Lizzie, I'm making a newish list just for you. In order of my least popular words on A03 (I hope that makes sense)
Tanabata - I love my tiny Ruth/Stevie ship and will keep waving its flag forever.
Lighting Bolt Sweater - I'm including my only 'fan art' because it's you who asked. I had a lot of fun making these for Christmas and will now rack my brain to think of a new one for this year.
Trunk or Treat - I really enjoy writing fluff and AUs and this is a mix of both.
Not like a "sleepover" Sleepover - This was my first fic in SC. It will always probably hold a special place in my heart.
It's still a WIP but I've really been enjoying writing By The Seashore which is about Autistic!David that lives nearish my home instead of all the way in Oz Canada. (I'm Autistic and in real life a very active part of our neurodivergent community)

The weather is warming up and that means it’s time for baseball! My knowledge of baseball is slim but my appreciation is tenfold. Whether it’s watching the game, playing (professionally or community), or the aftermaths of the MVP, I’m going to try and cover it all. I wanted to make recs, but a little more in-depth, and because of this there may be some slight spoilers.

Summary: In spite of its shortcomings – the indisputable noise, the endless sea of people, the labyrinth of streets and avenues, and the overall sensory overload – there’s enough for Patrick to appreciate about New York.
Thoughts: I’ll be the first to admit that baseball isn’t the sole focus of this fic. What I’ll say instead is that baseball is used in a way here to connect to the overarching theme of what home looks like for an individual and ways in which it becomes so. I really enjoy fics that cover what would have happened if David and Patrick did move to New York and this one is so gorgeous. It captures so much in exactly 1.5k (I’m a sucker for round numbers), and with the POV on Patrick we get a perfect grasp of how he navigates the changes: the struggles and the joys. Plus, this is the author’s first SC fic and I just have to say they hit it out of the park.

Hi ! I was wondering if you could please rec some fics around David's shame eating/issues with food and his body that feature Patrick? And also David eating to the point of no return (I can definitely imagine this happening). Thank you!
I feel like there are a lot of SC fics that involve or mention this, even though there aren’t a lot in the tag? Anyway, in case you haven’t run the search already, here’s the list of all the fics tagged with ED in the SC fandom (it’s few, less than a page) - and the two fics tagged shame eating, and the four fics tagged body image issues. unsurprisingly, several of these also deal with other heavy stuff, so mind the tags.

You reblogged a post that said something about taako seeing different variations of Kravitz throughout the SC and him basically being in love with Kravitz since before he met him and anyways imagine taako revealing that to Kravitz for the first time and it’s during their wedding vows
LOL i feel like that’s a big bomb to drop on someone in the middle of their wedding though!!! that’s the kind of thing you have to have a conversation or two about. i am all for star-crossed lovers as a treat, but they should communicate!!!
also if this takes place post-sas wouldn’t kravitz have heard about “himself” when the voidfish did their broadcast :p

I love that you do fit recs and I've read (and loved) many of them. But the fanfic community here seems very clique-y. I have thought about trying to write but it seems like I would never have a chance to get involved because it's always the same people getting promoted.
obviously i can’t speak about anyone else’s experiences, but in my own, i’ve found the fanfic community here to be generally very welcoming to everyone. this is still a pretty small fandom, so people are always hungry for new fic. i’m not even close to being the only person who consumes pretty much everything that’s published, and from what i have seen, it seems that new writers actually get much more attention in this fandom than in other, much larger fandoms that i’ve been part of before.
of course, fandom does still have circles, with people finding others with whom they click, and i think that can go doubly so for writers because we often intentionally seek out support from others throughout the writing process--for betaing, idea generation, general cheerleading, etc. however, i would say that the majority of comments on and recs of my own fics definitely come from people i would consider outside my close personal circle, and vice versa--of the 130-ish authors on my fic rec masterlist, i think i’ve had actual conversations with... maybe 10 of them? so i think that even where people have built circles of support for themselves, they’re still reaching outside of those circles in terms of reading and kudosing and commenting and all that.
that being said, are there authors who appear more often in recs? sure. stephen king is always gonna appear on more horror book rec lists than someone who has just dropped their first book. that’s just a fact of life. there are always gonna be authors who are popular--because they’re considered to be good writers, because they’re particularly prolific, because they’ve got unique ideas that really stick with people, because they’ve been around a long while, etc etc etc--and while i get that that can make things feel daunting when you start, every one of those authors started the same place you are. the key is really to just write the things you want to write, to the best of your ability to write them, and your audience will find you.
to that end, you should also absolutely promo the hell out of yourself. if you believe that you’re doing good work, tell people know about it! don’t wait for other people to rec it. make posts (in all the appropriate sc tags) and tell people why they should read it. make title images or moodboards or, idk, word clouds or something, whatever you can to catch people’s attention and point them to your fics. get people excited about what you’re writing however you can. if you believe in it and are excited about it, other people will be too.

it's an app for group chatting basically, kind of centered around gaming but you can use it for anything. there are different "channels" you can make within one community for talking about different topics like fic recs, pet pics, etc. it also has the capability for voice chat rooms. reminds me that i was thinking of creating an sc discord....

HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO!
Another community fic rec has been long overdue, but we’re back! Thanks to everyone who voted on the theme for this one, and after a near tie, the result is: post-canon. So many new fics have been published since the last one, so let’s spread some love once again!
What does “post-canon” mean?
Anything that takes place after the main story ends. It can be immediately after or several years down the line.
NOTES:
Here is a link to the fic rec form.
We’re collecting two fics with each submission this time around in attempt to prevent any duplicates, labeled as both “primary” and “secondary.” This is the link to the spreadsheet in case you want to take a look and see what fics have already been chosen.
FAQ:
1. You do not have to submit a fic that is centered around David and Patrick. You can submit any pairing you’d like.
2. Fic length does not matter. It’s 20k? Awesome!
3. Anything post-canon can be submitted.
4. Please make sure you read everything you need to fill out in the form.

There’s no real drama, just two boys finding each other, falling in love, and taking care of each other. Perfect all around.”
Familiar Spirits (@sasstrick) “I just finished my 4th or 5th re-read of this witchy soulmate fic and it seems like the perfect time of year for all to enjoy! It’s cute, sweet, sexy, funny—it has it all! And also, the drama. I just love it!”

Patrick gets interested in photography after Ray fails to show up to take photos of Rose Apothecary's new products. It's so beautiful. I love how the author shows what Patrick loves about David. It has the right amount of angst with a very satisfying happy ending, mixed with some humorous bits here and there that make it, in my opinion, a great oneshot.”
