this is how i see eras of the Scooby franchise:
• classic classic era: the very beginning. anything from SDWAY to the last episode before Scrappy makes his first appearance in the franchise.
• still classic era in my head but it’s the Scrappy era: Scrappy’s first season-Reluctant Werewolf movie (with the exception of Goes Hollywood, because that doesn’t have Scrappy in it, so that one will go in the classic classic era)
• still classic era but it’s right before the classic era officially ends: A Pup Named Scooby Doo
• Arabian Nights is it’s own era because i don’t know which category to put it in
• mook era: Zombie Island-Cyber Chase. start of DTV movie era
• live action era: Scooby Doo (2002)-Monsters Unleashed
• movies that aren’t What’s New but don’t go into any other category either: Legend of the Vampire-Monster of Mexico
• What’s New era: What’s New series, Loch Ness Monster-Samurai Sword
• Get a Clue era: Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get a Clue series
• live action era reloaded: mystery begins and curse of the lake monster
• modern era part 1/DTV movie era extended: mystery incorporated series, abracadabra doo-stage fright. yes this includes mystery map. where they start doing 2 DTV movies a year
• modern era part 2: first wwe movie-gourmet ghost. this also includes Be Cool, Daphne & Velma, and the LEGO movies
• sequel movie era/modern era part 3: 13th ghost-happy halloween. also includes Guess Who series and SCOOB (they’re not sequel movie era, they are just modern era part 3, but 13th ghost-happy halloween are also modern era part 3 while being sequel movie era) these were released around the same time so that’s why they’re all put together here
• modern era part 4: the sword and the scoob-krypto movie

Got bored, made Fred Jones' family tree (explanation below)
Tumblr media
Fred Jones' biological parents are Brad Chiles and Judy Reeves (as revealed in the 2010-2013 series: Scooby-Doo! Mystery incorporated), Fred was taken shortly after birth by The Mayor, Aka Fred Jones senior (also revealed in Scooby-Doo! Mystery incorporated) In the 2018 movie Scooby-Doo! And the Gourmet Ghost, Bobby Flay (the chef) is told to be Fred's uncle. But...Bobby Flay, doesn't have any siblings, he does, however have 3 exe wives. His wife that he had a daughter with doesn't disclose her family to the public. But his most recent wife, Stephanie March (2005-2015), has a sister, Charlotte March. If Charlotte March was married to The Mayor then that would have made Bobby Flay Fred's uncle by marriage (before they got divorced in 2015) so if these speculations are correct it places Scooby-Doo! And the Gourmet Ghost within the 2005-2015 timeframe. Bobby Flay is connected to Fred's (illegally) adoptive and not biological family because Fred knew Bobby Flay was his uncle but did not know about his biological parents. (I also chose to place Charlotte as The Mayor's partner rather than sister just because of last names)

🏡🎃🎶💀
Thank you tooba!! Can I just say you post a lot of interesting Scooby stuff and I really appreciate your contributions to the fandom! :D
🏡 - Coolsville or Crystal Cove? I am gonna have to go with Coolsville all the way! I MISS COOLSVILLE! But I do like that Crystal Cove exists as a kind of alternative canon if you know what I mean? it's kind of like a scooby canon but from a different dimension. But yeah I miss coolsville i miss fred shaggy and scooby living in their weird little house from wnsd, I miss daphne and velma and their little pink science crib.
🎃 - favorite holiday special/episode/movie? I really like A Scooby Doo Valentine since it kind of shows the gang off the road. We finally kind of get to see how they live when they're not van people. I also like scooby doo and the spooky scarecrow. It just has an amazing atmosphere and is definitely one of my favorites from the DTV series. And idk if birthdays count? But I LOVE Happy Birthday Scooby Doo! Everything about it. How the gang gets together again. Daphne, Shaggy and Scrappy planning Scooby's birthday. Velma and Fred finally getting back with the gang. And Scooby is soooo happy to see them like he is literally doing zooomies and I find that so adorable. peak dog behavior i love him.
🎶 - favorite song? Ok so from the chase scenes in the original SDWAY my favorite is daydreamin'. The snack track had no reason to be that damn good. I tell you hwat.
From the hex girls It's a mystery. I'ts kind of different and more slow than i'm a hex girl and earth, wind, fire and air. And I guess this would be my ultimate favorite song from Scooby Doo? ngl scooby snacks is a banger too. we got packs n packs we got packs n packs
💀 - scariest villain? Ummmm ok so I've prob said this before but when I was a kid I used to have very vivid nightmares about the green ghosts from A night of fright is no delight. In my dream I'm running away from the ghost and the safe space is the living room but right before I'm about to enter the living room I lose all my strength and can't even move. And then the ghost sucks a strawberry out of my ear?! very weird end and it's not even that scary BUT I WAS A KID AND I WAS TERRIFIED. and i didnt even find them that scary irl 🤨 like i would watch the episode just fine
Scooby doesn't really have villains who are that scary. And in the older shows I think it was the backgrounds and atmosphere that would give that creepy and eerie feeling more so than the villains themselves. And it makes sense it's supposed to be goofy.
I would also nominate the banshee from Camp Scare (i guess its the effect of the jumpscare more than her design) and the Phantom from gourmet ghost. I think they did a really good job at making them look scary. Probably one of the scariest villains imo. Also Aphrodite from SDMI.

Note
Watching Scooby Doo and the Gourmet Ghost. Kind of surprised they got a few celebrities to lend their voices in this
Scooby Doo content is notorious for getting celebrity voices
They did it back in the 70’s with the Scooby Doo movies and have kept that tradition for coming years

👻 i just watched the gourmet ghost!! here are a couple of Thoughts (spoilers ahead)
🍗 i think this is just me being british but i genuinely have no idea who bobby flay is. he sure is fred’s uncle! and a surprisingly good voice actor! so is giada, who i also didn’t know until i watched this film. they were both a lot of fun to watch!
🥘 ahh yes i love the classic scooby doo gags. “i can’t find my glasses”, “would you do it for a scooby snack” and “gee [insert mystery inc member here], it sure was nice of your uncle to invite us to his [insert ridiculously expensive location here]”
🧀 nacho is my new favourite scooby doo character. all of the animation budget went to him and i’m 100% ok with that
🍝 if i had a dollar for every time an author/historian was the villain in a scooby doo movie i would have. a lot of dollars
🥒 every time the scooby doo franchise puts fred in overalls and/or a suit my life expectancy increases so much. god bless
🍪 the gang’s formal outfits in general though. *chef’s kiss* (pun not intended)
🥖 i feel like the overall pacing, some low-quality animation and repetitive jokes held this movie back a bit
🍅 BUT i absolutely loved the mystery (though the villain was predictable), the villain design, the setting and its history! the opening credits sequence was simple but so cool
🍔 overall i would give it a 6.5/10! very cool concept that i felt could have been executed just slightly better
🥗 wb if you are reading this i have a pitch for you. scooby doo and the gourmet ghost 2, featuring velma’s uncle gordon ramsay
