I just know the Potter children grew up in the public eye, always being photographed by the Daily Prophet, and that Harry would've tried his damnest to let them have a normal life away from the spotlight. I also feel like Albus would've had the roughest time (even before starting Hogwarts) since he looks the most like his father.

Evident from Albus and Scorpius' first conversation on the train, we know Scorpius has seen photographs of the Potter children. And Scorpius mentioned always wanting to get into mayhem with his very own friends "just like Harry Potter."

And we know Scorp is an avid reader, so I feel like he would've learned as much as he could about the Potter children. Especially since he said he "checked the Daily Prophet every morning" for news about Hogwarts, he definitely would've come across any/all headlines/gossip the media printed about the Potter children.

All this to say, Scorpius must've had a crush on Albus long before he met him.

A Cursed Child Theory: Albus was sorted into Slytherin because Scorpius was.

The facts:

The sorting hat will take your wishes into account if you feel strongly enough

Albus felt very strongly about not wanting to be in Slytherin

The hat wasn't sure at first: "He puts his hat on ALBUS’s head – and this time he seems to take longer – almost like he too is confused."

So why was he sorted into Slytherin?

Because Scorpius was sorted into Slytherin, and Scorpius asked him if he wanted to be called Al or Albus.

We know our boy hates people calling him Al.

We know he feels an intense pressure to be who his family wants him to be.

Scorpius' first instinct was to ask him what he wanted to be called. In Albus' eyes, Scorpius was the first person in his life to put his wishes first. PLUS, we can only assume that after the scene cuts the two had the time of their little lives chatting on that train journey.

So when Scorpius was sorted into Slytherin, a little subconscious part of Albus' brain went "if he's in Slytherin, it's okay if I am too" and that's why the hat decided Slytherin.

In the first alternate universe (in the original script) he's in Gryffindor. Why? There's no Rose to force him to try and make a friend on the train, therefore no meeting with Scorpius, therefore he gets put in Gryffindor because Slytherin now has no redeeming qualities to him.

Scorpius' kind lil soul is the reason Albus Potter was put in Slytherin.

Is ist just me or has anyone else a favourite Scorpius actor? I mean there are so many amazing actors who portrayed him. But for me there’s just one specific actor in my Head when I imagine Scorpius.

i’ve been too busy to draw it but does anyone remember the headcannon that when you marry a malfoy your hair starts to turn their iconic platinum blond color too? and that’s why narcissa’s hair looks the way it does in the movies? well i can’t stop thinking about albus and scorpius getting married and scorpius completely forgetting to mention it and like a only a week in to their marriage Albus freaks out over finding “grey hairs” in a small section at his hairline and they slowly take over in cool streaks like narcissa’s but with albus’ wild potter hair. scorpius is obsessed with how it looks but let’s be real he’s always been obsessed with albus’ hair

i need to write a fic where albus and scorpius start dating but albus hasn’t told his family yet and they end up spending some of summer together and james proposes a scheme to do together because he feels guilty about not being a better brother to albus.

and james, being slightly oblivious, thinks albus sees scorpius as a brother and out of guilt and his desire to prove that he really does care about his little brother he keeps pushing to spend more time with him but it just comes across like he doesn’t like scorpius.

and albus, thinking that james hates scorpius, is super nervous to tell his family about them dating because he thinks james will be mad.

rose and lily know exactly what’s going on on both sides but neither with intervene because; rose doesn’t think it’s right to meddle in their relationships and thinks they should sort it out and; lily sees this as an opportunity to cause chaos.

hugo’s vaguely aware of what’s going on but is mostly interested in helping lily cause problems.

teddy is the only one who knows about albus and scorpius dating and james’ fears from the people themselves and is the person they defer to for advice. unfortunately for them, teddy has decided to play the role of “older sibling that encourages your worse impulses”

harry: the children are getting along really well actually :)

Albus Potter's strong point and weak point is Scorpius Malfoy.

considering how attached scorp was to astoria, i feel like their relationship is HEINOUSLY under-explored by fandom. if anything astoria’s impact on scorp is just used as a minor plot device to give scorp some temporary angst in fics. which makes sense bcuz the cursed child play wasnt much better at making astoria seem like a fully fleshed out presence. but shes still there. yes, scorpius followed albus through time for him, but what was his first hope when coming back to his own timeline? was it about cedric? no, it was about her.

its not a leap at all to say that she was the person he loved most in his life at that stage, not albus or draco. she was his whole world the way only a mother can be, her kindness shines through him, her influence makes scorpius the character that he is and the personality that we love. and i feeeeel like fandom should be aware of that when writing scorpius’ character.

You all talk about Albus jealousy in fics but Scorpius is a possessive boi as well.

He didn't want Delphi to tag along because he was irritated by her flirting with Albus. The script was written as if he first declared that Delphi shouldn't come, the justification comes second. They could have found a way to make her not stand out but Scorpius was like no don't come either way. And Albus priority is Scorpius so there's no way he would say no to him. And I think that's a trope in their relationship later on. Scorpius understands that someone tries to get between them and discreetly pulls Albus away from them and Albus is like "ok, sure".

He was mad when he heard that Albus owled her not because Albus didn't owl him( he figured out Harry was the one to separate them ) but because he felt like this girl now could just snoop in and he could do nothing about that. It's like a homophobic dad split apart his son and his lover and the latter is wondering how many times this other girl is seeing his love interest. And the question " are you okay, red and sweaty at the same time" clearly meant " did you like it? Because it looks like it", because come on no-one can get hurt by a kiss on the cheek, it was meant to be accusatory. Scorpius appears naive and dorky on these subjects but in reality he might know much more about that stuff than Albus. By that time, he hasld already visualised him and Albus in several non platonic scenarios and he is also the first one to give a romantic hug ( I mean, he hugs him from steps below and rests his head on Albus heart? ) This hug suggests adoration and longing, I mean look at his smile, it screams " I love that man and want to cuddle with him".

Albus jealousy can serve in fics as comedic effect because he is impulsive, direct, funny and petty. But Scorpius jealousy is just sad and deep because the boi can pick up on the subtlest form of interest coming from another person for Albus. And a part of him will always fear that Albus Potter being conventionally more handsome and socially acceptable can find someone better even tho Albus proves him wrong every single day.

It's interesting to note that Albus got jealous when Scorpius showed interest in another person and Scorpius got jealous when another person showed Albus interest. Albus deep down fears that he might not be a good boyfriend to Scorpius and that might make the latter feel unfulfilled and unconsciously look for someone else. Scorpius is much more confident as a boyfriend ( and he is a faster learner when it comes to interpersonal and intimate practicalities compared to Albus ) and his biggest fear is that the other people that show interest in Albus might make him realise he settled for Scorpius when he could have so much more.
