I have many soft head canons about Mihli & Sasavi. One which lives rent free in my mind is a game they often play where Mihli scoops Sasavi up into a little ball and tosses her way up in the air. Its one of Sasavi's favorite games. Absolutely loves it. It was very enjoyable to finally pose it.

1 - FOSTER

She remembered the day she received her first assignment as First Medicus well. She was nervous - while she was experienced in the field as a fighter and a medic, she was not yet certain she was qualified as a leader as well. She paced along the dark room. The lalafell woman’s pale blue-green eyes shone excitedly, while she held her expression stern and aloof.

Her father always said that the secret to a successful team was respect, trust, and no small amount of confidence. She had always held these words close to her heart as she joined the Garlean ranks, finally becoming the leader of her very own squadron. She was anxious to receive her first assignment, as well as the crew of medici and fighters who would serve under her. With her.

The first of her crewmen arrived. He was a Garlean man, with short, brown hair, and small hazel eyes. He held his conjurer’s staff close to his chest, but instead of the nervousness she had expected she only saw contempt - he appeared to be looking down at her.

The second was a young Hyur woman, short of stature but with a determined expression. She appeared to be a scholar of profession, the book on her hip. The third was an Elezen man, carrying a conjurer’s staff as well. Likewise, he carried himself with determination, and gave a respectful nod to Sasavi.

The fourth and fifth crewmen were miqo’te twins, carrying an axe and a bow. The two women would be their guard as they would heal their fellow squadrons.

They each gave their names and saluted as they walked in.

“Otho jen Avitus.” Curt, his eyes cast aside.

“Emilia aan Susini.” Her light voice wavered slightly, but she didn’t lose her determined expression. Otho gave her the side-eye.

“Corentin jen Gaetan.” Haughty, but still respectful.

“Tove oen Ranti.”

“Tana oen Ranti.”

The sister’s voices were warm and jovial.

Sasavi saluted each of them back. She remembered her father’s words; now more than ever, it would be important to foster good relations between her and her crew. This would prove a challenge, she was sure, but she was determined to succeed.

Sometimes I catch myself reflecting on my homeland...

Then I find myself wondering why I would ever want to go back.

When I'm already home...

Man, green might seem like such an odd choice for Mihli's chocobo color... but let me tell you it comes laced with a little bit of history.

You see, the first chocobo I ever raised in FFXI just happened to be blessed by color. While green wouldn't have been my first choice... he very quickly grew on me. And as I thought it was extremely lucky to get a colored 'Bo on the first try, of course I wound up naming him Lucky. He's like my lucky clover.

It didn't feel right not to have him by my side in Eorzea too. And while I'm not 100% sure how he fits into Mihli's story-- I'm sure we'll weasel him in there some how.

Need some Mihli and snowflakes

"♪ Come ye children mild and merry," the contrast of hymn against the snowy silence falling upon the courtyard would lift any wandering eyes left lingering in wake of the setting sun. "♪ Starlight is arrived." A crimson dragonet sat perched, balanced neatly upon the Mithran's arm. The twinkle of warm Starlight lights caught dancing in her widening dark eyes as they peeked up to the tenderly singing cat in awe. Sasavi, unlike other dragons, had never learned to communicate properly. Yet, in her few years of wisdom she had learned to make her points with Mihli Mihgo through a series of odd chirps, churrs, and her own body language. "♪ Lo! Our spirits starward carried, joyous and bright!" Gently Mihli bumped her nose affectionately against Sasavi's tiny beak, a warm smile playing across her full lips as she knew how much the young Dragonet loved caroling from Starlight Celebrations past. The Mithran was met with an affectionate coo before suddenly Savi excitedly spread her wings to keep her balance as her features stretched upwards to the snow heavy skies. The noise which left the small creature caught Mihli completely by surprise, a delighted gasp leaving her gaping maw as the little Dragon began to coo the rest of the verse perfectly in key with her own. A smile as warm as Mihli's would no doubt melt any snowflake which fell upon the pair tonight. Beaming with pride, love, and warmth she too would sing along with her small crimson dragon Daughter. "♪ Ah ah! Heavenly laughter! Ah ah! Happiness everlasting! ♪ Hark! O ye tender hearts and smile, smile smile!" Together, singing in unison, the two would certainly smile smile smile as they caroled away the rest of the evening.

Just some Sasavi tidbits...

Because I have absolute dragon brain rot right now.

First and foremost, since Mihli's story originates in FFXI loreverse, I'll be delving into a little bit of that game's lore and history. I love that in both XI and XIV's universe there exists within each dragon the capacity for good and evil or light and darkness.

San d'Oria (one of XI's three starter city states) and Ishgard share a lot of similarities. San d'Oria has had a long and often violent history with dragons, a conflict between the Elvaan (Elezen) and the wyrms much the same as Ishgard's Dragonsong War. However, being a deeply religious nation at heart (again, much like Ishgard) a group of brave knights took the words of their goddess, Altana, to heart and sought to find the light in Dragons.

These knights did not seek to indiscriminately slay dragons like so many others before them but instead opted to forge spiritual pacts with the younger dragons so that they may both better develop along side each other. These knights became Vana'diel's first Dragoons.

Its important to note that these dragons would only typically form a connection with the righteous and not with those who merely sought power for their own sake. Even despite this bond being made pure in the start, they are capable just like any other of being corrupted by evil or darkness. While Mihli was never typically a member of San d'Orian society, nor a proper dragoon in her own right... she and Sasavi still share a very interesting history and further more, the spirit pact. Mihli found Sasavi moments after she'd been orphaned. It was the cat's unprejudiced care, concern, and love shown for the small dragon which forged the pact between them. And from that day forward Mihli has cared for her like she would her own child. From day day forward, Sasavi became Mihli's daughter.

The trauma of what occurred before Mihli arrived to swoop in and care for Sasavi has left the small dragon mostly non-verbal. Savi is a mute. Though she has her own ways of communicating, mostly through clicks, chirps, and churrs (like Miqo'te are capable of), or through her own body language. She is also capable of some doodles when supplied with the right mediums to work with.

All in all, Sasavi is definitely a good aligned and light bound dragon. A major part of their storyline for the better part of the last 20 IRL years has been geared towards educating other player characters about both the light and darkness dragons are capable of. That not all dragons are bad and that many are capable of a great deal of good and wonderful things, just like any Hyur, Miqo'te, Elezen... ect.

Since this is starting to get a little long... ask me about how the two pair in battle sometime if you're interested. I have some really interesting head canons about a dragon pact boosted dancer class. Think of it as a neat combination between dragoon and dancer. 's essentially Mihli's job/class. It's also why Mihli's dancer aesthetics are all dragon themed, such as her chakrams and other items being shaped to look like dragons.

Bonus Head Canon:

Since learning the origin of Dragons while adventuring with the WoL, Mihli quickly adopted 'my little star' into her booklet of endearment terms for Sasavi.

You asked for it, so it begins.

First Question! Lets start with the obvious. Mihli Mihgo. What was it like stepping from one world to the next? Was she lost? Was it horror? Was there wonder in seeing a new world? I can only imagine there were a lot of feelings. Does she ever want to go back, or has she found home here?

It was in short, very traumatic. Where she comes from she was a hero, much like a Warrior of Light. But right now she's not even sure if she managed to save her people, or if they were simply left defenseless without her.

When Mihli arrived in Eorzea, she washed up on the shores of La Nocea with out any recollection of who she was, or where she came from. Luckily, she was found by Sea's character, Ashely Hawke, who brought her home to Shiro, an employed Doctor for Firelight Trading Company. As his house was already full with one stray (one of my other characters - Poki Mewri), he sent Mihli to live with a colleague in Ishgard, Lysander Ervaut under the idea that through his research, Lysander might be able to help Mihli regain her memories.

In return Mihli would live under his roof, but would provide some basic domestic chores (such as cleaning, fetching parcels and groceries, and cooking) to pay her board while he investigated her case.

As a man who fought in the Dragon Song War... he also has some hellacious trauma centered around dragons. And Mihli... just happens to have a small dragonet she's adopted as her daughter named Sasavi. While it was tricky at first, Lysander (though he'd outright deny it verbally) warmed up to Savi pretty quickly.

In hindsight, putting a feral street raised cat and a baby dragon in a Noble Dragon Traumatized Isghardian's home... It's safe to say these three had a bit of a rough start.

But it wasn't without a bit of proper etiquette training. Mihli spent her first few months with her nose stuck in many various books learning first and foremost about Isghard's History and her customs, but also about much of Eorzea so that she could better blend in with the populace. (IE: See the picture above: No, Mihli, you shouldn't go out in public with holes in your clothing...)

They were also able to acquire a small bit of fantasia, which when taking a singular sip helped her look less Mithran (left) and more Miqo'te (right). Naturally she retained the majority of her appearance, but as you can see some qualities like her ears and tail, were more altered than say her facial features.

I've been pretty loose in Mihli's history in this post and earlier posts. I had some Lore drawn up for her that I've currently put on hold due to Dawntrail bringing with it a FFXI-based Alliance Raid. I kind of want to see what they do with that lore before I concrete her backstory. Mostly whether or not Vana'diel is simply a completely different timeline of the source, or if Vana'diel is it's own shard. Or even... something else entirely.

Originally I was writing it as if it were it's own shard. But we'll see what happens and after that I'll probably be a lot more in depth about writing her character publically.

Currently, Lysander has helped Mihli regain her memories and she is currently struggling between the ideas of both worlds. I have referenced it in a few places like this, but ultimately I don't think Mihli wants to go back to Vana'diel permanently. In fact I think she may even be a smidge apprehensive about going back short term. Not because she doesn't miss Vana'diel or it's residents (lord knows she misses her adopted Mom something fierce). But because she's afraid of the unknown. What if a lot of people did die because she failed them? Would she be better off not knowing? Can she live with the idea of not knowing long term?

These are all questions I intend to play with during Dawntrail for her writing. Especially since, like I said before, the Alliance Raid will help me fill in some of the blanks of her canon. ...Since XI will be fully canon in some way at that point. Ultimately though, Mihli has come to love Eorzea. In truth she is more at home in this universe than she was in Vana'diel. There are so many friendships and bonds that I don't think she would ever be able to go back to Vana'diel long term. Given the choice, I think Mihli would pick Eorzea in every timeline.

Mihli is also extremely inquisitive, curious, and adventurous. She has a lust for adventure and a thirst for knowledge. Equal parts bookworm and adventurer, exploring Eorzea and meeting people from all walks of life and cultures has been an incredible experience for her. Also seeing where things line up with both universes has been a delight for her. After all Vana'diel and Eorzea share similar if not the same races like the Mamool Ja. There have been several instances where a friend or colleague of hers will insist something is called what Eorzean's call it and in turn Mihli will absolutely insist on the Vana'diel terminology. Its very cute.

If you're interested in more about Mihli's character or past I've touched on it lightly here when talking about Sasavi. I should really talk about her more, but until Dawntrail I kinda wanna play it cool.

I am excited to blend her story better into the canon lore!

☕️- what’s my muse’s morning ritual, if any? If they don’t have anything specific then how do they prep for the day?

I'll do this for the main three... ...Sort of.

See, the difficulty there in lies with Siyoh. She just doesn't sleep. Or rather, she does in short bursts, but never enough to develop her own personal morning routine or healthy sleep schedule. Siyoh is a terrible work-a-holic and she's someone who feels like she's wasting time if sleeping. Because of this, sleeping often occurs in short cat naps through out the day. For instance if she has to wait on something, say something is finishing cooking, or she needs someone to complete a task, waiting becomes a cat nap. It serves two purposes and she feels its efficient.

However, being the service submissive hard worker she is, I suppose its easy enough to think on what she does in the morning for others and their morning routines. A large portion of her early morning hours are often spent making a variety of bento boxes for choice Firelight Trading Company members. This is often done at Rexonus' request for people who struggle to look after themselves, Blink being a great example. A bento box lunch is packed and sent with the moody pilot every morning and sits awaiting Blink at her usual table in the cafe where she takes her morning coffee.

Speaking of Blink...

Vaniro is one of the first people to arrive in the Headquarters Cafe in the morning after a freezing cold shower. Whether or not she slept on board the Tempest (her airship) or in her quaters at FTC Headquarters is often a mystery. Though, more often she's slept over night in her ship quarters, which is also a reason why she's used to the cold shower. The Tempest doesn't have running hot water for it's shower.

(Yes, Rex and Blink have probably argued countless times over the fact that she only needs install some fire crystals- but now she keeps it cold just to be difficult. It's just the way she is. Stubborn tsundere to the last breath.)

It takes a total of three cups of the Boss' Signature Blend in pure silence to get her going in the morning. ...Do not disturb her morning ritual.

Mihli sleeps like a god damned rock, but she's always up early just before sunrise every morning like clockwork. Its her favorite time of the day. The morning chill and the speckle of rose gold sunrise always give her life. It's the perfect hour for Mihli to opt for a morning jog and hot steamy shower upon return (She lives in Ishgard after all!).

Given she's often the first awake in the Ervaut Household, it's Mihli who's also rousing the rest of the household (Lysander & Sasavi), before making breakfast, and likely packing lunches both for herself and Sasavi since they work both as couriers for FTC and Barista's for the Fireside.
