You! Who is your favorite Link and why?

TWILIGHT! WITH NO HESITATION, TWILIGHT!!

Maybe I'm a bit biased since Twilight Princess is my favorite game. I just absolutely adore the friendship Twilight and Midna foster. It starts out as two people who dislike each other but must work together for mutual benefit. Just as you think the journey is coming to an end, both partners are put into life threatening situations. They both mutually save each other and now the relationship between the two is so much more than just mutual beneficiaries. I mean, just go and peek at how they look at each other when Link pulls the Master Sword. Those are two people who support each other.

And then it ends. For the sake of both of them, Midna shatters the *only* connection between the Light World and the Twilight realm. There was no warning there was no preparing yourself for this because Midna didn't tell anyone her final plan. It's heartbreaking. Link just lost his best friend, the person who saw everything he went through, all the trials, the struggles, the effort put into his journey. They discovered new places, traveled to buildings that haven't been touched in centuries, and saved Hyrule *together.* And then she just left.

It's heartbreaking, not just to Link but to the player as well. I beat the game when I was 5 and while I didn't understand half the text I was reading, I saw the Mirror of Twilight break with it's Princess being the last passenger to use it. It's a clear cut ending, no alternative routes to get Midna back. The second half of the journey was to get to the Twilight realm, the player knows how much of a struggle that was.

There is no hope of Midna returning.

Perhaps I relate to Twilight. I don't know how, I never bothered to figure out why. All I know is his story. How, despite everything being against him, his entire world once being shrouded in Twilight, he fought against *everything* to get what was his back. He never sacrificed the children of the village, he never gave up on Illa's memories, he went out of his way to help people he hardly knew (Queen Rutella, Kakariko and the Gorons, the grand-children of the fisherman from Ocarina of Time). Link does every action that I wanted to do without question and with complete confidence.

Twilight is my hero. The Link that I hold dearest.

My second favorite is Ocarina of Time, simply because of how LU represents him.

adding onto the Zora breathing convo, I personally think they have nostrils! In some of the older renditions of Zora, like Queen Rutella, we can see they have a more human/Hylian nose structure. And when we look at the BOTW Zora, their nose has a lighter stripe of color on the bottom as though it’s a more “fleshy” piece. While not animated, it could be insinuating a nostril. And the official art books call it a nose! So perhaps they use their lungs to filter oxygen in the water and their nose to breathe normally on land?

Idk man just imagining little Zora snouts are so cute. Boop the snoot.

Ended up doing some redesign pages for some Hyrule Warriors characters for fun because what's there to do on a lazy Saturday?

The way my rewrite works is that OOT is taken from the Child Timeline, after Link has gone back in time after defeating Ganondorf, meaning that Ruto would still be a child. So I have thusly made that change.

I wanted to keep her design relatively simple because it's so iconic, but I added a few details like the pearls and earrings to give a little bit of detail. I didn't want her to stand out as too simple in a sea of redesigned, detailed characters. The Silver Scale weapon I changed up the design a bit because it looked a little awkward with Ruto's new look.

She's also the only one I did costumes for because I loved some of the ideas but thought how tragic it was that they either didn't work or were recolours. Yesterday, my sister got me the Majora's Mask Himekawa manga, so I was overjoyed to make a design based off of Lulu. I basically just made her fins very dress-like and modified the shape of her ears and eyes to an extent. I merged the Wind Waker and Great Sea costumes to create the middle costume, which is meant to look like a one-piece bathing suit. I also took a little bit of inspiration from Marin and made her pearls into tiny flowers. The last one is the Twilight Princess costume, because that pink skin looks dreadful for something that's meant to be TP. It's probably meant to look like Rutella, but Ruto just looks sunburnt. So I mixed my inspo with Rutella and a bit of the TP Zora in general tbh. My favourite part are her ears and earrings ngl.

I have a few problems with Volgas design and I tried hard to fix it, but I'm generally not good with skulls or very muscular men. I'd like to think I did okay though. I generally wanted to really get across that he's a dragon. This Volga would have to be coloured to truly see the difference because I want to take more from his Master Quest costume's colours instead.

I just changed up the small details to really hammer home that he's not human. In a way, you could compare his armour to Zelda's, which I may play around with their dynamic at some point. I even changed up his weapon took like like a couple giant, jagged teeth on a fancy stick.

I wanted his design to feel very over-the-top and like a masquerade costume like my redesign of Cia, and Wizzro's design in general.

This one needs a little bit of context to how the great fairies work in the re-write. Depending on where the scenario's location is, the fairy be different. As an example, the Twilight Princess scenes (tbh I can't remember if any of those scenarios required a great fairy) will have that games respective fairy, as does Ocarina of Time. With Skyloft, I've encorparated that game's Zelda in as a way to merge her and Fi into one fighter and for plot purposes. That Zelda (I've named Dove so far for clarity) does the whole getting the pumpkin soup to Levias, though she uses her Loftwing and a bunch of fairies for help. But that leaves Hyrule Warriors, which doesn't have their own Great Fairy and has the OOT Great Fairy instead.

So I came up with this one. I have a running theme with some character designs of ancient eras, whether it be Greece, Rome, or Japan. To fit with Link and Zelda's designs, I went for the idea of a nymph for their Great Fairy, but instead of being associated with passion and positivity, she seems more upset to fit with the slightly darker theme of the re-write. This design actually merges three types of nymph actually. She functions exactly the same as the regular Great Fairies - she still sends fairies from her temple or fountain to assist Hyrulean forces.

You may have noticed that I drew some flowers at the bottom of the page, and I erased it, but there were dragonfly wings I used as reference. I used a lot of flowers with connotations of sadness, as well as magic and power, as well as ferns which are apparently associated with the fae. So yeah, I really like flowers and I used to be obsessed with Greek Mythology. Can you tell?

Anon 1: I think you're on the money but I'd also slide in with how, in all of Zelda, the Zora are typically presented as the most romantic of Hyrule's races. OoT has Ruto and her not-at-all subtle feelings for Link, MM has that tragic Zora couple, TP's whole thing with Queen Rutella and her love for her husband and son, BotW with Mipha and her not-at-all subtle feelings for Link...

So, yeah, all of that ties into why, unlike a lot of people on Twitter who are still talking about feeling betrayed or this ruining Sidon's character, I am all for him getting married. I just wish that Yona was handled better. And looked better. Which leads us back into...

Anon 2: It's because they wanted to keep her 'cutesy'. But the thing is that a character like Mipha works because, even though she's technically 'cutesy', the individual aspects of her design compliment each other. Yona is a bunch of different design elements that are fine apart but do not look good together.

Anon 3: I think the developers felt that Urbosa and Riju fill out the 'Tetra' or 'Midna' archetypes enough so, when looking back to introducing new female characters, they fall back more on personalities like Mipha, Paya, young!Impa, etc.

Again, though, I think her personality (what little of it we get...) is fine. I just will never vibe with those design choices...

Good piscciss monarchs

Since Piscciss Volann are matriarchal in your fanlore, I would want to know if there are any examples of good monarchs, the bright counters to offset Secale's deviousness. 

Matriarchal societies get little representation in fiction unless its like "evil misandrist nightmare" like the drow, so I feel like it would suck if the one representation of a matriarchal ruler we see is evil.

Well, I would say Secale's mother, Rutella, wasn't outright evil, she was however a warlord in her own right. HOWEVER, she did step back and re-evaluate her planets relationship with Pyros and came to an agreement between themselves and Pyronites. But since Secale had been raised during war times it was a concept that she was unable to agree with and therefore viewed her mother at fault for trying to end a cycle of violence.

Secale's daughter, Coralite, who will inherent the throne I would consider to be a good person who does want to fix what her mother did not only to her own home planet, but to others as well. She helps kill her mother, and Ben believes she can do better then Secale.

Unfortunately for Coralite she is going to be refused total control over her own Planet by the Plumbers, as the Plumbers begin to fall into their own totalitarian patterns out of fear of another Secale taking control and causing more destruction on a galactic scale.

At the end of the day Secale's issue isn't that she's a violent misandirst leader, but that she was another power hungry warlord with, willing to wipe out whoever she has to to get what she wants.

Funnily I just couldn't think of a better placeholder title lol.

If you've seen my many Ambassador Twi! rambles then you know how close I think Twi and Ralis are.

This idea is that they get dropped in Zora's domain just in time for Ralis's birthday! And Ralis is ecstatic to have his Hero there.

This devolves into chain shenanigans and Ralis happily telling everyone how Twilight fought hordes of monsters to get him to a healer, how he rescued his people from certain death by freezing, how he stopped a monster from stealing their rarest fish, and how he delivered Rutella's last words!

The chain is surprised to find that Twilight is this well liked by the Zora, since the guards at the castle are distant at best.

I also want to write underwater adventure buddies! (Sky, Twilight, Time, Legend maybe)

Rutela is the one Zora that confuses me, simply because Hylians and Zoras cannot breed. i just wanna know how she's a Hylian-Zora hybrid.

but, considering that sharks have noses... i can get behind Zora's having them, especially since Zora's are amphibious humanoids.
