mum's reaction to the kitchen was "wow" then "very clever" and then just a lot of nostalgia for her time spent in london

i'm still pretty much casually impressed. as a debut, i really like it. and yes, i'm a daniel kaluuya stan at my core but that's not why i liked it. i really loved the humanity of it, the characters, the visuals. i would have wanted a few things tweaked for like. maximum impact but i saw daniel talk about how sometimes you can't get the perfect shot when you're limited on time and money and like. fair. it's a debut.

i also really enjoyed the visuals of london pre- and post gentrification. it's a dystopia but the feeling is accurate right now, too. and shooting it in london was such a good choice bc it just tugs at my heartstrings immediately. like. the way those glass boxes creep closer to the communities where people live really fucks me up as a london lover (brick lane my beloved) and i loved seeing it. the coldness and drabness of the luxury flat. the wanting to leave but not actually, not really bc it's not the place that's shit. idk if that makes sense.

i wonder how people not in london feel. or people not affected by gentrification.

Today was such a good day that I keep being shocked at how good it was and I almost start crying

Apparently the cure to my anxiety and occasional melancholy is a band of old dudes playing 90s country music at the church picnic, getting to hold my friends' brand new baby girl for like 30 straight minutes while she slept, and rain. Just heavy, heavy rain and thunder

Feels like it's been ages since I've had a day as hopeful and happy as today 🥹

#I'm usually not one to get into more modern artists. BUT.#Holy shit.........his music makes me feel shit. Like FEEL it really feel it #It's genius actually. A story told on 4 parts. Connected through other songs. The stages of falling in and out of love #It's heartbreaking. It's fucking heartbreaking actually #The fact that this is what heartbreak feels like comes RIGHT after golden hour?? Shut up. Shut UP THAT HURTS ME #golden hour is deadass the most gorgeous song I've ever heard in my fucking life I can't even express the emotions I feel listening to it #It's beautiful. It's whimsical. It's magical. It captures such a specific feeling and time of day. Time of YEAR even #It's a song about love and how in awe he is of the person he loves and it's perfect and soft and. golden hour. #mhm not a fan of the interpretation that the past 5 albums are now somehow meaningless or not real or w/ever #obviously we don't know what happened and i'm not going to speculate on what went wrong if something went wrong #but even if they are no longer together now the relationship and it's importance doesn't magically go away #like the story of reputation and how that love was a lifeline to her and helped her through many tough times #it's sad for both of them if that love is no longer there #but it doesn't invalidate those 6 years and make the feelings they had suddenly not real y'know?#like i'm obviously not in taylor's head AND again we don't know what happened and why it happened #but i don't see her suddenly discarding the idea that love is golden or whatever like even if this relationship wasn't ~the one~#i think she would probably still value what she learnt about love and relationships through it #idk obviously still sad! for both of them! but i don't think we need to be spiralling on her behalf #i'm not making any sense sorry what do i know i've never even had a relationship anyway lol
