i do not understand why atla writers still didn't make azula happy/gave her redemption/made her heal, it doesn't make any fucking sense why people that made atla, that made so many good deep heartbreaking stories didn't do the same with the traumatized 14 YEAR OLD

i know they wanted to do that, i know they didn't had enough time after the show, but they made comics, they made books and I dont understand why they keep doing other things then writings the healing of azula, they can do this, they showed it with different characters in atla and tlok so why not azula? almost everyone can agree that the comics are a disappointment but the biggest one for me is the lack of azulas redemption, we have the fundaments for it (the search comic and azula in the spirit temple) so do it.

I redrew (and redesigned) my Portal boi because he definitely needed a refresh!

Sum details:

His mask broke during the long fall in Portal 2 but he kept it anyway

I'm going with the stupid "Portal 2 happens 50 000 years into the future" theory because it's complete nonsense and I fucking love it so, because he spent so long in the Relaxation Vault, he got very pale (he was already pale in Portal 1 but not as bad)

For the same reason, his hair grew pretty long (he shaved it after escaping)

He got the massive burn scar on his left arm from an energy pellet grazing him

Oh yeah, trans rights also

And I just realized that I never shared his backstory here so it's under the cut if you're curious!

In chronological order:

Mitch creates Aperture

He puts Ophelia at the head of the entire facility

Ophelia realizes that Pedro would make the perfect test subject so she wipes his memory -it's the first and only time that a full memory wipe is done on a subject- She then realizes that watching him test would make her feel bad so she gives him the mask to hide his face. That way, she can watch him test without any remorse.

After a few tests, she puts him in a cryo-chamber (because she wants to put him through much harder tests that have not been invented yet)

Mitch and Denny are (forcefully) hired as test subjects but are brainwashed. They are both put in cryo-chambers

Not long after, Ophelia decides to turn herself into an android so she can live forever and control the entire facility. The scientists warn her that this can cause severe memory loss and mild insanity. She does it anyway and loses all memories of her human life. She now has full control over Aperture.

Judging all the scientists useless, Ophelia floods the Enrichment Center with a deadly neurotoxin

Portal 1 happens

At the start of Portal 2, Pedro is woken up by banana Pedro (who is a core in this AU) who wants to help him to get out of here.

Basically the same story happens. But Pedro eventually encounters Mitch and Denny who try to take him down. He kills them in return (Denny didn't have his long fall boots)

They finally get to Ophelia. Though, contrary to Wheatley (who got corrupted by the mainframe), Core!Pedro was actually planning to take Ophelia's place from the beginning. He stuffs Ophelia in a potato battery (she appears as an hologram being projected from the weird eye/circle thingy on it) and sends she and Pedro down the elevator shaft

Pedro's mask breaks during the fall, which leads Ophelia to realize that his face feels familiar after they reunite

While going through old Aperture, Pedro and Ophelia learns the truth about themselves (thanks to all the pre-recorded messages)

The rest of the game happens pretty similarly, except that at the end, after shooting Core!Pedro into space, Ophelia tries to get Pedro back to testing (after all, he IS the perfect test subject). Pedro refuses and attempts to destroy her. He fails, but Ophelia gives up and lets him go as she does not want someone who will try to destroy her 24/7

Basically like in Blue Sky, Pedro ends up in a small town where the people help him back to full health. He settles here and eventually finds out he has great cooking and baking skills and gets his own little cake shop (I'm not sure I still want this to be the post-game for this AU but I'll leave this here anyway)

I have the sudden urge to make an all for the game amv set to "I wanna be your slave" by måneskin just because I have a VERY vivid image of a scene with all the foxes standing in a circle back to back to each other and the camera spinning around in fits and stops and focusing on each of them during the chorus that goes "and I'm a __ that is searching for redemption" and each of them is focused on in one of the blanks, I can't stop thinking about it it's ruining my life

Here is the thing. I actually like the SET UP of Azula's role in The Search.

If they had done it well I'd even call the three comics some of my favorite! Cause there is some other, smaller things I actually liked in it. Again, if they hadn't screwed up with Azula so badly. Because yea, they totally trashed the set up they had.

The thing is, AZULA BEGUN TO ACTUALLY VENT AND TALK ABOUT HER FEELINGS WITH THE EVERYONE ON APPA. Like she ACTUALLY was talking about all of them seemingly instantly labling her as an enemy felt and how she feels on some level her mother is out to get her. Obviously not being in touch with reality there, but she is TALKING about it and not in a threating way that would shut any conversation down. Maybe a bit agressively but still, not truely threatening.

If everyone weren't so OOC, if they didn't have something insane happen every time she did this...the group with her might have even been able to work with her. Help her. Zuko spesifically.

This is why I want to have some hope for Azula In The Spirit Temple. It seems like Azula is gonna be forced to sit with these feelings and these ideas, mull over how she feels about them and what she wants. And how much those thoughts match reality. I just really hope they don't let the chance be missed again to actually move her character somewhere with that.

I don't care how small the move is, I don't chare how little it makes a difference within the comic itself. Just the littlest change after refelecting on the the things it seems she will be and I will be overjoyed.

"Bah dah!" Luke happily cheered with a sweep of his hand as he opened the door revealing the interior of the apartment. Much larger than she was anticipating and definitely way outside of her price range.

"Oh, my." Julie exhaled hesitant to even step into the place, only moving because Alex and Reggie gently push her. The three of them are smiling, looking so proud of themselves. "Guys this place looks amazing, but--"

"But what?" Luke cut her off, his pride slipping off for a second. Only a second though he soon recovers. "This place has everything you wanted and more, a spacious kitchen with great appliances."

"An amazing shower and tub big enough to almost swim in." Reggie said as he hopped onto one of the counters.

"Sound proof bedrooms." Alex said unapologetically as he leaned on the counter beside Reggie, and making Julie's face go a few degrees warmer.

"And that all sounds great. And I really appreciate your help." Julie said hoping no one caught them practically breaking into the place. "But there is no way I can afford this. Could you imagine the rent on this place?"

"The what now?" Reggie asked, and Julie turned to see three faces in varying states of confusion.

"What's to afford, it's yours." Alex added with a shrug.

She was about to argue, when she remembered when they'd originally offered to help her find an apartment. 'We'll get you a place' they had said and she'd foolishly assumed they misspoke.

"Oh my gosh, did you guys steal this place?" She barely managed to keep herself from shouting.

"Stealing implies someone was using it." Reggie was quick to say.

Luke emphatically nodded from nearby, "Man's right, can't steal it if it was empty to begin with."

"What?" She looked between the two of them, though they seemed confused by why she was upset. "You can't just go around breaking into empty apartments."

Oh, oh god, they needed to leave. They needed to leave right this second, this place was bound to have some sort of security system they must have triggered some time ago.

The other three did nothing to help her get them out of the place. Continuing to argue with her as she did her best to hurriedly herd them out.

"Jules. Julie, wait." Alex managed to break free from her grip at the door, pulling out a small stack of paper seemingly out of nowhere. "The place really does belong to you."

"What?" She screeched, immediately feeling the sound tear at her throat. She snatched the papers from him.

"Well, it belong to all of us technically. " Alex amended as she looked over the documents in her hand.

Sure enough, the title clearly declared her, Reggie, Luke, and Alex as not just renting, but owning the very apartment they were standing in.

How was she going to explain this one?

a bit about myself: she/her. I'm currently in my late 20's and have been writing/roleplaying in some shape or form for 12+ years. i'm in grad school (and will be for awhile) and work full time in mental healthcare. occasionally, days are wild.

when it comes to writing, i generally write somewhere between 500-1k words a post. the shorter the post, the faster i can write. i definitely value someone who's writing fits with mine over length or anything like that. i'm also super flexible when it comes to post rate. if it takes a little bit, that's totally fine! especially if we do build a rapport. i want this to stay as something that's fun for both of us. it's a hobby, so it comes after everything else.

doubling. i play a canon for you, you play one for me, and i love every character as my own. OR we both play two ocs who fall in love against their will. Idc.

for christmas, kai never really got into it. he spent the holidays alone as his parents never cared much for being around for him. for the most part, he would either spend it in his room or with ryouta and reo. after running away, he clearly couldn’t do that anymore and when he was on his own and without a home, he didn’t even care about it at all for obvious reasons.

similarly, ryouta spent his christmas’ with reo as their dad didn’t care much to spend it with them either. ryouta LOVED christmas and loved buying reo a ton of gifts when they were younger, but when kai ran away and ryouta moved out of their family home, he stopped seeing reo for holidays and spent his christmas alone, drinking for the most part. truly a lonely time of year for him.

going back to kai, it wasn’t until kai moved in with wren that kai started slowly getting into the spirit of christmas. wren would prompt kai into decorating, christmas shopping, and gift-giving. while kai would always act like he didn’t care for it, and he truly didn’t at first, he slowly began to see the appeal when he got to spend the holiday with a positive and caring influence in his life. wren’s dad would also come over for a special christmas dinner and the three of them would have a great time.

in a sense, it healed a part of him and now he actually looks forward to christmas with wren and his dad. he’s too broke to buy gifts, but he usually will find ways to give some sort of gift for people he really cares about, whether that be a piece of artwork he did or cooking them their favorite meal. he’s always been thoughtful and it definitely pleases him to be able to express that now.
