Sanctuary of truth. This place is arguably the pinnacle of mesmerising wood work. No iron or steel nails are beings used to hold this ginormous structure. The fact that this entire structure is a dream child (financed and designed) of a person whose sole desire was to pass down the spiritual message (7 truths of life) to the next generation, is something overwhelming to comprehend.
I was specifically moved by the relics of Buddha at the central hall and the message was simple “death is inevitable even Buddha was touched by death”. Standing au the middle of this giant structure, looking at Buddha’s relics and realising even the greatest of the human being must turn into ashes was incredibly humbling.

GRANDE PANORAMA DE LISBOA: What fucks me up about this piece, you may ask? It is less about the painting and more about the context. In 1755, Lisbon was destroyed by an earthquake of estimated magnitude between 7.7 and 9.0. It is estimated at least 12 000 people died. This artwork is the most complete view of what Lisbon would have looked like before the earthquake. Some of the iconic buildings depicted in this piece still stand today, while some have been destroyed, their only proof of existence through pieces such as these. It's an incredible view into life in Lisbon 300 years ago. It just fucks me up to think about how everything gets destroyed in time, and at some point, only lives on through our art, or disappears altogether. (@thegirlsinthecity)

"Khajuraho Group of Monuments" (c. 885-1000) vs "ปราสาทสัจธรรม (The Sanctuary of Truth)" (1981-present)
KHAJURAHO GROUP OF MONUMENTS: alright so obviously the carvings of these temple floor me. they are absolutely stunning and intricate!!!
although khajuraho has much more to it than its erotic nature the thing i love about this picture are these particular carvings. they give a small glimpse of how sex wasnt a stigma back then.
espl because now sex is something that is considered to 'make you stray further from god', it is big deal that it was depicted on temples! (and obviously it shouldnt be)“Even the Kama (sex) scenes, when seen in combination of sculptures that precede and follow, depict the spiritual themes such as moksha (the transcendent state attained as a result of being released from the cycle of rebirth.). This state which is “like a man and woman in close embrace” is a symbol of moksa, final release or reunion of two principles, the essence (Purusha) and the nature (Prakriti). Source” (anonymous)
