Okay but for real, please download Merlin, the Cornell-based bird-logging app. It is so great. It will tell you about birds in your area. It will make you so insufferable on hikes and outings. It doesn't have any comments section so if this site gets nuked do NOT try to find me there but know that that's where I'm hanging. Having a great time birdwatching. Logging the bluejay that bullies my cats. Helping researchers track where birds are for climate change-related population monitoring. 10/10, highly recommend getting a life and doing some silly birdwatching.

It always makes me sad whenever stories with hopeful messages or lighthearted moments are sometimes dismissed as unintelligent or weaker than tragedies. Isn't joy and hope what makes a dark journey worthwhile? Not every story needs an unhappy ending to serve as a lesson.

I will forever be a fan of stories that say hey, maybe the world is a rough place, and it will always be this way, but you can make a difference with the people who matter to you. Even if no one else will know, even if no one else will remember, the ones you loved, and who loved you in return, will remember. People who are holding onto you, even at the end of everything else. People who remind you that new beginnings are born from the ashes.

My favorite stories will always end with love, hope, and the sun rising on the horizon after hell and high waters. The world can be so cruel, but we can choose not to be as individuals. Joy is as human as anger and sorrow. Joy is what we reach for when we are at our lowest, whether we realize it or not. We want what was lost back. I love stories where the characters reach the light at the end of the tunnel, emerge on the other side, and are allowed to heal. Even if they’ve done bad things, even if they aren’t perfect, isn’t that true of all of us?

I can’t not fight for it. Every single time I think of how much love and work went into it—how Prime fought off a ton of other services for the IP, just to hobble it before release—how these kids KILLED their performances, only to be unceremoniously dumped not two months after dropping…flames. Flames on the side of my face. It’s the most underdog of underdog fandoms I’ve ever been a part of, and it feels rough as hell out here, but I genuinely can’t let it go.

I’m currently struggling through the Chimera Ant Arc (the internet promised me it would end on ep 132 but we’re at 135 and STILL GOING, I’ve been suffering since ep 75 or something HELP T___T) and man do I have some opinions XD

Very briefly, my primary gripe is about how a certain character is predictably mischaracterized by the fandom (to the point where those not in the fandom -- like me, formerly -- have heard all about supposed transgressions), whereas another character never gets brought up when that particular subject is discussed despite things actually happening. in canon. But she’s not a dude so it’s all good, right? X_X

Also the usual Dumbledore/Hiruzen/Eraqus complaint, as well as the killing off antagonists just when they had started to grow/learn/etc. complaint, but honestly I’m more surprised when a fictional work doesn’t include them lmao

Maybe when I have some time that I’m not spending drawing or gaming, I’ll type up an actual thoughts/impressions post for HxH. I haven’t done one of those in what feels like ages ^^
