Fun in the Sun

Two weeks had passed since Marquise and I last spoke. Leaving the construction site of my project behind, I headed home, the drive short but accompanied by an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Suddenly, at the stoplight before my street, I spotted a familiar truck pulling away. Blinking a few times, I questioned my perception.

Moments later, as I approached my home, the gates slid open, and I parked in the driveway. Exiting the car, I hurriedly checked the mail before scurrying to the front door. To my surprise, a bouquet of flowers with a note attached was waiting for me at the front door. Grabbing it hastily, I ensured the security cameras were in order and locked the doors behind me. Settling onto the couch, I let the day's stress melt away as I nestled under a throw. As I read the note, the handwriting struck a familiar chord. The truck I had seen earlier must have belonged to Marquise.

With each word, emotions swirled within me. Marquise's heartfelt words echoed my own feelings of longing and regret. The mention of the boat house upstate stirred memories of our shared moments, where conversations flowed freely and our bond felt unbreakable.

His offer to meet tomorrow at his home until 1:30 pm filled me with a mix of apprehension and anticipation. Could this be the chance to finally confront the issues between us and find a way back to each other?

The ride to the boat house was filled with a palpable tension, silence hanging thickly between us like an invisible barrier. It felt as though there were countless words waiting to be spoken, yet neither of us dared to break the silence.

Arriving at the tranquil sanctuary of the boat house, we settled in, the serene surroundings providing a backdrop for the conversation that was long overdue.
