I've seen a few "What your favourite (insert X fandom) ship says about you" videos and posts, and thought I'd make my own about some of MY favourite pairings (spoiler - they're all NHS based - big surprise to anyone who follows me >.<), all of which I have written before.

omg francesca thank u for the nice tags under the sangchengsu set, especially the garden bit had me !!!! im very interested in hearing your thoughts if you'd like to share at some point 👀📝 also im sorry to disappoint perhaps but the shot of nhs is not from that episode even so i had to look around but what else is new with this show... anyways again thank u for the support of my new agenda 🤍
oh you got me good with that nie huaisang shot! the look he gives in that gif is just so pointed and sharp, i really thought it was him at the banquet. and of course, i'm always ready to gush about your work, you know (or at least i hope you do!) that i love everything you do. you always choose such good moments and your coloring makes my eyes go all sparkly_heart_emoji
i don't really have many coherent thoughts about them but your set definitely sparked some interest in the idea of how powerful these three working together might have been. if nie huaisang had let himself trust someone then i can see him trusting these two? jiang cheng because [gestures vaguely] and then qin su because well, i think that to tell her the truth in that way he must have known her well enough to predict that she wouldn't have tried to help jin guangyao. that she would have immediately wanted nothing to do with him. and i wish she had survived. i wish she'd could have seen her son get justice/revenge (depending on how you see it lmao)
the reason why these three could work so well is because they all seem to be so ruthless. qin su's actress does so much with her expressions despite only having a handful of scenes. the looks she sends jin guangyao after she knows the truth & in the treasure room speak of that sharpness i spoke of in the tags of your post, that's just the kind of person she comes off as. kind but not a pushover. slightly like jiang yanli in that sense, where i can see her being perfectly at ease making polite conversation and even willing to bite her tongue here and there for propriety’s sake, but able and willing to speak up when needed. and i realize this is all conjecture but i still believe that the acting choices from the actress that played her have given us a lot to work with given the limited amount of time she had to show us this character.
anyway i’m rambling but uh!! i don’t know, i feel like you’re really onto something here. and it’s so funny to me that, if they had been plotting together from the start, jiang cheng might have been the one with the least amount of shit against jin guangyao (given that everything he has against him came to light after?) i think he’d obviously want justice for jin rusong and nie mingjue but these things are at least once removed from him, if that makes sense? it’s much, much more personal for nie huaisang and qin su and, again, that’s just so amusing to me to consider. he’s just along for the ride, a good way to burn off some of his anger issues or something lmao
but also jumping off of that, another thing that i find interesting is that these are also three people that never really looked down on jin guangyao?? qin su pursued him when his standing in the jin sect/the cultivation world was shaky at best; nie huaisang genuinely cared for/trusted him; and jiang cheng, while probably more neutral or indifferent about him, never really had an issue with his background? he uses it as ammo during the guanyin temple scenes but that’s only after the guy’s crimes have been exposed and he threatened jiang cheng’s family (i’m not condoning it but also, i’ll be honest, to me at that point it felt more like a ‘your mama’ joke/diss than, like, an actual insult to his mother? again, he could have said something else but jiang cheng will go for the low blow he’s not above that. we know he’s an asshole <3)
idk there’s just something to be said about how in the end those he ends up hurting the most are those who had no issues with him. just thinking about the people at the gunayin temple confrontation.... like not a single one of them had anything against jin guangyao before he made them turn against him, one way or another. and it ranges from people simply being indifferent/not giving a shit/do whatever the fuck you want jin guangyao (jiang cheng, lan wangji, wei wuxian) to people who genuinely cared for him (nie huaisang, lan xichen - and of course qin su, but unfortunately she was tied up and didn’t get to participate to the guanyin temple family reunion). and so there is this layer to his downfall as well, where you wonder if he realized that. you wonder if he had a moment looking around, beyond lan xichen, or before they even got at that point, where he thought “did i have to go this far?”
but we’re not here for that. we’re here for qin su, nie huaisang, and jiang cheng. powerful triumvirate. peak head/heart/hands dynamic.
(wait, shit!! didn’t even mention the whole garden thing in all of this but aaaaah, okay really, it was more of a comment on the general color palette of the gifset and the way the character’s own aesthetic seem to form a very beautiful and cohesive mix. the green/purple/pink/gold/grey idk it was very pleasing to look at)

There won’t be any WIP Wednesdays for a while, because I’m writing super-secret exchange fics for the MXTX rarepair exchange. I am also writing other fic in between, but not at my usual rate. Those fics are all sangcheng... and one sangchengsu, and the rarepair fics either feature JC or NHS or both. :D I know what I’m about.

Yay! For the shipping Manifesto - this was such a fun idea - let's see... These will all be for the Untamed/MDZS fandom.
1 - /The/ Ship - Okay, though I ship so many varieties, my heart will always belong to Nie Huaisang/Jiang Cheng - they are the ship of my heart and my happy place :D
2 - Honourable Mention Ship - This would have to be Nie Huaisang/Nie Zonghui - they're just so soft, with endlessly loyal NZH who adores his sect leader's little brother in ways that are far from professional and he fights himself over it, and NHS won't let him back away when he realizes his feelings are returned, so... yeah, I have feelings about them lol.
15 - Ship you wish was more popular - There are a LOT, but if I had to pick 1, it would be Nie Huaisang/Jiang Cheng/Qin Su. I fell for the SangChengSu agenda, and they have so much potential for canon era fics! I love you JGY but you will not survive when they get together to make your life hell.
16 - Ship you wish was less popular - omg I'm going to get hate for this ISTG, but... WangXian. I enjoy them, they're the core of the fandom, but they're *everywhere*, to the point that some people even get combative if you want to talk shipping one of them with someone else. I just wish there was more room for other ships, but they seem to metaphorically suck all the air out of the room till there's nothing but them.

For sangchengsu: Do A and B have a stronger bond with each other? Or do C and B or C and A have a stronger bond? Or are A, B, and C close together [equally]? Also, who proposes?
Yay! Thank you for the ask and giving me the opportunity to indulge in some SangChengSu headcanons :D Mine are all canon universe where they get together to take JGY down (I love you JGY but you killed Da-ge).
As for bonds, I don't think any one bond is stronger than the others, but they are all *different*. JC & NHS have the "we were school friends before the world went to shit and they're one of the only people left alive who remembers how I was when I didn't have the weight of the world on my shoulders" thing. JC & QS are linked by Jin Ling and their love and co-parenting of him. And QS and NHS have a bond through their love of JGY and torn feelings about someone they loved being the instrument of a loved one's demise - and even after JGY is dead, they commiserate on how they hate that they still love him after everything because the feelings don't go away, and nobody else really understands that.
As for proposing, etc, here is my post-JGY's death scenario. QS becomes regent of Lanling Jin while Jin Ling grows up, NHS remains Nie-zongzhu but begins to tire of it, and JC is where he belongs in Lotus Pier. When he comes of age and sworn in as sect leader, Jin Ling will be the one to look at his aunt and say "so when will you and Jiujiu get married?" because he knows at the very least about their affection for one another (don't know whether he'd know about the poly things with NHS). Marriage had never really been in any of their conversations before because their lives were in three separate places, but with Jin Ling now as sect leader and his position strong, QS now has the luxury to do something else with her life. It prompts her and JC to have a talk and they find they're not opposed to the idea - in fact it starts to grow on them - but they don't make a proper decision until they talk to NHS. NHS is thrilled for them, of course, and is enthusiastic every step of the way - but there are moments when JC or QS see a shadow over his expression, but when asked about it, NHS waves off their concern and kisses them to distract them.
So after QS is married to JC, and since she's not regent any longer, she has more free time, and she decides to regularly share time between Lotus Pier and the Unclean Realm. She begins to see how being sect leader wears on NHS more and more, and one night she catches him at a vulnerable moment, and he admits his heart isn't in it, but it's the only thing he has left of his brother and the only home he's ever known, so what else could he do or be? She plants the idea in his ear of at least finding an heir to take over for him one day - at the very least, someone needs to be next in line in case of an assassin or a disastrous night hunt or food poisoning. Then she returns home to JC and tells him about everything.
So JC shows up in Qinghe, follows NHS to his room, and when the door closes, NHS assumes he's there for some 'private time' and tries to kiss him. JC holds him back and then starts a long, long tirade about how he's worrying JC Qin Su by not taking care of himself, and why is he so miserable, etc etc. They get into a huge fight that an unknowing person might think would come to blows, but they've fought like this before and it never has. In the end NHS breaks down and says something about this being him paying his dues because he should have known something was up, he shouldn't have trusted JGY or allowed him to play for Da-ge without NHS knowing more about it and if only he'd known something, done something, then his brother would still be alive. JC calls him an idiot and holds him long past when he stops crying. Before he leaves from the visit, JC tells NHs he's enough, he'll always be enough, and that if he ever decides to make a change, there will always be a place for him in Lotus Pier.
So NHS thinks about it, and as the days pass he finds he looks out the window more and more with his eyes looking to the south, and then he just hits a moment where he just can't do it anymore. He quietly gets his replacement ready and talks to the elders and makes all the arrangements, and just as quietly they make the official change of leadership. NHS packs his things and takes one copy of the official announcement of the new sect leader - that will not be sent out for a week - and flies down to Lotus Pier. JC and QS are overjoyed to see him, thinking he's just there for a visit, and when the three of them are alone, he takes out the announcement and gives it to them. They look up in shock once the weight of what they've read hits them, and NHS asks if that place for him in Lotus Pier is still available, because it seems he no longer has a sect to run. And the three of them hug and cry and laugh in turn.
NHS eventually takes on the 'official' title of advisor to Jiang-zongzhu, and only those close to any of them know that the three of them share a bed and a life together(though they each have their own rooms because sometimes you just need your own space, or have a bad night and want to sleep alone). Eventually QS has a child, and then another, and none of them know who was the official 'father' but none of them care because they love them to bits. And JC's stress goes down by leaps and bounds with not one but 2 people dedicated to making sure he delegates responsibilities and relaxes from time to time - because it IS the job of two people lol.
So, um, yeah, I may have a thought or two on the subject >.<

Have seen talk of non-fatal and non-romantic hanahaki and the following beast entered my brain.
Jiang Cheng
He starts coughing up lavender-tinted petals as a child. Everyone thinks it's from an unrequited crush and thinks it's cute and will go away on its own one day. Nobody really notices the petals are the same shade as Jiang Fengmian's robes nor that they get worse after Wei Wuxian is brought to Lotus Pier.
After WWX enters the family, some of the petals start taking on an aqua/teal colouring, and they always come on strongest after a derisive scolding from Madame Yu about how he's not enough and he can't allow the son of a servant to show him up.
The day WWX leaves with the Wen remnants, scarlet-tinted petals join the mix. Eventually Jiang Yanli marries and leaves Lotus Pier and every time she sees JC, her first words are always about WWX or Jin Zixuan - petals of blended purple and gold join the mix.
And then JC is left completely alone with a tiny child in his arms.
He does his best to push through his grief and do his duties to sect and nephew, by now long used to the frequent petals brought up every day.
One day he's holding Jin Ling and the baby says his first word - Jiujiu.
Another day, the nanny brings JL to JC's office and puts him on the ground - the baby gets up onto wobbly legs and takes his first steps, hands reaching out for JC.
And one day JC realizes that the only times he coughs up petals anymore is when he prays at the ancestral shrine, thinking on the family he lost. And even those eventually peter away as time scabs over the wounds in his heart.
By this time, JC knows what the petals meant.
When WWX comes back from the dead, JC fears the petals will come back.
They almost do - for a moment he coughs and feels something in his throat when he watches WWX leave with LWJ... and then Jin Ling is before him, asking if he's all right, all love and concern under a tough/snarky veneer. Just like his uncle.
He never worries about coughing up a petal again.

Nie Sect headcanon of the day:
The Nie traditionally prefer riding horses to flying their sabers. They let the other sects think its for aesthetics or because their sabers are too heavy. In reality, it's because their saber spirits are terrible backseat drivers and never shut up the whole journey.
