Esdeath:

She thought she was asking them out. (More like telling but still.)

Either way she is going to fix it so they aren't so annoyed with her.

She will ask them out but no matter their answer they are stuck with her.

Seryu Ubiquitous:

She most likely did it to protect from the world so in a way to her it was asking them out.

She won't totally understand why they would be annoyed with her.

In return she may become annoyed with them as well.

She will try something more romantic later when everything has calmed down.

Chelsea:

She ignores their annoyance at first.

She admits she could have done things differently.

So, she does try to do that to fix things even if it's just a bit.

But if they stay annoyed, they get no romantic sweet times.

I am reading the first bit of The Dragon's Promise now, and I find it so funny how oblivious Shiori seems to be about Seryu?

Like, she is literally thinking to herself that maybe his feelings run a little deeper than friendship about three hours before he reveals that "surprise, the literal piece of my heart you have means we are engaged! The wedding is today."

Like, yes, Shiori, I think he wants to be a little more than friends.😂

I just finished reading Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim!!

(Look at how pretty that cover is...)

It's a fantastical magical plot following an amazing female protagonist who starts as a spoilt (to a degree, don't shout at me) princess. I love this kind of character development where someone is forced to learn independence and finds their own strength.

The bonds that Shiori makes and discovers warm my heart. I love so many of the characters Lim has written in this book but Kiki has got to be my favourite.

This book is kind of ghibli-esque, which I LOVE. It's right up my alley. I do wish to have seen a little more of Shiori and her family (including her Dad and Raikama).

A criticism I have is that I feel as if at the beginning, Lim was trying to establish both Seryu and Takkan as potential romantic interests. I was personally rooting for the more witty Seryu because I enjoyed their banter a lot. But we don't see much of Seryu throughout the story in comparison to Takkan (even though I think he's the most interesting character). In this way, I guess you can say that Takkan and Shiori has more chemistry.

I know that there is a sequel - The Dragon's Promise - which probably focuses more on Seryu. I'm not sure if he is still a love interest after finishing SCC though (I died a little bit on the inside but I still love Takkan, he's so sweet).

Overall, I absolutely adore the way Lim has written all of her characters (but also I need more pls). The story itself is great - I like the way it draws on mythology and gives of a fairytale vibe.
