I think most stuff has already been shared but there's this one thing that has stuck with me and it's ronen talking about the soulmate scene in 4x16. When TK says "I might not even remember who you are" and his voice breaks? that was all ronen. he shared that he lost his grandmother to alzheimer and one of the things he fears most in life is exactly that, forgetting about the people he loves, so that line would hit him right in the chest and break him every. single. take. and he just couldn't keep it together.

and then he lightened the mood and said you need to be very comfortable with your scene partner to be able to smear tears and snot all over their faces like in that scene lol

Never going to get over Catherine playing badminton from both sides. She literally could not compute. My baby. She lost her mother and then her fate, her love. The only person who saw her. And Grigor. My Grigor. His love too. The fact that he died in front of the two people who lived him and who he loved most. Oh God Paul! I cannot believe he's actually dead. Grigor saying he looked bewildered like of course he did. I'm sure he never death was thing for him. I hope Catherine gives him a legacy. Also my god Elisabeth. I don't even know how she's going to react. I'm gonna break down when I see that. I'm gonna miss Nicholas Hoult as Peter so much. His charm is unparalleled. I don't think any other actor could have pulled off that arc.

I know the writing of this show is good enough that it's still gonna be amazing but i will miss that PeterCatherine chemistry

i love how they decide to portray catherine's grief this way.... that she is just in complete denial and it hurts so good. grigor too, the two people who love him the most in this world..... way to put a knife in my heart

and i completely agree that killing peter off is a great lost. nicholas hoult embodies that character in a way that no one can and he was quite literally the best part of the show. i still enjoy the show without him (at least the rest of the season) but you definitely feel his absence </3 and knowing the cast miss him as much makes me feel worse :( elle literally said in one of the interviews that she cried thinking about never getting do a scene with nick in the show anymore....... i know we have to move on but just let me wallow a bit

I accidently deleted the ask because my phones broken screen did a weird touch glitch thing so just in case: you can print out / bookbind any of my fanfictions, or have someone else do it for you if you need a permission to do so (so as long as it's not being sold. Commissioning a bookbinder to bind the fic doesn't count, that's fine)

Though I would HIGHLY recommend going through with grammerly and proof reading before making signatures because I don't use a beta reader since I write for fun and escapism, I don't focus real hard on proper of it and a lot of my stuff has hidden grammatical and spelling errors (I'll get around to editing and fixing that...eventually)

They're trying really hard to make Carlos the villain this season uh

see this is interesting cause what you see as them making carlos a villain, I see as them making him imperfect, real and relatable.

also general words of advice to live a show better:

let's not jump to conclusions before having even watched an episode

let's not put characters on pedestals and then be disappointed when they obviously don't meet up our ridiculously high expectations

remember that this all fiction

That being said I think carlos' reasoning from that 2 minutes clip is totally and absolutely valid. It felt like a not yet not a hard no and even if it was, it would still be as valid. But knowing him, it definitely feels like his reasoning goes deeper and is more rooted to how he is as a person, his insecurities, his fears of not being enough and of becoming like his father and also to the example of parenthood he had. All things that can be traced to what his first mechanism of defense is: deflecting and not communicating. Let alone the fact this man thought of himself as a project and as someone who would never find real love until like yesterday so his motivation is very understandable to me. He's just imperfect, not a villain.

oh hi! well i'm happy to share my thoughts since you asked so politely lol i just didn't share them earlier bc when there's discourse ppl act so vile sometimes

anyways. izzy hands huh. multi-faceted, complicated, very intense character. let me begin by saying the fact that david jenkins and con o'neill managed to do a total 180 on izzy in terms of how the audience reacted to him between s1 and s2 without fundamentally ruining his character is astounding!! i think the whole point of izzy has always been the fact that he's a man who tends to hold on too tight to the stuff that gives him a semblance of safety (even though that stuff is usually pretty traumatic lol) and across s2 we see him slowly loosening his grip on blackbeard. the fact that it was precisely blackbeard's brutal return that made izzy realize both him and ed were in too deep really just adds to how awesome the writing was this season.

and now, just to clarify: i didn't say i disagreed with his character arc, but with the way it was executed. as in, i think izzy's journey was perfectly well written and acted out by con (please give that man an award), and up until the finale it was actually very well executed!! it's the last plot device that i disagree with.

killing off izzy was a bold choice, and a very common way in which writers both show redemption and pull poignant reactions from the audience, which is ultimately what any show strives for!! for the audience to feel deeply about certain characters or stories. i think ppl have forgotten that and focused so much on wanting everything to be emotionally "clean" and lacking of controversy. guys!! the whole of fiction isn't supposed to cater to everyone!! that's why it's fiction!! it can be manipulated by creators and audience alike and each individual piece is supposed to be different. if you don't like emotional ups and downs in the media you consume that's understandable, but don't condemn the pieces of media that do have it. simply don't watch if you don't like it. i personally like these feelings, the ugly, and the dirty, and the unfair, and the painful, the human!!! it's part of the experience and they did it well this season.

even with that in mind though, i think death was only one of the many options through which they could've symbolized izzy finally letting go of blackbeard and the toxicity that name represented for all of them. i get how 'i wanna go' as a show of the deliberate decision izzy is making to escape from the emotional turmoil of ruthless piracy is trying to make his death seem like a way for him to rest, but. it's a pretty definitive rest and i think it wouldn't have been necessary, considering that one of the main things izzy learns this season is that you can spend years in a terrible environment but it's still never too late to pursue something softer for yourself and for the people you love. he says it, too: 'it's about belonging'.

as much as it is understandable to have wanted to take the way of the tragic and unexpected, for the sake of impact and to heighten the significance of what izzy has become this season, it would've been nice to see him stare at a long, happy future with the new family he's acquired aboard the revenge. ed let go of blackbeard without it meaning he had to renounce to the rest of his life for it, why couldn't izzy? it would've been wonderful to see all those years of life experience as a pirate reconcile with the reality that they're not dependent on isolating yourself from others. for izzy to have become captain, or even frenchie's first mate, would've been an excellent seal to his story, even leaving a future full of possibility to further explore how his character gets acquainted with his new way of looking at the world.

izzy put it that way: it is about letting go of ego for something larger. and his death can mean many things simultaneously, but it can also mean that without his ego he couldn't live. which. i do disagree with, so.

i don't know!!! i just think about it many different ways!! like in this post specifically i chose to see it under a different light than what i'm currently writing, and neither of those opinions cancel each other out; they can coexist!! that's the fun thing about fictional media interpretation!! it's also why we have devices like fanfiction and fanart and meta!! the fact that something played out in a specific way on screen doesn't mean it's set in stone as something good or bad, there are always shades of grey.

I just finished the show. This is such a good fucking show!

Even though i am HEARTBROKEN, through Elisabeth, Grigor and Catherine the show really gave the room to sort of process it and by giving that last kick, really got us out of the pain and invested in how she will keep her reign. Truly smart writing. Like with just 10 episodes, they wrote a love story, a heartbreak and a riveting political play, like only The Great can.

I am still definitely broken about Peter's death. I don't know how the show will do whole seasons without him, and very very selfishly wish they don't make another love for Catherine.

When Elisabeth said basically fuck off to Peter the Great, i was in pain, wishing Peter had also said the same. And elisabeths fate of losing two children to water, my god.

Paul will never know how much Peter loved him. Catherine always humming Their Song. Wearing his clothes. Grigor, the true himbo. So Torn by grief he thinks a box is a good place to keep a child. Immersing himself in bath fully clothed? He is i think the most affected because i don't he truly knows how to live without Peter. Also what's up with Marial? I understand but also dude!!!

Charit Wakefield is so good. Her actual pain in losing Peter, sewn with George's intrinsic manipulation, she is good. Amazing. So is Phoebe Fox as Marial and every single person in this cast because otherwise the insanity of this show could never deliver the emotional impact.

I always liked Nicholas Hoult, but after this show i am completely and Fully obsessed with him. I only hope he'll be back as a ghost next season. (But i like that they didn't bring him back this season, it would've hurt too much). Because as you said his and elles chemistry needs to shine more.

Okay as of now, this is all i have for thoughts. Might have more once I start giffing, but until then you are released from the grips of my 1k words long asks.

i agree with you wholeheartedly!! despite the great loss (lol), the show has proven its ability to still excel w/o peter. the last episode is riveting and freeing. it shows precisely why peter needs to be gone for catherine to be great (of course the show will be great focusing on catherine and peter's love story but the great is never about that) people who are mad that they get rid of peter or say that catherine x peter is the whole point of the show don't understand the show at all. i feel like all of the characters (not just catherine) have a chance to develop in a new direction due to peter's death and that gives the show a fresh air/start🫶 and please do keep sending me your thoughts haha <3
