Rewrite Tag
A couple of rewrites from other writers here! If you do not wish your work or yourself to be included and/or linked in this list, please inform me and I will take that part down.
There's five rewritten snippets here, so please look under the cut for the rest of the rewrites, as well as a new line for rewriting from myself!
OG by @finickyfelix:
Shylar and Knoron hesitated for a moment, before she offered her arm, smiling up at him. His hands shook, but he took her arm, and they followed the others.
Mine:
Time stilled. One. Two. Three. Then Shylar offered him a smile and an arm. With shaky hands, Knoron forced himself to be polite and go along with the others - as things should be.
*Despite going through OP's blog, I wasn't able to identify which pronouns refer to which characters! These placeholders are supposed to be for the characters' names. EDIT: OP provided clarifications for the names. Thanks!
OG line by @melpomene-grey:
As her hand closed around the hilt of the sword, a vast, humming energy filled the room, and one by one, the gas lamps that lined the walls went out, blinking away like eyelids on a many-eyed machine. The doors behind her slammed shut, and she realised with a sinking feeling what had happened. They were trapped.
Mine:
Eyes cast on the prize, the woman swung her hand to grab the sword. She had merely touched its ornate hilt when a pulsating energy shook the room. Lamps burst. Darkness filled her vision. Pressure crushed her body. Sweat ran down her skin. Trapped. She were trapped! They were all trapped!
OG by @kaylinalexanderbooks
I ran out of the house and didn’t stop until I reached the edge of the forest, at which point I collapsed. I looked up, staring into the dark abyss of the woods in front of me. I dropped my gaze to the ground. The stupid grass was greener than I’d ever seen. I closed my eyes and sobbed for a moment. Not this again. Not again. Not again.
Mine:
I ran out the door. And ran. And ran. And ran. My legs soon gave out. I gasped for air. My blurry vision caught sight of green. The forest?! This has to be fake. I scanned left and right, but found nothing else but thick foliage and dark wood. No! Not again! My eyes prickled. I choked on tears. I need air. I can't do this again!
OG by @somethingclevermahogony (has some mention of gore):
The farmer wailed at the sight of his livelihood reduced to a tangled pile of broken timber and flesh. Narul had little time to catch his breath, Mikrab was back on his feet, his back dripped with the blood of the swine.
Mine (also still has mentions of gore):
Narul had barely gotten air into his system and Mikrab had only just managed to get his wobbly legs stable on the ground when they made eye contact with the farmer. A guttural screech echoed through the land. The scattered lumber, lumps of flesh, and splashes of blood meant a gruesome cleanup for everyone involved, but the farmer's well-meaning companions agreed - with fatigued grimaces - that this was all the fault of the man's highly priced and aggressive boar stud in the first place.
OG by @illarian-rambling:
He traced one of the images with a finger; two gods debated furiously on twin mountain peaks. A mature woman with ears of gold, a winged lizard coiled around her feet, and a young girl holding a copper-furred hound by the scruff. Their faces were so similar, like a mother and daughter.
Mine:
A certain portrait caught his eye - a depiction of two gods, from within their own mountains. With an amused smile, his finger trailed around the gods' strikingly alike faces. On one side proudly stood a woman with a golden headdress and a winged lizard by her feet; on the other a young girl held a defiant gaze in her eyes and a red hound by her hands. A very typical mother and daughter pair, it seemed.
Here's a new line from me that you can try rewriting. This is an open tag, so anyone can try!
They're bag-weights. They don't help us hunt. They don't help us cook. They don't help us set up for the night, pay for the inns, or even try to help the folks we've been doing little errands for along the way. And yet we feed them, we tuck them into bed, we protect them in battle. Any day now, we'll die to an ambush because we're busy babying these two.

The drama is directed by Kakimoto Kensaku and will distributed worldwide on Netflix in 2025.
Plot

Mari Okada, the acclaimed scriptwriter behind popular titles such as Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and The Anthem of the Heart, takes charge of writing the story alongside a talented team of emerging female scriptwriters.
Glass Heart sets a new benchmark in Japanese drama with its massive filming scale, including scenes featuring tens of thousands of extras for music performances. The actors also went through intensive training to master their instruments so they can play authentically. Hi Days! I just watched the Kabuki documentary with Ikuta Toma the other day and it was really interesting! I was surprised (and happy) to see Shun Oguri there too! I'm curious though if you've watched/followed other shows of any other Japanese celebrity? I also just finished watching "First Love" with Takeru Sato and Hikari Mitsushima the other day, it was a lovely series ❤️
Hello born!!! The Kabuki documentary was really, really interesting, right???? Finding out about how he was just coasting through being a trainee and realizing one day that everyone (Arashi ahhhh) was debuting except for him, it's like 💔 But he really found his own path!!! And I was also surprised to see Oguri Shun there! Just, like a surprise treat for all the fans??? I had no idea that they were such close friends.
*big sighs* I don't have the time to invest in regularly watching dramas. I do really, really want to watch First Love! Mostly because I want to support Netflix in carrying more Japanese dramas. Also who doesn't love Utada Hikaru.
I'm not sure if you're asking about current or in the past, but when I was a teenager, I watched
Hana Yori Dango starring MatsuJun, Inoue Mao, and Oguri Shun
Nobuto wo Produce starring Kamenashi Kazuya, Horikita Maki, and Yamapi
Kurosagi (2006) starring Yamapi - they've remade this recently starring Hirano Sho (King & Prince)
Gokusen 1, 2, and 3 starring Nakama Yukie
Kisarazu Cat's Eye starring Okada Junichi (ok did you watch him in The Fable on Netflix because if not, you absolutely must!!!)
Dragon Zakura starring Abe Hiroshi
Hana Kimi starring Horikita Maki, Ikuta Toma, and Oguri Shun
1 Litre no Namida starring Nishikido Ryo and Sawajiri Erika
Liar Game 1 and 2 starring Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika
Densha Otoko starring Ito Atsushi and Ito Misaki
Koizora (film) starring Miura Haruma and Aragaki Yui
Tantei Gakuen Q (film & drama) starring Kamiki Ryunosuke, Shida Mirai, and Yamada Ryosuke
Seigi no Mikata starring Shida Mirai and Yamada Yu
My Boss My Hero starring Nagase Tomoya
Ryuusei no Kizuna starring Ninomiya Kazunari, Toda Erika, and Nishikido Ryo
Chekaraccho!! (Check It Out Yo!!) (film) starring Ichihara Hayato, Inoue Mao, and Hiraoka Yuta
Hero SP starring Kimura Takuya
I am certain that there's others that I don't have listed here, but basically I mostly watched dramas that starred Johnny's idols in the mid-2000s. I was a big Toda Erika, Aragaki Yui, and Shida Mirai fan. By 2008, I was moving onto Taiwanese and Korean fandoms, so like Takeru Satoh? I didn't watch anything with him in it even though he's a big name actor now, he was only just starting to get name recognition in 2008.
I have watched a few current films!! So actually I recently watched Mitsushima Hikari in Tang and Me starring Ninomiya Kazunari. She was so good. The plot of Tang was awful, but everyone's acting was SO HIGH TIER that the film was worth watching. I have high expectations for her in First Love. Also I watched The Fable film series on Netflix starring Okada Junichi, and yes. Yes. One of the best movies I've watched this year.
In terms of current dramas... I saw the first episode of Koi Nante, Honki De Yatte Dousuru No? (Who Needs True Love?) which stars Matsumura Hokuto and Hirose Alice. I really want to watch the rest of this because I think it will help me finish writing my fic "Genghis Khan." But. The Japanese is slightly too difficult for me to understand :( I heard from my friend that Hokuto's sex appeal is to-die-for in this drama. If I can't watch him in Koi Nante, I know that I'll at least get to hear him voice act in Shinkai's Suzume no Tojimari once it hits American theaters.
I also watched the first episode of Silent, which stars Meguro Ren and Kawaguchi Haruna. It comes highly recommended by my friends. It took a ton of brainpower for me to understand the first episode, though. My friends have way better Japanese comprehension than me. It really seems like Matsumura Hokuto and Meguro Ren are names to keep an eye on in Japanese entertainment these days.
My friends also really want me to watch Cherry Magic starring Akaso Eiji and Machida Keita. I feel like I've watched it already because I've seen so many clips of it here on Tumblr haha.
I'm sorry this was a huge response 😓 for a simple check-in. I guess I just summarized and relived several years of Japanese pop culture obsession in the past two hours of writing this out. Thoughts on anything I've written here? :D

after reading @ryo-maybe 's recs, compiling my own rider recommendations/breakdowns, in chronological order of release, with the general approach of 'here's what you may enjoy' and 'here's what people love/remember it for'. den-o onwards to zi-o cause I need to rewatch the older ones tbh. I've watched all of these myself once, and (barring ghost) with @stuffman-main and @icedfairy so you can poke them for opinions too probably.
>den-o the first 'comedy' rider that really leaned into its mascots, so much so that said mascots are kind of still around to this day like 15 years later. this tends to give the wrong impression though, because den-o still takes a surprisingly deep and melancholic look at its themes of existential dread and being remembered. it's a generally fun time that'll also pull at your heartstrings at surprising times, and takeru satoh (of current ruroken live action fame) really does portray the growth of the protagonist from a complete non-person into a still-nervous-but-will-throw-down hero nicely.
>kiva oh I absolutely agree with the general consensus of crazy aesthetic (fucking STAINED GLASS VAMPIRES?) but whack-ass writing, but as my first rider I have a big soft spot for it. it was also the first rider I watched together with stuffman-main and iced-fairy as an introduction to deeper weeb enjoyment. make no mistake, kiva is deep in the late 2000s sauce of plot via lack of communication, but at the same time it's still kind of charming how earnest it is about it? it's just 100% vampire melodrama inside a kamen rider. and also the time period gimmick is, in retrospect, one of the weirdest and most ambitious plot threads toei's ever tried. I can't even straight say I recommend kiva, but if you can stick around after they only really get better. (fun fact with kiva: the default suit was so fucking heavy BECAUSE IT HAD ACTUAL METAL CAUSE THEY WANTED NATURAL CHAIN JINGLING that they had to introduce the super mode like a dozen episodes early or else the suit actor was literally going to be crushed)
>decade anniversary series. meme origin point.
>w I think if any series really leans into its subgenre the most, it's a toss-up between W and Exaid, but W is way more universally loved. it's a tight noir experience, the duos done so well that it'd fuck with rider writing for multiple series to come (for better or worse). the way it plays with its supporting cast really makes the city feel alive in a way that makes it as easy to love Fuuto as much as shotaro does. the rider tropes themselves are also handled very well, with little arbitrary power ups or alt forms, and an absolutely unheard of total of two riders, period, until you go into side materials. and the writing very much benefits from its ability to focus on them to the exclusion of anyone else. extremely easy recommendation, and its 2 episode format also makes it very easy to watch in short sessions.
>ooo where W lives and dies by its two-episoders, OOOs uses it to support the developing relationship between protag and 'mascot' while also pursuing a much more ambitious overarching metaplot. the nonlinear nature of the belt/suit 'upgrades' leads to an pretty exciting shuffle of transformation trinkets between the protagonist and villains; you never quite know who has what, and in that sense it's almost closer to a rider royale with how the characters jockey for the macguffins. eiji's also a generally very refreshing protagonist who will still do Dumb things, but not Stupid things, and that's a fine line to walk/write I appreciate a lot.
>fourze anything I could say ryo(?)'s already said. it's just fun. it's very different from a lot of other riders though in that you won't see the same emotional ups and downs in the plot you would elsewhere. gentaro's just immune to that shit.
>wizard oof. I'm going to be bold here and say I find haruto, the protag, fine. lots of people say he's boring and one note, which I disagree with; he shows a fair amount of subtle growth as a person over the course of the series. nito, the side rider, is also great. aesthetics are also great fun. but wizard is absolutely STRANGLED by its one note supporting cast, a peanut gallery full of drag-you-to-the-lake-bed cement that's just impossible to care about. if you can deal with the generic kid's show level of eyeroll carry-on cast, you'll probably have an okay time here.
>gaim gaim gaim gaim. oh gaim. I love you so much. and this is contingent on spoilers, but, I think urobuchi plots honestly fine if there's a happy ending. and there is, because SPOILERS that facilitate post-series xovers. like of all the ways we've seen urobuchi wank about the cruelty of the system, the futility of struggling against it, and the tragedy of life, gaim's protagonists arguably end up doing a lot more to win despite it. and also I find the thought of urobuchi simmering in his dark little corner because toei forced him to write a happy ending really, REALLY funny. can't recommend unless you're in the mood for urobuchi though.
>drive honestly? drive is one of the most inoffensive riders. nothing really wrong about it. it leans into its subgenre a lot in the vein of W, so if you're in the mood for a cop show with androids and robots it'll do you good. the protag is also a tall drink of water. definitely a fine starting point.
>ghost oh god. no. by this point in the time line, the 'cool rider=sucky show' meme is really in full force. there's really not a lot I can write on ghost that hasn't been said by other people, but in short it's just very one note with very shallow characters, and a lot of shoehorned merchandising that messes with what little coherence there is (the super form is a seperate belt all on its own, never used by anything else. why???).
>exaid again, ryo(?) has me covered here. worth pointing out though, ex-aid is a perfect otome game cast: clumsy good boy with some spice to him, tragic serious elite genius, jokey lovable trickster, abrasive jerk with heart of gold. so that's fun.
>build build's AMBITIOUS. the conspiracy/amnesia plot goes deep, and it almost forsakes a monster of the week and all the tropes attached to that entirely. whether it lands the plot is up to debate but at the very least the characters are all very well realized and live. they all struggle with 'who am I' in their personal ways, and the way they clash up against each other (ESPECIALLY the villains) is exciting.
>zi-o another anniversary series.

~ reveal your watch & rewatch drama list ~
tagged by @lelephantsnail!! thanks so much!!
Watching, in alphabetical because of MDL:
35 Sai no Koukousei: it's heavy. like really heavy. the theme song is so good though and i'm liking it, watching it an episode at a time when i have time/feel like it. Watching it for Suda Masaki (being a lil shit) and Aiba Hiroki (being a much more fun lil shit of a teacher).
Ano Toki Kiss Shite Okeba: it's kinda weird ngl. but i wanna see how the main character is gonna deal with his crush being in a guy's body with all the other stuff going on. and it is. so wild. seeing Matsuzaka Tori being so awkward. i've only seen him in stoic or mysterious roles.
Kinnporsche: at this point because of vegaspete.
Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu: i'm only two episodes in and forgot i was watching it because i was really busy the last few days. Fukushi Sota is so cute tho so i'll probably keep watching it. very everything i expect in a virgin office older woman/younger man drama lmao.
Old Fashion Cupcake: HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS. WHY IS IT ALMOST OVER. THE THOUGHTS FOR MORE FICS ARE DEMANDING TO BE WRITTEN BUT I'M TRYING TO RESIST UNTIL IT'S OVER.
Senpai, Danjite Koidewa!: i dunno if imma stick with this one honestly. it's just really not doing anything for me. saber guy is cute and i know ex-aid guy but like.......meh. and i dunno if Watanabe Shu will save it for me. sorry bros.
Shinigami-kun: okay i thought this would be a little more like Omukae Desu and it is not. but damn is Suda Masaki hot as a devil and i really like the main guy. and fuck yeah the girl. currently paused on ep 6 to write this post lmao
Rewatching:
Mei's Butler: i liked this one, it's cute and has many many toku guys. but my second lead syndrome. oh my god. ma'am. i know Mizushima Hiro is hot. but Satoh Takeru is right there for best friends to lovers. and he's your height! giant sucker for same height couples. anyways rewatching because i watched Kamen Rider Kabuto.
Plan to Watch:
Minato Shouji Coin Laundry: actually this is a maybe. i dunno if i can deal with an age gap like this. irl it's fine (thankfully!!!!!) but yeah. this might squick me out too much tbh. i know my friends are excited but like. i dunno. but we'll see. i do like the leads, that's the thing.
Alice In Borderland S2: because yeah!! season 2!! gimme those face cards
Shin Shinchou Kouki: Classmate wa Sengoku Busho: looks fuckin insane and has people i know. my kind of crazy, i think.

How did the partnership between ONE OK ROCK and Rurouni Kenshin: The Final first form? Thinking back on it now, it was actually really amazing how everything came together, and we ended up doing the songs for all the Kenshin movies. We used to be under a management company called Amuse, and there was an actor there who was the same age as me named Takeru Satoh. He was actually a fan of our music before we even met, and he ended up being the only person the same age as me who I could really relate to. We ended up becoming really close friends. The Kenshin series ended up being a really, if not the most, important movie for Takeru’s career as an actor. After he got cast and Takeru had a say in the theme song for the movie, his only choice was ONE OK ROCK. He’s a great friend and someone who I have countless conversations with and ask his advice about a lot of things. I am glad to call him my friend and also glad to have the chance to write the music for all five of the movies in this series.
Note: i just posted the answer where he mentioned Takeru. you can read the full translation of the interview here
i will also join an excerpt of a Takeru interview from around the same time (2021/04/23)
──By the way, Mr. Sato, what kind of music do you usually listen to?
Sato: I met ONE OK ROCK when I was a teenager, and I've decided to leave the Japanese music scene to them. After all, I think this is a band that is unlike any other. I don't think I particularly like the "rock" genre. Anyway, it's like, ``I like ONE OK ROCK's music.''
──I would say it includes not only music, but also the way of life.
Sato: That's exactly right.

Week 12
Poster Layout
Tumblr media
Choosen Collage Layout
I chose this layout because it is the most balanced. I decided not to go minimal with the collage because it made it too difficult to fit all the elements in. I will have the other side of the A2 poster minimalistic to allow some space to breathe (hodo hodo Taku Satoh.)
Tumblr media
There is only 19 elements within the collage because the final element is the frame that this collage is going into.
Tumblr media
The frame is a family heirloom passed down to me when I was born. Putting the collage within the four walls of the frame is a way of showing the strength of my connection with my family, and I remember that nothing within the frame would have any relevance if it was not for them as they are the people who brought me into this world.
Visually I also love how the tough, sharp and heavy metal frame contrasts with the softens and flexibility of a paper collage. I have talked previously about how I love to contrast two things because they bring out a different kind of beauty in each other when paired together.
I did not want the frame to sit flat so I added a drop shadow to continue the depth and concept of working analogue. I actually wanted to frame the printed A2 poster, but the brief did not allow this so this was the next best option.
Editing in Photoshop:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brought down exposure slightly to bring the element off the page a bit more and stop it from being lost in the background.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brought down exposure slightly to bring the element off the page a bit more and stop it from being lost in the background.
Tumblr media
I tested using digital type to explain each element. But it just does not work with the nature of the poster. Everything is 3 dimensional and the flat digital text just looks wrong.
Tumblr media
I also tried handwriting but my writing is just too messy to read. So to keep on theme but still be functional I found the typeface most like my handwriting and used that.

Highlights
It was really neat to see how real designers are always using what they know and what they are good at to influence their design process, no matter if it is a commercial or personal project. It was comforting to me to see that there doesn't always have to be this immense pressure to try something that you don't know anything about, or that you aren't good at, just for the sake of going out of your comfort zone. Although this is useful and can really expand a designer's horizons, it is not always necessary to be uncomfortable at all stages of a design process. Drawing on your interests and strengths is also a good way to create a successful outcome.
The calibre of presentations were top tier - they were engaging and 'guided your eye', and embodied all the tips we go over in class, such as limiting the number of words on a slide.
I was pleased at how this international conference still allowed for freedom of the hosting country to incorporate any necessary traditions or honours that are encouraged in that country. The conference opened with a Mihi and Waiata, which communicated to me that it was important for Alt Group and AGI to create a safe Māori space.
Kris Sowersby's talk was a huge highlight of mine. He broke down a new typeface that his is collaborating on with Johnson Witehira, called Matarongo. It was fascinating to see their process (iteration on iteration on iteration), right from the deep, rich research they did through to the varied typefaces that were created. So many things were considered - lower/upper case, sans/serif, extra glyphs, etc. I found that I gained a whole new appreciation for typography through watching his talk.

A Nobleman's Quest to Settle Down
Summary: Lars doesn't fit in with Clearwater. What does a rich and smart guy like him do? Make his own town. AO3 Link
A/N: Separate post so I don't hijack @herecomesremi's gorgeous Larshen art. This is decidedly aligned with canon, because I'd never let ADF Lars act this high and mighty at the end of the quest.
(line break)
When a certain nobleman from the Eastern Empire moved in, Clearwater turned upside-down.
Lars Tenobor doubted if this was a good idea. Living among the commoners brought discomfort for everyone involved, after all. But, by some miracle, his mother agreed that he take his share of the fortune and allowed him to build his life wherever he wanted to. Of course, the sensible thing was to spend that money to build a nice house, buy some land, and hire workers to take care of the said land.
Unheard of, Clearwater said. For generations, the lands had always been shared among the community. Working for a businessman - especially a foreigner - was humiliating and more harmful in the long run.
However, between coming here and making Rhen stay in Ghalarah, this was undoubtedly still the better option.
Weekly incidents involved escalations with the village elders - over, again, the land ownership thing - arguments with passing salesmen - because a lot of people would rather let themselves be scammed by these crooks than listen to him - and, admittedly, from time to time, experiments.
It wasn't really Lars' fault, no. People heard running water on that side, so Rhen asked Lars to help her look into it. He didn't even want to do it in the first place and somehow she got mad. See, he even used dynamites instead of his own magic --
And so a portion of the cave blew up.
Everyone blamed Lars, since it's now, magically, his fault that they had to build a road along the cliffs instead of going through the caves. (They're wrong. The cliffside road, even if it would make him dizzy, was much preferable than the dark cave where he could not breathe and risk having his companions go the wrong way, ambushed by the resident monsters, and get blamed for bringing them to trouble when they ran into the trouble while he was warning them not to get themselves in trouble!)
Anyway, the mayor tried to banish Lars to live on the other side of that newly-opened cave. Before he could defend himself, Rhen opposed for him. Proud of her, of course he treated her to a new pet: a nightingale even more exquisite than that of the Veldtian Queen's.
But, in the end, love did not shield him from the consequences of his actions, and Lars had to cave in. He made sure to tear down his beautiful house and revel in the silence of horrified naysayers who, undoubtedly, was planning to seize it from him in the first place. He wanted to sell the land back to the greedy mayor who took his money when he first bought it. As expected, the terrible old man opposed, so Lars gave portions of the land - including their titles and legal rights - to Old Dyonna and the people Rhen truly cared about.
(The mayor couldn't oppose the former Chosen and ex-princess of Thais who brought salvation to the world, and he finally let them be.)
Lars then moved to the other side of the cave, found a lush forest with a running river, and built his new house there. He hired househelp to keep the manor tidy and the animals well-cared for, then he hired guards to make sure that those annoying Clearwater mugs would never touch his property. He struggled with business for a while (those Sedonian crooks), but soon enough, he had people working on his own orchards.
At this point, he no longer knew if he was still considered a resident of Clearwater or not, but he could, of course, be the better person and simply name this land, have it marked on the map, and start a new town altogether.
As smart as he was, the brilliant new name of this mystical new place for himself never came to his genius. Rhen suggested they go on a walk around 'Tenobor Town' - no, that name was too simple!
Not-Tenobor Town was not exactly a town yet, but in the future, it would grow into one. Right now, all it had was a gorgeous waterfall next to his luxurious mansion, rows of orchards and plains for growing food on the other side. His employees already resided next to the lands they cared for, cozy in their little huts and with their own families. They could still clear more trees on the other side to make way for new members of their ever-growing community.
(And what, have everyone call him their mayor? No, no, he was their Lord. Lord Tenobor. Rhen refused to be called the lady of the land. One day, she'd come to her senses and find that this was a privilege and not a power trip.)
A yet-untouched portion of its former large forest stood across the river. Now, Lars didn't allow anyone to venture beyond the river just yet. He simply had a feeling that he had to leave it be.
Rhen, ever so inquisitive, pulled him towards the forest. Even when not in gear, they should be strong enough to face whatever danger there would be. What would be the danger? They'd gone against beehives, poisonous snakes, and multiple-headed wolves before, and they'd triumphed over each foe as rookies fresh from Shadwood. As adults who'd done in Ahriman, they presented more danger to the local fauna!
But Rhen's little risk proved to be a fruitful effort. The birds and the deer cleared out of their way, and after skipping over a few fallen logs and thick briars, the forest stopped. Lars' jaw dropped when the bright light beyond the woods shone over a meadow. Flowers of all colors grew everywhere, and butterflies hovered all over. Beyond the horizon, a rainbow formed above the mountains.
He definitely should restrict this area for just himself and Rhen's use.
Rhen, ever the childish one, immediately pulled him down to the grass and told him to pick flowers. She wanted to make flower crowns for both of them. Though he was too old for this game, Lars rolled his eyes and humored her request. Of course he picked out only purple and white flowers, assuming he'd make it for himself.
When she saw her choice of flowers, Rhen flushed, but didn't make a comment. Instead, she went on to teach him how to delicately weave the stems and leaves together. Don't pull too hard; get the base going first; add in the smaller ones after.
Luckily for his teacher, he was a fast learner. Once finished, Lars held out his crown proudly. Rhen cut his celebration short by grabbing his crown and wearing it for herself.
"I think this fits me more than you," she declared, before promptly adding her crown over his head.
From the craftsmanship and the form of this crown - which made it seem like there was nothing holding it around his head - she'd gone with something that seemed more difficult to form. Not that it looked like he was wearing something, when his flower crown was almost bare of flowers and full of leaves. (Rhen one-upped him again. Again. Again! He loved, loved, loved her too much to be mad at her.)
Now flushed himself, Lars crossed his arms and huffed.
"I'll make the better one next time. You'll see."
"Oh, you! Come here!"
Rhen laughed and jumped into his arms, and he welcomed her as they rolled onto the grass that she so fondly compared his hair to. Her purple hair fell perfectly over her face, even when this messy. He brushed the strands away from her blue eyes that mirrored the sky above them, and captured her lips in a lasting kiss.
"So, what are we naming this place? Larshen Town?"
"Oh, Rhen, please don't ruin the moment."
His wide smile betrayed his amusement, so she snuggled against his chest and dared him to think of a better name than that.
Moving to Clearwater (and to Maybe-Larshen Town after) wasn't too bad of an idea, after all!

I should start sharing this song every Christmas Eve or Christmas, directing towards the people I have fallen in love with. This song has played subconsciously in my mind many times, yet it was stronger during two particular scenarios: one during a love scene I watched as a kid and the other when I thought about Christmas back while I was living in Country Club Hills, a suburban area outside of Chicago, Illinois, as a kid. I never understood why I kept thinking about those times.
And now I'm sharing I'd Die Without You by P.M. Dawn on Christmas Eve after writing a short story for a serial I plan to work on soon, either before or after New Years.
I dedicate this song to many people I fell in love with, including Lee Joon Gi, Miyavi, Hyde, Yoshiki, Gackt, Takeru Satoh, Lee Soo Hyuk, the entire BTS gang, the entire Blackpink gang, Masahiro Inoue and more.
