the start of salt snow arc is still unbelievably funny to me because you have this setup for a story about how humanity rebuilds their own home after transcending finality for the first time in history and also about the grey serpents, what it means for them to be a collective vs an individual and what is the cost of independence. but then a wild misteln appears and the arc takes a sharp turn into a completely different direction. the grey serpent storyline is never touched on again

Very telling that those people who say “Snow was evil and *insert mental illness as an insult* right from pg.1” are the ones who think he was more sympathetic in the movie (he was not; compare Clemmie’s attack in the book vs the movie and Snow’s reaction. In one, he experiences guilt and fear and has a whole mini-storyline about, in the other he just 🧍‍♂️ when it happens and then never thinks about it again).

I’m sorry but trying to be different from the ‘I can fix him<33’ crowd by removing all his nuance and not understanding his character and then calling anyone who doesn’t end every sentence with “…he’s an irredeemable PoS since the start” a white male villain apologist, is not a sign of critical thinking or literacy and you have entirely missed the point Suzanne Collins was making

YouTube Music "Salt and Pepper Diner"ed me today while I was driving and I can confirm that it worked on me exactly like John Mulaney's bit. Because here's the thing about when Snow (Hey Oh) plays over and over and over and over and over again. The second time it played, my immediate thought was not, "Hey YTM's playing Snow (Hey Oh) again." It was, "Hey, Snow (Hey Oh) is a lot longer than I first thought, and it has like a dip in the middle." The third time it played, I was thinking maybe YTM's playing Snow (Hey Oh) again. The fourth time it played I was thinking, "Whoa. YTM just played Snow (Hey Oh) four times, or at least it played it twice and it's a really long song." I tried to skip it but it just started playing Snow (Hey Oh) again for a fifth time. I tried to skip it again but it just started playing Snow (Hey Oh) for the sixth time. Once I got to a stoplight I looked down at my phone, thinking that maybe I had accidentally hit the "repeat this song" button or something. Instead I found that YouTube Music had independently queued up Snow (Hey Oh) on repeat no less than 12 times in a row

Usually people who claim to like both Catelyn and Jon say that both are victims of their society ( which is correct: Cat is victim of patriarchy and Jon of the bastard-phobia).

However, it's not true that they are equally victims in the unpleasant situation they find themselves in: aka living under the same roof. One of them is the adult and the other a child. One is the lady of the house ( she can literally order most people living in her household) while the other is simply the bastard kid. The difference in their age and in their status creates a power unbalance between them. Furthermore, Lady Stark is the one who acts ill towards Jon, while he has never done anything to her.

So miss me with the bs that they are both equally victims of their complicated situation.

Some takes on fae folk have them repelled by salt as well as silver and iron, but iirc October Daye doesn't. Imagine if Toby had to shift her blood closer to human every time she wants to eat a properly seasoned burrito.

so, for those who might not know, the basis of plato's philosophy is that what we perceive as reality isnt whats Actually real. the real world is the world of ideas, physically unreachable from ours.

an idea is essentially a very general concept of something, and everything in our world tries to imitate ideas, which is how we get physical objects. for example, physical objects would be Specific kinds of tree, or individual ones, while the idea would just be A Tree. ideas are eternal, perfect, undefined and unchanging, which is why physical objects fail in their imitation of them- theyre too individually distinct.

and, you know how misteln is canonically described as an Idea? yeah! shes, or rather she was, the idea of a schariac.

i say she was, because [at least in my opinion] misteln's character arc is actually about ceasing to be an idea: because look. right after her "birth", she really Was the model of a schariac- selfless, kind, and always trying her best to save everyone [even if, due to unique nature of her existence, she wass unable to do so]. she didnt even have a first name; "schariac" was all there was to her.

but she met alexandra, and was given a name; she joined the world serpent, and was given another. she developed herself as a new person, and during this period she didnt actually associate herself with her last name, instead going only by "hare". and undeniably, she became. Really Weird. just a deeply bizarre person. but thats the point: shes a PERSON, even if she can never quite understand humanity. but shes still an individual, with her own history, her own personality and mannerisms and views on life. and especially after moon arc, when shes no longer bound to her duty as a part of world serpent, id say it wouldnt be accurate to call her an Idea in the truest sense of the world, not anymore.

okay okay, fem!Robb has a high appeal to me for multiple reasons in inspecting her role as eldest child of the Stark House, gender dynamics etc.

From a romantic perspective it would be so funny though. When the first discussions come up who her fiancée should be, Robb dramatically declares that she so necessarily needs to marry Theon. "For the peace between the North and Isles. My husband, the young Lord Reaper, and I would speak for the north." Measter Luwin bringing up how things are a bit weird with the Boltons at the moment, and Domeric is an accomplished nobleman, well-liked, kind, polite, clear blue eyes. "Sansa can have him them." Robb waves this idea away. "I mean, a fine gentleman would fulfill my heart. But as eldest daughter I totally can only think of the benefit for our house. What are blue eyes against diplomacy and mending old wounds? Oh father, I HAVE to marry Theon. For peace's sake, of course. u.u"

bone dry shards of hard candy are pretty much good forever! he wouldn't even think twice about it, it's still good! but if it's wet and sticky and it hits that floor, there are other lollipops in this world. he might be sad to say goodbye but i think even he would be more sad to eat it after peeling it off the dirty floor! he's gone soft I'm afraid (no it's a good thing, i like to think that being unable to trash food that you objectively shouldn't eat is something he would be able to shed as he heals!)

oh and i guess to actually... share the conclusion of my wondering: I'm pretty obviously in the "skeletal tongues don't exist" school of thought so yeah. he just picks up the shards and continues crunching. ugh it's probably stuck in his teeth. he shouldn't be allowed to do this.
