The collaborative map my new Pathfinder group made using The Quiet Year, vs. the redone version I made in Inkarnate!
I'm going to keep adjusting it and adding to it as we get into the game, but this was a lot of fun to do and create with my players!

Ravnica D&D Campaign: The Session 0s
This being my first time DMing a campaign, and also it being the first time playing DnD for most of my party, I decided to do something a little unconventional. Rather than have a first session altogether, I decided to have a 1-on-1 session with each of them, one at a time. This not only allowed me to give their character a little bit of time to orient themselves and also arrive at a common starting point, it also let me focus on each individual player and assist them in full with anything related to the core mechanics of the game or info on the setting (don't worry, I'd also previously talked to them about both of these things at length, but it's one thing to talk about it and it's another to actually do it). It also, of course, let me test out my DMing capabilities without having to entertain/manage a whole group of people. I'm still very much a novice, and I'm making plenty of mistakes along the way, but those first few sessions allowed me to sort of find some solid ground--and also get an idea of how each player (and corresponding character) might behave. Below is a short recap of each character's Session 0.
Tumblr media
Bingus Babolax III: My friend basically gave me free reign with the backstory, so here's what I ended up settling on. We opened the session with him in his apartment in The Blistercoils. His father, a talented Izzet engineer (an Izmundi, even), has died a few days prior in a lab accident, and he's unsure what to do. A mailman arrives and gives him a posthumous package from his dad: a letter and a few other items (including a pendant with his grandfather's finger) (think Krark's Thumb), which prompts him to gather his stuff and leave. After acquiring the rights to his father's bank account, Bingus tries to figure out what to do as a job (though he wants to one day join the ranks of the Izzet, he's not ready yet). He eventually stumbles across the Chamber's recruitment drive and promptly applies, and is even more promptly hired after a short interview with Nassius Ven. He is then escorted to the tavern that will lodge the team, where he meets Dahlia, the innkeeper. (the ending was pretty similar for every character, since the Session 1 starts with them meeting during dinner)
Cornelius Aster: We start with him leaving his mom & aunt's glassblowing store to go do his regular performance in the street. He's learned to use his magical powers (without wondering too much where they came from) to enhance his performances. However, something goes wrong at the end of the performance: his Thaumaturgy inexplicably sets a small portion of the alley ablaze, and Azorius guards immediately put it out and arrest him, despite a few protests from his fans. He's taken to the police station for interrogation, but Nassius Ven shows up and offers him a deal: work for him, and he'll not only avoid jail but also get paid well. Cornelius immediately accepts, then excitedly goes home to tell his mom and aunt.
Iris Kifli: Iris mostly helps out her adoptive parents with the bakery by delivering goods and information to their business's contacts and partners. One day she has to deliver a cake to an eccentric, ex-izzet merchant that lives in a shady part of town. While she's there, Nassius Ven shows up to talk to the merchant and Iris intends to leave, but she overhears some shady guys in an alley talking (in Thieves' Cant) about mugging Ven. Wondering why she can understand them, she nevertheless goes back into the store and warns Ven. Together, they get the Azorius involved and arrest the goons. Ven then offers her a lucrative job as a Guildpact agent. Hesitant, but curious to learn more about her past, Iris accepts.
Vomyr Kos: Vomyr works as a priest in a small guildless (yet orzhov-affiliated) church, but he's actually an experienced conman and actor, having grown up under the tutelage of a retired Dimir spy. He and his mentor have a big heist planned: Vomyr is to infiltrate the nomination process for a new Orzhov pontiff and figure out who's going to win so that his mentor may impersonate them and run off with some considerable cash and awards. Though the first part of the plan goes off well, the plot is discovered and his mentor flees. Vomyr returns home only to find Ven waiting for him with a bunch of Azorius. Similarly to Cornelius, he's offered a contract instead of prison time, which he gladly accepts.
Egyedül: We started out with him getting a visit from Shakta, the Zhur-taa shaman that named him. After some conversation, she heads off to commune with nature and Egyedül goes to a Gruul feast to hang out and tussle a bit. The tussle goes wrong when he gets noticed by a menacing gruul cyclops that threatens to tear him apart, but Shakta arrives and saves him with a fiery distraction. Once the two reunite, she informs him that her vision shows a great danger approaching Ravnica, and that he's part of the solution. She asks him to leave and seek out the Chamber of the guildpact so that one day he will be instrumental in stopping the danger, which he reluctantly does and is hired on the spot.

Just ran session 0 for the TTRPG I made yesterday! Kept notes on everything people needed to ask about so I could make the system easier to understand. Helping my group make characters for the system I put so much work into was fun though! The scope creep is real, but I’ve already written over 50 pages of stuffs, and everyone seemed happy with their choices. One player went with a character who was mad unlucky in all his past lives, so in this life, his power is to manipulate fate, which is a power he totally doesn’t trust cause he remembers his last life. Another one is gonna be playing a high elf who’s gonna fight with a mix of a flintlock and like… punching and kicking things good. The third will be playing an orc who’s very fast, dumb enough that he’s resistant to any mental attack.

Freaks & Facades: Session 0 - Cast of Characters
Welcome to all you wonderful readers!
Here is an introduction to the wonderful character cast for the Freaks & Facades campaign!  This is meant to be a brief overview on the characters’ starting personalities and goals (with some insights gleaned after feeling them out between sessions 1 and 3).
We hope you love them all as much as we do!   Check them out below the cut!
-- Aboleth Eye!
Pryrrish Norfaer - ( @moonstruck-vixen )
Pryrrish of House Norfaer was once one of the serene and mysterious star elf race; now exiled from their cloistered and dying realm of Sildeyuir.
She is a forsworn scholar, hunting for the most hidden secrets of the otherworldly.  In her hands she clutches a tome of spiraling script, the cause and salvation to her quest for knowledge.  Only she can truly understand what the maddening, spiraling script deigns to tell her.  For her eyes and souls both hold that same spiral of unreadable darkness within them…
Her youth was cut short after witnessing devastation on the Material Plane.  The dreaded Day of Mourning.  And when she endeavored to uncover how it had come to pass, that foolish quest brought her no answers.  Only terrible personal disaster.  Paying a price she never anticipated, Pryrrish was branded a heretic.  Forced to embrace the darkness of her new accursed patron--the Elemental Dark itself--to save and begin her life.  The dark book’s secrets both doomed and saved her; perhaps it will now guide her to what it all means?  There must have been a reason behind her misfortune.  A reason for why she was offered the brand of the Elemental Dark upon her soul…
Will she find what she seeks through her determination to reclaim knowledge thought lost?  Or will the Elemental Dark, forever whispering in her ear, consume her in this foolish quest’s end?
Star Elf Warlock 6
Ludwig Hossler Schrödinger - ( @atlysium )
Ludwig Hossler Schrodinger is a young man fascinated by the world around him; and people fascinate him more than anything, for reasons we all take for granted...
He appears a proud scientific noble of Lamordia, tastefully austere and rational to a fault.  Except when it comes to human osteology, the study of bones.  His parents (who love him very very much) helped him acquire a taste for this little-understood branch of science.   But they never truly introduced to the world beyond their cryptic household.  How odd, considering their influence as Markgrafs of the mountain village of Schwartzsteinburg…
It was a great surprise when Schrodinger’s idea to travel beyond the town was embraced wholeheartedly by his parents.  For their darling son hoped to meet with the Society of the Enlightened Mind in Ludendorf!  Lady and Lord Schrodinger thought it would be a life-changing opportunity for their son to share the fruits of his labor in the field of osteology (and osteomancy).   And so, departing from the safety net of his protective and equally gifted parents, he has proudly shared his life’s work to the Society! But the Society, unfortunately, quite misunderstood his enthusiasm for this strange new science.
Is he a victim of academia tirelessly struggling to be understood?  Or, perhaps, the Society saw his endeavors in self-experimentation as the unnatural obsession it truly is?
Human Boneblade 6
Fenri Sunwillow - (Redbrown [not on socials])
Fenri Sunwillow is an exceptional, strong-willed halfling priestess; her smile lights up a room even in the darkest of times.
She is tirelessly devoted to the teachings of the Dawnfather Pelor–God of the Sun, Healing and Mercy.  With her unshakeable faith, Fenri has gone on many adventures beyond the Free City of Greyhawk.  She has faced monsters, scoundrels and failure, all alongside friends who welcomed her gifts and her optimism.  She treasured them wholeheartedly and offered them the grace and healing of her god!
But now Fenri the halfling is no longer among friends.  She is a light with no one to shine upon.  She continues what the tenets of Pelor ask of her, seeking to find those most in need of her gifts.  And her friendship.  Everyone is a friend Fenri hasn’t met yet!  But life is hard on such a small bundle of joy, and the Sun does not shine all day without rest.  And yet Fenri shines and shines–through true faith, inner strength or misguided delusion, who could say?
Will she push through what awaits her, through the darkest time in her life?  Or shall the Sun inside her heart not be enough to sustain her once its out of reach?
Halfling Cleric 6 (Patron Deity: Pelor)
Channa Devir - ( @aureliagaming )
Channa Devir knows much about sacrifice; and she is willing to risk much in order to reclaim what is hers.
An aspiring prodigy in the arts of elemental theory and magic, Channa was lifted up and taught by some of Khorvaire’s greatest conjurers.  They taught her about the laws of reality, and how to make a life with the gifts she was given.  She followed their guidance and friendship, becoming attuned to the  principles of elemental earth in the process.  Earth is steadfast and patient while the world seems in flux.  And she felt through her mentors she had sacrificed enough of her body and soul to have real achievement in this crazy world.
But then her foundation for living was suddenly lost.  Her best friend; gone without a trace; not even a note...  She went to their mentor, supposedly the greatest conjurer in the realm for answers.  Together Channa learned more and more, hoping to unravel the elemental ritual left behind by her friend...  But then her mentor, her only support and teacher, vanished as well.  The ritual remnants in their laboratory...   Channa had lost everything to this mystery, so she decided to follow in her friend and mentor’s footsteps.  To make them answer why they had abandoned her.  The sacrifices needed to for such a ritual would be great, but Channa would follow it to the end.  To be with them again!
Will those she searches for weep that she was drawn onto their same path of mistakenly pursuing knowledge?  Or has Channa offered herself before a hungering evil that has fed upon greater mages than she and her friends?
Human Duskblade 6
Solange Therese Charron -( @owldork1998 )
Solange Therese Charron has long embraced her lot in life, forever on the outskirts.
She had a rough start of it: a strange foundling raised by a pair of poor gravediggers, just beyond the walls of decadent and lively Port-a-Lucine.  She was born touched by the grave in more ways than one, however; for Solange is a caliban, a creation of humanity’s aspirations twisted by the darkness of taboo and unforgiveable sin.  She is forever forced to hide her  deathly beauty behind the veil of the mourner; which suits her fine.  No one asks a  gravedigger why they hide their face...  But those that linger beyond death have taken notice of her, a being trapped between worlds.  And to hone this connection and defend the living, she was invited to watch over the crypts of the city’s oldest bloodlines.
She became a gravekeeper of St. Leonburg’s Cemetery by night, hoping to earn the experience to see what the Order of the Moonlit Vigil protects within the uncharted catacombs below.  The dark of those bone-decorated labyrinths calls to Solange, but she instead pushes towards her duties of protecting the noble dead (and tolerating the living nobles who visit the cemetery to socialize and scheme).  But she cannot truly escape the call, literally and metaphorically...
Can one seemingly born to serve death find peace in her duties among them?  Or must Solange dare to walk among the living to find answers about her spectral-afflicted existence?
Caliban Gravedigger 6

Players will treat their DM’s like total shit and act shocked when nobody wants to DM for them. Like maybe more people in your friendgroup would be interested in DMing if you didn’t play uncomfortably horny murderhobos that try and fuck or kill every named NPC you meet.

Episode 1: Session 0
"You all were in your own worlds. Traveling somewhere, seeking something. On the road you stop somewhere and rest."
There is blackness, a void where no light dares to touch. This is normal however, afterall Kai is blind.
What is not normal are the approaching foot falls of something huge out in the near distance, combined with being completly paralyzed. It draws nearer, closer and closer as the helpless blind woman starts to lose all sense in her body, as if death itself had found her.
There is a villiage. A village Fauna calls home, but no one recognizes her. Not her best friend, nor her older brother knows anything about her. A faceless reflection snaps and breaks after her eyes meet the flat surface they should have been reflected back in.
Amahlia felt a burning emptiness. A hunger for something intangible. She felt nothing, she perceived an empty abyss, only having the awareness that something should be here. An anger surges through her core as she feels a building rage filled scream rising within.
He saw fire, fire and blood painting the village in crimson. An awful smell of decay fills Lucerian's nostrils as he scoops up the limp corpse of a girl. Hallowed glazed over eyes frozen open stared right into his own. Her lips part and in the blink of an eye her face warps into another loved ones'. In a voice both dry and flat she accused "Why couldn't you save us... Luci?"
Imil found himself in the void. He is separate from his goddess; the Raven Queen. He can not feel her presence. He calls into the blackness, and there is no reply. Just as he believes this is the furthest from her he has ever been, vertigo kicks in as he feels himself falling even further and further away.
As the 5 nightmares conclude they find themselves alone inside a fortune tellers shop, except for a woman so frail that a blow of wind would surely destroy her. She presents to them a tarot card held between her fingers.
Kai used her special ability of seeing through other's eyes to read the tarot card. "Go to the blood on the vine Tavern." She takes it with hesitation.
Fauna takes her card with a starry eyed smile.
Lucerian takes it with confusion.
Imil with conviction.
And then there's Amahlia who slaps the tarot card out of the woman's hand.
Amahlia probably broke that woman's hand.
#Rip.
All fades to black.
There are no eyes Kai can see through, so it's just her and her druid focus/staff. The air feels more dense, but with a bit of echo location she can tell she's in a wooded area. With no eyes to borrow she can no longer read the card in her hand, so she remembers what she saw through the fortune tellers eyes.
"Awe fuck. That means I need to go where there's people."
She picks a direction and starts walking.
Fauna found herself on the misty road surrounded by trees, right next to Lucerian, her older brother. She checks her hair to make sure her pet bat "3B" is still with her. Satisfied to feel him still clinging to the side of her head in a sleepy daze. Fauna bounds on-wards with a Pep to her step, excited for a new world to explore as Lucerian cautiously follows behind, keeping an eye on her.
Imil feels lost, but knows he can only find his way to civilization if he gets going.
Amahlia finds the tarot card in her hands despite knowing she slapped it down rather than taking it. She tossed it over her shoulder with a huff and wandered away.
They all wandered into the mists lost and alone.
Or so they thought.
In an instant Kai could suddenly hear footsteps behind her, she could sense the presence of minds accompanying them. To which Kai calmly stopped and said inquired who these people were. By this I mean she around brandishing her staff like a bat, yelling "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!"
Fauna isn't threatened at all. In fact, she seems happy to have "more friends." However, Kai, Amahlia, and Lucierian are like
Tumblr media
While Imil is just off to the side and done with everything.
Fauna excitedly shows her tarot card after spotting it on someone else (probably Kai. Idk) and is like, "You got a card too?"
They all pull out their tarot cards, realizing they all were taken here by the same means. Amahlia, meanwhile, hands Fauna her card because Amahlia wants nothing to do with it.
They agree on a truce to figure out what is going on. They keep walking until they find 2 scared children standing in the middle of the road. They beg the strangers to help them. You see, a monster has gotten into their basement, and their parents are still inside. Very normal stuff that felt sus as fuck.
So Imma take a moment to note something about Kai's telepathy. Kai is a kalashtar, a race known to have telepathic abilities. Her ability to see through eyes, however, is a homebrew solution because of how many dnd abilities rely on sight, causing her blindness to potentially be problematic. The scope of her abilities does get nerfed as time goes on, as we try to keep her balanced. This said; in the very beginning, Kai could read active thoughts. This is removed later, but for now, she can read minds without any strings attached. I will note later on whenever her abilities get tuned and adjusted into something less broken. This said👏
Kai reads the children's minds because this is easily either a trap or genuine. Their thoughts appear to be scrambled and chaotic, and their fear feels real. Their gut says to not trust them, but they can't shake the thought if "ok but what if they really are just scared kids in danger?"
Everyone in the party agrees to help the children except Amahlia, who only comes along for the ride.
The manor is in the woods and from the outside looks normal. It's 3 stories, Gothic style architecture, normal shit for the setting
The manor is in the woods and from the outside looks normal. It's 3 stories, Gothic style architecture,  normal shit for the setting
They go inside and nothing seems amiss... at all.
Like it looks like businuess as usual
The kids follow us, hiding behind Imil's leg (who was the sweetest to them)
Imil gives them something to snack on and has them hide in the closet while we look around
Kai first looks into the living room. Which has 3 curious looking wolf taxidermies on the floor. Kai doesnt trust it so I have her poke at them with her staff. Nothing
In the room over there's a loud crash
Because amahlia is beating the shit out of one of the glass doors into the dining room. Why you might ask? Well clearly it's because it had the audacity to be in her way.
Fauna is looking around, there's wood carvings around the fireplace. In a flash they go from flowery and pretty to ghoulish carvings of wolves, then back again
#normal shit, nothing to see here
Fauna thinks it's a good idea to seal the kids into the closet by jamming a broom threw the handle. Something the party found questionable but did not stop.
They all move to the kitchen (except Amahlia). There's a suspicious lack of food that can go bad in there
Kai hears what sounds like a party in the room over (the dining room) she points it out, everybody now can hear it (except fauna who is investigating the dumwaiter that suspiciously has no access to the basement that allegedly exists.
Btw there is no visible staircase to the basement either.  The stairs only go up.
Everything is fine, good and normal
Kai and Luciren cautiously walk to the dining room door. She reaches for the handle, grabs it, twists it, and the sound stops.
Interrupted by Amahlia approaching them and saying "I just killed all the wolves in there"
Which btw again, were all taxidermies
Opening the door, they find a table covered in the most delicious looking food ever, and plates full of half eaten meals
-As if they got up mid meal
There's a mural along the walls that looks happy and chipper
But Luciren blinks, the mural changes to starving children being mauled by wolves, then back to happy children frolicking in a field
Kai caught this one too because she was using his eyes
This is when the whole squad officially recognizes that this isn't normal
#fuck this house
They go to the front door
Its locked
Kai senses nothing beyond the door
She mentions it when amahlia suggests breaking a window
Panic ensues. They think they're in a nightmare, Kai swears it can't be because she is incapable of dreaming. Nobody asks her to elaborate
In fact Kai is a mystery to everyone who despite being blind seems to get around just fine.
Amahlia makes a dash for the closet, pulls out the broom handle, and swings it open as she screams "I KNEW WE COULDNT TRUST THOSE KIDS"
Imil and Luciren hold her back from unleashing her wrath on the sniveling children cowering in the back of the coat closet.
Kai brushes past them and gets on their level. "How do we get into the basement."
Just as before, their thoughts are too chaotic to decipher.
In the background, Fauna manages to calm Amahlia, the barbarian down.
There is no choice. They can only go upstairs.

So tonight was a bust for DND 😭
One of our people got called into work, another players cousin stole their car while they were sleeping, one players wife grounded him (he's not allowed anywhere to be with anyone atm (trust us, we all feel icky about that and he knows)) and the last was too intimidated by my brother and me to come over for fear of looking dumb for never playing 🥺 (we would never btw, I love when new people play)
But!
We did mange to knock out 3 characters!
Scarlett the Druid (sister in law)
Lilly the Rouge (daughter, 7yo)
Unta the Warlock (me!)
I'm gonna be playing Unta, the Kenku Warlock in service to Themberchaud! After being offered as a sacrifice in exchange for their own lives, Unta's parents left the young crow Kenku with the robust red dragon.
Tumblr media
As she grew, she learned the ways of magic and pledged to find a way to free Themberchaud from the underground grey dwarf mines where he's been stuck.
Mages often open portals for Unta to travel back to Themberchaud so she may give her gold offerings and tell him of her progress to learning to spell polymorph, so she may turn him into a more....mobile....form.
She's very much a yes man to the dragon, in order to keep her life she's needed to be. But however, one of the portals was....strange when she left Themberchaud's side one day. And she found herself in a land not too much unlike her own, but with names shed never heard of before....

I've seen a few posts of people from varying us states saying "why is no one talking about x new anti LGBTQ+ bill/law in my state?" and I need you guys to know that unfortunately part of the reason you're not hearing much about your specific state is that it's not just your state. there are currently 321 anti LGBTQ+ bills in the us
Tumblr media
you'll notice that several of these states have more than 10. Missouri and Oklahoma have 31 and 34 respectively. and some of these have already passed or are well on their way. living here has become exponentially more terrifying. and even people in states with 0 bills should be worried because they are absolutely not going to stop at state level legislation, the next step is federal law. it's really time for everyone in the us to be vigilant right now. connect with people in your community and start or get involved in movements for change, starting on a very small local level. I know it gets really discouraging looking at maps like this. you're probably not going to be able to help everyone in every state, but you might be able to make a big difference with your local community
