ik some people dont like considering the fact that minecraft is a game into their interpretation of lore but tbh i really like lore that acknowledges that their lives adhere to video game mechanics and thats a part of why i like that tubbo doesnt shy away from including his knowledge of game mechanics in his roleplay. it adds to his character and story and tubbos knowledge of how the game works directly translates to his character being extremely intelligent and skilled

and i think a big part of why people dont like acknowledging that tubbo isnt fail rping by using the game mechanics to his advantage is because they dont like admitting that hes intelligent. they dont like him being more than just the dumb bee boy. they dont like him being able to get a one up on their faves even though their faves are using game mechanics to their advantage too, hell because their faves are doing it too.

using game mechanics to his advantage isnt fail rp. being intelligent and skilled in his own way isnt fail rp. the admins keep him in line when they need to and when they dont they let him do his thing because no matter how many people get upset about it, tubbos knowledge of how the game works is fun and its cool to see.

a good roleplayer knows how to use the medium to their advantage. tubbo isnt failing rp or breaking the no metagaming rules in any way that actually ruins anyone elses enjoyment. hes just using the medium to his advantage. minecraft is a video game and there are literally plot points that depend on acknowledging that. tubbo is intelligent and on top of that he is a good roleplayer and its fine that he roleplays in a different way than some other ccs do because that makes him interesting. if you dont like it then theres a very easy solution: dont watch him

I’ve seen a decent amount of people comparing the vibes of the qsmp to the dsmp and I thought id give my two cents because there is a huge difference between these servers that I haven’t seen mentioned. I’m gonna put it under a cut so if u don’t care for the dsmp or this comparison ignore this post XD

So, the main thing, is that the dsmp was never intended to be a roll play server while the qsmp was 100% a role play server from the start- like that is the entire point lol

Because the dsmp was never intended to be an rp server, it didn’t have the infrastructure to support the collaboration required irl. There are so many horror stories of last minute script changes and people being left out of the loop for key events and its like... the server had had so much time to implement things irl to help with that but they didn’t because only a few people were running the show.

This is the other thing, the main lore and story was mainly driven by like 3 people so all the other ccs lore and plans were left in the dust. People were constantly being rainchecked on important lore events until it was too late and the server/audience had moved on or the lore that was there was belittled and mocked by the more popular ccs. And because these ccs didn’t take it seriously, neither did their massive audience. Most people only cared about lore where they were the center so collaborating was very difficult. It was really messed up and I’m still salty about a lot of it lol

My favorite arc on the dsmp was the eggpire arc because there were no main characters. Everyone involved was on equal footing and you could tell there was a lot of communication and planning irl and that everyone involved was passionate about the story they were telling. However, any time Tommy touched the lore, I would get so pissed because he was such an ass. Like, any lore Tommy touched that did not revolve around him, he ruined and I’m glad people stopped trying to involve him in the eggpire after like 1 or 2 streams lol He is one of the main reasons many fans thought the eggpire arc was a joke. He is just one example of a cc on the dsmp that had terrible rp etiquette, there were many more.

I think the end of the eggpire arc, the red banquet, was a victim of the more influential ccs on the server not wanting it to become the server ending threat it should have been. They wanted it to remain a side story. The lead up to the red banquet was so amazing and the stream itself was also so amazing but it just felt like the beginning of the eggpire’s arc! I was so confused when that was the end of the eggpire because - without changing anything about the red banquet - it opened the door for a truly great conclusion to the dsmp storyline that could have tied of everyone’s character arcs without it dragging on for another 1, 2?, years only for a weak ass finally.

I have an entire 40 chapter fic outlined where the red banquet is the beginning of the end for the server and its a banger - if i ever actually write it T_T

I’m going to briefly explain why the red banquet planted a future arc perfectly: the egg killed a demigod (Foolish) which could have given it enough energy to hatch or at least become close to it. Purpled could have been playing Quackity and BBH to get double payment and told BBH that Quackity was going to attack, that’s why Purpled didn’t chase after the eggpire when they were escaping - then, when Quackity destroyed his UFO, Purpled joins the eggpire to get revenge on Quackity. Everyone at the red banquet who ate the soup could have been infected by the egg and slowly brainwashed over the following days/weeks. Nicki (a member of the anarchist commune) was on the inside and could have been working with Techno, leading to the anarchist commune joining the fight against the egg as a whole. The Red Banquet was a false victory that put the rest of the server at ease while the eggpire was only growing stronger.

It could have been so good!!!! Screams.

But - my theory - is that bbh and the others had to wrap it up because the bigger ccs had “more important lore” that they wanted to do. The eggpire and red banquet arc felt the most close to the qsmp out of any lore on the dsmp which makes total sense as to why Quackity invited bbh since the eggpire was mainly his creation XD

I think Quackity learned a lot from the chaos and disorder of the dsmp behind the scenes and went out his way to ensure his server would not run into the same problems. Not only is there a solid infrastructure of admins and discord channels, he chooses to bring in ccs who are respectful and have good rp etiquette and know how to tell stories. Everyone has been wondering why Jaiden was added, including Jaiden XD, but it makes sense! She is a story teller and those are the types of people Quackity needed.

At the end of the day, the dsmp was never intended to become an rp server and was doomed by that from the start, just like L’manberg. There are plenty of wonderful stories that were told but so many more that were left in the shadows and forgotten due to poor rp etiquette and that will forever be a tragedy.

catching up thru liveblogs cause i was busy and wow yk i kind of generally assumed the qsmp admins were like on top of things and we weren't seeing it viewerside for obvious reasons... but. no it is kind of just as bad as it looked huh. like. holy shit communicate with your players when youre going to make huge abrupt changes that'll affect them and the stories theyre trying to tell.. like i don't expect everyone to be compromised with but did they like literally not talk to anybody about what was going to happen?

hey COD Fandom! It’s great that y’all are enthusiastic about these boys but please remember to tag only the characters who are necessary and to use the read more function for your fics especially if its smut, im seeing a lot of spam tags and long posts!

It’s great to see everyone having fun, but, for example, if I’m looking through the COD Nikolai tag for content, or looking for Gaz or Price content in their tags, it’s a bit of a drag to scroll through six Ghost HC posts and Smutfics that have nothing to do with Nikolai, Gaz, or Price at all.

The sudden surge of COD work is absolutely amazing, but Tumblr’s tagging system exists for a reason and so does the read more function— please use it.

wtf is it with political roleplay that gets all the weirdos coming out of the woodwork and putting a damper on things. specifically on twt like can people let the cc’s play characters and have conflict and have fun like goddamn man

hoping and praying the stealing chestplate via command and robbing etoiles’ body of his shield has good lore reason, and wasn’t just bc it’s ‘op’ for him to have bc not only did he attain them via the admins in the first place but it’s not like the server has issue w players being unfair to each other or (to further individualize the situation) etoiles using those items to ruin the vibe or other people’s experiences on the server . if it is genuinely bc the items are overpowered it doesn’t make much sense story-wise or at all

I think that the potential plot beats that could’ve come from the Nichael stream in January could’ve been really something to behold. 

C!Sapnap and C!George running around like the world’s dumbest supervillains. Team Rocket but for fuckheads who don’t give a shit about anything anymore because everyone they’ve ever loved has left them except for each other? The stress C!Sapnap would feel as a result of realizing that kidnapping Michael was something that C!Dream would do. C!George unable to tell if him actually regularly getting to hang out with his friend again is a dream given to him or real life. 

Heisting Las Nevadas only to realize that there’s nothing inside but broken dreams and imported scorpions. Trying to hunt down C!Tubbo’s missing nuke to try and blackmail him only to realize that literally nobody knows where that nuke went, least of all the person that actually had it last. Throwing raves at the karaoke stage with all their friends and breaking into evil laughter as they play Wonderwall for the tenth time in a row. Covering C!Tommy’s house in bales of hay (easy to break, and they drop wheat for him when he eventually breaks them down.) 

C!Dream seeing that his friends are causing Problems and constantly trying to get involved because, hey, maybe they’re on a villain arc! But, no, C!Sapnap still fucking hates him, and C!George really doesn’t like him much, either, so every attempt at hanging out with them ends with some kind of fight that ends in a draw because C!Sapnap and C!Dream both refuse to actually kill the other despite all their words. Empty words, empty threats, but Sapnap’s sword cuts a bit too deep into Dream’s neck, and Dream’s ax breaks through Sapnap’s armor and nearly kills him, and George has an arrow trained on Dream’s weak point the entire time.

the level of vitriol im seeing today towards cranboo (and ccranboo) for stuff that can really just be chalked up to ccranboo being a newbie at rp on the "zero rp etiquette" server is so frustrating to me, as someone who's been roleplaying since i was 11. that's just the average rp newbie experience, they've almost all made a mary-sue ish op character or rapidfire posted and drowned out everyone else in the rp at some point (depending on the medium), it's just that, since this is the "zero rp etiquette" server we're talking about, there weren't any rules against that like there would be in spaces that were built specifically with the intention for roleplay (which the dsmp wasn't and nobody did anything to fix this even after the roleplaying started), and so there was nobody to call out that behavior and put a stop to it.

I always thought the fact that people tag 'asl' and the user name or just anon on asks as if anyone asked us to.
