge leaning like someone folded it in half. Floorboard reached for the sky and walls split inward.
There was a common misconception about magic. Most people thought spell casters, especially wizards, could command reality to their wills. That magic was capable of impossible feats and it was as simple as snapping your fingers.
The truth was all magic, ranging from divinity to free range nature, was performed on a micro scale. Practitioners did not alter reality but rather shortcut it. Throwing fireballs was as simple as rapidly heating the air until it combusted. Turning invisible was less about vanishing completely as it was bending the light around you to not be seen. Magic was rooted in reality and imagination. If you had the magical strength to perform the magic, the magic often followed your lead.
Of course there were spells that required much more than magical hand and willpower. Powerful magic, like summoning outer beings or raising an army of zombies, required both time and materials. Magic was like any other energy: you needed enough of it to perform what you wanted. The human body could only generate so much magic without dying and resting was necessary to replace any expended in the use of spells. Materials were guidelines for the spell. Feathers for anything with flight, ash for fireballs etc etc.
The other thing needed was to gather energy and store it for the spell’s use. There were different ways to achieve this: Wands, talismans, potions were basically magic soups. The most efficient way to gather energy was the wizards preferred way: Circles.
Finnrick eyed the room closely this time, murmuring under his breath about angles and trajectory. Garrus paid him no mind, well familiar with the private investigators methods.
“If this went like that” he gestured to the wall clock “and that went here.”
Finnrick glanced about, carefully walking about as if worried he was going to step on a landmine.
“Here.” Finnrick found himself staring at a spot in the middle of the room “Ventus.”
He gestured with a hand and light breeze filled the room. It brushed away some of the dust covering floor, revealing the outline of a half melted metal ring.
“What is it?” Garrus turned curiously
“Spell circle. The source of the explosion. I’m willing to bet it’s custom made. Copper, steel. Maybe some bits of tin couldn’t stand the surge.”
“No iron or sliver?”
Finnrick shook his head “That’s for containing or repelling monsters. Necromancy is more about drawing in the evil entities. Or sucking out life.”
Garrus sighed tiredly “Don’t touch?”
“Only if you want to live to see retirement. Might have some pent up magic ready to blow outwards.”
“Understood. I’ll call in our guys. I’ll let you know if something comes up.”
Finn nodded gratefully while pulling out a vial and motioning to the elf “Mind if I do?”
“Be my guest, you might find something we’d miss.”
Finnrick smiled gratefully before scooping up some of the dust and sealing it within the vial.
“Take care Garrus, stop fighting birds Ma!”
“Flying rats!”
-----
The cafe was lively despite being early but that was no surprise given it was Mother’s. Mother’s was the single best food establishment in all Newton Haven and if anyone disagreed, they were allowed to have their opinions.
They were also allowed to be wrong.
Finnrick paused in the doorway, breathing in the scent of well cooked eggs and sweet lemonade. The pop and sizzle of heated grease brought a sense of comfort to the hard working private investigator.
“Finny Drift!” Maddie Copperstone called from behind the counter “How’s my favorite customer holding up?”
Maddie was 40 years young with tastefully curled dark brown hair. Human, little on the short side but fierce. She wore a simple red blouse and jeans, both stained with flour that the apron around her waist did not prevent.
Finnrick bounced over cheerfully, reaching over the counter to give the matron the biggest hug he could muster “I’m good Maddie. Working a case.”
Maddie’s brown eyes searched his face carefully “You always working Finny. You resting as much?”
“Scout’s honor.”
Maddie let out a disbelieving chuckle “You weren’t ever a Scout.”
“Honorary scout after I stopped that bear from eating them.”
“Thought it was a giant raccoon.”
“Yes but people don’t take giant raccoon seriously. He here?”
Maddie clicked her tongue disappointingly but motioned to the booth at the far end of the establishment “Rest.”
Finnrick rose his hand in surrender “After.”
“Never you mean!” Maddie shouted after him.
Amos Frye hadn’t changed much since last he was roaming around Finnrick’s neck of the woods: Handsome with soft gray eyes that reminded Finn of gathering storm clouds. His long black hair was tied in a messy bun held up by a golden pin, a braided strand hung loosely near his face. His beard was much shorter than what Finnrick remembered though he noted the unkempt split ends indicated that Amos hadn’t trimmed it in a few weeks. His iconic dark red sleeveless jerkin and black jean combination would look ridiculous on a lesser man but had allowed the monster hunter to show off his muscular frame. His brown skin was a bit more pale than usual so no doubt Amos had been operating at night lately.
“Finnrick, you cheeky bastard! I am so glad you came!” Amos beamed happily, his various bangles and bracelets clinking together in equally joyous celebration as the two shook hands.
“Amos! Happy to see you.” Finn beamed brightly as he slid into the booth across his old friend “Why though? Family trouble?”
Amos’s joyfully gleam turned dark for a moment.
“No. Have you…?”
Finnrick shook his head quickly “Not a word. Sorry, I hadn’t meant to…”
Amos waved the apology away “No worries cuz. I understand why you’d think that. Coming across the pond isn’t a spur of the moment thing and Os has always been the black sheep of the family. I suppose no news is good news.”
“Right.” Finnrick cleared his throat awkwardly “So what’s the trouble? I doubt you’d call me up for a nip and chat.”
“Rightly so.” Amos confirmed, reaching into the bag at his side and pulling out a folder “Hunting business as usual cuz.”
That made sense: Amos was the latest of a long family whose specialized business was monster hunting. The Fryes had been striking at things that went bump in the night for centuries ever since the first Frye defended the folk of some underground society.
Amos was an average wizard if Finnrick was being generous. That was not a slight against his old friend, it was a matter of fact: Amos spent most of his time honing the physical aspects of his profession which was obvious given the size of his arms. Any spells he knew were purely for defensive or preventive measures so he often communicated with Finnrick for higher quality and complex spellwork.
Finnrick took the folder from Amos and began pouring over its contents.
Most were quickly scrawled notes Amos had noticed about his quarry: Long sliver hairs, canine in nature. Large paw prints found in the areas it had been sighted, far too big to any natural wolf. Wulfvur and werewolf were hastily written and as quickly crossed out. A pattern of hanging out in wild areas, often forests and swamps.
There were pictures too: flashes of sliver, blurs of fangs and muzzles darting in and out of camera frame. It was always a distance away, sprinting deeper into the wildness. It was hard to tell from the photos but Finn guessed it might’ve been 10 feet tall at the very least.
“Why we hunting wolves now?” Finnrick asked curiously.
Amos flagged down the waitress “Contract given to my pa. It was hanging around the marsh lands of the jolly old isles. Someone wanted it gone.”
Something wasn’t clicking with Finn “and you followed it here? From England?”
“Nah cuz” Amos gave a cheeky grin “I tackled it through a portal and found I illegally crossed into America.”
“Ah.” Finnrick nodded in understanding “Fae.”
“Fae?” Amos frowned thoughtfully “I thought that too but I never heard of any snarling wolfie breaking into homes and snatching out wee younglings in them old folktales.”
“Fae are weird.” Finnrick shrugged “Their whole shtick is not making any sense. I had to expel a cat the size of a bus once. Double decker tall.”
Amos whistled in appreciation as he scratched his bread “So fae. Slippy fellow as you can tell. Whatcha recommend?”
“What’s the contract?”
“Banishment. It’s looking like wolfie ended up in the wrong part of town.”
“I think you mean next town over. Fixed a pattern yet?”
“Not yet but I wasn’t looking for one.” Amos admitted “Thought I was tracking some mutant. Fae changes a lot. Magical circles?”
“Easiest way to catch it.” Finnrick agreed “Sliver for sure. Iron would hurt it and based on your files, it hasn’t done anything than thin the local wildlife population. No need to anger mister big bad wolf.”
“Good call. I got some talent to handle a few circles but tracking is not really my speed.”
“I’m on a case but if you swing by the M.R.R.D, maybe they’ll loan you a wizard.”
Amos let out a disappointed sigh “I need to take care this sometime this year Finny. Bloody bureaucracy probably set me back a month at least.”
“There’s always Jaime but she’s pretty busy at work.”
“Jaime huh?” Amos smiled mischievously “I haven’t talked to your sister in a long time.”
“I will curse you.” Finnrick playfully threatened “And not no simple hex either. I’ll make you bald.”
Amos gasped dramatically, clutching at his hair protectively “You wouldn’t dare mate.”
“Shinier than the sun.”
“Okay, okay” Amos conceded “I’m kidding. She’s with Casey anyway. Good couple. Cute couple. He still hopelessly selfless and she still trying to fast track her way to power?”
“Yep.”
“You gonna fix that?”
Finnrick shook his head “It’s their lives. Their choices.”
“Idiots.” Amos chuckled “the lot of them.”
“All you need is love?”
“Spoken true the gospel of my land.”
-----
A few hours later with a brainstorm session completed and a promise to help out the next day, Finnrick left Amos to his work and continued with his own.
It was noon now and as the sun rose high in the sky, Finnrick found himself at the Grimyard.
The Grimyard was the premiere spot for all things magical in Newton Haven: Rows and rows of shops specifically catering to the magic community. The streets were paved with century old cobblestone and the buildings here were various hues of faded brick and mortar. It was easy to get lost in the Grimyard if it was your first time as the Grimyard did not spread out, it stacked downward. Layers upon layers of the Grimyard were actually underground to allow those with issues against the sun to sell their goods and services at all times of the day. Don’t let the dark fool you, anyone with worthy talent or product was here in the Grimyard.
Normally Finnrick would wander around a bit, checking out the various businesses and protective wards around the mile long patch of land but he was on the clock and the sooner he began to figure out what was going on, the sooner he could stop it.
Luckily for him, his destination was right here on the top floor of the marketplace. Specifically furthest back corner.
Knightly Ore was ran by the Knight family. Originally they only sold rare metals and ores which were necessary components for some of the more complicated magicks. At some point the owners expanded into selling more alchemical materials and eventually brewing potions, salves and such for a fee.
Despite decent business, it was the most rundown building in this part of the Grimyard: Broken window shudders with the paint faded down to the original shade when the business first opened decades ago. The humble black door was crooked and creaked whenever it moved
Finnrick knew the owners fairly well but here wasn’t here for them. He was here to see their son.
He pushed past the building, ducking into the alley that led to the lot directly behind the shop.
“Halt!” A voice called out “Who seeks the Brewmaster of the Grimyard?”
“It is I, Finnrick the detective. I got money and I need work done”
The Brewmaster was Theodore Knight, an incredibly talented alchemist who didn’t have the same opportunities Finnrick did: He was pretty tall for his age (14 or 15, Finnrick lost track once or twice) but clearly a teenager given his short lavender hair had a few strands dyed red. His eyes were an unnatural pale blue, paler than the blue of the sky. He wore the usual attire Finn often found him in: A sleeveless dark blue hoodie with a fist sized red gem clasped in front just under his neck and a lighter shade blue t-shirt. He wore black finger-less gloves gripping his brown messenger bag slung around his shoulder. A matching brown pouch hung around the waist of his gray cargo shorts and his brown boots were kept clean despite his place of business was in an alley behind his parents shop.
Theo jumped out from a hidden shadowy corner of the lot “Finn, whatcha got for me now?”
Finnrick reached into his pocket, showing the eager teen the vial that held blacken dust within.
“That’s it?” Theo scoffed, rolling his eyes “I was expecting something…...cooler.”
He took the vial and raised it to the sun. Theo gave it a rough shake and watched it carefully for any properties the strange substance would display.
Theo frowned, clearly unsatisfied by what he saw “You brought me ash? Plain ash? It’s your money but even I think it’s a waste.”
“It’s ash?”
Theo shot the detective a look that screamed how obvious it should’ve been “Yes, ash. Thicker than what I’ve seen but ash all the same.”
Finnrick bit his cheek thoughtfully.
“Look Finn, you know my rates. I dunno what you want me to do but standard fees apply.”
“I’ll paying double.”
The Brewmaster’s eyes narrowed suspiciously “Double for ash? What’s so special about it?”
“Oh nothing." Finnrick pretended to look disinterested “Aside it was taken directly from a crime scene: Necromancy and cast via a half melted spell circle.”
It took Theo a minute to allow the implications of what Finnrick said to sink in. His eyes shifted from suspicion to wild excitement.
“Really?!” Theo clutched the vial like it was his first born child “Necromancy really doesn’t like many alchemy processes. It’s not going to be easy for me.”
“I know right?” Finnrick grinned impishly “It’s almost like I’m going to have to pay double for it.”
“Yeah, you’re gonna have to….” Theo pouted unhappily “Ha freaking ha. Okay smart guy, pay up.”
Finnrick handed over 50 gold. Theo took it eagerly, his eyes lightening up with glee.
Theo paused for a moment, his face turning oddly serious for a teenager.
“It might take me awhile depending on what you want.”
“I want to know what’s in it. Necromancy requires specific ingredients. After that it’ll be easier to track the seller.”
“And the buyer!” Theo blurted out excitedly “Smart.”
Finnrick ruffled his hair playfully “I wish I thought of it. You keep this up and you’re going to run me out of business.”
“I’ll text you when I have something.”
“Pleasure as always Theo.”
“It’s Brewmaster.”
-----
It was 2 in the afternoon when Finnrick made his way back to the Salt-Iron. He stood outside the complex, tossing the remains of his pizza into his waiting maw and crumpling the can of soda he was drinking before tucking into his coat pocket.
“What’s this?” Finnrick asked, utterly confused by the crushed foam cup he pulled from within “Oh right my coffee. I’ve been really at today.”
Finnrick wiped his hands clean and made his way inside the Salt-Iron once more, mulling over the details of the case as he ascended up the stairway.
Blacken ash cast by a spell circle. Both father and son missing with no indication where they went too. Recluses and rarely seen. Necromancy within a threshold.
It was hard to tell how deeply the father and son were involved in spell. Someone who had access to the apartment was behind it no doubt. Spell circles were the most consistent way to cast magic but they took time to build, set and channel energy. You didn’t build a spell circle without knowing exactly what you plan to do with it.
The nature of the magic was also a mystery: Dark magic had various applications and not a single one was good. Finnrick hadn’t much experience with that branch of magic but there was nothing logical about the aftereffects: Ash spread throughout the apartment, clinging to everything like a second skin. There was no signs of an outward blast given that nothing bent in the same direction. Everything in that room decided to twist in whatever wayit felt like. If the spell was supposed to draw in something then chair legs and wall tiles would’ve been pulled directly towards the circle.
“Curiouser and curiouser Alice” Finnrick spoke to no one in particular.
He was on the fifth floor when he noticed something odd.
Finnrick raised an eyebrow as the skies outside the window darken, black and stormy.
A thunderstorm it seems.
Finnrick peered out the window, glancing upwards to see what was going on.
Dark clouds swirled directly overhead. Rain began to lightly drizzle as the skies boomed. Thunder and a moment later lightning trailing across the gathering storm.
A thunderstorm that formed directly above this building.
Without warning.
“Well that’s not ominous.”
Finnrick made the mistake of leaning closer to the window, peering around to see if he could see where exactly the storm was coming from when it happened.
“Watch out below!”
Finnrick noticed three things in that moment: First, was of course, someone shouting to watch out below. Second was the distant sound of claws scratching something wooden, the walls perhaps. Lastly was the thudding of something falling down quickly and towards him.
Finnrick rose his hand, pivoting on his heels in time to see something crash into him.
It wasn’t much of a contest: Both Finnrick and whatever slammed into him broke through the fifth story window and went sprawling into a freefall.

sun & moon || part one
When her mother and father said they were moving to Tal'Dorei, Diana was beyond excited. She had not enjoyed running from the Dwendalian Empire, and to finally be able to settle back in would be good. Perhaps she could even continue her studies away from her mother and father. Delilah would fret if she learned that Diana had not been studying the arcane and instead studying the limits of her own body.
Ignoring her mother and father's hushed whispers, she pressed her hands against the glass of their cabin and got her face as close to the glass without squishing it. Whitestone was beautiful, and Diana marvelled at the beauty of the place. She only hoped where-ever they moved would be as interesting as this place.
But there was one thing that her hazel eyes latched on, and that was the gleaming tree in the centre of the city.
"Mother?"
"Yes Diana?" Delilah sighed, pausing her conversation.
"That tree, do you know if they have a name for it here?" Diana asked with wonder.
"Why yes of course. They call it the Sun Tree. It's a symbol of Pelor." Delilah scoffed. "Incredibly gaudy if you ask me."
Diana shut her mouth, refraining from sharing her thoughts.
I think its beautiful, Mother.
Their carriage finally stopped at Castle Whitestone as Sylas had told her. Smoothing the ruffled black skirt of her ankle-length dress, she nervously took a few greedy breaths.
"You're nervous." Sylas said, looking at Diana.
"You said there are many De Rolo children, I'm worried that they won't like me. You and mother always said that making a good impression is important." Diana muttered, leaning into her father a little more. She was still startled by the fact that her father had almost not made it back from the brink of death. Thankfully her mother's healing spell had brought Sylas back, but not before they were chased out of the Empire due to the necromantic nature of the healing spell.
What was so wrong about a little necromancy?
"You won't need to worry about an impression darling." Sylas cooed, brushing his gloved fingers underneath her chin. "You are a Briarwood. You are perfect. You are royalty."
Diana did not expect the "family dinner" with the De Rolo's to go this way. How could she know that her parents and Anna were planning a bloody coup. When Delilah ordered her to use her magic, Diana refused and tried to get answers from her parents, which ended where she was know.
Magically locked in her new room so she wouldn't be a distraction.
Diana had practically ripped off the dress her mother gave her, and now sat curled up in the centre of her new bed. Wearing one of her older grey nightgown, she curled up a little more.
The screams had died out now, the castle eerily silent. Diana couldn't get the image of the De Rolo family out of her head, the moment before the sword went through Lord De Rolo's head.
Whispers outside of her room caught her ear.
"...caught two of the kids......in a cell now....."
Diana's heart picked up. Two of the De Rolo kids were still alive. And that's when the thought hit her. If she was going to be stuck here, living in this massacre, maybe she could help the other two get out. Then they could send word to the powers of Tal'Dorei and take out her parents and Anna.
She was barely a teenager, but she knew she could do something. Quickly going through her belongings, she began to make inventory of her things. She'd have to give it a few days, but she could gather what she needed to break them out. After all, picking locks and punching shit was her speciality.
It took a week before Diana got a sizeable enough gap to break the De Rolo's out. In that time, she had to play up her dutiful daughter nature and pretend that she had come to terms with the coup. She used the act that everyone bought into to scope out the cells and find an escape route.
She also saw which children she was helping escape, and it hurt the more she thought about it. Percival, the older boy who had his head buried in a book, and Cassandra, the girl who was the same age as Diana.
Finally, night fell. Equipped with her tools, she began to sneak into the basement. Slipping past a fallen-asleep guard and pocketing his keys, she found her way to Percival and Cassandra's cell. Pulling out the key, she slid into the lock and opened the cage.
The door opening quietly rose the siblings from slumber as Diana slid the keys back across the floor towards the guard around the corner. Instead of seeing Anna or Delilah like they normally would, both siblings woke confused and scared at a the sight of Diana. The last they had seen of the girl for the maybe 30 minutes they had met her, she had been screaming and crying as the slaughter commenced.
"What do you want?" Percival's hoarse voice whispered with venom.
"To get you guys out. Come on, we don't have a lot of time. We need to go!" Diana whispered, making sure to watch out for any guards.
Percival and Cassandra shared a glance before getting to their feet, stumbling a little from the lack of nutrition. Diana grabbed Percival's hand as he grabbed his sister's, and began guiding them out.
"Why are you doing this?" Percival asked, looking at Diana in utter confusion.
"Because you guys need to get out. Get help for your city and get the adults of Tal'Dorei to do something. Because a teenager and two tweens aren't going to be able to do anything." Diana whispered, tugging them through a secret door as they stepped into the dark night. "We need to get to the tree line. I have two horses waiting for you guys, and put these on quick."
Diana pulled from within her own cloak, two black cloaks to hide the siblings pale physique.
"What about you?" Cassandra asked. "Where's your horse?"
Diana smiled sadly, "If I left they'd set out on a manhunt. I need to make it look like I was never here lest they punish me again."
"But-" Cassandra started as Percival threw a cloak over her.
"I need to bide my time and wait for outside support. I can't do anything against my mother and her magic."
"Thank you." Percival said, all three of them now in dark cloaks. "Are we ready?"
Diana looked up at the castle walls, watching as the lone guard on this side of the castle turned their back, she nodded.
"Run!"

Good Help - chapter 4 - ao3 link
-
The day Wen Ruohan returned, Meng Yao felt ready for just about anything short of an immediate order of execution. He had survived an increasingly frantic set of attempts to murder him – in many instances, his survival was entirely courtesy of A-Jue – and had a list of achievements as long as his arm, each one backed with public recognition and an explanation as to how they fit into Wen Ruohan’s pre-existing orders.
He'd disposed of any dissenters, too.
The return ceremony was no time for someone to blurt out something awkward.
It was intricately planned: first the multitude out in the Nightless City, cheering their Emperor’s return, then the procession through the court with all its ministers and representatives of all the other Great Sects, and finally the entrance to the throne room, which would contain only those most important to the Emperor: his closest deputies, his wives and concubines, and of course the Empress far above them all in her sedate chair.
And Meng Yao, of course.
The innermost hall would be guarded by those guards assigned to it, an honor that they all lusted for, and Meng Yao had abrogated the right of the guard captain to select each of them himself, claiming that all of the disasters in the past few weeks had shown him the need to take especial care of their beloved Emperor’s life.
He didn’t select A-Jue.
He hadn’t even looked for his name in the list. He'd rather deliberately planned on A-Jue not attending, in fact, and A-Jue hadn’t questioned it, only saluted with a bow deeper than any of the (usually ironic and highly irreverent) ones that had come before. Their eyes had met briefly – a glance full of regret, regret and understanding – and they had said no more about it, each going their own way that evening as if everything were the same.
And then, in the morning…
A-Jue had not come.
Meng Yao had not permitted himself to be disappointed.
He’d turned his mind to other things, to preparations, to making sure everything was perfect, and it was. He’d worried briefly about the Empress, that she might refuse to leave seclusion, but she was there before he was, seated and waiting in her place, a larger than life statue in her thousand veiled layers as always. He’d stressed over the placement of the guards, but they were there, shining and immaculate as always, each one carefully selected for their talent at discretion. He’d checked over his multiple plans designed to let him survive.
He was as ready as he could ever be.
Wen Ruohan’s procession took an age, the concubines in the inner hall yawning and shifting from leg to leg, the veiled Empress as unmoving as stone. Meng Yao took her as his model and remained still, refusing to show weakness.
And then –
The Emperor walked in through the doors, a swirl of robes, and no matter how much Meng Yao had prepared himself, he still involuntarily drew a breath when he felt the sheer power radiating off the man. There were those that accused Wen Ruohan of doing dark and dirty things to get his power, those whisperers all dissatisfied and envious, and they were probably right, too. But those that entered his presence, that were subject to his might directly, knew that it didn’t matter how he’d gotten his power.
Power was power.
Strength was strength.
Wen Ruohan had the face of a young man and the aura of a vicious beast, the temperament of an emperor and the emotional stability of a madman – and he had enough power to crush all the rest of them with a snap of his fingers.
He swept into the room like a storm.
Following in his wake were those he had taken with him on his travels: his highest-ranked guards, his most favorite servants, and Imperial Consort A-Sang, veiled and hidden but for his clever eyes, characteristic scholar’s fan held loosely in his hands.
Walking freely, as if he feared nothing.
As if he owned the hall.
Meng Yao was not the only one who tensed at the sight of the Imperial Consort and his blithe unconcern, thinking that the last thing that they needed right now at this moment was the bitter internecine conflict of the harem breaking out.
And then, of course, it turned out that their concern, all those rumors and suspicions and speculations and schemes, were all for nothing.
Wen Ruohan didn’t so much as look at the rest of them – not the concubines he had obtained, unmatchable in their beauty; not the guards he had nurtured, each one as ferocious as a tiger and as precious as pearl held in his palm; not the deputies he valued so highly; not even Meng Yao to who he had entrusted his city, his sect, his empire.
He had eyes only for his Empress.
“My beloved,” he said with a smile and hands extended as he climbed the stairs, Imperial Consort A-Sang left forgotten behind him to quietly retake his proper place among the other concubines. “Have you missed me?”
The Empress ignored him, silent and unmoving as always.
Wen Ruohan did not take offense the way he might have with someone else – the way he would have, with anyone else.
Meng Yao had heard people say that Wen Ruohan was mad over his unspeaking statute of an Empress, but his time in the Fire Palace had made it difficult for him to believe it. Wen Ruohan enjoyed rape, among the multitude of torments inflicted there, and he took sadistic pleasure in snatching would-be brides or daughters, sometimes even sons, from people he disliked and forcing them to become concubines; the more he disliked them, the more time he spent in the beds of their loved ones.
He was a man who enjoyed violence and humiliation above all else. How could such a man fall in love?
Much less with the Empress, of all people. The frigid, silent Empress, who had no political backing to prove her worth, who had been there by his side for years and years – long enough for any man to grow bored, much less an Emperor who commanded the wind and storm, who could have anyone he pleased?
Meng Yao couldn’t believe it.
And yet, it appeared – he was wrong.
Wen Ruohan’s gaze as he walked up to his wife went beyond passion and into obsession. The miraculous treasure he had obtained in the south, a powerful spiritual weapon in the shape of a lamp that was said to increase the speed of the bearer’s cultivation a dozen times over, was placed in front of her.
“Do you like what I got for you?” Wen Ruohan asked, and the Empress turned her veiled head aside, a clear gesture of rejection. “So picky, so picky. I could pluck the moon out of the sky for you, my beloved, and you wouldn’t care…”
Any normal woman would yield to such persuasion.
Any woman who knew fear, knew Wen Ruohan’s fickle moods, would seek to at least temporize, distract.
The Empress ignored him.
“Same as always,” Wen Ruohan sighed exaggeratedly, and put his hand upon her cheek, turning her face back to him. “You never do change, do you, A-Jue?”
A cold sharp shock spread at the base of Meng Yao’s spine.
The Empress permitted her head to be turned, to be raised to regard her imperial husband.
“Fuck off,” A-Jue said, his voice painfully familiar, and attacked.
-
“Would you like some more tea?” A-Sang – Huaisang, apparently, Nie Huaisang, just as A-Jue was apparently the long-thought-dead heir of the Nie sect, Nie Mingjue, and obviously had never even once been a guard of any hall whatsoever – asked Meng Yao, patting his shoulder sympathetically yet again. “You’ve had a hard day.”
“No, thank you,” Meng Yao said, both because he didn’t know where he’d put the needles he used to check tea for poison after the last cup and also because he wanted to keep some room in his belly for the barrel of liquor he intended to find and down at some point later on.
He rather thought he deserved it.
A hard day. He scarcely had words to explain how much Nie Huaisang was understating things. A hard day!
Meng Yao still had blood splattered on his face from standing too close to the throne when A-Jue – Nie Mingjue, he needed to remember that – when Nie Mingjue decapitated the Emperor right in front of all his deputies and concubines, which was immediately followed by half of said concubines pulling out knives or swords or other weapons and moving at once to hold the other half hostage. The shrieks of those concubines that had not been in the know acted as a signal to those outside the hall, the roar of fighting breaking out at once, and Meng Yao didn’t even want to think about the gigantic mess they’d undoubtedly turned the Sun Palace into.
(But that was still better than thinking over and over, with no little amount of hysteria, I’m so glad I never ordered him to serve me in bed!)
Nie Mingjue had stalked out to the door, the frankly gigantic saber he’d always carried around everywhere finally drawn – it felt almost alive to Meng Yao’s admittedly inferior senses, alive and vicious and cruel and bloodthirsty, and he remembered how he’d once laughed off A-Jue’s claim that death would inevitably follow if he drew his blade – and he’d been greeted by shouts of acclaim and admiration from his followers, cries of dismay and despair from his enemies. He’d still been dressed in an Empress’ robes, which he’d torn apart for more mobility, but no one had cared one bit.
I guess the problems really did start in the harem, Meng Yao thought to himself, and thought he might still be a little hysterical.
Jiang Cheng had shown up at some point, wielding some sort of lighting-whip; he’d only stopped long enough to pull Nie Huaisang into a brief embrace before continuing onwards, his voice snapping out orders as sharp and vicious as his weapon, his orders obeyed by what might or might not have been a secretly resurrected Jiang sect. And he was the least disturbing of their visitors – the Lan sect apparently had been hiding a demonic cultivator away in their placid and boring little mountain retreat, just waiting to bring his unique brand of necromancy to cause havoc in the Nightless City – !
“How did I miss all this?” Meng Yao found himself asking Nie Huaisang, who smiled at him.
“Scale,” he said. “You were so close to everything, and your ascension so abrupt, that you had no chance to catch us – by the time you were put in charge, everything was already in the works. You would have only been able to see the patterns as they were, not as Wen Ruohan would have had them be.”
That made sense.
“You came pretty close a few times, though,” Nie Huaisang added thoughtfully. “I had to deal with more than a few frantic messages from my brother – thanks for spilling that, by the way.”
Meng Yao could not, for the life of him, tell if Nie Huaisang was being sarcastic.
He did feel marginally appeased that he’d come close.
“Was it always supposed to happen now?” he asked, curious. “The lamp he retrieved – was it –”
“Oh, no, no, we’re three months early! The lamp wasn’t important at all; it was just something I dug up a reference to because I knew he wouldn’t be able to resist going after it and we needed him out of the way to set up the last few things we needed. And then da-ge got into a fight with him so that he’d get the idea to drag me with him – he’s vindictive like that, but also predictable – and that gave me the opportunity to keep on poisoning him. The whole thing was actually supposed to be at his birthday banquet, after he’d gotten drunk…it’s all your fault, you know.”
“Me?”
“He was going to execute you, as you’d suspected,” Nie Huaisang said. “Your methods would have forced his hand – he couldn’t have done it publicly, not and keep his self-image of the merit-rewarding Emperor intact. But he promised your father that you’d be dead before the month is out, even if he had to cause an ‘accident’ himself.”
Meng Yao shuddered. That’d been the one weakness of his plan: his weak cultivation, which Wen Ruohan could have used to excuse a death from a supposedly ‘friendly’ interaction.
Still, that wasn’t the key part of what Nie Huaisang had said.
“You sped up your plans – for me?” he asked, confused, and Nie Huaisang nodded. “Why?”
“My brother likes you! He doesn’t like just about anybody, really,” Nie Huaisang said, voice blithe and merry as it had always been, something that raised Meng Yao’s hackles more than relaxed him. Clearly Nie Huaisang wasn’t anywhere near as useless and head-in the-sky, dreamy and idealistic, as he’d appeared for years. “Especially when it turned out that you were easy enough to convince into not continuing to commit atrocities as long as another route was offered – you don’t know how hard some people find that, and of course you did come out of the Fire Palace, very suspicious, but all in all you passed your trial period with flying colors. So obviously we couldn’t let you just die, could we?”
“…this humble one thanks you,” Meng Yao forced himself to say.
Nie Huaisang waved a hand dismissively. “Anyway, you’re a good administrator,” he said. “And there’s still the Nightless City and all the Empire left to manage. You don’t mind, do you? There should be fewer assassination attempts now.”
Meng Yao frowned. “Those attempts…?”
“We spread word that Wen Ruohan was planning on keeping you,” Nie Huaisang said, and he didn’t even sound apologetic. “Obviously Wen Ruohan had already encouraged all those he thought were his enemies to attack you, but we tried to lure out the rest of them: his most faithful servants, the greedy and the vile – that part of the plan was before we got to know you. Or, well, before my brother did. He felt so bad after a while…I don’t see why. He protected you, and together you got rid of any number of the people who would have been our fiercest enemies! So what if you had to endure a little stress?”
No, Nie Huaisang was definitely not useless and dreamy and idealistic.
“Now there’s really only one problem,” Nie Huisang mused. “It’d be strange if you went from being Wen Ruohan’s viceroy to being ours, so we need to give you a new position. But what would suit…?”
“Huaisang! Meng Yao!”
They both turned.
A-Jue – Nie Mingjue, why couldn’t he remember – strode towards them. He’d changed into proper robes at some point, dark ones that could handle bloodstains, and he looked like a war-god, shining with power as bright as sunlight. He was every bit as powerful as Wen Ruohan was, in his own way – the blazing sun to Wen Ruohan’s dark and ominous hurricane – but that wasn’t so much of a surprise, given as he was such a ridiculous cultivation maniac…and, oh, they’d made jokes about the Empress right in front of him. They’d joked about her dual cultivating with the Emperor in front of him – !
No wonder he was so powerful. Wen Ruohan literally shared his spiritual energy with Nie Mingjue, presumably for years, the cultivation making them both grow more powerful and creating a connection between them, a connection that Nie Mingjue had used to drain all that power away from a weakened Wen Ruohan – Nie Huaisang’s unspecified poison, presumably – and then to sever the bond between them when he severed the erstwhile Emperor’s head.
A-Jue smiled at them both, just as free and easy and straightforward as he’d ever been.
“I’m so glad you’ve finally met!” he said, beaming. “You’re very similar, in some ways; I think you’ll get along excellently. Which is good, because I’ll need all the help I can get –”
And then he started talking about a publicity campaign, rearranging the army, and tax reform, about implementing Meng Yao’s system of random audits for more than just wheat and expanding the Watchtowers concept across the entire Empire, and Meng Yao stupidly felt a little like someone had given him flowers and romantic poetry written just for him.
At his side, Nie Huaisang started giggling.
“Oh,” he said. “Well there’s always that, I suppose. It’ll work quite well. I think you’ll make a very nice Empress, Meng Yao – perhaps a bit more sociable than our last, wouldn’t you say?”
The pinnacle of power, Meng Yao thought to himself, and shrugged, accepting his likely fate with a smile that he thought was even genuine. And why not? He could have everything he’d had under Wen Ruohan, except with a leader that would actually listen to him – that he had already trained to listen to him – and it would good for them, too. They’d keep him around, he was sure of it.
After all – good help was so very hard to find.

“On a scale of papercut to run over by a truck, how badly do you hurt?” w lucretia and magnus :O??
Content warnings: magical injuries, not graphic but there is blood
wc 493
thank you I love them!!!!!
*
Lucretia goes down on the battlefield and Magnus is pretty sure it’s at least partially his fault. His main job is to protect the people he loves, and when he’s too far away from them because he’s trying to beat down another bad guy, and they get hit, that means he didn’t do his job.
Of course, he’s also never stronger than when he’s fighting for his family, so the rest of their assailants are running for their lives approximately twelve seconds after Lucretia gets hit with the deep red wave of magical energy and falls.
“Lucretia?!” he cries as he rushes to her, ignoring the blood falling into his eyes from a cut across his forehead. “Talk to me!”
She pushes herself halfway into a sitting position and then collapses back down onto the stone. “Ow,” she mumbles. “T...tell Barry I like...his necromancy better…”
Magnus drops to his knees and cups his hands around her face. “What did they hit you with?”
Lucretia doesn’t say anything. Her eyes are half-closed, her breathing labored.
“You’re not allowed to die,” Magnus tells her. “We’ve got plans for this world, yeah? Eight months left to see it, so you’re not allowed to die.” He bites his lip hard. “Lucy?”
“I’m not planning on dying, Magnus.”
“Okay, okay. Let’s get back to camp, yeah? Can you stand up?”
Shaking her head weakly, Lucretia says, “Think I’d probably...not stay conscious if I tried.”
He winces. “Oof. Um...on a scale of papercut to run over by a truck, how badly do you hurt?”
“How should I know? I’ve never been run over by a truck.” She manages to look up at him and give him a bit of a teasing smile. “But probably...closer to that end...than to a papercut.”
Knowing how high of a pain tolerance Lucretia has, Magnus can’t help but wince again. “It’s gonna be okay, Lucy.”
She starts to nod, but her face contorts in an agonized expression and she rolls onto her knees as she starts to cough. A not-insignificant amount of blood spatters onto the ground. She reaches for his hand.
Magnus’s heart skips a beat as he takes her hand and squeezes. “It’s gonna be okay,” he repeats. “Just breathe, Lucretia, you’re going to be okay.”
Lucretia takes a shuddery breath and wipes her mouth. “If I don’t make it,” she whispers, “see this world, ‘kay? Write it down for me?”
He blinks the blood and tears away from his eyes and picks her up, standing up on shaky legs and holding her close to his chest. “You know I’m a shitty writer,” he says as he starts walking in the direction of their camp, trying to laugh. “So you’ll just have to stay alive and do it yourself, you hear me?”
She puts her head down on his shoulder. “I’ll take that into consideration,” she murmurs.
“You’d better,” he responds.
Lucretia smiles, and stays alive.

!!!!TW!!! HANGING AND SU1C1D3!!!!
!!!CONTAINS OMORI SPOILERS!!!!
Superpower omori! Au.
Omori but with superpowers. Basically, superpowers manifests to someone who had found their ultimate desire. Whether they cant fulfil their desire or not, it will still stay with them once they found their most ultimate desire.
Oh yeah, people can sense the energy of the power. Normal things without power and things with powers are slightly different, and most people can sense power easily.
Idk what to name this au so feel free to recommend me some?
@spadekek
▪《Sunny》
His superpower is obvly those red hands lmao
So his ultimate desire was to save her sister from falling-- when he was the one who pushed her.
His power manifestation was a second too late.
He bacame so disgusted at himself and his powers he represses the memory him having his manifestation at the first place. Or possibly as canon says, he represses the memory of him even pushing his sister.
His ultimate desire, his old desire was to stop her sister from falling.
▪《Basil》
His superpower are vines-- strong ones.
His old ultimate desire was to save Sunny from the consequences of his own reckless incident.
Then the 'plan' came in.
He didn't have time to feel disgusted at himself.
He tells Sunny that he has a plan.
He felt his power manifestating in his body, he sees vines coming out of his skin, golden and sparkly liquid flowing down his hands.
He had always seen people around him saying that their powers manifesting felt great--- refreshed, even.
..but the only thing he is feeling at the moment is pure disgust. At himself, and at his powers.
His ultimate desire, his disgusting and sickening desire was to hang his best friend's sister.
(Note : he hides his powers, because his vines were the ones used to hang mari instead.)
▪Hero
His ultimate desire was to Heal.
The first time he saw his beloved's body-- his beloved's cold body, His manifestation came in
He wants to save her.
He needed to save her.
As soon he saw the body, he fucking ran to it.
He felt the manifestation in him gearing, as he tried to use his recently booted manifestation to heal his lover's cold body.
...it didn't work,
No, certainly worked. He managed to heal her outer wounds, but she couldn't come back to life.
As he grew older and got more knowledge learning medical course, He realised where he healed were only the outer wounds.
He wants to be next to her until their end, who knew it'll be her end first?
....he really wished that his power were necromancy, rather than healing.
▪ Aubrey
Her ultimate desire was to kill-- No, torture.
She wanted to torture the one who had killed her sister
Because she knows that there is no way that vine can withstand a human's weight.
Hell, even somebody bigger than her.
She also knows that this vine is is made out of someone's power.
That thought alone made her rage even more.
She felt rage burning her insides and her ability to think poperly,
Rage filled her as she felt her power getting out of control
But she was upset and unable to think.
So she didn't care. She let her powers go crazy.
Everyone felt their body had been stabbed. It wasn't strong, considering she was young, but it hurted like when a needle pricked your skin. Multiple needles pricked your skin, actually.
They felt their organs doing cartwheels and crashing badly immediately afterwards. It was driving them crazy. Sunny and Basil had lost themselves in pain while Hero was still in grief, ignoring the pain.
[• Aubrey learned 《Torture》!]
¤ Kel
Kel's biggest desire was to stop his friends from continuously lose themselves in pain, resulting his power manifestation to be 'joy'.
He didn't like the painful faces of his friends nor did he like feeling on his body that 'day'.
He admits, he agrees that he's stupid, but he's not exactly naive.
He knows that the painful stabbing-- or the feeling where you accidentally prickle you finger with a needle, is all over his body is possibly because of Aubrey.
'Is this her power? Her..desire?' Was what he thought but he could care less at that point.
Although his power, his manifestation are joy, he did not able to bring joy towards his friends-- even his brother.
He knew he wasn't talented in anything but sports..but, this just makes him feel pathetic
Eventually, Kel felt like he had never gotten his manifestation. He felt like the moment where he got his power were fake, even though it was so obvious to other people that he has it.
▪ MARI
(I cant write her very well, considering ive never played the game lol)
Her power would be like something music or freedom related.k
Due to the pressure of her parents has put on her(they were probs unaware?), she feels like she should be, well, 'perfect'.
But she knows she can't be a perfect girl.
But she still tries anyways.
She wanted to break free from the pressure. She wanted to fly like a bird could
But after that, where will she go?
So she listens, she listens to what her parents want from her.
If they want her to be a musical genius? Then so be it.
Its all for her own good, anyways.
(Lowkey projecting myself on Mari)
MORE DETAILS WILL BE ON PART 2 IF REQUESTED!
