June 2, 2022

Sebastian has slipped outside of the Hughes house and pulled out his phone to call his dad, He held the phone against his ear waiting for the call to start.

“Hey Seb.” Todd said once he answered the call.

“Hey Dad.” Sebastian greeted back, “I uh was wondering if you got my email?” Sebastian has emailed his dad all the tickets and hotel details for his upcoming Draft but he never got an answer back.

“What was it for?” Todd asked opening his email to try and find the email he hasn’t seen yet.

“My draft.” Sebastian answered.

“Oh.” Todd trailed off as he clicked on the email and realized what the dates were, “I’m sorry Seb but we won’t be able to make it.”

“What?” Sebastian cleared his throat, hoping he had heard him wrong.

“We have the cruise for Em’s birthday that week,” Todd told Sebastian the reason, “I’m sorry Seb but none of us will be able to come.”

Sebastian scoffed and just hung up, why did he even try with them anymore. He ran a hand through his hair frustrated and groaned leaning his head back on the wall.

Ellen walked outside to get Sebastian for dinner and saw him looking very frustrated but upset.

“Bas?” Ellen called gently and her head clenched sadly when his head looked up and she saw how devastated he looked, “Hey what’s wrong?” Ellen gently asked walking over to him.

Sebastian just shook his head not wanting to be so upset over this, “Can i just have a hug El?” Sebastian softly asked looking at her hopeful.

“You never have to ask Bas.” Ellen fondly smiled and pulled him into a comforting hug, he leaned his forhead on her shoulder as she gently played with his hair feeling him relax.

Sebastian always thought Luke got his comforting hugs from Ellen.

“Now you want to tell me what is wrong?” Ellen asked softly again once they pulled back.

“No one is coming to by draft.” Sebastian mumbled out as all of his “family” couldn’t make it.

Ellen felt her heart drop hating how much his birth family keeps hurting him and they don’t been realize, “Hey forgot about them.” Ellen gently brushed his hair back, “You know we are all coming right?” Ellen told him as it has been on all of the Hughes calendar since the date was released.

“You are?” Sebastian blinked in shock he thought only Luke was coming but he truthfully couldn’t be suprised as the Hughes care about the people they love.

“Of course we are silly.” Ellen teased him softly with a soft smile.

“Thank you El.” Sebastian mumbled pulling her into another hug, she has healed alot of his scars and past trauma from his birth mother and made him realize you can choose your family and blood doesn’t always mean family but love does.

“Always sweetheart.” Ellen pressed a kiss to his head, Sebastian has been one of her sons since she saw his sad eyes the day Luke brought him home, she loves him as much as her other sons and she is very grateful that one day he will be her son in law.

“Now come on let’s get inside before they eat all the food.” Ellen threw an arm over his shoulder as they walked back inside.

Luke looked up when Sebastian walked back in and could tell something was wrong with him and he gave Sebastian a concerned look.

Sebastian sat down on his spot next to Luke and just squeezed Luke’s thigh, “I’ll tell you later.” Sebastian whispered seeing Luke’s look.

Luke ran a hand through his hair and tiredly stumbling to the outside of the lake house seeing Sebastian sitting at the dock looking out at the water.

Luke grabbed the blanket hanging on the back deck and walked down the stairs and down the hill onto the dock and plopped down next to his best friend and threw the blanket over the both of them.

Luke has noticed something off with his best friend the last few days and knows something had been bothering him.

Sebastian didn’t even notice that Luke sat next to him to lost in old memories.

October 28, 2008

Five year old Sebastian giggled as he was knelt down on the grass in the backyard of his childhood home, he gently picked three tiny yellow flowers and held them in his tiny hand.

“Sebby!” Jennifer called out from the back patio knowing her youngest son is still outside and it was time for dinner.

“Coming Mama!” Sebastian gently yelled back and quickly jogged to the patio straight to his mother with a beaming smile.

Sebastian ran right into her legs hugging them tightly, Jennifer fondly smiled and rubbed the back of her darling boys head.

“I got you a present!” Sebastian looked up at her grinning and gently put out his hands with the flowers he picked.

“Oh Sebby darling they are perfect!” Jennifer smiled widely and gently took them from her sweet son’s hand, She leaned down picking him and pressing multiple kisses to his cheek, “Ready for dinner?” She asked him as she carried him inside.

“Mhm.” Sebastian mumbled resting his head on her shoulder and staring to fall asleep in her arms.

Sebastian blinked out the memories feeling Luke nudge him gently.

“Are you alright Sebby?” Luke looked at him in concern and Sebastian kinda nodded.

“You know my mother left right.” Sebastian stated to Luke, Luke’s eyes widen as Sebastian doesn’t ever talk about his mother but nodded.

“Her relationship with Dad was bad for a good while before we moved to Michigan and they were always arguing over something, most the time it was because she wanted more money to go shopping.” Sebastian let out a breath shaking his head, he’s never talked about this to anyone but it’s Luke. Luke scooted closer so their elbows and shoulders were touching.

“It was like she changed one night from the mother we knew to someone else. And then one day we woke up and she was gone.” Sebastian swallows harshly, “We found out she was having an affair for a long time as long as she was acting different.”

Luke frowned hating this lady for hurting Sebastian so much.

“It was hard when she left. Dad was emotional gone, he was heartbroken from her leaving and it was worse when he found she was cheating for months. He didn’t get any better until he started talking to Emily.” Sebastian explained, Emily his stepmother, also the reason his dad and older brother moved back to Massachusetts and why Sebastian lived with the Hughes.

“Micheal was obviously hurting but he did that by pushing everyone away and it caused strain on our relationship that’s never been fixed and Matt was trying to act happy and nothing has happened. She broke our family when she left and know she’s got a new family with the man she cheated with and has got step kids now.” Sebastian scoffed out an angry breath blinking to keep the tears in.

“Why can’t anyone just want to stay.” Sebastian whispered, His mother left for a rich man and a new family and his dad left him Michigan for a new wife, two step kids and a newborn son.

Sebastian shoulder trembled and Luke frowned quickly wrapped his arm around Sebastian’s shoulder and pulled him closer, “Let it all out, it’s just me.” Luke soflty whispered and it seemed to break the dam holding Sebastian’s waterworks.

Sebastian’s sobs were quiet but his whole body shook with the weight of them, he’s only cried once since everything has happened and it was the day his mother has left, he’s been holding everything but the anger in for years.

“I’ve got you.” Luke softly cooed and gently brushed Sebastian’s back and just held him letting him cry it all out.

Sebastian stayed in Luke’s arms for a long time just crying out all of the sadness and heartbreak before he finally started to calm down and his sobs slowing down.

Luke waited until Sebastian calmed down before gently grabbing his face and pulling it up so they held eye contact, “She’s a bitch for leaving Sebastian. And your dad is a jerk too for leaving.” Luke firmly spoke, he remembers how much he hated how devastated Sebastian looked after he found his dad and brother were moving back and with a new family.

“It doesn’t matter about them anyways, you never did anything wrong and they were stupid to leave you.” Luke reassured him, “But you always have a family with us. Dad doesn’t let anyone touch his grill but loves it when you help him. Mom loves everyone but absolutely adores you and literally always asking about you when you’re gone. Quinn rarely likes anyone but i’ve seen him treat you just the same as he treats Jacky and i, he thinks of you as a brother. And Jacky loves everyone but he is so protective over you and will never let anyone say anything that isn’t nice about you, he doesn’t do that for many.” Luke fondly told Sebastian everything.

Sebastian let out a watery chuckle, truthfully he feels more at home and with a family with the Hughes then he does with his own family and he is glad the feeling is reciprocated.

“Okay.” Luke checked and Sebastian nodded, “If you never want to go back to them you don’t have, you always have a home here.”

Sebastian smiled softly and nodded and pulled his best friend into a hug, “Thank you.” He mumbled.

“Always.” Luke promised and hugged him back.

Sebastian did find a home, just in Luke, and he found a family in the Hughes.

April 19, 2024

Luke slowly woke up hiding his face in a sleeping Sebastian’s hair. Luke hummed and traced shapes on Sebastian’s back.

They got back two day ago to Michigan and went straight home and got to see Ellen and Jim and both of them headed up to their room and flopped into bed and fell asleep for the rest of the day and night.

Luke honestly was glad the season was over, he was tired and just wanted a few days off the ice and relaxing a lot. He knows they are going to the worlds in a month but that’s enough time to just relax until then.

Luke also just loved how Sebastian just always seems more at peace at home or the lake house and more relaxed Sebastian is something Luke loves.

A reason why he knows that Sebastian and him will get their own house in Michigan soon.

Luke pressed a kiss to Sebastian’s head and gently shifted out of Sebastian’s hold and put the blanket between his arms before quietly walking out of the room.

Luke mumbled a good morning to his parents as he walked into the kitchen and headed straight to the coffee machine and pulled out Sebastian’s mug and set it under the machine and clicked the largest setting.

He opened the fridge and grabbed the creamer that he knew Sebastian didn’t love but always tolerated so he could share his coffee with Luke.

Ellen smiled fondly always loving seeing how in love her two boys are and it warms her heart seeing the two together and she is always so glad they have each other.

Luke mumbled a bye before grabbing the mug and carefully walking back up the stairs and into their room, he quietly closed the door behind him before noticing Sebastian with his eyes squinted open.

Luke walked over and set the coffee on the nightstand and quickly shuffled back into bed and Sebastian immediately cuddled back up to him.

Luke grabbed the mug and wrapped his arm around Sebastian before handing him the mug, Sebastian smiled fondly and took a sip of the coffee humming and held it up for Luke to take a sip before he took it back and took another sip.

“Thank you Lukey.” Sebastian mumbled resting his head on Luke’s shudder and closing his eyes enjoying that they can have more slow mornings now that the season is over.

Something they are both very grateful for because it’s one of their favorite things is to have slow mornings together.

“Always sweet boy.” Luke lovingly whispered kissing the top of his Sebastian’s head.

drunk

November 10, 2023

The Devils played the Capital’s and lost 2-4 and the team decided to go out after the game as most of them just wanted to get drunk as they had the next day off.

Jack was out for that game but was watching in the press box decided to join the team as well.

Luke was pretty frustrated after the game so Jacks and Sebastian shared a look and decided they would let Luke drink as much as he wanted and Jack would get the drinks for him.

They have been at the bar for at least a few hours now and Luke has gone through many drinks and shots and was fully leaning against Sebastian and falling asleep.

“Jacky.” Sebastian called out from where he was sitting with Luke and he instantly got Jack’s attention as Jack spun around and saw his baby brother falling asleep.

“You got him?” Jack doubled checked as Sebastian stood up with Luke completely leaning on Sebastian his eyes barely open.

Sebastian nodded and followed Jack out of the bar as they waved bye to their teammates.

Jack opened the back seat and helped Sebastian get Luke into the car and Luke whined when Sebastian tried to let go of Luke making Sebastian and Jack share a fond look and Sebastian got into the backseat with Luke.

Luke instantly curled up on Sebastian and his breath slowed down.

“Is he asleep?” Jack smiled as he looked through the mirror seeing Luke completely laying on Sebastian.

“Yeah.” Sebastian hummed and gently rubbed his hands through Luke’s hair, he frowned gently seeing the dark circles under Luke’s eyes and how pale he has gotten.

“Are you alright Bassie?” Jack gently questioned as he was driving and looked through the mirror and could tell Sebastian was troubled.

“It’s a lot.” Sebastian mumbled out knowing if anyone would understand it would Jack, “I just didn’t expect it to be so much.” Sebastian knew it was going to be hard in the NHL he just didn’t expect for it to be this much, especially with all the injuries and how much Luke and Sebastian are both playing.

“It is. It doesn’t get easier but you get use to it.” Jack didn’t want to lie and say it was easy the longer you are in the NHL because he knew that was a lie.

“Thank you Jacky for taking care of us.” Sebastian truly appreciated how much Jack has helped both him and Luke when he didn’t have to.

“Always buddy always i gotta take care of my two baby brothers.” Jack playfully winked through the mirror smiling as he saw the smile on Sebastian’s face.

Sebastian leaned his head back onto the seat closing his eyes for the rest of the drive.

Sebastian leaned his head up as Jack parked the car and he gently shook Luke awake but just got a grumble.

Sebastian gently shifted out from under Luke and got out of the car.

“Is he awake?” Jack peeked into the car still seeing Luke still fast asleep in the car.

Sebastian shook his head in reply and slipped his arm under Luke’s legs and picked him up. Luke didn’t even stir and just rested his head m on to Sebastian’s chest still fast asleep.

Jack just smiled shaking his head and closed the car door.

They walked to the elevator and took it up to their floor and walked down the hallway to their front door, Jack opened the door and Sebastian walked in and headed down the hallway to his and Luke’s room.

Sebastian gently set Luke down on the bed and started taking his shoes and skipped the shirt off Luke’s head and his jeans and grabbed a pair of shorts and put them on Luke. Luke didn’t even stir but Sebastian was used to that and he has permission from Luke to change him when he’s asleep and drunk.

Sebastian quickly got changed into a pair of sweatpants and then grabbed both of their phones plugging them both in but making sure the notifications were all off. Sebastian closed all the blinds of all the windows in their room so they can sleep in.

Jack walked to the doorway and leaned on the doorway fondly smiling at the two, he’s loves being able to see all the little things between them and truthfully loves their relationship so much.

Sebastian looked over and saw Jack standing at the door with water and medicine for the morning and the drunk bin they have in case one of them is sick.

Jack walked in and set the bin down on Luke’s side and set the rest on his nightstand and he turned around and pulled Sebastian into a gently hug.

Sebastian relaxed into Jack’s hug and leaned down to rest his head on Jack’s shoulder.

“You are doing amazing job bassie and you are having an insane rookie season, buddy i’m very proud of you.” Jack held Sebastian tightly as told him everything Sebastian should know.

“Thank you.” Sebastian mumbled feeling a lot better but he wasn’t surprised it was Jack, Jack always had a way of making him feel better.

“Always.” Jack promised his adopted little brother and pressed a kiss to the side of his head before letting him go, “Get some sleep you deserve it.” Jack sent him a smile heading towards the door.

“Jacky?” Sebastian called out and Jack turned around curiously, “I love you.” Sebastian didn’t say those words often to anyone that wasn’t Luke but Jack deserves to hear them more.

Jack felt his heart and face soften immensely, “I love you too.” Jack smiled and turned back around and closed the door behind him.

Sebastian let out a breath and walked over to the bed and laid down on his back and even in his sleep and drunk Luke scooted closer to Sebastian’s and threw his arm over his stomach.

Luke mumbled something against Sebastian chest and Sebastian softly chuckled pressing a kiss to Luke’s head, “I love you too.”

October 11, 2023

Sebastian, Luke and Jack all walked into the locker room about to have their last practice before the first game of the season tomorrow.

Sebastian and Luke headed to their stalls and were staring a conversation with John and Alex when Sebastian took off his hoodie and leaned down to grab his workout long sleeve when he heard Nate snickering.

“Jeez were you with a vampire Bolds?” Nate smirked as he saw all the hickeys and scratches across Sebastian’s neck, arms, chest and back.

“Damn Seb.” Curtis let out a chuckle, “Who did you see the last few days?” Curtis noisily prodded wondering who Sebastian slept with over the few days off.

Luke let out a small snicker but just continued to look down at his stall getting dressed, the smirk on his face was very proud. He had a lot of marks too but they were more hidden than Sebastian’s.

Jack looked up and gaged seeing Sebastian covered, “No no no. We are not talking about my little brother’s sex life.” Jack quickly protested and everyone thought he was only talking about Sebastian but no one knew he was talking about both of his little brothers.

Jack realized what the two did together when he was gone all day yesterday.

Dougie let out a laugh shaking his head and patted Jacks shoulder mockingly enjoying that Jack is one grossed out this time.

Nico titled his head thoughtfully as he noticed Jack said brothers not just brother, he looked over at Luke and saw a smirk on his face and Nico noticed a few smaller hickeys on him, Nico hummed realizing he’s been correct all along.

Sebastian just shrugged not at all ashamed or embarrassed by any one of the marks because they were from Luke.

goodbyes

April 6, 2023

The Umich Hockey team was getting up about to head out onto the rink about to play the Frozen Four game against Quinnipiac.

Sebastian stood up and saw Luke across the room still sitting on his stall and fiddling with his gloves. Sebastian walked over letting everyone else walk out and the room was empty besides Luke and him.

He sat down next to Luke and put his arm around Luke bringing him into his side, “I know my love.” Sebastian mumbled comforting Luke kissing the top of his curls. Sebastian knew how nervous Luke was for this game because so was he. If they lose they were leaving tonight to head to New Jersey and signing their entry level contracts.

“I’m gonna be sick.” Luke mumbled resting his head against Sebastian’s chest listening to the even sound of his heartbeat and taking slow deep breaths. Luke has never been this nervous for a game before but this game was a lot in general and adding the pressure of the signing and joining the NHL after put a lot more pressure on it.

“I know.” Sebastian and pressed another soft and long kiss to the top of his head, “Let’s go out and enjoy this.” Sebastian gently stood up and held out a hand for Luke to take.

Luke grabbed his hand and stood up and looked at Sebastian’s soft and comforting eyes and reassuring smile and took a deep breath breath and nodded dropping his boyfriend’s hand.

Sebastian and Luke walked through the halls and jumped onto the ice warming up their team not knowing it would be the last time.

The game started and it was tense from the start, the first period started and Quinnipiac scored first and then Seamus got a goal making the score a tie before Quinnipiac scored once more before the period was over.

Luke knocked his helmet against Sebastian’s as they stepped back onto the ice for the second period.

Luke passed to Sebastian who passed the puck to Adam leading to Adam scoring a goal and making the score tie once more.

Sebastian and Luke shared one more soft look as they stepped back onto the ice for the third period.

Luke passed the puck to Sebastian making him shoot the puck and getting a goal, and making Michigan lead for the first time all night.

“Let’s go baby.” Luke cheered as he knocked his helmet against Sebastian’s smiling widely as they celebrated the goal.

The happiness didn’t last long.

A few minutes later Quinnipiac scored again. And again.

Michigan lost 3-5 to Quinnipiac.

Sebastian watched as Luke tried to hurry off the ice towards the bench and quickly realize what was wrong, he rushed over grabbing the bucket and held it for Luke while blocking him from all of the fans and camera.

“Sssh let it all out.” Sebastian softly cooed and gently rubbed Luke’s back as he puked into the trash can Sebastian was holding. Sebastian was just as upset as Luke but was better at hiding it.

Luke went to try to speak but Sebastian just gently shushed him understanding how upset he is.

Sebastian gently wiped off Luke’s face and grabbed his water leading him down the rest of the tunnel and through the halls catching up with their teammates.

Sebastian sat with Luke in his stall not wanting to leave Luke alone and not wanting to be away from Luke.

Mark pouted and walked over sitting on the floor in front of Sebastian and Luke leaning his head on Sebastian legs, Ethan looked over and quickly walked over sitting down next to Mark on the floor. Mackie was sitting on the other side of Sebastian and Dylan sitting on the other side of Luke.

Sebastian could honestly say he had no idea what their coach said as he was just playing with Luke’s fingers the whole time.

Players started slowly shuffling to the showers and Luke gently stood up and pulled Luke with him. Sebastian wished he could shower with Luke but knew he couldn’t hear so he guided Luke to a shower and took the one next to him.

Sebastian quickly took a shower and threw on a pair of sweatpants and t-shirt, he waited outside the showers for Luke, who did take the longest out of everyone and most of the team was back in the locker room already.

Luke looked sadly towards Sebastian and could tell his boyfriend was struggling too, Luke walked over and pulled him into a gentle but tight hug letting Sebastian burry his head into Luke’s neck. Luke could feel the shaky sigh he let out.

“Me and you?” Sebastian soflty mumbled against Luke’s neck.

“Me and you always.” Luke reassured him and pressed a kiss to the side of his head and reluctantly let Sebastian go and stand back up.

They shared one more look before heading back into the locker room that was just a sad atmosphere, The two saw their suitcases that they brought by their stalls with their hockey bags all packed up completely.

Sebastian let the freshman tackle him into a hug and he fondly rolled his eyes but group hugged all of them back, he wouldn’t admit but they all grew on him.

Luke was saying his goodbyes to the older players before Sebastian came over and Luke went to their freshman group.

Once Luke and Sebastian said their goodbyes to almost the whole team expect their grade, Mackie, Dylan, Ethan and Mark.

Mark lunged forward and tightly hugged one of his best friends, “Don’t be a stranger alright.” Mark mumbled as he tightly hugged Sebastian.

“Never.” Sebastian promised hugging back someone he’s always going to consider a best friend.

Dylan and Luke were hugging each other tightly. Mackie and Ethan watched sadly.

Mark reluctantly let go of Sebastian and let Mackie and Ethan hug him at the same time.

Sebastian let out a fond sound and hugged the two tightly back.

Mark walked over and hugged Luke tightly, “Take care of him?” Mark whispered.

“Always.” Luke promised, once he was jealous of the relationship between Sebastian and Mark but he realized Mark and Sebastian understand each other in a way no one else does and Luke knows now that the two are truly just platonic, platonic soulmates.

Dylan walked over and pulled Sebastian into a tight hug, Dylan took a deep breath trying not to cry as he was saying his goodbyes to his two best friends, not sure when they would see each other again.

“Thank you.” Sebastian mumbled hugging Dylan back, Dylan was surprising but he crept into Sebastian’s heart and became needed Sebastian knew he always needed.

“Always bud.” Dylan sadly mumbled back and reluctantly let go of him.

Dylan and Sebastian looked over seeing Luke just getting out of the hug with Mackie and Ethan.

Sebastian and Luke shared a look and nodded they both turned around and grabbed their bags. The two started walking out of the room and looked back once more at the team before starting to walk away.

Luke and Sebastian both nodded many goodbyes to Michigan staff as they walked through the arena and to the outside where the car was waiting to take them to the airport.

They gave the bags to the driver and Sebastian opened the door letting Luke hop in first, Sebastian got in after him shutting the door.

Luke gently grabbed Sebastian’s hand and fiddled with his fingers the whole drive to the airport, Sebastian leaned against the window looking out the car the whole time and gently rubbing Luke’s hand with his thumb.

They thanked the driver and headed through the airport, through security and headed to their gate, they got there just at the plane was boarding and walked right on.

Sebastian let Luke take the window seat as he put their hockey bags in the overhead before sitting in the middle seat and putting the arm rest up between them. Luke held onto Sebastian’s hand tightly as they sat there waiting for the plane to take off. Lucky for them no one sat next to them and it was just the two of them in the row.

Luke let out breath he was nervous but he had Sebastian and that made all the fears go away because no matter what he had Sebastian with him.

Sebastian scooted and found a comfortable position and rested his head on Luke’s shoulder closing his eyes.

Luke let his head fall onto of his boyfriend’s head and closed his eyes.

Sebastian slowly woke up at the shake and felt the plane landing on the ground, he opened his eyes and looked at the screen seeing they just landed in New Jersey.

“Lu baby.” Sebastian gently cooed running a hand through his curls softly, Luke mumbled shuffling closer to his boyfriend warmth, “Come on we landed.” Luke slowly peaked his eyes opened and nodded lifting his head up and rubbing his face.

Sebastian stood up and grabbed their bags for them and let Luke walk down the row first and off the plane.

They headed down the pick up their checked bags and quickly grabbed them and walked through the airport to the outside where Jack was picking them up.

Jack was waiting in the pick up lot and smiled widely as he saw the two walking to him, he was ecstatic when Luke got drafted to the Devils and it only became better when Sebastian was drafted too. Jack has know Sebastian for so long now he’s become a younger brother to Jack. And Jack has always been glad how good of a best friend Sebastian has always been to Luke.

Jack and Luke quickly hugged other tightly, Jack softly ran his hand through his bag brothers curls before reluctantly letting him go and pulling Sebastian into a hug as well.

Sebastian bent down slightly and hugged Jack back, Sebastian would never admit it to anyone besides Luke but Jack is someone he sees as a brother and so is Quinn.

“Come on let’s get you guys home.” Jack giddy smiled, he helped them put all of their bags into the car and then the two hoped into the backseat while Jack drove them.

Jack had recently moved before the start of the season to a a lot bigger apartment, with alot of extra rooms and space because he knew the two would stay with him at least a year and he wanted to be able to have alot of guests but be able to let any other teammates stay with him.

Sebastian had wanted to get his own apartment with Luke but Jack all but begged that two would stay with him at least for a season as he wanted them to stay with him so badly.

Sebastian knew that Luke missed his brother and he did miss Jack too so it wasn’t hard for Jack to convince them to live with him.

Jack yapped for the whole drive back and pulled into the parking garage, he parked the car and they all got out.

Luke and Sebastian grabbed their bags and followed Jack through the building and elevators up to the floor, Jack led them down the hallway and to the apartment door and opened the door.

They walked in after Jack, Jack lead them down a hallway, “Here this is a Jack and Jill rooms so i thought they would work good for you too? And my rooms across the apartment.” Jack opened the door to one of the rooms and led them in.

“It’s all good Jack thank you.” Luke smiled patting his brother on the shoulder.

“Alright i’ll let you to settle in.” Jack smiled once more and walked out of the room closing the door behind him.

Sebastian walked to the bathroom and opened the second door and it connected to his room, which was convenient for them. As Jack still has not realized that Sebastian and Luke are together.

Luke walked through their bathroom into Sebastian room and grabbed his hand pulling him to the bed, Luke pushed his boyfriend onto the bed and quickly climbed on top of him and laying down on him.

Sebastian just wrapped his arms around Luke and gently played with his curls.

Luke let out a long breath and held onto Sebastian tighter.

The hockey house was packed with people, so many people you can barely walk through out the house.

Luke was standing with Dylan and Ethan waiting for Sebastian and Mark to come back.

“Mark is such a flirt.” Ethan commented cutting Dylan on off he shook his head looking over seeing Mark completely flirting with Sebastian. Everyone knew that Mark just enjoyed flirting doesn’t matter if you’re his friend or a stranger.

Luke felt his shoulders tense looking at the two as they walked by all the people coming back. Luke saw how Sebastian didn’t look uncomfortable and hated how he could feel how jealous he was seeing Mark flirt with Sebastian.

Sebastian smirked slightly just shaking his head at Mark and his flirtatious self, Sebastian stood next to Luke and looked over seeing Luke extremely tense and looking very upset. Sebastian leaned down and whispered, “Are you okay?” Sebastian gave Luke a concern look.

Luke looked over seeing Sebastian looking at him, Luke took a deep breath and grabbed Sebastian’s hand and pulled him away from their friends.

Sebastian more than willing let Luke drag him through the house, he would go anywhere with Luke.

Luke led them through the packed and loud house and up the stairs, he brought them to their dorm closing and locking the door behind him.

“Do you like Mark?” Luke demanded the second the door was shut not even looking at Sebastian.

“Mark?“ Sebastian let out a chuckle of disbelief and Sebastian saw how Luke tensed more and walked over to him but still gave Luke some space, “No. I do not like Mark.” Sebastian sternly told Luke reassuring him.

Luke took a deep breath and nodded.

“Would it matter? If i did?” Sebastian gently pushed as he walked around so he could look at Luke, face to face.

Luke took another breath looking up at Sebastian, “No.” Luke tried to lie but Sebastian just gave him a look in return, “I wouldn’t like it.” Luke reluctantly mumbled out.

“Why?” Sebastian stepped forward and gently whispered leaning closer to Luke.

Luke swallowed nervously, “Why do you care.” Luke tried to deflect his question.

“Because i care about you.” Sebastian softly spoke resting his hands on Luke’s waist and lower back. Sebastian was not nervous telling Luke how he felt because Luke makes him feel safe.

“You care about me?” Luke whispered as his arms went around Sebastian’s neck, He titled his head noticing the softness in Sebastian’s voice and face as he looked down at him.

“Who else?” Sebastian rhetorically whispered relishing in the bright beaming smile he got from Luke in return.

“Are you saying what i think you’re saying Boldy?” Luke teased his best friend running his hands through Sebastian’s hair.

“What do you think i’m saying Hughes.” Sebastian flirted back smiling softly at Luke.

“Will you be my boyfriend Sebastian Boldy?” Luke asked the question he has been waiting to ask Sebastian.

Sebastian smiled softly and leaned his forhead against Luke’s, “I would like nothing more Luke Hughes.” Sebastian smiled and pressed his lips to Luke’s lovingly. Luke smiled widely and held Sebastian face in his hands.

Luke looked over through the crowed house, and saw a grumpy Sebastian leaning against the wall, Luke could see how annoyed Sebastian was by the blonde girl who was twirling her hair and batting her eyelashes up at Sebastian.

Luke felt his stomach twist uncomfortable seeing her so close to Sebastian. It clicked for Luke a few weeks ago that he did have a crush on his long time best friend.

Luke downed the rest of his drink in his cup and walked over to Sebastian giving the blonde a dark glare, “Excuse us.” Luke grabbed Sebastian’s arm and started pulling him away, Sebastian just smirked slighty and happily let Luke pull him away from the annoying blonde girl.

Luke led them through the crowed hockey house that was packed because of the game they won this afternoon, Luke lead them up the stairs and down the hallway and into their room. Luke and Sebastian having picked each other for being each other’s roommates.

Luke shut the door behind the both of them, Sebastian let out a sigh as he finally got away from all the people, the music was not nearly as loud up the stairs and in their room and no more girls trying to flirt with him.

“Thank you.” Sebastian spoke to his best friend as he hopped onto the end of Luke’s bed.

“No worries.” Luke shook off his jealousy as Sebastian chose to follow him and not one of those girls.

Luke looked down at his desk fiddling with the random clutter, “You know all the girls are flirting with you because you’re single right?” Luke pointed out, Since the second Sebastian stepped onto the campus it seemed like every girl was trying to get with him maybe for the fact he was hot or he’s already 6”0 at 17.

“There all annoying.” Sebastian grumbled giving Luke an eye roll.

“I know that.” Luke rolled his eyes sassily back, “You just need everyone to think you’re with someone.” Luke coyly suggested still looking down at his desk.

“I don’t want any of them.” Sebastian looked disgusted at the thought of any of the girls, they only cared about his looks and besides they all annoy him and going out with any guy on campus wasn’t a good idea because the world didn’t know he was bisexual.

“Oh i know.” Luke nodded and looked up, “You need someone to hook up frequently, get some marks and be able to say to anyone that asks that you’re with someone.” Luke walked across the room and laid on his back next to Sebastian and swallows nervously hoping his idea works.

“Yeah ok, with who?” Sebastian rhetorically asked and turned on his side facing Luke, he didn’t mind the idea of hooking up with the same person, it would make everything easier.

Luke took a deep breath and turned to face Sebastian, “Me.” Luke watched him closely.

Sebastian blinked shocked and looked his best friend and saw he was serious, Sebastian wouldn’t lie and say Luke wasn’t attractive because he was and has always been exactly Sebastian’s type but he has only thought of his best friend in a platonic way.

“What if this messes everything up?” Sebastian whispered letting Luke see a sliver of his vulnerable side, Sebastian hasn’t let anyone in since his mother left besides Luke and he’s never enjoyed playing with someone on the ice like he does with Luke, the possibility of messing up his friendship with Luke isn’t worth anything not when their friendship is one of the most important things to Sebastian.

“It won’t.” Luke sternly promised, “No matter what we will stay friends and besides we’ve got to play together in the NHL, nothing is gonna change that.” Luke knew Sebastian well and could tell the idea of them not being friends anymore scared him and Luke knew that wouldn’t happen because Sebastian was always gonna he apart of his life.

Sebastian let out a breath and nodded slowly, Luke smirked happily and leaned closer his eyes flickering between Sebastian’s lips and eyes, Luke leaned closer when Sebastian didn’t pull away and gently pressed his lips to Sebastian’s soft lips letting out sigh.

Sebastian hand went to Luke’s hip and pulled him over and set him onto his lap letting Luke straddle him. Sebastian’s hands went into Luke’s soft curls as their lips were still connected in a desperate manner.

Luke pulled away to catch his break and smiled seeing that Sebastian’s lips are already getting swollen already. Luke leaned down again looking at Sebastian for consent and Sebastian nodded and titled his head to the side giving Luke more access.

Luke pressed light soft kissed down the side of Sebastian’s neck until he kissed a certain spot that made Sebastian let out a sound. Luke smirked and started to make marks down the one side or Sebastian’s neck before he leaned back up and started marking the other side.

Sebastian flipped them around with Luke’s back onto the bed and leaned down started to press kisses and make marks against his neck and under his jaw. Sebastian heard the sounds coming from Luke and felt Luke tugging at the bottom of his t-shirt and Sebastian pulled back and pulled his shirt off over his head tossing it on to the floor.

They let out a breath as they were all done both laying next to each other shirtless, Luke was fighting the urge to cuddled against Sebastian’s very inviting chest but he knew that would be to much right now.

“Feel any different?” Luke questioned as he stared over at his best friend and now he guesses his fuck buddy.

“No.” Sebastian shook his head as he looked at their dorm ceiling, he fiddled with sheet on the bed, slighty confused why he wants to move closer to Luke and be touching him again but he shook that off and hopped out of bed.

“Thank you Lu.” Sebastian mumbled not looking Luke as he headed to their bathroom to take a shower.

“Course Sebby.” Luke whispered to himself hoping one day Sebastian will hopefully want to stay with him in bed.

Luke walked into their dorm room and dropped his backpack on the floor, he heard the shower running and saw Sebastian’s backpack by his desk.

Sadly the two don’t share every class so some days Sebastian will get back before Luke. Luke slipped his shoes off and walked over crawling into Sebastian’s bed and breath out a sigh of relief smelling Sebastian cologne on the sheets.

Luke moved his head slighty and felt something under the pillow, he lifted the pillow and saw a sketch book.

Luke knew that Sebastian draws as he has seen him draw every once in a while, Luke has never actually seen anything Sebastian has drawn.

Luke gently grabbed the sketchbook and bit his lip wanting to respect Sebastian’s privacy and not look but he’s always wanted to see anything Sebastian has drawn so he took a deep breath and hoped he wouldn’t be mad when he finds out.

Luke flipped open the sketch book and the was already in awe just on the first page, he flipped through a few more pages and then it was like his breath was taken away.

It was a perfectly drawn portrait of Luke with a wide smile, Luke let out a breath noticing how Sebastian drew him perfect down to the tiny details. He flipped to the next page and saw another drawing of him and he was laying down, Luke could tell Sebastian had drew this from his view when they cuddle.

Luke had thought he couldn’t be more fond of Sebastian but he was wrong. Sebastian had drew him as just Luke, not Luke Hughes hockey player or Jack and Quinn’s brother. Sebastian saw him as just Luke.

Luke was so focused on looking at all of the drawings he didn’t even hear the shower turn off. Sebastian walked out with his hair still dripping and a pair of basketball shorts he was not sure if they were Luke’s or his.

Sebastian titled his head seeing Luke looking through his sketch book, Sebastian walked over wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s waist resting his chin on Luke’s shoulder pressing a kiss to his jawline.

“Hi Sebby.” Luke felt the tension melt from his body as he was in Sebastian’s arms once more. Luke knew if Sebastian was upset about him looking at his sketch book he wouldn’t be hugging and kissing him.

“Hello my love.” Sebastian whispered contently nudging his nose against Luke’s neck.

“You draw me?” Luke fiddled with Sebastian’s hands.

“You’re the easiest thing for me to draw.” Sebastian softly replied, “I have always drawn my emotions that i’m feeling and most of the time it’s just you.” Sebastian softly kissed Luke’s cheek.

Luke felt his face soften even more and he turned around wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, “I love you my sweet boy.” Luke emotionally choked out for the first time.

Sebastian froze slighty hearing words he hasn’t heard towards him in years and let out an emotional breath as his grip on Luke tightened, “I love you too baby.” Sebastian pressed multiple soft kisses to the top of Luke’s curls.

Luke let out a watery laugh and pressed a soft kiss to his shoulder.

Luke and Sebastian could’ve stayed there hours holding each other but eventually and reluctantly they released each other.

“You can look at more later.” Sebastian told Luke as he picked his sketch book up and tossed it on the night stand before hopping into his bed and holding his arms open towards Luke giving him a hopeful look.

Luke just softly smiled at his sweet boy and quickly climbed into his bed am cuddled against Sebastian’s bare chest, resting his head against Sebastian’s chest hearing his heartbeat.

Sebastian’s fingers gently started running through Luke’s crazy curls, Luke happily hummed and his body all but melted into his boyfriend. Sebastian kissed the top of his Luke’s head before letting his eyes shut and falling fast asleep.

September 12, 2017

Sebastian stepped onto the ice, his stick in his hand as he skated onto the ice with the other boys that are near his age. It was the first practice for his minor team in Michigan. Sebastian and his family had moved a few weeks ago and were settling into their new home.

Sebastian was not even paying attention to the chatter of his new teammates and just looking at his skates, the coach skated onto the ice and started calling out the lines.

“Hughes, Boldy.” The coach called gaining Sebastian’s attention.

Luke skated over to Boldy, “I’m Luke.” Luke introduced himself to his new defensive partner.

“Sebastian.” Sebastian curtly nodded.

Sebastian and Luke started practicing together and it was like an immediate click and anyone could tell that those two were made to be each others partners.

Luke rushed out after practice and saw the tall boy walking away, “Boldy!” Luke called out jogging over to him.

Sebastian turned around and raised an eyebrow at his new defensive partner.

Luke just cheekily smirked and stood next to him and staring to walk with him, “Your brother is Matt right?” Luke questioned as they both started walking out of the arena. Luke had met Jack’s new friend and teammate Matt Boldy a few weeks ago.

Sebastian nodded and stuffed his hands into his pockets, “Yours is Jack?” Sebastian had heard about the Hughes from his brothers.

“Yup.” Luke nodded, “Are you walking to the other rink?” Luke asked as they seemed to both be walking to the same way and Luke knew Jack had practice right now and Luke gets picked up there with Jack.

Sebastian nodded and Luke left it at that getting the feeling Sebastian didn’t like to talk a lot.

They started their tradition of walking together after every practice.

Sebastian and Luke had come right back to Michigan after the last playoff game, they went right home to Ellen and Jim’s house for a good few days before Quinn and Jack had came home as well.

Jack headed to the lake house and met up with quite a few of his friends before Quinn, Luke and Sebastian came a day after.

Sebastian was carrying a big duffel bag that was mixed of his and Luke’s stuff and Luke had their back pack, the house was quiet when the three walked in meaning that all the boys are out on the boat.

Sebastian and Luke headed up the stairs and down the hallway having always shared the same room at the lake house and the room that is farthest from anyone else’s room.

Sebastian and Luke both let out a sigh as they stepped into their room as both of them have always felt more relaxed when they are home in Michigan but especially in their room at the lake house.

Sebastian tossed their bag down by their dresser and slipped off his shirt leaving him in pair of Lululemon work out shorts, he slid off his slides and hopped onto the bed and buried his head into the pillow and smiled when he smelt the freshly washed sheets and would need to tell Ellen thank you.

Luke smiled softly as he slipped the back pack off and onto the ground, he has always loved how much Sebastian relaxes at the lake house especially during summer time.

Luke slid off his shoes and went to their bag and grabbed one of Sebastian’s hoodies and slipped it on.

He walked over to the bed and lay down next to his boyfriend and immediately Sebastian scooted as close to Luke as possible and put his head onto Luke’s chest sighing in relief as he relaxed onto Luke and Luke gently wrapped his arms around Sebastian and started gently scratching his head.

Sebastian and Luke were genuinely surprised not more people had figured out they were together, the two were never trying to hide their relationship and while they were not the most PDA couple they still touched each other a lot.

They literally share a room at the lake house and sleep in the same bed and no one has said anything about them being together. Luke was certain that Jack knew but Sebastian knew there was no way Jack figured it out.

Sebastian knew his brother Matt was here and was always slightly uncomfortable around him but not as much as he was around their older brother Michael and Dad. Once his mom left it was like their family no longer knew each other and knew how to act around each other.

Once Luke found out how distant Sebastian and his family is, Sebastian has spent almost every holiday and almost the entire summer break with the Hughes family, and during his years at the program Sebastian’s family moved back to their home town so he stayed with the Hughes family for those two years and through out covid.

Jim always loves having his fourth son around and Sebastian is the only one Jim let’s help him with the grill and Sebastian loves learning more and more every time Jim and him cook on the grill.

It was obvious to anyone that Ellen has absolutely adored Sebastian since the second she met him and immediately adopted him as her son, Sebastian was the most hesitant around Ellen because of the scars his own birth mother has left him but Ellen was hard not to love.

Quinn simply just loved Sebastian and it was always nice that Sebastian just would sit with him and they didn’t need to talk to be comfortable. Quinn has always loved how much Sebastian loves Luke and it makes Quinn feel better that the two always have each other.

Jack completely adopted Sebastian, like he’s telling everyone he’s got three brothers and Sebastian is his little brother. Jack never cares if Sebastian is grumpy or snappy Jack loves him all the same. Jack and Sebastian are basically a golden retriever and grumpy cat becoming friends.

Luke and Sebastian must of laid cuddling together dosing off and on for an hour before they heard the loud voices of the boys and Sebastian groaned hiding his face more into Luke’s chest not wanting to move especially as he’s happily content laying with Luke.

“Come on sweet boy.” Luke softly cooed running a hand through Sebastian’s hair which was longer than normal and Luke would not be surprised if Sebastian got it cut soon as he knows Sebastian hates when his own hair is long.

“Can’t i stay here.” Sebastian unhappily grumbled holding onto Luke tighter.

“We can but we both know Jack will come find us.” Luke let out a chuckle knowing Jack will literally search the whole house to find them.

“Fine.” Sebastian unhappily sat up pouting slightly, he crossed his arms over his chest not looking happy.

Luke let out a fond chuckle and leaned up as well, he ran his hand through his Sebastian’s hair fixing it and pressed a soft kiss to Sebastian’s lips and pulled away and smirked at Sebastian’s unhappy sound, “Later.” Luke promised.

“Fine.” Sebastian groaned and reluctantly let Luke pull him off the bed and they walked out of their room and down the hallway and down the stairs to the living room where they can hear the boys.

Jack looked up and smiled widely seeing his two little brothers as he hadn’t seen them two days ago, he quickly got up and pulled them into a group hug.

Sebastian and Luke both hugged him back and had to pull back because Jack would hug them forever.

Matt smiled soflty seeing his baby brother who is nowhere near little anymore and that always makes him sad, “Hi Seb.” Matt soflty greeted as he walked over to his younger brother.

“Hey Matty.” Sebastian nodded and gave him a small smile, it wasn’t that Sebastian didn’t love Matt, he did he’s his brother but they aren’t close at all anymore and Matt found family in other people and so did Sebastian.

Matt pulled him into a small hug and smiled and back away.

Trevor walked over and ruffled both of the two’s hair, “What’s up baby hughes and baby boldly.” Trevor always felt oddly old when he saw the two growing up as he met them when they were so young.

“Hi Z.” Luke fondly rolled his eyes at his brother’s best friend. Sebastian nodded at Trevor.

Cole smiled softly at the two from the couch and Alex sent them a wave, Ty nodded and grinned at the both.

Sebastian moved over to the corner of the couch and plopped down and Luke plopped down next to him and put his legs over Sebastian’s lap.

“What are we watching?” Alex looked up from his phone.

“Maverick!” Trevor and Jack shouted dramatically in unison both of them looking offended that it was even a question what they were watching.

Jack plopped down on the other side of Sebastian with Matt next to him and Trevor next to Matt, with Cole, Alex and Ty next to Matt and Quinn sat down on the other side of Luke.

Luke rested his head onto Sebastian shoulder and closed his eyes relaxing into his boyfriend.

Sebastian was scrolling on his phone and didn’t even take his eyes off to press a soft kiss to Luke’s curls.

Jack who had looked over paused when he saw the two and titled his head, his question was answered when Luke looked up and press a quick peck to Sebastian’s lips and Jack eyes widen, “Are you two together?” Jack spoke up looking shocked and making the rest of the room turn to them.

“Your serious?” Luke looked incredulous at his brother and groaned dramatically and looked at a smirking Sebastian, “You were right.”

“I told you.” Sebastian smirked and shared a look with Quinn both of them chuckling because they told Luke there was no way Jack figured it out.

“Wait are you?” Jack demanded quickly he needed to know if his two favorite people are together.

“Jacky we’ve been together for a year and a half.” Luke told him realizing Jack truly hadn’t figured it out.

“WHATT!” Jack yelled looking shocked, “I-i why didn’t you tell me?” Jack looked at them slighty hurt that they didn’t tell him.

Luke and Sebastian shared a look their intentions were never to hurt Jack, “We didn’t tell anyone, just wanted to keep it us but we weren’t trying to hide it.” Luke explained to his brother, “I thought you knew and you weren’t saying anything.” Luke sheepishly explained not realizing maybe he should have just told Jack straight forward.

Matt felt sad he didn’t even know his brother liked guys but let alone in a relationship for a year and a half with his best friend. Matt realized just how fart apart he was to his baby brother now, he was glad that Sebastian has found a family because of Luke and he looked happy so truthfully that’s all Matt could ask for.

Jack nodded realizing he most likely didn’t even realize things they did that weren’t platonic and knew they weren’t hiding it from him.

He leaned forward and pulled them both into a tight hug, “I’m happy for you both.” Jack smiled and pressed a kiss to both of their heads and then ruffled both of their hair.
