I am never inclined to make fun of tumblr's cheesy attempts to make money and generally support them even if you consider them cringe. Websites need money to operate and tumblr needs to find a way to make money consistently or it will cease to exist. I do not want tumblr to cease to exist, and the most common alternative method of making money is to collect and sell all of our personal data, which I do not want either. Websites that can support themselves via people willing to spend $25 bucks to commit to a bit is a sign of a brighter and more sustainable version of the internet.

Run For The Money

Netflix's Run For The Money is (I assume) an import of an already existing Japanese game show that I really enjoy despite the language barrier (though it's subtitled, which is good) that revolves around a bunch of contestants that have remain free for as long as possible from the Hunters that are constantly seeking to capture them.

It's essentially tag played over a really large area though what makes it really interesting is that there are variables that are constantly in flux, like the number of Hunters who're out to capture the Runners.

So they have to not only avoid the Hunters, but accomplish certain tasks that can increase their odds of staying in the game, but put them at greater risk.

The whole affair has a horror vibe with touches of comedy so nothing is taken too seriously, though everyone is playing for millions in Yen, so there are definitely stakes beyond just getting caught.

And the worse thing is that if they're caught, except under very specific circumstances, they get absolutely nothing.

It's fun and doesn't take itself quite as seriously as American shows of the ilk.
