Second Chance (Future!Leo x Kalani)
Author’s notes: These are all Consenting Adults ranging from mid 20′s to late 30′s. MINORS DO NOT INTERACT! This is a 21+ blog and I do intend to bring some NSFW content.
Future!Leo is about 38, Kalani is 26. If you don’t like the age gap... tough noogies, I’m keeping it this way bwah ha ha! Now onward!
There it was, the technodrone destroyed; the city was safe. But at what cost? The last sign of Leo, in the portal Mikey was able to create to try and save his big brother. The scream of agony, the cackle of greed, and the wails of pain. It was all too fast and sudden. His room was still the same, but lifeless. Colorless in her eyes. Every square inch was him and it wasn't. It was suffocating her and Kalani couldn’t take it. She had made a small shrine in her new home with the rest of the Hamato clan. One with a picture of Leo. Her boyfriend. Her best friend. Champion. Brother. Hero. It weighed down on her heart and soul for her, a teenager who was once an up and coming Alchemist alongside Baron Draxum and close accomplice of Big Mama at the Nexus Hotel. Now a broken girl with her heart now gone forever in the prison dimension.
Grief and mourning lasted for a long time in the family. Donnie would have night terrors of that fateful day. Mikey screamed in pain as memories flooded his mind. Raph would have nights with no sleep, afraid of becoming that krang version of himself. Casey would only comfort them all to help them. Kalani, the most quiet of them, laid in her room curled up tight under her sheets to gain some sort of semblance. But it was fruitless as her quiet sobs would fall into loud wails of pain. Many nights, everyone came together in the main room. Blankets, pillows, fairy and christmas lights, heating lamps and blankets and mattresses laid out for everyone to sleep as a whole.
It took two months for Donnie to calm himself and finally start sleeping in his room. 5 months for Raph to finally start laying in his own bed. Mikey was an extra month before he finally went to his room. This left Kalani alone once again.
Her saving grace was her hero, now an old rat, Lou Jitsu, better known as Splinter. Many nights, he would keep his door open and a simple electric tea light alit giving her signs that she was always welcomed. A mattress was laid next to his raised bed. Blankets and a pillow from Leo's room always greeted her in warmth and comfort as she quietly cried herself to sleep while Splinter would pet her head and rub a soothing hand across her small shell to lull her to sleep. It wasn't until a year and a half later that she finally chose to start sleeping in her own room. Splinter always reminding her that her candle will always stay lit for her of she needs guidance and peace.
After that, everyone took on their roles. Raph was leader once again, Donnie was back working on his tech and inventions, and Mikey was still the silly one. But Kalani was offered, by her new family, to be their fourth crucial partner. Being the Face Man. The speed and precision that was needed for this team. Although she had no ninpo, she was a skilled fighter and knew how to work with the three brother's alongside with Casey. Naturally, she accepted and agreed to take up the role as "Face Man" to make Leo proud.
But that was all going to be put to the test.
Information from Cassandra showed that a new Foot Clan, working alongside the Purple Dragons and Baxter Stockboy all working together to try and release the Kraang once again from the prison dimension. They had learned through alchemy how to gain enough power to reopen a portal to get into the prison dimension so the Kraang can once again take over the world.
Sitting around the table with a map of the city and the warehouse where they were last seen, the Mad Dogs were formulating a plan to foil the Foot and Purple Dragons plan.
"We need to try and take down their alchemist. If we take them down, then we have a chance of keeping the prision dimension closed longer." Kalani explained as she began to look through her alchemy charts for a counter circle.
"But they also have the Dragons and Stockboy. I can guarantee that they have some sort of interdimensional gate that will help amplify their chances at opening the prison dimension. We can't rely solely on mystic powers." Donnie added as he swiped through his holoscreen from his gauntlet.
With a slight scoff fron Kalani, Raph glanced down at the Kappa before looking down at the coordinates. "We can't let this get to us, a'ight? We work as a team. Cassandra, April and Casey are going to be our infiltrators and give us our opening. Mikey, you and Donnie work on finding the main computer room and to take out anything that could be repurposed. I'll come in with smashibg out the enemies. And Kalani."
He emphasized, catching her attention with an unamused quirk of her brow.
"Keep your head in the game. You take out the Alchemist that they found. And no going lethal!" Raph added.
"Can I at least go semi-lethal?" She quipped.
"WH-WHAT?! NO!" Raph bellowed, earning a few chuckles from Mikey and a groan from Donnie.
It wasn’t long until they had agreed to the plan and began to leave the lair. Walking down the stairs and passing the train cars that were everyone’s bedroom, Kalani passed Leo's old room, the door closed and curtains drawn. Her pace slowed to a stop as she stared at his room. Her chest tight and a pang of grief sweeping over her like a sheet.
A large hand gently laid on the small of her back, making her jump and turn to see Raph standing beside her. Her eyes had a glimmer of hope, something that he had seen several times before. One that made his own heart clench. But that had all but vanished as she saw who it was. That hope snuffed and her walls were back up once more.
"Listen, Kali. If yer not feelin' up for it, my brother's an' I can-"
"You can't do it without all of us, Raph. Besides, who else can be the faceman?" Kalani stated before she began to walk away and grab her blue sash.
Raph grabbed her hand, successfully ceasing her to move. His large thumb rubbing such soft circles that caused her to glance down at their hands. He lowered himself so he could look at her eyes that averted their gaze with his own. Kalani hated being seen vulnerable again, and with the anniversary of Leo's death it was her hardest time to get by or even be alone. Raph, knowing exactly what she was feeling, gently pulled her close to his plasteron and engulfed her in his strong arms. Her slender ones instinctively wrapped around his neck as he ran his hand up and down her back to comfort her.
"We care about ya, Kal. I care. Yer can't hide the pain. Raph ain't gonna let that happen again." He reassured her.
She let out a dry chuckle, allowing her fingers to gently stroke across the top of his head and rest on his shoulder. "I know. And I will never understand how you tolerate me and my tides of emotions."
It was Raph's turn to chuckle before pulling back and looking up at her. "Cause we were together for three years, Kal. Granted, it wasn't for us. But I still care for ya, as friends or as a couple. Yer part of the Hamato Clan, and that ain't changin' no time soon."
Smiling at one another, Raph stood up and kissed the crown of Kalani's head before escorting her to the Turtle Tank where Donnie and Mikey were already waiting for them. It was inevitable that Leo was gone, but Kalani knew that he would want her to continue with or without him. And now, sporting his blue bandana tied on her arm she took her seat in the tank and smirked at the brothers. It was time to kick some Foot Clan Ass.

May I request a Donnie x Reader, where the reader is a really tired summer camp counselor, and they fall asleep on Donnie (accidentally of course) and how Donnie would respond to that?

* leon & mikey were on the floor, the most excited while raph was in a red bean bag & april & mayhem sitting on the left of you while donnie was on the right

You Sure? (ROTTMNT Leonardo Hamato x Kalani Rotasu {OFC})
Warnings: Some swearing, Spoilers of the ROTTMNT Movie
Word Count: 1880
A/N: I have been buzzing with excitement for this chapter because I get to bring back an awesome character that we only got to see once and an underrated character that I wish we saw more of. Who you may ask? Ah, you have to read to find out.
Part 2. Bitter
It had been three days since he last saw Kalani. Three days of silence. Three days of internal turmoil. Three days of dreams plaguing him in his sleep. Blue had no idea how to comprehend his thoughts. He had royally zoned out during training, got caught by Hypno during last night's mission while tripping on the worm, and here he was now. Standing on the rooftops of his beloved city, staring at the Nexus Hotel. He hadn’t heard anything from Kalani, no signs of her showing up at the lair, nothing. Not even Gus or Bullhop at least trying to find the guys. Reaching into the pocket of his pants, Leo pulled out his phone and stared at the screen before him with a bittersweet smile. He had taken a selfie of them cuddled up in a beanbag chair. Kalani curled up to his side while he smiled a soft smile for the both of them. Was it cliché to hold onto these memories? Probably. Was he going to? Never.
Letting out a small sigh, he looked back up at the hotel hoping his sharp eyes would catch any sign that she was there.
"Another quiet night I see, Nardo?"
Leo almost jumped out of his shell and dropped his phone before turning around to see his twin brother. Clad with his battle shell, his goggles now a little more streamlined and not so wonky, his own clothes consisting of black long biker shorts, his purple knee pads and fingerless gloves that reached to his forearm, his gauntlet and tech-bo. Adding a few more of his purple markings due to his age. But nothing had changed. Especially with him finding his brother on the same roof and stare longingly at the building that housed his brother's ex-girlfriend.
Leo scoffed and turned his back to look back at the hotel. "Did Raph send you? He knows I'm out patrolling."
Donnie rolled his eyes at his brother before walking over to the ledge that Leo was and sitting next to him. He let his legs dangle off the edge before looking up at the hotel. His own memories coming to play before looking at his younger twin. Although he was the "emotionally detached" brother, he knew that Leo was not himself after his visit to see Kalani.
“Still holding a grudge?” Purple asked as he glanced from the corner of his eye.
He could see how rigid his brother became in an instant. No one really brought up Kalani back home, and it was fair to say that everyone missed the Kappa. Splinter especially as he knew she was his biggest fan, but also because he would get to be a grandfather. But after the breakup, they made it official to keep her out of the equation. But to hear that he went to see her and try to get help, everyone was shocked more than ever that Leo would go to his ex instead of reaching out to April, Cassandra, or Casey.
Leo let out an annoyed growl before pocketing his phone with a huff and got to his feet. "Ten year. Ten damn years and she still hates me. For what!? She has no idea what I've been through. She wasn’t there. She was safe and all I did was what I thought was right."
Donnie listened as he watched his brother pace back and forth while in his tangent. Guilt riddled him as he listened to his brother discuss his nightmares, his own pains, taking the leadership role, trying to protect those he loved.
"She'll come around, Leo. You'll see." He said, making his brother stop his pacing and look at Donnie with a quizzical look.
"And what makes you so sure?"
"Trust me, she will." He reassured his blue clad brother.
Hopefully it was all working out in the hotel.

The past three days had not been the easiest for Kalani to handle. Having a couple meetings, one of which was with three crime bosses who were negotiating about territory. One of them brought up Señor Hueso's Restaurant in the mix which she argued in her American voice and pulled out all the stops to keep the establishment out of the cross hairs in a style that would have made Leo proud. Sulking in her seat in the office, Kalani was calculating the total losses and revenue for last month when something caught her attention.
A bubble. A lone bubble floating in Kalani’s direction.
Raising a brow, the Kappa observed the little dainty sphere as it floated its way towards her. Slowly, her own reflection was seen as she watched it only to have it pop right in front of her and a fish face to suddenly appear out of nowhere.
“BOO!”
“AAHHHHH!” Kalani let out a scream and jumped out of her chair only to hear laughter fill the air.
Looking at the culprit, the Kappa glared at the goldfish mutant who was on the floor laughing her fin’s off.
“Piebald! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” Kalani placed a hand over her heart as a smile threatened to pull at the corners of her mouth.
Piebald finally sat up and wiped a tear from her eye as she placed her hook on her back. “You should have seen your face, Kal! Kodak Moment!”
Kalani rolled her eyes and stood up before walking over to the goldfish and embraced her best friend in a tight hug. As the two embraced and smiled at one another, Kalani called down to the kitchen to have some tea sent to her office and offered a chair for Piebald who gladly accepted and sat down with a relieved look on her face. As the tea arrived on record time and was distributed for the two ladies, Kalani sipped her lavender and honey with a pleased smile while Piebald was adding extra sugar to her tea.
“So, what brings you here my dear? Come to hone in on your skills a little further in the Battle Nexus? We’re always looking for a new star.” Kalani looked over her cup with a glint in her eye that Piebald knew all too well.
Shaking her head, the goldfish began sipping on her drink. “Nah, not today sweetheart. Just thought I’d drop in and say hi to my best friend.”
Raising a brow once more, Kalani brought the cup to her lips and spoke before taking another sip of her beverage. “Donnie sent you, didn’t he?”
Piebald choked and spurted out her tea before shaking her head vigorously. “What NO! Why would I even come if we all knew that you and Leo are not a thing even though you were a thing. I mean, why ask you for help when you have work here in the hotel and… I’m digging a deeper hole than what I’m in now…right?”
With a soft hum and a nod, Kalani smirked and placed her cup down on the saucer. Rising to her feet, she walked over to Piebald and placed her hand on Piebald’s cheek before flashing a warm smile. A sliver of mirth glimmered in her eyes before she leaned down to Piebald’s level, making the goldfish gulp slightly.
“You’re quite adorable when you become flustered.” The Kappa smirked only to have Piebald scoff and look away.
Kalani laughed as she straightened up and gave her best friend a big hug. That was one thing that Piebald and her brothers agreed on, both Kalani and Leo knew how to flirt. And rather well they would all add. But unable to stay mad, Piebald hugged her back and giggled a little before they pulled away from each other. As Kalani walked back to her desk Piebald stood and rubbed her arm.
“You know he talks about you. A lot. Quite frankly, it’s been driving dad up the walls.”
“I’m not going to help.” Kalani stated firmly.
Piebald scoffed and glared at her. “Can you for once lose this ten year grudge. It has blown out of proportion! Leo did what he thought-”
“Leo didn’t think! He went rogue! To what? Fix up his fuck up!? And then just go about his day as if the Krang were nothing. Meanwhile I’m stuck in The Hidden City with no word at all until months later. Some man he became. Showed his true stripes now, didn’t he?” Kalani spat as she slammed her fist on the table.
The sheer force made her tea cup clatter and spill some of its contents on her desk. Piebald made her way to Kalani and placed her hand on the Kappa’s shoulder.
“Kal, listen to me. You need to put that in the past right now. The Hamato Clan needs you. We all need you. Especially Leo.” She explained.
Kalani looked up at her and could see how sincere she was. With a heavy feeling in her chest and her mind spinning, Kalani walked to her seat and sat down and clasped her hands and leaned her elbows on the desk with her head down. Piebald knew that it was time to go; rummaging in her pocket, she pulled out what looked like a piece of old paper and laid it on the middle of her desk before taking her leave. Looking from under her pad, Kalani glanced at the piece of paper and saw that it was a picture. A family picture to be exact when they were kids and celebrating Christmas. Raph was dressed as Santa along with Splinter, Mikey was Rudolph while Donnie was the Grinch. Kalani and Leo chose to go way out on left field and pay homage to their favorite Christmas movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas and dressed as Jack and Sally with Santa hats perched on the top of their heads. April was dressed as Cindy Lou Who with Mayhem as Max the dog with his single antler.
Kalani sighed as she looked at the picture and sniffled. Her fingers tracing over Leo’s smiling face. She pulled out a drawer in her desk on the right hand side and placed the picture there gently where others she kept sat neatly before closing and locking it for safekeeping. Grabbing her phone, she scrolled through the contacts until she saw the name she was locating. Pressing the green call button, she placed the phone to her ear and listened to the dial tone.

Leo and Donnie were walking back to the lair with pizza in hand until Leo’s phone began to ring. He let out an annoyed groan and placed his stack of pizza’s on top of what Donnie was already carrying before pulling out his cellular device and quickly answering it, not even looking at the caller ID.
“No, I do not want the car warren-”
“Leo…”
Leo stopped and his jaw dropped. His eyes were as wide as saucers before he slowly pulled his phone from his ear and read the caller ID.
“Nardo? What’s going on?” Donnie grunted before placing the boxes down.
Leo shoved the phone in his twin’s face only for Donnie’s jaw to drop.
“Oh my banana pancakes…”
They both looked at one another only to see Leo’s shock grow into a smile that was filled with surprise and joy.
It was Kalani.

Shifting in her perch next to Raph and April, Kalani watched as Casey and Cassandra infiltrated the warehouse where The Foot and Purple Dragons were organized. With her hands twitching with anticipation and shoulders tight, she was ready to take down the bad guys and keep the Krang in the prison dimension for many years to come.
"A'ight, everyone in position?" Raph called through the intercom through his wrappings.
"Purple Knight in position." Donnie called back, hovering over the main hatch of the roof.
"All set, Raph." Mikey replied as he was already inside but hidden from prying eyes.
"Good, once we have the signal. We swoop in like heroes and stop them from bringing back the Krang. We don't need another attack." Raph stated before closing the comm and letting out a slow breath.
Kalani glanced over to him and noticed his right eye closed. The scar and pain that she had seen. He was partially blind in his eye. But Donnie helped with making a contact lense to correct any issues with his vision. He wasn’t wearing it. She knew it. But instead of berating, Kalani laid a hand on his knee causing him to look over to her hand and smile slightly.
"I'm a'ight, Kal. Don't you worry. Raph ain't gonna let them win." He reassured her, flashing a sharp smile.
April sniggered quietly as she watched the former couple. But before she could say anything to make it awkward, a bright flash came from inside the warehouse causing Donnie and Mikey to jump into action. Kalani and Raph looked over and their attitudes changed to a more stony expression as they leapt from the rooftop they were perched on and landed next to the entrance that Donnie went through. Grabbing his sai's Raph looked over to Kalani which she had her Tessen's in hand. With a nod from the Kappa, Raph took the lead as they both came through the door and leapt off the platform and into the thick of the fight.
Kalani looked for the Alchemist and saw that he was finishing a transmutation and working in summoning the portal. Speed stepping towards the Alchemist, she threw three kunai knives in his direction causing the porcupine yokai to yelp and jump out of the way in time.
"It's over, Dante!" Kalani hissed as she ran her foot over the chalk lines, successfully destroying the circles.
But the alchemist merely smirked and chuckled darkly. "You think so?"
Before she could question his own words, the feeling of sharp prongs pierced her skin and electrocuted her causing her to scream in agony. The water in her cap sloshing and spreading across her body only caused her more pain. The prongs, biting into her skin, pulled and twisted her into knots.
"KALANI!" Raph roared as he punched two Foot Clansmen and charged to save her.
But was thwarted by a large brute and fought back and captured by the brute. Raph soon realized that it was a cyborg Foot Clan. Holding him and the others in binds. The sound of laughter echoed into the air as the Purple Dragons and Baxter revealed themselves from their own perch.
"Well, well, well. Looks like Dante was right. The entire family comes to save the day. And we got the perfect specimen to help unlock the Prison Dimension. Thanks to Miss Kalani." Baxter smiled wickedly.
"Kono baka! Anata wa futatabi watashitachi no sekai ni shi o motarasu dakedesu!" Kalani barked in Japanese only to have Kendra snark.
"Not without the right tools, freak."
As Dante walked over, he kneeled down and caressed her cheek only to have Kalani spit in his eye.
"No wonder you were banished from the Hidden City! Betray your own kind and destroy all of humanity and the yokai kind."
Grabbing a fistful of her hair, Dante glared at her. "At least you'll be with your dead lover sooner than later." He chuckled darkly and cut into her art with one sharp cut of his quill.
Pressing his thumb into her open wound Kalani screamed in agony. Using her blood to redraw the circle and lend a sample to Baxter who took the vual and placed it into a large computer. As the vial slid into the machine, a large gate emerged from the floor below to reveal a gateway. Every one of the Hamato clan gawked in shock. Memories of what had happened before, flashed before their eyes. Dante, along with the help from the technology began the ritual and the gate began to come alive. Kalani's own blood, which held her mystic abilities of alchemy, was being used to open the gate. She was the sacrifice.
"NO!" Raph roared.
But the pur like chirping caught his attention as something fluffy landed on his head. Looking up and seeing the cyborg look with great confusion, Mayhem had arrived! Teleporting Raph away and next to someone else he wasn't expecting either.
"You should have listened to me about this plan, Red One." Baron Draxum exclaimed as he watched in rage.
"When the hell did ya get here?!" Raph exclaimed but was taken back to the present moment from Kalani's screams rang through the air once more.
The others had somehow found a way to escape their binds as well and began to fight back to rescue their sister and close the gate once again.
"Now is not the time! We must shut the gate and save Kalani before she is gone." Draxum explained before he and Raph charged into the fight.
Punching his way through with no care on how severe he was injuring the Foot, Raph made it to Kalani while Draxum fought Dante away from the circle. Tearing the prongs and cords that held her in place were torn to shreds, causing more harm than good on her skin. But he wanted her safe and being chaotic and destructive was the fastest right now. He knew he was going to apologize profusely later. It was a given. Cradelling Kalani to his plasteron, Raph got her away from the heat of it and laid her on the ground where she was in pain, but still alert with her surroundings.
"Easy, girl." He reassured her as she began to sit up.
Donnie flew over to them both and began to assess her injuries with his goggles that scanned her over. "We need to stop the portal. Their tech is using Kalani's blood sample and mystic abilities to help power the alchemy and open the portal."
"We know that, Don. But how!?" Raph growled as he saw Draxum, Casey, Mikey and April fight the foot.
Kalani sat up finally and looked over to Dante who was struggling to get to the circle with Draxum fighting him back. Then it dawned on her.
"Donnie, you think you can take down Kendra?" She asked.
"Are you doubting my abilities? Scoff!" The soft-shelled brother rolled his eyes.
"Fine, if you can take her down Raph and I will take care of the circle and the gate." Kalani added as she slowly got to her feet.
Raph helped her and wrapped an arm around her waist. "Ya sure it'll work?"
Kalani didn't answer, but grabbed the katanas that she had strapped across her back and gripped them tight. "Stay close. We only have one shot, Red."
With a firm nod, Raph kept his hand on her back as Kalani summoned the sword's teleporting ability to life. With expert precision, she threw the other katana right on top of the alchemy circle where she and Raph ran into and landed back into the action. Donnie had rocketed himself to Kendra who was at the main control pad along with Baxter. Landing in the middle of the circle the gate came to life.
"Raph, take out the gate! I'll create a counter for this!" Kalani ordered as she swept her foot in one large circle, cutting off the power from the alchemy.
Dante saw what was going on and screamed in rage. "You Bitch!"
With the blade of the katana, Kalani cut into the earth a new pattern to shut the gate. But it wasn’t fast enough as a powerful blast pushed everyone onto their backsides. Kalani quickly scrambled to her feet and pressed her palms onto the alchemy circle.
"DO IT NOW!!!!" Kalani roared.
Raph activated his Power Smash Jutsu and expanded in size. But another, more powerful wave came through the gate once again sending everyone up and away from it all. Kalani flew backwards and hit a nearby panel that broke the gate's main power system. With a bright flash and loud explosion, the gate was destroyed but someone came through.
As the dust began to settle, Kalani slowly got to her feet and grabbed her katanas and was ready to fight. But her eyes landed on someone she was not expecting to see ever again. The blue carapace. A single large katana. Scars and damage on his skin. And one large mechanical arm on his right arm.
"It can't be…"

You Sure? (ROTTMNT Leonardo Hamato x Kalani Rotasu {OFC})
Word Count: 1517
Warnings: A dash of light swearing, Fluff, slight Angst
A/N: Finally, I’m getting somewhere with this series. Thank you all for those who have chosen to follow this series. I really do appreciate it and thank you for the support. And a seriously big thank you to @mysticboombox for being my beta reader with the snippets I send her.
Part 4. Reunion
"I still say that she left him at the entrance."
"No way! That is something that is so out of the question, Dee! What do you think, Raph?"
Raph was sitting in the living room with his phone in hand as he heard his two younger brothers come in. Glancing from the device, he saw Donnie, Mikey and his girlfriend, Mara Harrison all conversing amongst each other about Leo. It was a 50/50 chance and who knows what was going to happen to Leo and Kalani.
“Why do you two care so much? Like Leo said, if she’s in, she’s in. If not, then we go on our own.” Raph explained.
“Coming from the one who will smash first then think later.” Donnie quipped while crossing his arms with an unamused brow raised.
“Always with the snark towards your eldest brother, I see?”
With a unanimous gasp, the three brothers turned to see the one person they actually doubted would have listened and agreed to help.
“KALANI!?!?”
Still in her dress and heels, she smirked her iconic wicked smirk and gave them a two finger salute. But before she could say anything or even open her mouth, she was crushed under three plasterons and six pairs of arms around her and plenty of happy churrs and laughter.
“Welcome home!” Raph chuckled.
“I’m so happy to see you, Kal!!!” Mikey squealed and nuzzled his cheek against her own.
“I know I am not one for togetherness, but this is the best exception to embrace someone that is not my brother’s.” Donnie smiles some as he gave her a little squeeze before pulling away to let Kalani free from the group hug.
As the others finally released her, Donnie was the first to notice Leo watching from a distance. Leaning against the threshold of the brick wall, his arms crossed and his blazer tucked over his arm, the red-eared slider had a content but an uneasy look that created a crease between his brows. Or as he called it affectionately "Raph Chasm." Walking over to his brother, Leo flashed a broader smile and puffed out his chest, earning a scoff from Donatello.
"I told you my plan would work." His brother in blue proclaimed in a boastful tone.
But his brother in purple could tell that there was something more behind his words. For now, he was going to let it be and try to help Kalani acclimate back into the family. But with the sound of laughter and exciting chatter filling their ears, it was silenced once again by the sound of their father.
"Kalani?" Splinter called out, just as surprised as his sons to see the Kappa in the lair once again.
With a broader and warmer smile Kalani made her way to the elder rat and kneeled down to his height. The boys watched as Kalalni embraced Splinter which made him return the embrace with a pleased smile. The sight of them hugging one another was something that made Leo swallow the hard lump in his throat and blink away tears.
“Welcome home, lily pad.” Splinter hummed, a nickname he gave her when she was younger.
Kalani’s embrace tightened slightly as she let out a quiet little trill in his ear. “Thank you, pop-pop.”
As they pulled away and smiled at one another, like a father to his daughter, Kalani cleared her throat and straightened up some. She rose to her feet and straightened out her dress before turning to face the boys. What she wasn’t expecting was all four of them smiling and looking at her as though she was a puppy. To them, it was an amazing moment to watch and see their dad be so happy to see her back and pull out her true feelings. But they knew it was short lived because in a fell swoop Kalani placed a hand on her hip and rolled her eyes.
“Alright, fun time is over. And stop looking at me like that, I’m only here as a temp.” She explained before walking past Mikey, Donnie and Raph and then stood next to Leo. “Care to show me where I’ll be staying, Leonardo?”
Leo was shaken back to the present moment as he cleared his throat and nodded before gesturing to her to follow him. The rest of the Hamato clan watched as the two left to head to the train cars that were their respected rooms. It wasn’t long until Mikey let out a small whoop and fist pumped the air, earning a groan from Donnie.
"Pay up, D! I won this bet!!" Mikey held his hand out as Donatello handed him $40 which Mikey marched away proudly.
"To Miss Porky Coin Jr. For my little Papillon's ring~"
The box turtle sang triumphantly.
As Kalani had walked in silence just behind Leo, she could see that it had grown in size compared to when she was there years before. Many of the same items and furniture still resided, but also an accumulation of new items, games, and furniture that still made it homey. As they neared the subway cars, she was taken back at how similar Leo's room stayed. Albeit a larger bed, a few more comics, a sword rack that had a nice collection and what looked like a couple Yokai pin-ups which made the Kappa roll her eyes.
"You haven't changed a bit, Nardo." She scoffed as she began to venture deeper into his train car bedroom.
Rolling his own eyes, Leo loosened his tie and undid the first two buttons of his shirt before kicking off his shoes. "Yeah well, you're still a stiff and prude like Big Mama so."
"At least I have class and style."
Leo spurted and glared at Kalani who was facing him with her arms crossed and eyes narrowed. It wasn’t uncommon for the two to bicker. In fact, Leo was secretly welcoming the old feeling. But not wanting to cause an actual fight, he went through his dresser and pulled out a shirt and tossed it in Kalani's direction. Catching it with ease, she raised a brow and held up the shirt only to blush behind the fabric. It was a faded pink shirt that just read in bold letters "BRAND." It was a shirt she would wear and steal not only because it was pink, but it had Leo written all over it.
"I know you'll be staying overnight. And sure as hell I'm not letting you sleep in your dress." Leo explained while rubbing the back of his neck.
He gestured to the following car door that had a curtain to almost separate it. As he switched on the lights and slid the door open, Kalani followed him in and felt her jaw drop. A serious trip down memory lane. It was her room once she agreed to live with the boys. It hadn't changed much except for a couple little dust bunnies. But it was relatively clean and tidy. Her bed tucked into the far right hand corner and her room having some minimalist drawing and decorations. Her old hat hung on the wall on the hat hook and was much smaller than what she wore now. Her mind wandered into fond memories of cuddling in bed reading Jupiter Jim Comics and Leo listening to her read her own classical novels that she had collected. Snogging and small whispers of admiration and love. Leo could see she was remembering, this was his meditation room. Yes, he started to meditate.
Cool guys can meditate okay? Okay.
And her room was almost his safe haven that he had now only remembered by glancing at the curtain. As he watched her look around her room and graze her fingers across the spines of her books, Kalani caught sight of a strand of pictures that she and Leo took in a photobooth on one of their dates. It was pinned on her corkboard as she examined it closer and smiled softly at each other. With broad smiles and silly faces, the last photo was of Kalani being the first to kiss his cheek and make the boy blush as pretty as his stripes. But the feeling in her heart as it fluttered at the memory made her clear her throat and straighten her back as she stood up.
"Thank you, Leonardo. I think I'll be retiring for the evening." Kalani spoke, her back still facing him as she spoke.
Leo bit his lower lip slightly and nodded. Slowly turning to leave, he let out a quiet sigh and walked out but not before saying.
"I'm here if you ever need me, Kal."
Kalani's breath hitched slightly at his words. Her vision slowly blurred as she felt the tears roll down her cheek. How she thanked her lucky stars that Leo couldn’t see them. The bittersweetness in her mouth and heart was more than she expected. But here she was, in a reunion of her past. With a family who loves her, and her ex who needed her help.
How is she going to make it?

You Sure? (ROTTMNT Leonardo Hamato x Kalani Rotasu {OFC})
Warnings: Some swearing, Spoilers for ROTTMTN Movie, Angst... some at least.
Word Count: 1666
A/N: I swear I thought I posted this chapter a long time ago... apparently my dum-dum self didn’t like the dummy-sum I am.... Well here we go! and I know @mysticboombox has seriously been waiting since she is partially my beta reader with the snippets I give her lol.
And I know I gotta work on making lnks to the chapters and masterlist. I promise I’m gonna do that.
Part 3. Not A Date!
Standing in front of the mirror and adjusting his lapels for the 86th time, Leo was debating whether to keep a tie on or go without one and open the top button. His mind was full of possible “what if” scenarios in his mind.
What if she stands heim up?
What if she asks to stay down in the lair tonight?
What if she asks him to stay for the night?
What if she tries to kill him?!
“Getting cold feet, Leon?”
Blue let out a scream and spun around with his toothbrush in hand only to see Mikey and Raph with smug looking grins. Leo groaned and placed his toothbrush back in its place before looking back at his own reflection, with the company of Mikey and Raph.
“I’m not scared, just anxious okay.” Leo retorted before looking down in the sink.
The two brothers chuckled at their new leader as he shot them a glare through the mirror. Mikey came up to him and threw his arm across his brother’s shoulders.
“Don’t worry, it’s like riding a skateboard. Once you’ve done it once, it’s stuck with you for life.”
“It’s not that simple, Mikey. This is my ex-girlfriend we’re talking about. The owner of The Nexus Hotel and the Battle Nexus. She’s not all smiles and quick comebacks to my one liners.” Leo replied.
Raph chuckled slightly before looking back at his brother. “Look, we understand how nervous ya are. And we got your back. No matter what, we’ll figure this out together. Even if it means we go to the Hidden City to find the answer.”
“Besides, it’s not like she can fight you. You are on your A-Game, bro!” Mikey reassured him.
Leo chuckled at his little brother before realizing something. “Aren’t you supposed to be on a date with your girlfriend, Angelo?”
“Yes, but Mara is coming here to get me so we can take the turtle tank. Have a romantic picnic made by yours truly, and then lo and behold! Buh-BAM!” Mikey pulled out a small velvet box, making both of his older brothers gasp.
“No Way! Wait, where did you get the money?!” Leo asked, earning a serious nod from Raph.
Mikey rubbed the back of his neck and let out a nervous chuckle. “I got an etsy page and have been making requests of my sick spray paint art. And with that, Mr. Harrison and April helped pick out the ring.”
Raph and Leo hugged their baby brother and congratulated him. Mikey soon slipped out as he heard his girlfriend calling for him in the lair. As Raph and Leo watched their little brother leave, Leo let out a sigh before running a hand across his face and looking back at his reflection. Raph glanced back at his brother and placed a hand on his shoulder as a sign of reassurance. Blue had let out a small chuckle before smiling and looking back at his brother. After one last glance, Leo removed his blue tie and undid the top button before nodding to himself. If anything, he was gonna go out in style even if his ex refused his offer.
Waving and calling out that he was leaving to the rest of his family, Leo made his way to the surface and took to the rooftops to head to his destination and meet up with his ex-girlfriend at the Run of Mill Pizzeria. As he made his way to the alleyway to the secret entrance, Leo was taken back at the sight before him. A dark skinned woman with her dark violet hair in soft waves. Her black backless dress revealed the dip of her back as her dress draped down her legs to about mid calf. The slit on the back of her dress didn’t help with the thoughts that began to plague his mind.
‘C’mon Leo! This is not a date! Just a meet up to talk like civilized adults.’ He scolded himself as he cleared his throat to try and calm his nerves.
But it didn’t help after the woman turned to face him. Kalani, with her cloaking brooch perched over her right breast, looking over Leo and flashing a soft smirk and walking over to him. His Adam's apple bobbed in his throat as he watched her draw closer to him until they were both at arm’s reach.
“My, you sure clean up rather well. For a sewer dweller.” She stated, walking around him and her arms crossed.
Leo scoffed and placed his own hands on his hips. “At least I don’t have to wear a disguise.”
Kalani stopped in front of him with an unexpressive look, but a small smirk pulled at the corner of her lip before she touched her brooch and shifted back to her yokai self. Her teal skin still complimented her dress, if not better than in her human form. He thanked the higher power in the sky that she couldn’t hear his palpitating heart. Shifting slightly, he cleared his throat and offered his arm to her which surprised her greatly. Kalani glanced between himself and his offering before carefully looping her arm with his own. It felt a little awkward, but it was a welcoming feeling that spread across her body like a warm blanket. Entering the restaurant was like walking down memory lane; Yokai were enjoying their meals, talking and laughing. The smell of great Italian and unique cuisines filled their nostrils which both were on the verge of drooling.
“Señorita Rōtasu! It is an honor to see you again, my dear!” Señor Hueso, the owner of the establishment, beamed with glee as he welcomed her with open arms.
Kalani smiled and hugged the skeleton and only to find her place back next to Leo who smiled broadly at him, something that Hueso actually returned and nodded.
“Two, private booth please.” Kalani requested which Hueso accommodated with no questions asked.
Once he seated the two and left to get their drinks, Kalani rested her elbows and propped her chin in her hand. Her eyes scanned over Leo which, oddly enough, made the slider squirm slightly in his seat. It was as though they were back on their very first date, only for her to know exactly what was going to happen. But as he watched her, Leo couldn’t help but notice how calm she was. And a hint in her eyes that showed she was remembering something. Possibly their first official date here? And how much of a dork he was trying to impress her that night. He could see her shoulders relax, her whole body deflating into a comfortable posture and her own eyes softening. Relaxing himself, Leo leaned on his forearms that rested on the table and just… enjoyed her presence. He was feeling young again. Remembering how they were together, the smiles and bantering. But they were happy in the long run. Or so he believed.
“So, let’s get down to business shall we?” Kalani started as she sipped her water. “You said to me a few days ago that you-”
“What happened?” Leo interrupted, catching Kalani off guard.
But she wasn’t surprised. Her walls building up, Kalani sat back in her seat and swirled her water in its glass and looked at him with a bored look.
“I did not come here to walk down memory lane, Nardo. I came here to offer my services and make a proposition.”
Leo bit the inside of his cheek before making a mental note and putting a pin on the topic. She was right, for now at least. They had to stay focused. Taking a sip of his soda, Leo leaned on his arms and leaned closer to her causing her to lean a little as well. As he gestured for her to lean closer, which she obliged, the turtle smirked and flashed his dazzling pearly whites and winked at her. Letting out an annoyed scoff, Kalani began to slide out of the booth and stand as she straightened out her dress.
“If you’re not going to take this seriously, then this was a waste of my time. Good evening.” She said in a cold tone.
But a hand grabbed her forearm. Not tight, but not weak either. Looking back at the three digit hand that had her arm, she looked over to Leo who was sweating bullets. He was desperate, something that she had not seen from this turtle. Leo on the other hand had no clue what she was thinking, she put up her walls thickly to hide what she was thinking real well. But he needed her help and he knew that he could only trust her with this mission. With a soft sight, Kalani sat down but this time by his side. Leo scooted further to give her space and to keep his distance. As she removed her kappa kap and laid it on the table, she turned to him and rested her cheek in her hand.
Leo shifted slightly before rubbing the back of his neck as if he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
“Look, I’m sorry. It’s just…”
‘You’re still just as beautiful as the day we first met.’
“It’s just what, Nardo?” Kalani repeated, making Leo snap out of his daze.
Feeling caught, he thanked the Pizza Supreme in the Sky that the lights were low to hide his burning blush before clearing his throat.
“Look, you’re family. At least, still part of the family. And you know the Hidden City far better than me or my brothers do.” Leo explained. “Please, Kali. We need you. I need you.”
Kalani’s eyes widen slightly, her jaw slack. He wasn’t one to ask her, especially like this. It was throwing her off to see him be vulnerable. Biting the inside of her cheek to try and not sigh she nodded only to see her ex relax in his seat and soon explain everything that had been happening.

Kalani and her dog gone sass is going to be the Bain of Leo’s existence.
Now add that she does have a Edinburgh Accent. Poor boy don't know what to do with himself.

It's been a while but, I was able to at least have the flat colored version of Kalani and Leonardo together. Lots of layers (excluding the watermarks) just to get them where they are. But, I'm really proud where it's going and plan on adding better details later on.
Hardest part. Leo. No doubt! Especially his hands. And Kalani's feet.

Okay, so here is her colored along with her shell. So, while working on her and looking at Kappa designs. I'm no where close hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
So, I plan on keeping her as just a Mutant turtle oc. This won't be Kalani.... I'm redesigning her. Again 🤦♀️
But thank you for all the support for her. Dunno who she will be just yet. Just like how I'm working on Kalani's actual relationships with those from the Battle Nexus, the hotel and the Hidden City.

Disclaimer: This is the official start of the series for those who have been trying to follow me and this series that has yet to really gain momentum. This is a little different than what I originally intended. But, there are still plot twists that I want to get in, the angst that I have been dying to write, and this complicated relationship that these two have. This is set in a not so distant future, everyone is over the age of 21, so they are responsible adults... Give the Mad Dog’s credit okay, they’re our lovable knuckleheads!

Part 1. Shove Off!!
This was not supposed to happen. But there was no other choice and he needed to get help from one person that he knew he could trust. Even if they weren’t on the best of terms. Adjusting his pants and rolling his shoulders to try and relax his own nerves, the red-eared slider mutant turtle waltzed right into the Nexus Hotel and walked to the main elevator. Yokai both in and out of disguise mingled in the vast and extravagant lobby of this prestigious hotel in New York City and in The Hidden City. How memories filled his mind of being a champion with his father. The home of the Battle Nexus: New York. Where Shredder came to life and so much more. As he made his way to the elevators, the same Fox yokai, a little gray fur sprinkled across his muzzle, stood guard at the main elevator with the same scowl that the turtle remembered oh so many years ago.
Time to schmooze and be the Face-Man.
“Hi, yes is the owner available? I’m here and I have an appointment with her. Still working on that fancy whisker mustache. Fancy if you’re still aiming to look younger or older. Entirely up to you, bud.” Leo smirked as he crossed his arms across his plasteron.
The yokai made a disgruntled sound before pulling up his walkie talkie to his snout. “Milady, there’s a pesky turtle here wanting to see you.”
As soon as he released the button, the speaker came to life with the start of a scoff.
“Tch, tell ‘em to shove off, I have more important matters.”
If he hadn’t perfected his poker face, he would have swooned a little hearing her voice again. He could feel his hands growing a little clammy at the thought of seeing her once more, but he needed to. She was his best hope.
The yokai nodded and shot a venomous glare at Leonardo. “Milady said to shove off and that she has more important matters.”
Leo groaned and rolled his eyes. “Do you know who you’re talking to?”
But before the argument could commence, the elevator chimed, signaling that someone had arrived at the main floor. As the doors opened, Leo couldn’t believe his eyes at who he was seeing. His old man was right, women do age like sweet saki. Her dark violet hair once long now in an asymmetrical bob haircut with her Kappa lilypad hat and lotus flower. A long silk kimono furisode that was a dark navy blue, complimenting her teal skin and making her yellow sclera eyes pop. Her gold yellow obi accentuated her waist. And of course, how it was off the shoulders and just peeking her bust just slightly and revealing her small shell on her back that held an emblem that he was for sure she would try and hide.
The Hamato Crest.
Leo’s heart clenched slightly and his stomach flipped a little as he saw his ex stand there with a cold stare that suddenly broke when she saw him. Mentally slapping himself, he let his colors shine as he walked up to her with his broad and brilliant smile.
“Surprise! I’m here to see Miss Kalani Rōtasu?” He looked her over and smirked at her.
But his smirk was wiped off quicker than a freak snow storm hitting the big apple as she slapped him across the head with an unamused and rather infuriated glare. If looks could only kill, he wouldn’t be there.
“Why are you here, Hamato?” Kalani hissed, her voice dripping with venom as she did her best to keep herself composed. "You know what, no. I don't want to even hear you utter a single letter out of you."
"Kal, come on. You don't even know what I'm here for. For all you know, I might be here just to visit." Leo reasoned and hoped that she would take it.
But she was much smarter, he knew that. Although she did love to play along. She was a brilliant girl. One that he couldn't stop thinking about. Kalani on the other hand was torn and conflicted but she was not wanting to cause more of a spectacle of herself. Taking a slow breath in, she looked up at Leo and pinched the bridge on her beak and waved her bellhop away.
"My office. Now, Leonardo." She said, turning on her heel and walking back into the elevator.
With a small triumphant smile, he followed her behind and helped gather the train of her kimono so it wouldn't be caught in the door. As she silently shooed the staff member out of the elevator Leo pressed the button that went straight to the penthouse and her main office. As they ascended to her residence, a thick layer of silence filled their time. Leo couldn’t help but fidget slightly while Kalani looked straight ahead. Her posture, how she held herself, her figure, her eyes. Her lips. And her accent. God did he miss hearing her voice.
"-nardo. LEO!" Her voice cut through him like his katanas bringing him back to the present.
The elevator doors were wide open, Kalani holding the button to keep the door open with a raised brow but a glint of mirth in her eyes. Staring at that moment, he was enamored with old feelings. But swallowing them down was easier right now; he smirked and walked inside the main office that was once Big Mama's. Still with many of the old furniture such as the high wing chair and large desk and safe. But lighter, and more Kalani's style. There were lighter colors, some framed pictures and her mystic weapon, her large tessen hung proudly on the wall and on full display with the Hamato crest. A sense of pride and joy filled him as he saw the crest and open on display in Kalani's office. As Kalani took a seat behind her desk, she gestured to the chair across from her to Leo who sat down with a small grunt and leaned back as casual as ever with that same smirk.
‘Why does he have to be here? And why must he be such a… Argh! This is not what I need right now. But that smile…’ Kalani shook her head to try and focus on the blue clad slider who had an all knowing smirk that grew into a broad smile.
She still had feelings for him as he did for her. So he hoped. But her eyes narrowed which made him gulp and cleared his throat to try and calm his nerves.
“So, how’s work?”
Queue facepalm.
Kalani gritted her teeth before taking a deep breath and pinching the bridge of her nose out of frustration. This was not the time to catch up.
“I have no time for this, Leon. I have important business to attend to." She explained before standing and pointing at the elevator that they had just left out of a few minutes ago.
'Whoa whoa whoa, I didn't come here to just get booted. You told your fox man to tell me to shove off. Then you come and bring me up here just to tell me to leave again?! The hell is wrong with you!?" Leo exclaimed, rising from his seat and placing his hands on the desk as his own temper was slowly bubbling up.
"Being an absolute fool, but that's something you do on a daily basis, oh 'greatest ninja master of all time.' Casey's words, not your own." She shot back with her sharp tongue.
Letting out a disgruntled groan, Leo straightened his posture to make himself look larger and try to keep his hands to himself. "Will you drop that shit!? That was over ten years ago and you still hate me for it!"
Kalani let out a bitter laugh as her eyes grew with fire behind them. "Of course. You almost got the entire world destroyed because of your ego and stupidity only to be thrown into a prison dimension and not even care to think ho-...' She gulped and took a sharp breath in. 'To think…"
Leo stood there, frozen in place, his nails digging into his palms and biting the inside of his cheek hard to suppress his tears. A hard lump lodged itself in his throat as he saw Kalani tremble where she stood. Her face hidden under the lily pad. His trained eye watched the glimmer of a couple tears fall from under her hat and land on the desk. His browline furrowed deeply as he did his best to stay composed and not crumble. As he uncrossed his arms, Leo pivoted on his heels and headed for the elevator only to stop a couple feet and speak over his shoulder.
"Phone number hasn't changed."
Her breath hitched and got stuck in her throat. As she lifted her head, Kalani watched his retreating figure only to vanish behind the elevator doors. Slowly like a leaf in autumn, she fell into her chair and covered her face with her hands as she finally let out a hard and choking sob out of her chest. The water that was in the lotus flower spilled down the back of the chair, soaking her clothes and chilling her skin to the point it made her body shudder with a hard shiver. As she dropped her hands down her face and onto her lap, her yellow scalesed eyes darted to her only framed photo that resided on her desk. A well ornate silver frame with her and Leo. A bright and dazzling smile while Leo looked at the camera with a kiss pressed to her cheek and that signature smirk he was still able to pull off. How she could go back to those simpler times. Be happy and not fear of possibly never seeing him again. To be with him. To rekindle the undying love for the mutant turtle she fell in love with all those years ago. Leaning over, she laid the picture face down and let out a depressed sigh.
"Those days are long gone…"
