Golden Thousand-Armed Kannon statue
(黄金の千手観音像)
Of course, it is not pure gold, but gilt. I got this Senju Kannon a long time ago.
At the time I got it, it didn't stand up on its own (it probably came with a special stand and Zushi-cabinet, but it was missing), so I lost interest in it and put it away.
Recently, I took it out, I was once again impressed by the intricate and exquisite carving or casting.
I wonder how it was made. I wonder if each arm was made by molding and carving, and then fitted into each arm one by one.
Or was the whole thing made in one mold and then add detailed carvings later?
The face of the Kannon, made of jade, is also well carved with half-open eyes.
Furthermore, the metal covering around the face must have required a high level of skill.
I don't know the exact year, but I suspect it is from the Qing dynasty.
Unfortunately, the front two arms are missing. But they're only two of the thousand arms. lol
The thousand-armed Kannon saves people with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes.
May the compassion of the Buddha gently surround you.

WAIT ANOTHER THEORY: Ok so in the star lily dance performance, theres a part in the mv where it cuts to the moon which has emi’s face in it. Now, on the wiki it describes Emi as a Senju Kannon
Tumblr media
It implies that her role in the story is to end the suffering of Mai and Akari (which also suggests shes a foil to Shikyou) which is why many people think shes the one who brought them together in The Foxs Wedding.
Now back to her appearance in Star Lily Dance Performance, in this song, Mai is having a dying dream as she is being beheaded by Shikyou - this suggests that her happiness and relationship with Akari isnt real. However, I disagree, what I think is happening is that Emi is granting Mai a final chance at happiness and a way to escape torment before her death by inviting Akari to her subconsciousness so they can share Mai’s final moments together. I believe it’s possible that the real Akari is able to interact with Mai in this sequence because not only has she been able to interact with people through her mind such as Shikyou and Tsukuyomi, but she’s implied to be or at least harbour the spirit of a kitsune (which is why her clans named after them) which would grant her the ability to travel into minds and dreams. Overall, I believe this was another way of Emi uniting the two together once more to not only piss off Shikyou but also try to grant Mai peace after death. Hope that made sense anyways

Hinduism & Buddhism In Naruto
There are many references to different cultures in Naruto. I'm mostly familiar with Hinduism & Buddhism. So I'll take about some of the connections here.
Chakra
The term "Chakra" is particularly well-known in the Narutoverse. Chakra is something that is required to perform various jutsus in Naruto(except taijutsu). It is created by fusing spiritual and physical energy.
The concept of Chakra arose in Hinduism's early traditions. Human life, according to the concept, exists in two parallel dimensions, one being the physical body(sthula sarira) and the other being the psychic body(sukshma sarira).
The seven-point chakra system is prevalent in Hinduism(six chakra points along with a seventh centre).Muladhara, Svadhishthana, Manipura, Anahata, Visuddha, Ajna are the chakra points along with Sahansara.
Tumblr media
In Buddhism, the five-point chakra system is prevalent. The five chakra points are the Basal chakra, Abdominal chakra, Heart chakra, Throat chakra, and Crown chakra.
Raigō:Senjusatsu/Welcoming Approach:Thousand-Armed Murder
Tumblr media
The Welcoming Approach:Thousand-Armed Murder is the supreme jutsu of the fire temple. Asuma and Chiriku were seen using this jutsu.
Though the spirit of the thousand-armed Kannon is summoned to protect the user or attack the enemies, the Raigō/Welcoming Approach refers to Amitābha Buddha(the principle Buddha in Pure Land Buddhism)making an appearance on a purple cloud at the time of death to lift the deceased's spirit up and ascend back to the Pure Land.

Heian Period Senju Kannon

Descend of Buddha Amitabha (17th– 18th century painting)
Garuda
Both Sasuke's personal summon, a large hawk named Garuda, and Deidara's C4 Karura technique refer to Garuda from Hinduism & Buddhism. Garuda is a divine creature who is the king of all birds who resembles an eagle and is the enemy of all serpents/nāgas.
Tumblr media
The Rinnegan
The Rinnegan is also known as the Samsara Eye. According to the manga, anyone who possesses the Rinnegan has six abilities known collectively as the six path technique, which are the Deva path, Asura path, Human path, Animal path, Preta path and Naraka path.
Samsara is the belief in death and rebirth that is central to many Indian religions. The concept was first mentioned in the Rigveda, but it was not developed entirely until the early Upanishads.
In Buddhism, Samsara also known as the wheel of existence or Bhavacakra, and it is a distress cycle of birth, rebirth, and redeath with no start or end.
The Samsara or cycle of life, death and rebirth is made up of six interconnected realms:Niraya, Pretas, Tiryak, Manusya, Devas, and Asuras. The liberty from this cycle is known as Nirvana, and it is said to be reached only after attaining enlightenment.
Tumblr media
Bhavachakra wheel
Now coming to the six paths technique-
The Deva Path(Tendō)
The Deva path reflects the heavenly realm where devas/gods reside, the deva realm of the samsara realms. In this path, the user can be seen manipulating attractive and repulsive forces. This path as well grants the ability Chibaku Tensei, which can create a huge terrestrial body from nearby substances.
Tumblr media
(Pain was able to destroy a whole village Isn't that some god-like power?)
The Human Path(Ningendō)
The Human path reflects the human realm, which is manusya's realm. It is said that if someone is rebirthed in this realm, they can attain Nirvana and break the cycle by achieving enlightenment. The human path allows the user to read people's minds and suck out their souls.
The Asura Path(Shuradō)
The Asura path reflects the Asura realm, Asuras fight with gods/devas and distress the Manusya/humans.The Asura path allows the user to augment their body with extra limbs and weapons. Similarly, Asuras are many times depicted with multiple heads, extra limbs and weapons.
Tumblr media
The Animal Path(Chikushōdō)
The Animal path grants the user the ability to summon supernatural and otherworldly creatures similarly animals reside in the Animal realm.
Tumblr media
The Preta Path(Gakidō)
The Preta realm is inhabited by thirsty ghosts and restless spirits. These spirits and ghosts have only a spiritual presence and no physical presence. The preta path was shown in the manga to be capable of absorbing chakra and most Ninshu.
The Naraka Path(Jigokudō)
The Naraka realm is divided into torturous regions with varying degrees of extreme suffering. Likewise, The Naraka path summons the King of Hell to render judgement. If the target answers honestly, their soul is spared; however, if the target answers dishonestly, the deity tears and devours the target's soul.
Tumblr media
The Outer Path(Gedō)
The outer path, which grants the user control over death and life is used to bring back the dead via the reincarnation jutsu Samsara of Heavenly Life(Gedō- Rinne Tensei no Jutsu). The outer path which contradicts Buddhist teaching, allows to cross the flow of Samsara. Buddhists believe you either go round the misery-laden wheel of existence/samsara wheel or you achieve enlightenment and attain Nirvana thus one can't be reincarnated.
(Except a part 2 soon cause there are so many other references I wanna talk about also sorry could not add more pictures due to Tumblr's 10 picture limit)
