American Echo Chamber, 2018 Motors, LEDs, microcontroller and radio module José Carlos Martinat This installation represents how ideologies are amplified and reinforced in the current social and political landscapes. Inspired by artisanal pyrotechnic castle fireworks from Lima, this large-scale work is composed of mechanical light sculptures that collectively generate a dramatic and entertaining space for visual consumption. The sculptures incorporate simple movements, emphasizing an overall kinetic quality, as well as LED screens. Forte Dei Marmi Unfortunately this side trip was a bust. The piece of art that I went to see was no longer there. But, this was still an interesting find. The northeast of Florence town reminded me of Rodeo Drive and Chevy Chase in Washington. DC. You could smell the snobberyism in the air. Considering it was raining with blustery cold winds in Barcelona, this contrast made for a pleasantly mild day. You actually could've enjoyed lounging on the beach.
