#updated design for val. ive drawn him before but am no longer satisfied with it#and listen i know its sacrilege to not give valentine the heart shaped tiddy window. and trust me i am allured by it.#but if i could get pretentious about character design for a sec i dont think its all that in character for him if im honest#smthn that always stuck with me wrt val and quad is ryan saying 'val is like a rollercoaster. quad is like skydiving.'#val is a dedicated and professional showman. all about the buildup and mystique amid the exciting ups and downs#so i simply think he'd leave a little more to the imagination. hence a formfitting but not exposing costume#and a nice comfy turtleneck in his downtime <3#i think about val a good bit and i like him a lot but i feel like sometimes people have a very different read of him vibes-wise than i do#val is a showman through and through but i think he's kind of awkward outside the routine and distant spectacle of it.#when people catch him off guard in intros it shows and just listen to him stammer his way through that serious talk with heartbreak#he's percieved publically as The Perfect Man to some extent- order says so#and between barry and kakyoin i dont think thats a matter of her personal taste.#and he does want a significant other but when you're thought of as the perfect man only people with obnoxious egos think they deserve you#and to circle back to the conversation with heartbreak.#theres sometimes a compulsion to compare val and crimson to quad and order for Red Trauma reasons but#i think its interesting that one of the only times Val's ever talked about his experience with crimson he compared him to cupid.#especially since. like cupid. Crimson expressed similar obliviousness to what he'd done wrong in cpuk orange#seemingly genuinely not understanding why Valentine refused to be around him#anyhow. i also think Quad's helmet was attached and didnt come off until J0hn got to fiddle with him#for the Symbolism of revealing the face = him gaining access to all of his feelings he wasnt allowed <3#cpu kerfuffle

↳ ♡₊˚. valentine's trouble ꒱
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⧽ summary - not everything can be perfect, no matter how hard your boyfriend tries for it to be. he was bound to make mistakes at some point. but as the fates would have it, even his mistakes were perfect - a perfect coincidence!
chan x gn!reader // fluff fluff fluff! // wc - 1250 words // warnings - one sexual joke // happy valentine's day 🫶🏼
Tumblr media
"channie?"
you can't find your boyfriend. you can't find your boyfriend in your own house.
"babe! where are you?"
he wasn't in the bathroom. he wasn't in your shared bedroom. he wasn't in the kitchen. he wasn't in any of his usual places.
a trickle of worry rolls into your mind.
"chan where-"
you stop dead, mouth still half open with your words dying at the tip of your tongue.
"what are you doing here?"
one problem solved - your boyfriend was slumped against the wall of your terrace, face contorted with an emotion you couldn't place, head hung low.
"babe? What's the matter?"
second problem uncovered - he avoids your eyes, pocketing his phone before looking away to the side. he's clearly hiding something from you.
"nothing."
"then why do you look so miserable?"
he clicks his tongue, awkwardly shuffling on his feet.
"it's nothing yn."
he wasn't even trying to hide his lie.
"channie-"
"you're going to hate me!"
you startle at his outburst, letting a beat pass in silence.
"why would I hate you?"
the very idea seems ridiculous. you didn't think you were ever capable of harboring any negative feelings towards your boyfriend.
"because i messed up, okay? I-" he breaks off, running a frustrated hand across his face.
"channie will you please tell me what's bothering you?"
when he finally meets your eyes, your heart sinks. he looks so sad a hint of worry creeps into your system.
"did you lose something? break something?"
"no! even worse - I forgot what date it is."
you stare back at him blankly, slowly wrapping your mind around his words. was today supposed to be something special?
"I don't understand Chris. is today an important anniversary or something?"
"it's valentine's week, yn! I was so caught up with work i forgot!"
his voice rings with disappointment, and you watch in confusion as he avoids your eyes when you take a step closer to him.
"yes channie it's valentine's week. what about it? there's nothing special to remember."
"no baby. i forgot that valentine's day is literally next week. i barely have time to plan something!"
and he seems so genuinely distraught you can't help the giggle that escapes your mouth, earning an exasperated glare from him.
"love, you don't have to plan anything for me. why are you so hung up about this?" you gently cup his cheek, urging him to look up.
"i'm barely at home and this is the one day i'm not supposed to miss."
"chan-"
"i remembered only an hour ago, and the restaurant I wanted to reserve for the day got booked out just this morning," he sadly whispers, leaning into your touch but still refusing to look you in the eyes. "i had been planning this for an entire year."
his voice trails off towards the end, and your heart aches as he looks like a kicked puppy.
chan's love language was acts of service. he did everything for you as far as he could - picking you up from work, looking after your health when you got too busy, never missing a date night, making sure you ate and rested well. there was nothing that he didn't do. and you loved him for it. so much. and you could only imagine how he felt upon forgetting a seemingly insignificant date.
"oh chan," you whisper, moving your hand from his cheek to his nape, tangling your fingers in his hair. "don't stress it, love. it's fine."
"but-"
"plus," you silence him, bringing your other hand to place a finger against his lips. "i already planned something for us. if anything it's good that the restaurant is booked! or our plans would have clashed."
"but yn," he brings his own hands to cup your wrist, entwining your fingers together. "that place is so pretty. it would have been perfect. and so romantic."
you shake your head, flashing him a small smile.
"channie, i promise we can go there sometime else, yeah?"
he still looks a bit dejected, but he lets a small smile stretch across his lips none the less.
"i suppose."
"see! it isn't that big of a deal."
"so which place did you reserve?"
"that's a secret!"
"hey! not fair!"
Tumblr media
"can you at least tell me where it is?"
"nope. that would ruin the surprise."
you hear chan groan in the passenger seat as you drive through the busy streets of Seoul, patting his thigh comfortingly.
"this isn't fair. at least i always tell you where we're going!"
you laugh at his insistence, keeping your eyes trained on the road.
the week passed by so quick you barely realized it, and valentine's day came knocking on your door in the form of chan with your favorite bouquet of flowers, chocolates, and a will to coax the venue of your date for the special day.
"ok at least tell me what letter does it's name start with?"
"chan if you don't stop i will make you sleep on the couch tonight."
"you wouldn't dare deprive me of sex on valentine's day!"
you smack his arm, shaking your head in defeat as he laughs at your reaction.
"just wait for fifteen minutes babe. we're almost there."
you were going to stand your ground firmly.
you would not give in to his puppy eyes.
you even insisted on driving yourself so you wouldn't have to reveal the location.
"you're so mean," he mutters, sliding down in the seat.
but that's the last of his complains that you hear, because the rest of the ride is filled with your usual banter and jokes, and when you finally hit the breaks, and signal him to step out, he all but bounces out of the car in his excitement.
"thank you," you say gratefully as he opens your door, helping you out of the vehicle.
"so this is where - oh."
his mouth drops open, and he freezes in his spot, one arm still around your waist as he gaps at the building before you.
"surprise!" you say, a tinge of nervousness painting your words. "i hope you like it! hyunjin told me about this place a while back."
but you watch in confusion as he just stares at the restaurant with his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.
did he not like it?
"chan-"
"how did you know?"
you blink at him in confusion as he fully turns to face you.
"how did i know what?"
"this," and he points at the building with one hand, "is where i wanted to take you!"
"what?"
a laugh bubbles from him as he looks between you and the restaurant.
"this is the place i had in mind too! i wanted to take you here."
"you're joking."
"i can't believe it either," he agrees excitedly, finally moving along and pulling you with him.
"when did you reserve our table?"
"i think the morning when you told me you had forgotten it was valentine's week?"
"no way! you're the one who probably booked the last table i was trying to reserve!"
and his excitement is so contagious you can't help but laugh along, shaking your head.
"it worked out for both of us then," he says happily, slipping his hand into yours.
"yeah you were sad for no reason."
"hey! don't be mean!"
and hyunjin had been right.
the place was perfect. just like the man sitting in front of you.
it was a valentine's day well spent.

Pitter Patter, Part One
Pairing: Bryce Lahela x Georgia Valentine (F!MC)
Collab With: @brycelahelalover
Word Count: 4.5K
We loved our last collab we done last time that @brycelahelalover and I decided to do another one. In this one Bryce and F!MC are having a baby and learning to become the best parents they can be, so their child doesn’t have to experience what they did as children. I am adding some personal feelings and thoughts to my part of this collab. So it is a little but about me and what type of person I was going through school and my thought process and how that has developed over the years up until now, when I’m 22. I hope you enjoy this one! Remember to keep an eye out for part 2 which will be posted by Chahnaz, as well as a little side story she wants to write too.
=================================
She had always had a hard time trusting people, but in particular, she’d had a hard time trusting men all her life. She was the shy kid in school who had a small group of people she would hang out with and if they weren’t at school she would always find a quiet spot to sit by herself and pass the time by sitting studying for a subject as she ate her lunch. She never caught anyone’s eye, meaning she never had a relationship. Though that was much to her relief as she already had enough to deal with, and there was no way she could handle a relationship. So when she started her time at Edenbrook hospital after graduating med school, she had no idea that she would be where she is now at 31.
--- 8 Years Earlier ---
“You seriously don’t see children in your future?! Like at all?”
Georgia shook her head as she swallowed her bite of pasta salad at the question asked by one of her friends, Angelica.
“Nope. Not at all.”
“Why?”
Georgia shrugged. “I just... don’t feel like that’s in the cards for me so why bother thinking about it?”
Angelica smiled sadly and gently rubbed Georgia’s wrist before saying goodbye and heading back behind the counter of the coffee shop to continue with her work, leaving her friend to study for an exam.
--- Present Day ---
Bryce sat up in bed with a loud yawn as he stretched out, the person beside him groaning in tired annoyance. “Shut up.” they mumbled, rolling over and stuffing the pillow over their head. Bryce grinned lazily before laying over them and resting his head on the pillow. “Ahhh yes. Much comfier... I should have ordered the Georgia style mattress when I brought the frame instead.” he teased. “Get off of me you fat oaf.” Georgia protested, her voice muffled beneath the pillow.
“It even talks.. cool. Creepy.. but still cool. Tell me, do you love me?”
“Yes. You know I do.”
“mhm. Are you in love with me.”
“Bryce...” she sighed.
“Tell me.”
“I can’t breathe. I’ll tell you that for free. Anything else and you’re gonna have to pay.”
Bryce Chuckled rolling off of her and back onto his half of the bed, Georgia throwing the pillow off of her head.
“Wow. You are RED.”
“And you’re clearly in the wrong profession, Sherlock Holmes.” She retorted smugly.
Bryce looked at his girlfriend with his trademark smirk and eyes sparkling with mischief before launching himself at her and smothering her with affectionate kisses and a massive hug, resting his head in the crook of her neck as she hugged him back.
“We need to get up Bryce.”
“I don’t want to.”
“We have to. I have work and you have shopping to do.”
Bryce groaned into Georgia’s neck and she laughed at him. “Come on.”
“Nope.”
“Bryce.”
“Ugh, finee. But you owe me later.”
“I’ll make it up to you, promise.”
“You had better.”
--- 4 Hours Later ---
Georgia was walking through a hall on her way to the cafeteria to get some coffee, when a blur of colour zoomed past knocking her into the wall. “Oof.” she said aloud as someone came back around the corner, when she met the persons eyes she took in a sharp breath. Bryce looked at her apologetically.
“Sorry babe.”
“No, it’s okay. What are you doing here anyway? I thought it was your day off?”
“It was supposed to be, but I’ve been called in to assist on an emergency surgery. We’ll have to finish the shopping together later.”
“Oh. Okay, well... good luck.” She smiled and went up on tiptoe to give him a quick kiss before he rushed off again. As she trudged onward, Georgia ran into Zaid who waved her over.
“What’s up?” she asked as she stopped beside him
“Baz told me that you’re needed upstairs.”
“Oh. Okay, thank you.” She smiled as Zaid nodded curtly and left, leaving Georgia to go up to the diagnostics office.
When she got there the team was already half way through a differential, she took a seat and done her best to catch up despite the fiery death glares her boss was giving her. They were strong enough that she could have sworn her skin was burning.
“That would be everything for now. And Valentine.”
“Y-yes, Dr. Ramsey?”
“I won’t accept tardiness on my team. If it happens again you can kiss your spot goodbye. Understood?”
“Yes, Dr. Ramsey, Sir.”
She bowed and backed out of the room as if he was royalty before turning around and heading off to her patients again. Later in the day she met up with Bryce and they went to finish the grocery shopping together. Though the car ride there seemed quiet and tense as Georgia looked out of the window with a distant look in her eyes.
“Are you okay sweetheart?” Bryce asked, concern on his face as he darted glances to the seat beside him. But he got no answer. “Geor-”
“I’m fine.” She snapped out of seemingly nowhere forcing Bryce into a silence making the atmosphere in the car very awkward. When they reached the parking lot of the store and Bryce killed the engine after parking the car she spoke up again. “You stay here. I’ll get everything we need.”
She still had that tone in her voice and Bryce could tell she was doing it again. Trying to put distance between them, and it was then he registered what the look in her eyes truly was. A mix of fear and uncertainty. Sighing, he locked them in the car and took her hand in his tentatively and stroked the back with his other spare one. “Babe. It’s okay.” He whispered looking at her even though she refused to look back at him. “I understand that you get scared. And that’s okay, Just please... don’t push me away. I’m here for you Georgia. Through whatever life will throw at you. I’m in your corner.” He watched for a reaction from her, but she just shook her head as she blinked back tears. “Oh sugarplum.” He sighed, unbuckling her seatbelt and pulling her into his lap. She silently snuggled closer into him as he rubbed soothing circles onto her back and kissed the top of her head delicately as if she was an expensive piece of antique china porcelain he couldn’t afford to break. Georgia cried quietly into his chest until she fell asleep, Bryce laying her in the back of the car and covering her with a blanket before locking the car and heading inside to do the shopping himself. By the time she woke up, they were back at Bryce’s apartment and her head was in Bryce’s lap as he watched a show on TV whilst absentmindedly playing with her hair. Her slight movement and yawn alerted him to the fact she was awake now. He glanced down to find her glistening green eyes looking up at him, they were still tired and had a mix of emotions flowing through them.
“Hey.” He said with a soft smile at her, which she returned.
“Hey.” She whispered back, sitting up to stretch some more before laying back in Bryce’s lap, his hand going back to playing with her hair. “I’m sorry for earlier.” She mumbled, staring at the screen as if it was a window.
Bryce sighed. “It’s alright. You’ve explained everything to me before. I’m not mad. You’re perception of men hasn’t exactly been the greatest growing up. Your dad wasn’t the best, your mom only ever dated men who would break her heart and was too stubborn to end things because she didn’t want to give the man the satisfaction of her doing so. And I’m your first ever love. Navigating a relationship when you haven’t had the best examples is hard, I get that. I mean, look at my parents. I’m blessed because they stayed together, but... they weren’t the best example of what love should be. When I say I’m in your corner, I mean it. We’re in this whole adventure together. It’s new and scary for both of us, but don’t let the feeling of fear rule your thoughts. I’m not leaving you, I love you too much. I’d be insane to leave such a beautiful woman. There’s nobody like you. You’re smart, funny, caring. You may not see it yourself but you’re also very courageous at times. Nothing is going to change the way I feel about you, ever.”
Georgia smiled at him as a tear rolled down her cheek. She had only been awake for approximately 5 minutes and he had made her cry. Bryce looked down when he heard a sniffle and looked at her with a look of adoration mixed with concern.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah. It’s just... you’re so sweet when were together. Why don’t you show this side more often?”
“You mean in public with our friends?”
She nodded.
“Because this side of me is reserved for moments like this. Where it is just us, and I can be as sappy and loving and worshipping of you as I like without judgement from the likes of Jackie.”
“Bryce...” Georgia smiled genuinely as he bent down to press a soft kiss to her lips. She kissed him back, and when they pulled away their lips were a little plumper.
--- 3 Weeks Later ---
Tumblr media
Bryce sighed as he got into his car after one of the most intense surgeries he had conducted, he was equal parts worried as he was tired. What was so urgent that Georgia wanted to speak about? He was taken over by confusion as he drove towards his apartment where he knew his girlfriend was waiting for him. As he parked in the lot of the complex, he took a moment to breathe as he killed the engine before heading upstairs on tired feet. As he opened the door, the familiar smell of his favourite rice dish hit his nostrils and he perked up a bit before dread overtook his senses. If she had cooked his favourite meal what was this about if not breaking up? He stepped over the threshold and closed the door, tossing his keys into the bowl on the table by the door, and hung his jacket on the coat stand, before kicking his shoes off and wriggling his toes with a sigh of relief.
“Bryce!”
“Ah!!” he screamed as his girlfriend ran over and jumped into his arms, hugging tightly.
“I missed you today.”
“I missed you too, honey” he yawned.
Georgia lead him to the couch and sat him down. “You relax here. Dinner is almost ready.” She said with a smile and kiss to his cheek before heading back to his kitchen. When she returned she was carrying a tray that had a massive bowl of rice and chicken on it.
“I’m too tired to lift a fork right now babe. I just got out of an 11 hour surgery and-”
“Stop right there. That’s why there’s only one bowl, I’m going to feed you because you need to eat.”
Bryce smiled with a small chuckle. “You’re going to make an amazing mother to our children one day. You know that?” He asked as he turned his head to look at her, suddenly feeling more alert when he registered how serious her expression had turned. “Is... Is that what you wanted to talk about?”
“Yeah...”
Georgia placed the tray on the coffee table and sat next to him as he sat forwards and turned his body to face her, and they took each other’s hands.
“Is there something wrong? Are you unable to have them? Because that doesn’t matter if that’s the problem, we can adopt. There’s hundreds of children looking for loving homes. And.”
“Bryce. Will you shut up for one minute and let me talk?” she asked as she cocked an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah. Of course, sorry. I just.”
“It’s okay. I understand. But I wanted to talk about it because I think I’m ready. To start trying for a child. That is.. if you are too?” she said with hopefulness in her tone.
Bryce looked at her as a silence stretched out between them, he watched in awed perplexation as she lightly bit her lower lip, internally asking himself if this was really happening and if he was ready for this step in their relationship too. After a while, Georgia started to get worried.
“Babe? ... B-Bryce?” she asked, her voice loud in the silence bringing Bryce back to the present moment. He looked down at their hands held in one another’s a small smile creeping onto his features as hot tears of emotion pricked his eyes. He looked up to be met with her green orbs sparkling with a mix of emotions as he cleared his throat.
“Yeah.” He nodded, squeezing her hands. “I’m ready too.”
Time seemed to stop in that moment for them yet still go on around them as they hugged tightly whispering sweet nothings to each other and shared kisses that were equally as sweet. They shared the bowl of food and washed it down with their favourite drinks before they both headed to bed, exhausted from their days.
Two months after their discussion, Bryce and Georgia started trying seriously for a child. Soon the days turned to weeks, weeks to months and months to almost a full year until the morning of his 33rd birthday Bryce was woken up by an ear-piercing scream. He flew out of bed and into the bathroom where he found Georgia on the floor crying, and spotted a pregnancy test on the side. He walked over and risked peaking at it, breath catching in his throat as he saw it.
“Babe...” he said quietly as he crouched beside her and pulled her into a hug. Tears glistening his eyes too. Georgia couldn’t manage any words that morning as they got ready and made their way to work other than what food she wanted from the coffee shop as they stopped off on their way to Edenbrook. When they reached the hospital they stopped in the atrium and took a seat on a bench close to the main doors.
“How are you feeling?” Bryce asked
“.... Shocked. I...”
Bryce smiled and squeezed her hand tightly, conveying he knew exactly how she felt with his touch and the look he gave her.
“I wasn’t ready to see a positive after so many negatives. I just. I can hardly process my thoughts. I... How are you feeling?” she asked back looking into his eyes only to be met with a warm, excited smile.
“Honestly. Pretty great, this is like, the best birthday present ever.”
Georgia froze as she suddenly remembered what day it was.
“Ohmygosh. I’m so sorry, I’d planned to cook breakfast for you and everything. Not wake you up by screaming and crying on your bathroom floor.”
“It’s fine babe, honestly. But I have been meaning to talk to you about us too.”
“You have?”
Bryce nodded, uncertainty clouding his eyes for a brief moment before being replaced by his trademark happiness. “I’ve been thinking maybe we should move in together now. I mean, we’re taking the step of having a child, so it only makes sense we live in the same place now instead of separately. Which has been torturous for me by the way.” He said teasingly.
Georgia smiled at him. “We should give it thought for today and talk it over in more detail tonight after work, back at my place.”
“Yeah, sure. No problem.”
They both leaned forward for a kiss, but it was cut short at the sound of a familiar voice ringing out through the atrium.
“VALENTINE!”
Georgia cringed at the sound of Dr. Ramsey’s voice and pulled away with a sigh. “Sorry. I should.. get going.” She whispered.
“Okay. Come. Find me. Later.” Bryce said with a smile, kissing her between each word.
Georgia gave him a smile and returned his kisses before taking her bag and following her boss up to the office to start her day at work.
Inside the office before the morning consult started, Dr. Ramsey rounded on the young doctor.
“You’ve had all morning to suck face rookie, I suggest if you want to do it for longer that you give up your spot for someone who will value it and not act with such reckless abandon.”
“Are you a female, Dr. Ramsey?”
“I’m sorry?” He asked, everyone looking at Georgia confused.
“Are you a female? Did you find out this morning that your pregnant? Is it your boyfriends birthday? And last but certainly not least, is the topic of later discussion with your boyfriend already in your mind? In other words... Are you walking amongst the clouds this morning, Dr. Ramsey?”
“I-”
“You’re pregnant?! Congratulations.” Baz exclaimed happily, wrapping her in a hug. “I’m going to be an uncle, can you believe it?!”
“I’m sure Zaid is going to be thrilled.” A stuck up voice said
“Excuse me. Zaid Mirani is very good with children and not half as bad as he portrays himself.” Georgia said defensively to the posh, stuck up woman who had replaced June’s spot on the team.
“And for future reference, you address Dr. Ramsey with respect as he dese-”
“I suggest you, Dr. Portavia, address the members of my team who have been here longer than you with respect. Including myself. Dr. Valentine is well within her rights to talk to me as she was. We have somewhat of a friendship outside of these walls, I take the boss position too harshly sometimes in moments where I shouldn’t. Now. If we are done with the arguments?”
The team sat around the table. Baz next to Georgia as always and 2 seats left empty between themselves and Dr. Portavia as Dr. Ramsey briefed the team on their new patient.
---
Consumed by the busyness of her day and lost in the amount of tasks she had to do, Georgia completely lost track of time until she ran into Bryce and saw him in his regular clothes.
“Hey babe.” She greeted with a smile and quick kiss before turning to her patients chart she had placed on the desk of the nurses station.
“Hey.” Bryce said back with a yawn. “How are you?”
“Pretty good. Today is hectic but I’d be lying if that wasn’t one of the aspects of this job that excites me.”
“Today? Honey, when was the last time you sat down?”
“In the diagnostics office after I left you this morning.”
“Have you eaten?”
“Yes. I’ve had a cereal bar that was in my pocket. Other than that I’ve just been keeping my water intake way up. ... Not really had the chance to stop for longer than 2 minutes.”
“And... what day is it?”
Georgia gave a chuckle. “It’s your birthday silly.” But her expression fell as she took in the serious look of concern on Bryce’s face. “Wh-what is it?”
“It’s 4:27am of the day after my birthday.”
“What? No it’s not.”
“Georgia. I’ve been waiting at your place for you all night.”
“But...”
“No buts. You’re clocking out and coming home with me. Now.”
Georgia sighed as she felt sadness and a pang of guilt radiate in her chest. She’d missed her boyfriend’s birthday completely, and now she felt completely rotten.
“Oh. O-okay then. I’ll just... get my... stuff.” She stuttered before heading off to the locker room. Bryce flagging down a nearby nurse and asking them to keep an eye on all of her patients. On their way out they passed Ethan coming into the hospital. He stopped in his tracks as he heard Bryce’s hushed words towards Georgia.
“...you’re pregnant now. You can’t pull almost 24 hour shifts and survive on cereal bars and water anymore. You need to take care of 2 people now.”
Equal parts intrigued and worried, Ethan called out to them.
“Valentine. Lahela.”
Georgia and Bryce stopped in their tracks and turned to him.
“Hey Eth- Dr. Ramsey.” Georgia said sweetly whilst Bryce gave a curt nod to the attending.
“Are you only now going home?” Ethan asked
“I uh...”
“She is. Though I don’t see why it concerns you.” Bryce said coolly
“Bryce. He’s my boss.”
“Right.”
An intense awkward moment passed between the three of them as Bryce stared as Ethan with his chest puffed out, holding Georgia’s hand protectively. They all knew why, but Bryce needn’t worry. Ethan was aware that Georgia didn’t reciprocate his feelings towards her in a romantic way and they were contently settled on being friends. That didn’t stop Bryce from being protective of what was his though, he felt it was his duty to protect her from other bachelors. Young or old.
It was Ethan who broken the silence. “Right, well um. Take the day off and rest properly. I’ll see you tomorrow Valentine.” He said with a soft smile and single nod before heading to the elevators, Bryce walking out to his car still protectively holding Georgia’s hand. When they got back to her apartment Bryce carried Georgia up to her front door, only placing her on her feet to open the door before picking her up again and taking her inside and straight to her bed.
“Keep your butt planted here, I’ll heat up your dinner.”
“Okay.”
Bryce turned quickly and made his way to the kitchen so that Georgia wouldn’t see the worry in his eyes. When he came back with a plate full of steaming hot food, he found the bed empty.
“Babe?” he sighed, placing the plate on the bedside table
“Yeah?”
Bryce turned around and saw Georgia behind him.
“I thought I told you to keep your butt on the bed?”
“I needed to pee.”
“... so?”
“So I went. I wasn’t going to pee my bed Bryce.”
Bryce sighed with dejected tiredness. “Just. Eat your dinner, I’ll come by later or sometime tomorrow and we can talk about moving in together then okay?”
“You... aren’t going to stay?”
“I have a shift that starts in an hour and a half. I can’t.”
“Oh. Okay. Well um, see you later. I love you!” Georgia called out as Bryce moved past her and out of the front door. Guilt settled in Georgia’s chest as she heard the door close behind him, her ‘I love you.’ left unreturned.
--- The Next Day ---
It was late in the afternoon the next day and Georgia was half way through her rounds when she bumped into someone’s chest as she rounded a corner.
“Oh! Sor- Oh. Bryce.” She said as she turned her gaze to the floor and maneuvered around him and carried on her way. She hadn’t seen or heard from him since he left her in her apartment to head to work the previous morning, so she knew to avoid him. It had always been that way for her, she had a good relationship with someone, things went great, then she got carried away with something she loves to do and makes them mad, they don’t talk to her, she avoids them. So when Bryce caught her arm gently and pulled her back, it took her by surprise and her breath hitched.
“I have work to do. I need to get to the lab.” She said professionally never meeting his gaze.
“I’ll walk with yo-”
“No. I’m internal medicine. You’re a surgeon. There’s no reason we need to be walking together unless we’re heading to the same patient room.”
“I’m also your boyfriend.”
“Are you? Because the last time I checked, even if a boyfriend is mad with their other half, they at least send them a message saying hey, hoping their okay and ending it with I love you. Which by the way, you never returned. So if you’ll excuse me, I have to get some run-ups done on these blood samples.” Georgia huffed as she turned on her heel and stomped towards the labs.
“Georgia!” Bryce called out as he chased her through the halls.
“Just leave me alone, Bryce.”
“Would you just talk to me for a second and tell me what’s wrong?!”
Georgia halted to an abrupt stop.
“I told you what’s wrong Bryce. You’ve not text me back, you’ve ignored my calls and you never returned my ‘I love you.’ yesterday. I’m pregnant with your goddamn child and you’re acting like one all because I lost track of time and almost worked 24 hours! I get that could have endangered the baby but I’m a doctor, Bryce. I was going to eat a proper meal as soon as I got home.”
“And when was that going to be?”
“As soon as I’d filled in those charts and said goodnight to my patients. I was 20 minutes from being done for the day when you dragged me away.”
“I did not drag you!”
“I’m not saying you physically dragged me.”
“Then what are you saying?”
Georgia just gave him a look and just like he had done to her, walked away from him without another word, leaving Bryce to throw his arms up in exasperation before heading back to work. Soon months had passed, and Georgia was now 7 months pregnant. She and Bryce got over there little bump and had made the decision to move into a 3 bed house close to Edenbrook, which they had both gotten the day off of work to move into properly. Georgia watched from the top of the stairs as Bryce carried in the last box from his car, kicking the door shut behind him. Feeling her gaze on him, he looked up flashing his trademark grin with a wink.
“Like what you see?”
“What I see impregnated me, sooo..”
“Fair point.” He chuckled then pointed to the box. “Last one. Where’s it going? It’s not labelled.”
“In our bedroom.” Georgia smiled before heading towards the nursery to carry on clicking the pieces of the plastic drawers that would hold the toys together. She was clicking the wheels in place when Bryce came in the room smiling at her.
“What?” Georgia asked with a brow raised in curiosity.
“Nothing. I just feel like a proper adult now. I have a job, a beautiful girlfriend, we have a baby on the way and we just got our first place together.” He said, sitting next to her and pulling her to his chest as he leant back on the wall. Georgia smiling up at him. “Yeah. It does feel pretty great doesn’t it?” she smiled. They stayed there in the spot for a while, just looking out of the window and watching the trees swaying in the wind before carrying on with building, and setting things up. After a long day moving into their new house, they settled into bed after enjoying a warm bubble bath together, excited for the day they would be able to finally meet their bundle of joy.

A Traitor to The Country
This was requested by the wonderful @fortune-fool02, I hope you enjoy this and thank you so much for once again requesting!
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run
Gyro Zeppeli x Valentine’s Daughter!Reader
Summary: You had your suspicions about the Steel Ball Run race and those suspicions only grew once you entered said race. However your travels almost come to an end when your biggest secret is revealed.
Notes: Spoilers for Part 7
The Steel Ball Run race was no ordinary race as it was filled with unexpected and dangerous events that forced the unfit racers to retire early on. Every day survival was the main objective and the constant enemy stand attacks kept you on edge the entire time. You had your suspicions about the race from the very beginning and your father’s desire to keep you far away from it led you to believe that the race had a deeper purpose. And your desire to find out exactly what that purpose was, caused you to sneak out of the watchful eyes of your father and join Steel Ball Run.
You had to stay cautious not only due to the dangerous mystery surrounding the true purpose of the race but also because you absolutely had to keep your identity hidden as your father would follow the course of the race, keeping his eyes on the thing he was pursuing, which you later found out to be the Holy Corpse. Still, you had to thank your father for not allowing you to appear in public too much. Valentine preferred to keep his personal life and relations hidden away to maintain his strong presence as the President and thanks to this, you could somewhat rest easy knowing that the common folk wouldn’t be able to recognize you.
And fortunately for you the two males you found yourself traveling with, Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli, didn’t know of your true identity and that’s how it was supposed to be. All they needed to know was that you were an ally helping them to find the corpse parts. The only thing you cared about was keeping the Holy Corpse away from your father as during the race you had quickly realized just how much blood he was willing to shed as the assassins he sent out were more than willing to put an end to the three of you.
Leaving your usual boring surroundings also gave you an opportunity to feel an immense sensation of freedom as well as a feeling of thrill and excitement you had never experienced. Even though your mission was under quite grim circumstances, you had to admit, this was.. Refreshing. Being in Johnny and Gyro’s company was definitely delightful, though you found yourself growing closer with the latter.
Gyro was.. Interesting, to say the least. You weren’t even sure why he attracted you so much, but there was just something about him that caught your eye. He was cocky, reckless and sometimes downright rude, but one thing was clear, he was determined to get his hands on the corpse and you had promised to help him in any way you could. However you could never let him know about your relation to the President as you were sure the Italian would not take the news well. And that thought of him finding out scared you more than you thought.
~
The heavy rain poured on you, the thunder distantly rumbling around you and the two males. Blackmore’s heavy breathing could be heard even through the piercing sound of the rain, the man laying on the ground with blood spilling from his fresh wounds, his stand that took the form of a mask, shattered. He would die soon. You glance over at Lucy, who was crying uncontrollably, seemingly traumatized from the recent events. Poor girl. You were fortunate that she hadn’t recognized your features that you were hiding under a hood, but still, your heart was hammering in your chest, an uneasy feeling slowly absorbing you.
Blackmore spits out more blood, which makes your eyes look at him. So this was yet another stand user your father had sent after you? They were getting more and more powerful and you already dreaded the thought of having to fight more of them or even your father himself.
The uneasy feeling bugging you only increases when your father’s henchman locks his eyes with yours, immediately making something ignite within them. “Y-you..” His trembling hand stretches and points at you, making your eyes widen. No. Please no. You grab the edge of your hood and pull it, in an attempt to hide your face more. This doesn’t seem to work though as the man before you continues his attempt to utter words:
“Th-the President’s.. d-daughter.. i-is-” Suddenly, the loud sound of a gunshot rips through the air and Blackmore finally goes limp, blood leaking from the new would on his head. The three others look at you, shock plastered across their features. Your hand that holds the pistol is trembling, smoke rising from the muzzle and your breathing is almost as heavy as the now fading rain once was. Your heart is pounding so hard it feels as if it’s about to rip through your ribcage. This was bad. Your secret had just been revealed and you know for a fact Gyro had heard those quiet words of the now deceased man.
“What he hell did he just say?!” Gyro looks at you, but you’re unable to look back at him as you’re too focused on processing what just had happened. A sudden breeze blows your hood away almost intentionally, revealing your features that you’re sure the blonde girl next to you recognizes. Your guess is confirmed to be true when you hear her quiet gasp.
“You’re.. (Name) Valentine. President Valentine’s daughter.” Lucy’s words painfully pierce you and your identity is revealed and confirmed to Johnny and Gyro. Your eyes quickly move to look at the Italian, his enraged and shocked expression painfully burning your insides. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be.
“So you’re telling me that you are that asshole’s daughter?! Look at me and tell me that’s not true (Name)!” Gyro’s voice is mixed with disbelief and anger, twisting your stomach in increasing anxiety. Your mouth stays shut and you can already feel the tears start to form in your (E/C) eyes. If only you could say that it was not true but no words come out of your mouth, only increasing Gyro’s frustration.
“Gyro.. Please.. I’m sorry..” Why didn’t you tell him? Why didn’t you just tell him? It would’ve at least been better than this. He was angry, not only about the fact that you were related to his biggest enemy but also because you had kept all of it a secret from him. Gyro felt betrayed and being lied to was definitely something he didn’t tolerate well. How was he supposed to know that you weren’t going to kill him and Johnny?
“Sorry?! Yeah, now you’re sorry ‘cause your little secret has finally been revealed!” Hearing his words only increase the amount of guilt you feel, your fast heartbeat ringing in your ears like a loud bell. You can’t say anything. What can you say? Sorry? That didn’t seem to work. You understand Gyro’s anger and can only blame yourself for causing it. A part of you just wishes to disappear and retreat back to your normal life. No. You can’t just give in. You have gotten this far and you had to do something.
“I never meant any harm! Please Gyro, I just want to make sure the corpse doesn’t end up in my father’s hands!” Your promise to help Gyro was genuine and you were determined to keep your promise. You would never do anything to harm him or Johnny and right now, the true challenge was convincing Gyro that you were not an enemy as the understandably probably thought.
“My father is a horrible person and I will not allow him to get the corpse.” You force your tears away and replace them with a determined gaze you without a doubt inherited from your father and focus that gaze on the Italian. “He may think his actions are those of justice but he has spilled far too much innocent blood and I refuse to just stand by and do nothing!” Gyro stays quiet and those tiny flecks of anger were still more than apparent in his emerald green eyes but the good thing is that he’s listening to you and hopefully also believing your words.
“So please, Gyro.. Let me stay by your side..” It was thanks to Gyro and Johnny that you had been able to get this far and if they were to abandon you now, you would never be able to accomplish your mission. You wanted to help them. Help him.
Gyro looks at you and notices your unrelenting gaze that seems to drill itself into the deepest parts of his mind. He recalls the time he met you and remembers you holding that same look in your eyes, only now it seems much more intense. You had shown no signs of aggression and he has never felt unsafe when around you. If you were an enemy, you would have already killed them. He has always deemed himself to be good at reading people and right now, your expression holds no signs of malice or wickedness.
With a sigh, he mounts Valkyrie yet again and returns his gaze to you. “We should get going. If you want to keep those corpse parts out of your father’s reach, you have to find the parts first.” When your face lits up in utter disbelief Gyro can’t help but to crack a small smile. He always felt strange warmth coating his insides whenever you were happy or excited and this time was no exception. You mount (Horse’s name) and look at Gyro once again, eternally grateful for allowing you to continue your travels with him and Johnny. You were a traitor to your father and your country, but you had promised yourself to not let anything deter you.
Even though Gyro was frustrated just a moment ago, he’s delighted to realize that you were nothing like your father and secretly hopes to see you surpass him and hopefully kick his ass as you had just shown how well you can wield a gun.
..Or maybe the latter is something he’d do himself.

2x14 High Fiving a Million Angels (But Still Not Lady Angels)
I wrote a post a few months ago about how Shadowhunters was finally starting to find its feet and all signs were pointing to 2B being the point where the show would come into it’s own and really be something.
And I finally feel like I was right. after 2x14.
This was a great episode, it promised that the flashes of social concious the show focused on in 2x13 weren’t just filler to make Clary look good, but real problems in both the world and the narrative of the show that the show intends to deal with. It also managed to finally deliver strong character moments and not choke itself with action for once. While overall it was really strong, it still failed it’s female characters, but it’s not like I’m shocked anymore.
I think Alec, Luke and Maryse had the strongest episode, with Sebastian as a runner up.
Alec finally becoming Head of the Institute was written perfectly. He understands the issue, but not perfectly. He starts the downworld council, but all of the participants are quick to remind him that they’ve seen this sort of empty gesture from the Clave before, and Alec is unable to actually deliver what those downworld leaders want, despite his openness, because the Clave won’t budge.
They also show that he’s going to face resistance from the rank and file shadhowhunters, who don’t think it’s appropriate for him to bring downworlders into their place, assume its because he’s fucking a downworlder, and expect him to fail.
We also get to see just how much he wants this and how much work  and thought he’s putting into it. He’s in a suit this entire episode. He’s dressing the part of Head of Institute. He puts in a call to Magnus to establish boundaries in this new arena for them and their relationship. He’s measured and careful and thoughtful with everything he says, (though I do think Matthew Daddario made the professionalism feel a little wooden) and he brings in Izzy, who he knows has stronger personal relationships with the more resistant members of his proposed cabinet, Meliorn and Raphael.
Plus the exchange with Maryse about baby Alec seriously writing crayon memos was gold.
Luke shows up hard as pack leader in this episode, he’s the perfect character to refuse to let the Clave off without a concession, and Isaiah Mustafa carries his indignation at the whole situation so perfectly. The writing is strong here too, with Luke’s episode arc of demanding concessions from the Clave, not getting them, and seeking his own revenge against Valentine because he knows the Clave will never give in to Downworld demands (also, holy foreshadowing from Raphael last week, let’s hope that goes somewhere). The way they heightened that with his interactions with Maryse was also gold.
Maryse is getting the redemption arc that I have been desperate for for 14 episodes. I am pretty salty that they’ve dropped her into the plot twice to work on that instead of giving this story line more time to breathe, especially since no one is acknowledging that Aldertree is to blame for Izzy’s addiction, so nothing he did meant anything and he was a pointless waste of time and Maryse could have been playing his role the whole time if Shadhowhunters didn’t hate women so much.
I like that they are actually using Robert’s affair to mean something. Maryse was betrayed and hurt by someone she thought loved her, and now she’s seeing herself in a new light because of it, and that barrier between herself and her children and her old friends is starting to break down.
Her scene with Izzy is easily the best scene of the episode. She’s seeing Izzy as her daughter instead of her legacy and is actually thinking about how things effect Izzy emotionally, like her knowing about Robert’s affair, and how the way Maryse raised Izzy could have made her more susceptible to a yin-fen addiction.
Her scene with Luke is also perfectly placed. She’s not only starting to think about how she raised her children, and her homophobia, she’s given real thought to the tremendously anti-downworlder things she did in the past, and we even see her look genuinely surprised that the Clave wouldn’t let Luke attend Jocelyn’s funeral.
I love that they have her starting to reach out to Alec, but that her lines about how proud of him she actually is are delivered to other people. She tells Izzy that it’s good that Alec fought for love for himself. She tells Luke that Alec’s idea for a downworld council is wonderful. She knows that the divide between she and Alec is too wide and deep right now and she needs to approach him carefully.
Her scene with Alec is still about duty and legacy. She’s excited that Alec is head of the Institute... but she’s not going to divorce Robert because she doesn’t want to risk the Lightwood legacy.
Sebastian is givin this fantastic one episode development from seemingly sweet and caring, to creepily over involved, to ‘don’t forget he’s a psycho’ and it plays so well against the rest of the episode. Will and Nicola have the same skill for giving you a ton of emotion and subtext in their eyes.
But There Were A Lot of Things That Sucked Here Too
But at least not all of them are Clary This Time
Izzy Nonsense
The two men vying for Izzy’s affection in this episode, could have done their whole schtick for the episode without her being there at all. Sebastian telling Raphael to back off when he’s known him for a hot minute and only sees him as a source of venom out there corrupting sweet Innocent, helpless to stop herself Isabelle is shitty (also... ALDERTREE IS TO BLAME HERE. BAD SHADOWHUNTER, NOT BAD VAMP). And then Raphael’s whole matyr thing rubs me the wrong way too. Everyone is always talking about Izzy being so strong and such a good shadowhunter and blah blah blah... and for the last like ten episodes she is only allowed to be strong as an addict. They don’t let her be strong as a person. It sucks. I’m over it.
And like... neither Sebastian nor Raphael are wrong, I get that, but I want to watch a show where Isabelle gets to make that decision, instead of the dude’s penising in and dickily deciding, with great turtleneck bishopry, that only they can save Izzy... from herself.
That scene also sucked because Raphael is a bad choice beyond just the yin fen thing. He hid Isabelle’s phone from her when her family needed her. If someone takes your phone away, and cuts you off from your family... you do not date them. You kick them in the nads until they puke.
Clary Nonsense
I imagine that the original first scene from this episode was cut, and went like this:
(Alec and Magnus shirtless in bed together)
Alec: One of the first things I’m doing as head of the Institute is getting Clary in some Seelie Politics training. The queen wants to see her and I can’t have her insulting someone and starting a war.
Magnus: What’s the point? She won’t listen anyway and she’ll yell at someone else when it goes wrong.
Alec: All experience tells me you’re right.
Magnus: Doi. Let’s make out.
FIN
Clary’s position as POV character who can see how the rules of the magical society aren’t fair doesn’t work if none of those rules ever affect her in anyway. She needs to be able to hear that Jace speaks to the queen very formally, and at least try to play along. She’s been in the world long enough to know that maybe dragging an uninvited guest to see a queen, is a bad plan. And her line about the Seelie Queen looking prepubescent was just stupid. Why do the writers need me to believe that that main character is stupid?
She also suffers the same fate as Isabelle, where the menfolk are so much better at everything than her, and half to make her decisions. She’s shadowhunter, but her vampire boyfriend can’t let her go off alone. It’s not safe. Blah blah blah. No agency for women, Shadowhunters hates women.
We all knew the stupid kiss was coming, and Clary’s inability to realize that like... something wasn’t about her somehow was deeply annoying, but I did like that the kiss was actually used to drive home a political point. The Seelie Queen has been around as long as the rest of the immortal downworlders who all know that Shadowhunters don’t respect them, and don’t keep their promises.
I am insanely pissed off that when Isabelle came into Clary’s room to talk about her feelings for once, they got steamrolled by Clary’s long list of stupid decisions when Isabelle has like... real problems.
Simon Nonsense
Simon is a better character than this episode made him out to be. He should know he doesn’t need to defend Clary, his insecurity about her being alone with Jace is just gross, and for the love of God the last time he didn’t listen to Shadowhunters he was turned into a fucking vampire. Come on, Lewis.
Watching Reactions:
Boo New Intro. Go Away. Boo
Yay. Hopeuflly this flashback means more Jaia. Here for it.
It’s too bad the official instrument of brooding isn’t more portable.
Hmmm... I wonder if the resentment of the only extras who get lines will go anywhere.
Nice Suit, Mr. Lightwood
I love that “Book Club” is Jace’s code for casual sex and Alec and Izzy both know it.
Clary is incapable of not fucking this up. Maybe Max can teach her things about Seelies. She is too dumb for this mission.
Alec and Luke! A Real Plot! Awesome!
Boo. Simon you are better than this.
I am LIVING for this complicated Maryse. This is everything I’ve wanted since 1x12
Goddamn it Clary and Simon. You are both better than this. I’m tired of hating you.
I’m very invested in where they go with Sebastian. It feels like it’s going to be good.
The fire message is cool. I didn’t expect it to be cool.
I’m actually not into this vision of the Seelie Realm. Very Renfest. The books made it a lot more menacing.
Whats wrong with Meliorn’s face?
Izzy is politcally important! Yay!
This scene between Sebastian and Raphael, while a disaster, Izzy wise, is really well acted. Will is bringing David up a lot.
Fuck you Clary. You’re fucking simon. Where Jace is putting his dick is none of your business. You fucking hypocrite.
Leader Luke! Leader Luke!
Ha. The thing is it totally makes sense for all of them to look the same to Meliorn. There have been so many lines about Jace looking like the rest of the Herondales, and he and Sebastian do look pretty similar, and Meliorn’s been alive long enough for them to just all run into “Blond and Tall” “Red Head” “Loud and Angry Blonde”.
Raphael, this is really not your place.
Sooo... does this cut prove that Sebastian isn’t the voice?
Maryse Redemption!
This episode is great, Clary’s had sic lines. Coincidence?
Boo. She’s talking more. Sigh.
Really Clary? Jace is dying and you gotta kick him like this?
This is too much kissing for the least engaging plot line. No matter how much pathos Dom puts into this it’s still too stupid a plot and he’s carying it all alone.
Don’t yell at the queen, dumbass.
Mother Daughter Scene! Mother Daughter scene! This is the best.
Bad Ass Luke!
The outcome of this whole Sebastian plot has better be political disruption. It is too fucking late in the game to write this time of story about romance.
I like the pointedness of Alec moving the chair. Everything from the type of chair to the way the shot is structure to how the characters are facing emphasises that Alec is not Imogen, and he did not come down here to torture a downworlder.
Alec gets the politics! Alec is good at this!
He... stole your phone to keep you in his lair while your family was facing death. He is a bad person. He is not for dating. Why are the writers allergic to letting Izzy make good choices about men?
Don’t let her in Simon! Never let her in!
I am so excited that Clary might have to learn that consquences exist. It must come as such a shock to her.
Are you fucking kidding me? How does this scene end up about Clary? Isabelle has real problems and Clary doesn’t even know about them because she’s been so selfish, and now... Izzy just has to drop all of that because Clary has a self-imposed sad? Fuck this.
Hot Damn. That’s what I call an ending.

Entanglement
Jikook, 1.8k, romance/UST aristocrats AU sequel(?) to Double Bind
Jeon realizes he wasn’t seeking to break perfection, but rather to have it for himself.
A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day @jikook-love ! Here’s to the AU we will never write (or at least you aren’t writing it; look at me doing all the work). I’m just pretending you didn’t ruin my plans for posting something today. Also it’s the backseat AU you’ve been requesting so much OTL
Jungkook tries not to fidget as he sits in the back of the limo with his nemesis, his archenemy, the leader of the Park Family, Park Jimin. His suit is just as uncomfortable as the silence between them, and as much as he tries not to shift around, he tries not to steal any glances at the man either. Jimin and his perfectly styled hair and his perfectly shined shoes and his perfect bowtie. As usual, there isn’t the slightest trace of the imperfection, and that’s fine; Jungkook doesn’t want to think about what happened the last time they met.
The silence between them stretches with only the sound of the limo’s engine humming in the background. His driver may have obeyed his instructions without hesitation, but some part of him couldn’t help thinking that this entire situation was odd. He didn’t think he’d see Jimin ever again until the wedding or some other family event, but here the head of the Park Family was, sitting right next to him, just as he’d requested from Jungkook a few days ago.
“Let’s call it off.”
“What?” Jungkook doesn’t believe his ears. The perfect Park Jimin would never even speak before planning his every word, never mind making such a rash decision like this. There’s a queasy feeling growing in his gut and none of this makes sense.
“Contrary to what the elders think, it would just be better if we stayed out of each other’s way.” It sounds harsher and more straightforward than Jimin’s usual tone; the change is absolutely jarring, and Jungkook doesn’t know what to make of it. He was the one wanting to see the leader of the Park Family finally crack under the pressure, but he never thought that it would lead to this kind of outcome.
“But—I don't—”
“I know you have the power to call it off. Even though you say you’re not the ‘official leader’, it’s clear that they’d never force something against your will.” Jimin doesn’t meet his gaze and opts to stare past him at the window, looking at the trees passing by, the fields—heck, who knows, maybe he’d even stare at Taehyung if he happened to somehow pop up outside. Jimin looked at everything but him. That’s how it always was: he never really saw him.
Jungkook purses his lips. “I really can’t.”
“Why are you denying it?” The clarity in Jimin’s eyes made it look like he was genuinely curious, like he actually didn’t understand at all. It was fitting, really, because he never did. “We both know that you could say one word and it’d all be over. It’d be like none of this ever happened.”
“Why are you changing your mind?” Jungkook decides to fire back. It doesn’t feel right; he’s supposed to hate Jimin for doing this, for agreeing to this whole marriage fiasco, for always choosing what is best for everyone. But for some reason, the feeling isn’t there anymore. “You’re the one who insisted on going along with this when they told you to. This shouldn’t even involve me.”
He doesn’t even know why he’s trying to stop Jimin when he should clearly want this more than anything else.
“I—” Jimin frowns, finally seemingly at a loss for words. “You’re right. This doesn’t involve you. This should just be my decision then. You never wanted this union of our families in the first place, and so now if I find myself agreeing with you, this whole thing should just be cancelled.”
No, it shouldn’t be.
Jungkook swallows, finding it difficult to maintain his usual hard exterior amidst the tension. “But why did you change your mind?”
The brunette sighs and stays silent for a moment before finally speaking. “I know how much you hate me and I don’t want to make your life more difficult by being in it.”
But I don’t hate you. The thought comes fast and strong, and Jungkook is taken by surprise.
“Then what about Taehyung?” he shoots again. “Did you ask him how he feels about all of this?”
“Taehyung… He deserves someone better who can truly love him.”
“And that person isn’t you?”
“No…” Jimin sighs once more. “Just call it off, Jungkook. Do this for me and we’ll never have to see each other again.”
“No.” He knows he’s just being stubborn now, but Jungkook just couldn’t let this happen. Something about what Jimin said irks him, and he’s not sure which part it is. The part about doing something for him? Or could it be never seeing him again…?
“Why are you refusing?” Jimin’s eyes dart around his, never lingering in his gaze for too long. He looks slightly agitated, slowly losing that perfectly put together appearance.
The way he isn’t directly answering makes Jungkook suspicious, and so he leans closer and questions him back, dauntingly. “Why do you think that you can’t be the one for him?”
Jimin’s eyes blaze. “I thought you were the one who never wanted to see me again.”
“I thought you guys were getting along just fine.” Jungkook shifts even closer, wanting to see the exact flash of vulnerability in Jimin’s eyes. He knows that he’s close to cracking him, to getting him to spill whatever secret he’d been keeping, and he relishes in the way he temporarily has control of the situation.
“Getting along doesn’t mean being in love with each other,” Jimin retorts.
“Not being in love doesn’t mean it can’t lead to love.”
“Not when you might be in love with someone else!”
Stillness.
It clings to the air after that outburst and the words replay in Jungkook’s mind because he’s afraid that he’d heard it wrong. Because there’s no way that the great Park Jimin could’ve said something like that. But Jimin looks him in the eye now, holding his gaze with defiance as if challenging him to say something back. Like he’s finally refuting all of Jungkook’s efforts to break him from the last time they’d met, and edging him on.
The tension between them overwhelms the narrow space of the limo. Jungkook keeps his hand on the seat beside him, knuckles whitening with how hard he was pressing them into the cool leather.
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing,” slips out of his mouth, but he makes no move to turn away. “You know what I’m talking about.”
“I don’t,” Jungkook presses again. “Tell me exactly what you want.”
“Don’t make me say it, Jeon.” There’s a low growl in his voice; a warning that contradicts his every movement as he shifts closer until both of them seem to be veering on the edge of something irrevocable, something precarious.
The heat running through his veins reminds Jungkook of what happened at the party, and a question flickers through his mind for the thousandth time. Maybe acknowledging it aloud had already made it the point of no return.
Would you rather it be you?
Once the observation has been made, two different states collapse into a definite answer. Time is a continuum. It doesn’t go back and you can’t unlearn the things you’ve learned. A single branch, a point in time, can change your perspective and perhaps the entire human experience from there onwards.
“Then show me.”
It’s Jimin’s hand that grazes his first, and he nearly jumps back. It was barely even a touch yet it burned, the feeling quickly filtering out all his other senses and crackle of electricity heating up the air between them.
He doesn’t expect it when Perfect Jimin’s the one who leans closer to him, when there’s that look in his eyes that says so much more than the glimpse through the crack of false pretenses and charming smiles. He wonders how long it’s been there underneath each formal handshake and bow, always lurking right below that front of absolute composure. He doesn’t expect to ever see this side of the Park leader, much less think he’d be the cause of this. But it didn’t matter anymore, because now there was no going back.
If he expected the brilliant feeling of victory because he’s won in a sense, all he’s left with now is a warmth settling in his gut. Satisfaction. No, it’s something else as well. Warm lips against lips immediately chase the thoughts away and melt the rest of the world away and Jimin’s scent is all too familiar and carries the reminisce of their last encounter. If he expected a cliché sweetness of a first love as kind as the brunette has let himself seem, he was met with a sense of need instead. Soft hands make their way to his jaw to deepen the angle, to his hair where they lightly tug and run through each strand, to his chest where they rest and burn through the fabric of his stiff shirt and make everything too hot.
The slip of distance between them and Jimin’s still too far until Jungkook pulls him onto himself. He doesn’t even realize he’s lying against the stretch of seats in the limo until his back is pressed into the cushion and he’s smothered in too many layers of clothes between him and the weight of Jimin on his stomach. Too many layers before his suit is finally being pushed off and yanked away, and with more freedom of movement does he start exploring the dips of Jimin’s body. It wasn’t like this last time and now’s the first time Jungkook’s really touched him this way. Whereas before he wanted to shatter the fragile image of perfection, to have it under his control and strip it until it’s raw and immeasurable, now he fleets his fingers over the fine details of the very definition of perfection—pure and untainted by the cold shield of mildly warm pleasantries.
A tentative grinding of hips has him biting down a moan and grasping for solid ground to stop from spinning into a whirlwind of pleasure.
But for a while, it’s okay. He lets himself want. He lets himself bask in Jimin’s warmth, a kind of warmth that chases away the shadows always lurking just at the corners. The knots of thread untangle on their own and the universe settles. It holds its breath in anticipation of where this branch will go, of what will happen in this one of many dimensions. With Jimin there, he quickly loses himself in the ecstasy for a while and doesn’t think about where his is, who he’s with, and what they’ll have to do next.
As much as the question had followed him around, plaguing his every thought with uncertainty, Jimin’s every touch seemed to suggest an answer.
It was Jimin’s answer to his own question.
Because I would. I’d rather it be you.

WHO → Eliza Oliver & Daniel Reece
WHEN → Tuesday, February 14th, 2017
WHERE → Oliver residence, a restaurant not in Lakewood, tbd.
NOTES → In progress. Backdated.
DANNY
Valentine’s Day was here now and Daniel swallowed hard as he tugged at the collar of his button up shirt. It wasn’t necessarily the same upper style that he had worn when he meant Eliza’s family, but it was still nicer than what he normally wore. He had been going back and forth on what exactly they were going to do and where he was going to take the girl for a week now and finally, it was time to see if his planning was actually going to be appreciated. Heading to the Oliver household was a short trip, but it at least gave him a little bit of time to go over the plan once again.
The knocking felt hollow almost as his fist hit the door and for a moment Danny felt as though he was going to throw up, but he knew good and well that it was only nerves. He was nervous. That thought made him chuckle softly; it was so rare that he was ever nervous this way. Girls rarely made him nervous this way and yet here was Eliza Oliver making his heart race and his palms sweat. As it got later, it got a little colder and Danny pulled at the jacket around him, this time wearing his leather jacket over to the Oliver household – wouldn’t her mother be pleased. When the door opened, Daniel smiled softly.
“Hey, you ready for our Valentine’s Day date?”
ELIZA
Eliza had never really celebrated Valentine’s Day before. She’d done friendship things and given valentines to people and had even participated in a carnation sale at school once, but she’d never had a boyfriend to celebrate with. This year was, of course, different. And for that Elizabeth Oliver was a little nervous.
Her one month anniversary with Danny had been the day before and she hadn’t been nervous then, so why was she nervous presently? She had no clue. But she had made sure to take extra care in making sure she looked nice that evening. Cute red lace dress: check. Warm leather jacket: check. Doubling up on tights because they lived in Colorado and it was winter: check. Hair and makeup: all good to go. Eliza felt that she looked super presentable by the time that her date with Danny had rolled around, but the nerves she had would just not go away. She knew that mere moments into seeing him she’d calm down (she tended to), but in the meantime she was pacing back and forth in front of her front door, her brother staring at her with a perplexed expression while she did so. “Why are you-“ he began to ask before Eliza heard a knock at the door and immediately moved to open it. “Ohhh,” Tanner concluded before rolling his eyes, Eliza barely registering that response then. She was entirely focused on the boy in front of her instead.
“Hey,” Eliza started, moving to immediately give her boyfriend a quick peck on the lips before a small smile appeared on her face as she stepped back and took Danny in. It was once she noticed the button down shirt that her smile grew even brighter. He only wore button down shirts when things were important. “I am very ready. And very much intrigued as to where we’re going,” she continued as she moved so that she could shut the door behind her. Her brother would no doubt lock it.
DANNY
Before she could close the door, Danny waved at Tanner quickly, having grown rather fond of the boy the more he hung around to watch Danny work. “See ya later buddy.” After though, his attention was completely on Eliza. The moment the door was closed, Danny turned towards her and smiled softly. “I’ve been wanting to do this all day.” Before she could question him, he softly pushed Eliza against the closed front door and pressed his lips against hers. One hand rested on her waist while the other cupped her face as he held her into the kiss. It wasn’t as if it had been a long amount of time since he had seen the girl – just the day before in fact – but that didn’t matter. All he had been thinking about all day was actually having a chance to have her in his arms.
Danny kept in the kiss as long as he could until he was sure he would pass out had he kept in it any longer. Breaking the kiss, a soft moan left Danny that made his cheeks redden just a bit. “You look…amazing, babe.” His hand moved up her side then his fingers ran up over the sleeve of her own leather jacket. The leather felt amazing under his fingertips and once again Danny told himself that it had been a good idea to get Eliza the jacket as he certainly enjoyed the view of her in it. Taking a step back, he got a better look at the girl before the corner of his mouth rose into another smile.
Suddenly, Danny began to dig into his own jacket pocket, wanting to give Eliza her gift before he completely forgot to do so. “I know you didn’t want me to get you anything else, but I couldn’t help myself. Yesterday was our one-month and then today is Valentine’s Day. I couldn’t just ignore it.” He pulled out a small box and a card, handing them both to the girl with a smile and cheerful brightness in his eyes.
ELIZA
Thank god no one was about to open her front door because no one in Eliza’s immediate family needed to catch her making out with her boyfriend. And that was definitely a thing happening right then. Unexpected, but very much accepted. There was zero hesitation from Eliza as she reacted to the kiss, a quick intake of breath happening as she hit the door (lightly) before her arms wrapped around his neck, one hand going into his hair, to keep him close as they kissed. And kissed. And kept kissing. It wasn’t excessive, but by the time Danny pulled away Eliza was breathless and a little pouty that they’d stopped. But clearly he hadn’t exactly wanted to stop either. “You look amazing too. Nice shirt,” she commented genuinely before her surprise at Danny’s gifts became clear. Of course he would get her something. He had given her a jacket on his birthday. She should have been expecting something. But she really wasn’t.
“You really didn’t have to do that,” she protested before her curiosity got the best of her and she reached out to take the gifts. “I did get something for you too, though. I mean, I made it, but still,” Eliza explained, moving the card and gift from him to one hand before reaching down to open her bag and grab the card and small wrapped craft she’d worked on with Melody the previous day. Eliza had no idea if he’d use any of the coupons in the little booklet, but figured it was the thought that counted. He deserved to know that he got one viewing of Fight Club with absolutely zero complaints or questioning of the plot. She had tried to cover everything from robot battles to hot chocolate to sneaking out on a school night to attend a horrible function with him and his family (that one was an unlimited coupon), so as long as he read things he’d kind of get an understanding of the (seemingly endless) amount of things she’d be up for doing. There were also a couple of coupons that she didn’t exactly want anyone else seeing either…
A little nervously, Eliza held out her gifts to Danny, waiting until he had them in his hands before she moved to open the card first. Might as well open the gifts right then so they wouldn’t be at all on her mind that evening. Grinning at the outside of the card, the contents only shifted the expression on Eliza’s face from one of amusement to a tender one of appreciation. “I love it,” she told him as she looked up at him before turning her attention to what was clearly a locket. Unless the card was lying or that was a secret part two present. Carefully opening the gift, a knowing look came across her features then. The card was right in its assumption that she might try and refuse it. “You really didn’t have to get me anything. Like you, I am just fine with a card,” she insisted before carefully taking the delicate chain into her hands. “But I will, of course, accept it. Because you covered that in your card. And I love this one too,” she concluded before putting the necklace on herself. Looking up at Danny once she had it on, she watched to see what his reaction to his card (and gift) would be. Or if he’d even open them right then. He didn’t have to. No pressure whatsoever.
DANNY
Though he didn’t expect a gift, Danny was hardly surprised that he had been given one. Eliza had told him that he was not able to get out of presents forever. He did, however, appreciate the fact that the gift was homemade. Opening the card, he smiled before shaking his head and leaning in to press a quick kiss against Eliza’s cheek. “I know I can always count on you to be the cutest one in this relationship.” Though he didn’t know if Eliza actually understood how much he appreciated the cards she gave him, he knew that it would go with the others to be saved and looked at whenever he needed a gentle reminder that someone cared about him. Of course, to anyone else, it probably looked silly or like an obsession that he kept each card the girl gave to him, but he didn’t care. They were simply pleasant reminders that Eliza felt the need to personalize something for him and that meant something special.
Then came the gift. Opening it didn’t take him long nor did it take him long to realize they were coupons. Flipping through them brought a smile to his face when he saw that one was for a cup of hot chocolate date while others were coupons to get him out of the hell that was his parents’ company. Then Danny got to another small set of coupons that made the tips of his ears turn red before slowly looking up at Eliza. His innocent Eliza was there before him after handing him a book of coupons that included some less than innocent suggestions.
“I um – wow I – this is.” Words escaped him as he continued to flip through them, his face growing even redder the more he read. “These are – wow.” Certainly he would be using the cute ones to exchange in for a date, but it was the later ones that made Danny blush and smile. At least, he was smiling until he remembered what exactly the future held for them if he cashed in any of the tickets for that special time with Eliza. “These are great, Eliza. I love them. I love you. It’s cute. I’ll for sure have to use that hot chocolate one soon.” Leaning in, he gave her a quick peck far different than the kiss they had shared before and he was smiling once again. Still, the thought of his task lingered in the back of his mind.
ELIZA
“Debatable,” Eliza was quick to contest, at the same time pleased that Danny seemed to have liked the card. Caleb had let it slip once that Danny had kept the ones she had previously given him, so she had been putting extra thought into the ones she’d given him lately. And it wasn’t like the things she had written weren’t true. She firmly stood behind every word contained in the card she’d given him that evening, and she had no doubt she’d stand behind anything she’d said previously. Or would say in the future. She never lied in her cards… she just sort of word-vomited nice truths.
As soon as Danny began to open his actual gift, Eliza made sure her eyes were trained on him. She wanted to see his reaction to everything, from the cute ones to the more ‘not exactly safe for work’ ones. She had been sort of hinting at certain things in the days prior, but hadn’t outright said anything. And then the previous day she’d been a little more bold with her word choice and that had only led to innocent assumptions from her boyfriend, so… it seemed like spelling certain things out was the best option. He had to know that it wasn’t so much a matter of if as it was a matter of when for her… right?
Eliza could tell when Danny got to the ones she was most nervous about him reading. Not only did his demeanor change, but also… his ability to form complete sentences. Which was sort of the reaction she’d been hoping for. “Well, I’m very glad you like them. They can be combined too. So Fight Club night could turn into uninterrupted conversation time which could turn into one of the other ones,” the girl explained with a slight shake of her head post-peck. “And the minimum of twelve hours away from Lakewood is definitely one that can be combined with others. That one’s basically a road trip thing,” she continued, pausing then only because she knew that he probably understood how the book worked by that point and he’d only be listening to her to amuse her. “Anyway. Shall we go? Before my brother or parents check to see why someone’s still on their front porch?”
DANNY
He wanted her. Of course he wanted her. He would have been stupid and would have been lying if he said he didn’t, but that couldn’t happen. Every time Danny thought about what it would be like to lay in a bed with Eliza and forget about the rest of the world, those texts came into his head. If he ever got close to Eliza enough to be with her, he would have to film it or risk someone he loved getting hurt. Of course, the truth didn’t escape him. If he did actually go through with it, Eliza would end up hurt. There was not a single outcome in the situation save for the killer being caught that Danny could think of which would keep anyone from getting hurt. Only real problem was it was the difference between Eliza’s heart being broken and someone actually getting killed.
His mind was snapped back into reality as he realized Eliza had actually been talking to him about the various coupons and how they could be used together as well. Some were rather innocent and would be fun to use together, such as the date of Eliza’s choice and some nice hot chocolate at the end. There were others, like the road trip, which lent themselves to more doubling up with those coupons that let Danny get to know Eliza on a more personal and physical level. A quick look at Eliza once again made Danny’s blush worsen. She had so eagerly kissed him back and then with the coupon book – it was going to be hard to keep from giving in, but it was necessary.
When asked if he was ready to go, Daniel chuckled softly then nodded. It probably was a good idea to get out of there before Mr. and Mrs. Oliver, or worse Tanner, came to see what the deal was. The last thing any of them needed to see was Danny with his tongue down their daughter and sister’s mouth. “Absolutely. I have an evening planned out that I hope you’ll really enjoy.” He led the girl to his car then, opening the passenger door for her before making his way over to the driver’s side. “I want you to tell me if you hate it, but I also hope that you don’t hate it. Ready?”
ELIZA
With the gift portion of the evening out of the way, Eliza was feeling less and less nervous by the minute. She really had just been waiting to see how Danny would react to things, and since he seemed to react positively (he had definitely been blushing), the rest of the night should be smooth sailing… right?
“I’m positive that I’ll enjoy it,” Eliza assured her boyfriend with a smile, having meant the ‘we could even stand next to a trash can and have a good time’ comments she’d made prior to that evening. She knew without a doubt that was not what they would be doing that night, but the sentiment was still there. Following him to his car, Eliza murmured a quick ‘thank you’ before she slid inside, glancing over at Danny when he had joined her. She had absolutely no idea what to expect that evening, but it seemed like he had put a lot of thought into planning the perfect Valentine’s (and technically still one month anniversary) evening for them. And Eliza so appreciated that. “I’m pretty sure that anything better than standing next to a trash can would be you acing the night, so no worries there, but if for some reason I don’t like what you have planned, I will let you know in the nicest of ways,” she reassured, by that point super curious as to where they were going and what they were about to do. “Do I get to know any part of what’s to come before it happens, though? Just wondering.”
DANNY
“Absolutely not. If I told you where we were going, that would take some of the surprise out of it.” Danny gave the girl a quick smirk before starting the car and pulling out of the Oliver’s driveway. They had a little ways to go before reaching the destination, but Danny didn’t mind. As they drove, he turned up the radio just a bit and began to hum along before finally looking over at Eliza again. “You surprise me Liza, you know that?” He thought back to the coupons that she had given him and flushed slightly once again. “You always seem like such an innocent person and then you do these like – well like that book and it just blows my mind.” The corner of his lips pulled up into a smirk then before his eyes were back on the road. “Just, surprises me is all.”
After a while, they arrived in another town and Danny glanced at the welcoming sign before smiling. “We’re almost there.” ‘There’ turned out to be a small family restaurant that Danny was obviously pleased about as they pulled into the parking lot. “I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place so I figured what better way to try it out than with someone I care about.” Danny got out then and went to open the passenger door for Eliza. “Hopefully it’s worth it.”
ELIZA
“Then I suppose it’ll be a surprise,” the girl nodded before settling into her seat for the drive. She had no clue how long they’d be on the road, but she didn’t exactly question their destination until it became abundantly clear to her that they were heading out of town. For some reason the idea that they’d go somewhere a little further hadn’t crossed her mind. At that point she became even more intrigued as to where they’d end up that night. Noticing Danny humming along to the music, Eliza was just about to start singing along when his words took her by surprise. She hadn’t really been expecting him to bring up the book again that night, but she was sort of glad that he had. They hadn’t really talked about certain implications of certain coupons yet.
“I probably seem like an innocent person because I am an innocent person,” Eliza reasoned then, her eyes trained on Danny as she spoke. “I haven’t really had an interest in… doing anything before, but since I unexpectedly do now and I trust you, I figured… why not make things explicitly clear using a book of coupons filled with a mixture of nice things?” It felt a little weird to explain it, but that was sort of just where she was at by that point. “Are you okay with that? I mean, obviously no pressure or anything. I just-fun fact but when you Google relationship coupon books basically the only ideas that come up are explicit ones,” the girl started to ramble, shutting herself up before she could make things weird.
Having completely missed any indication of where they currently were when Danny indicated to her that they were almost at their destination, Eliza kept her eyes peeled for a clue as they continued to drive, looking over at Danny only once they pulled into a parking lot. The restaurant was cute and Eliza was intrigued as to exactly why he had chosen it for their date that evening. “I have also never been here, so let’s go,” the girl replied once she was out of the car, grabbing Danny’s hand and moving towards the front door to the building. “If we like it, maybe we make trips back out here for it. It’s… nice to get out of town right now.”
DANNY
Hearing Eliza ask if he was alright with the coupon book, Danny wanted to stop the car right then. How on earth could the beautiful young woman beside him think for a second that he wasn’t completely alright with anything like that? Instead of stopping though, Danny simply looked over at Eliza again and chuckled softly. “Okay? Of course I’m okay with it. I’m more than okay with it. Back when we were kissing outside the door, there was very little I wanted to do more than just put my hand on your outer thigh and hold onto you there. But, of course, there’s just other things when it comes to us as well. Like, as you said, I know you’ve never really done that sort of thing before. I also wouldn’t ever want to give you the impression that I’m only with you because I’m waiting for you to sleep with me.”
The final worry was one which Danny didn’t vocalize, but it was still active in his mind – the task. Thankfully it wasn’t something he had to dwell on long as soon enough he was leading her inside the building with a smile. “That would be great, actually. I would love to get out of Lakewood with you more often. Hell, I would love to get out of Lakewood period, but it would be even better if it was with you.” He opened the front door and was met with delicious smells that made him sigh softly. “I think I might like this place, but going to have to ask about ingredients.”
ELIZA
“Well, that is… good to know,” Eliza admitted, taking a moment to process exactly what he was saying. They hadn’t really talked about things, so it actually was good to get an understanding of where they were each at in regards to that aspect of their relationship. And he did have a point. It could be that once they actually did initiate something, Eliza would discover that she wasn’t, in fact, ready for anything. And that would be fine, she knew, but Danny’s words just then were a reminder that they didn’t need to rush anything. It wasn’t like they didn’t have time. She did have one comment to make, however. “I don’t get that impression at all, though. I mean, I was pretty sure that you’d be up for it, but I know it’s not the reason why we’re together. Clearly you were surprised that it’s something that was even brought up, so you weren’t expecting it to happen any time soon,” the girl was sure to point out.
“Casual reminder that there’s a ‘get out of Lakewood for a minimum of twelve hours’ coupon, so that can definitely be arranged… and that should also happen outside of that one coupon too, because Lakewood is very small. And not at all a fun place to be right now,” she continued once inside, lightly touching on the more recent tragic events in town. She didn’t exactly want to have a full conversation about that on such a nice night, however. She didn’t exactly want to have a conversation about certain aspects of that… ever. So slight subject change. “In six months it’s also entirely possible that neither of us will be in Lakewood.” If he got into MIT. Eliza was guaranteed to be going somewhere, but she really wanted Danny to be getting out too. Glancing around at her surroundings, Eliza couldn’t help but smile at the setting. She could already tell that she was going to enjoy dinner, and not just because of her company. “No mushrooms for you and no grapefruit for me. Both totally avoidable things, I think,” Eliza nodded before looking to Danny to see where they’d be going, table-wise. “Did you look up the menu before we came? Do you know if they have anything they’re well known for?”
DANNY
“I don’t honestly. I was just looking for somewhere out of Lakewood where we could really enjoy ourselves and this place had some pretty good reviews so I figured why not?” It really had been one of those moments where Danny was browsing places and the place had come up as one of the ‘must-eats’ of the area so it seemed like a good idea. “That’s why I really need to make sure there aren’t any mushrooms in whatever I order.” He chuckled softly, though he had packed an epi-pen just in case such a situation arose. Dying on Valentine’s Day certainly didn’t seem like the proper way to go. Once they were seated, Danny smiled over at the girl, staring at her for a while longer than he probably realized before finally glancing down at the menu with a blush on his face.
It was hard to explain what exactly there was about Eliza Oliver that managed to reel him in and he didn’t know if he really wanted an explanation. Knowing that she had him hook, line, and sinker seemed to be working well enough for the both of them. When the waiter came for their drink orders, he simply ordered a water – wanting to avoid the sugary carbonation that was soda – then looked over at Eliza once again. There was something about seeing her across the table from him on Valentine’s Day that made things feel a little warmer. After all his pining and convincing himself that she would never go for him, they were there – together.
“I’ve been meaning to ask you, have you thought any more about where you’re wanting to go for college? So far you have acceptances from Harvard and where else?” He had been listening to Eliza when she told him, but time had passed since then and it wasn’t as if he wrote down all the places that she was accepted. Harvard had just managed to stand out because on the off chance she did go there and he did get accepted to MIT, well they would be in the same town once again. That didn’t mean he was going to share those thoughts with the girl, but they were still nice to have on his own.
ELIZA
“Well, I like being out of Lakewood with you. It’s good to get away from… you know, everything. We could make this a thing. At least once a month we just get out of town,” the girl suggested, liking her idea more and more as she thought it over. They could take turns driving and everything. They just both needed a break from Murderville and various inhabitants of the town. At his almost-joking about the mushrooms, Eliza smiled. “Yes, avoiding those tonight is a top priority. Spending our first Valentine’s Day being stuck in the hospital together… would be sort of in-line with how we got together on Friday the 13th, I guess. But the list of better things we could be doing is probably endless.”
Looking at the menu, Eliza quickly worked to decide what she wanted, glancing up at Danny only when she realized that he seemed to be looking at her. He looked down right as she looked up, however, so they seemed to just barely avoid meeting each other’s eyes. Had he been looking at her the whole time? Because if so… that was adorable. When Eliza had first sat herself down next to the quiet and slightly intimidating looking older boy in her freshman year of high school, she really never would have imagined that they’d end up with their current status. But through spending time together and actually getting to know each other over the past four years, it just became a sort of natural progression. She just hadn’t been aware that things were progressing that way until Lakewood Days, and by then it was way too late to turn back on her part. Convinced that he didn’t like her back, however, she had actually been trying to fight things until it became abundantly clear to her that he might have an interest in her too. And of course things had simply spiraled from there (in only the best of ways). It was crazy to think that they’d only been together for a month.
It was as the waiter approached that Eliza realized she had been staring at Danny since his paying attention to her had caught her attention. And so she was completely taken off guard when the waiter asked for her drink order. Echoing Danny, Eliza also ordered just a water before looking over at her boyfriend once again. “I love Italian, by the way. So, excellent Valentine’s choice,” she murmured then, a small smile playing on her face as she momentarily broke the comfortable silence.
And then it was time to talk about college. The number one discussion topic in her life, it would seem. “Harvard, Yale, Columbia, NYU, and Johns Hopkins,” the girl quickly listed off her acceptances before listing off the rest of her college admissions statuses. “I still haven’t heard from Stanford. Waitlisted at Princeton, UPenn, UT, and Brown. And I got into the two state schools, but I don’t plan on staying in Colorado.” Where exactly she planned on going was still up in the air. Stanford wasn’t so much in the picture anymore, especially since things with Seth had gone down the road they had (even if it was slowly getting better, it had made her realize that she needed to reevaluate her options). But if not Stanford, where? “I think I’m actually leaning towards Harvard. Yale is still up there too, as is Johns Hopkins, but I like the idea of Cambridge? And the financial aid from Harvard is surprisingly the best,” the girl explained after a moment, voicing her newer college opinions for the first time. Like Eliza had promised previously, her choice had absolutely nothing to do with her boyfriend potentially going to MIT. But she knew that could also be a nice bonus were things to work out that way. “I’m going to the East Coast for spring break to like… solidify my choice, though. I’m hoping it’s one of those things where you’re on the campus and you just sort of know that it’s the right place for you.”
