This chapter is what some people might refer to as a "filler episode". It's not a vital episode, but does tie into a few minor things down the road. In the end, I don't believe I've any "unimportant" chapters in this story.
The chapter title is a reference to chapter 6 of the original book, "Jack Pumpkinhead's Ride." You won't find Jack in this chapter, however. Not will you find Ozma. It's time for Logan and Juni Jump to have a solo adventure.
For this title page, I was going for a Sailor Moon-ish feel and the costumes are referenced from episode 14 of Sailor Stars.
You'd think Juni Jump would be wearing Usagi's outfit, but that'd mess up the "couple's theme" she has going with Logan in this illustration.
a look at palette's magic pen! it's sort of like a mix between a magic wand and a tablet pen, and the star on top is a powerful gem called the artisan's sapphire. nobody really knows where the pen came from, though
it binds itself to someone with a creative or imaginative spirit, and i imagine it kinda works like amy's hammer where it can be summoned seemingly out of thin air. it always morphs into a new design each time it binds to someone, fitting the user's personal tastes
while bound, the pen can't be taken away from the user: if someone else tries running off with it from a far enough distance, it will either fly out of their hands or the user will be dragged along to the culprit
the pen has abilities such as creating things like platforms and springs, although how long they stay up depends on how much energy the user puts into creating them. the ink/paint is always rainbow and glittery, and can be used as sort of a whip or barrier
it can also help create quick disguises for the user and others with illusions, however, it cannot change someone's appearance completely (no species changes or anything like that) and it cannot change their voice. the pen can help enhance others abilities or weapons, such as turning bean's bombs into colorful fireworks or fang's pop gun into a paint gun
using up too much of its abilities will cause the ink/paint to drain quickly, meaning that the pen has to recharge. each major use of an ability also can hit the user's energy; more use means more fatigue. it takes a lot of effort and time to be able to wield the pen effectively (think of it as getting used to a new art tool or program ghdgh)
when the pen's user has artist's block, they also can't use the pen until it's gone away, since the sapphire is directly connected to creative energy

For Sonic, I got a lot of inspiration from Sailor Moon, using,,, Sailor Moon’s sequences haha They’re both iconic characters from the 90s and also they’re both the first media I was exposed to as a child. And look how adorable he is in this style, he’s so cute
Sonic posses the Red Emerald; Power, represents love, passion and strength. Also, emits a heated energy. He’s a character to look up to, giving unfathomable positivity to everyone around him, and questionable but good morals.
Whether he’s the mute, teasing, and protective hero from Japan or the boasting, unpredictable, and quick talking hero from the States. He provides strength for everyone.
White Emerald; Wish
Tails’ sequence is inspired by Wish Upon a Plaedies, I haven’t watched it but Subaru’s(lolcar) sequence seemed really sweet and calm but still had a childish touch. Which I think suits him.
Tails posses the white emerald; Wish, represents purity, goodness, and innocence. He’s very intelligent yes which brings a unique form of menace(twitter takedown) haha but he’s still a child and still discovering himself n other people. He’s beginning to grow as a hero. “I want to be like him” Tails still depends on his older friends around him, which is okay. “I wish Sonic were here”
Cyan Emerald; Spirit
Knuckles’ sequence is inspired by Phantom Thief Jeanne, Jeanne’s sequence, there’s really not a lot of reasons why I chose hers other than that her anime is based off of an actual religion haha Knuckles is, on some technicality, religious. Also Jeanne’s sequence is a good one, great choreography, 10/10 magical
Knuckles posses the Cyan Emerald; Spirit, represents the soul of all living things, devotion, tranquility, and truth. Often associated with the moon, water, and sky.
Knuckles’ absolute devotion to being the guardian of the Master Emerald goes beyond universes. He’ll do anything to get back with the Master Emerald is they’re separated.
He cares for the Island’s plants, animals, and spiritual life. Knuckles may be gullible, but that’s because he values integrity and would assume someone is being truthful as him. He’s the embodiment of the Cyan Emerald.
Names and descriptions of the Chaos Emeralds belong to DeviantArt user MintStarMari. They gave a better explanation of them and went into more detail :> a really good job
Like a lot of the Sailor Moon characters, I used both the original and Sailor Moon Crystal designs to draw Emerald’s badge. Even though she didn’t change much, I relied on her Crystal design much more, though.
The second picture of the the back of the badge, and the third is Emerlad’s art outside the badge.
