I just finished watching Ron鈥檚 Gone Wrong if you can鈥檛 tell by my most recent reblogs and My God! How did I not watch this movie before! I absolutely loved it and I had very low expectations and god just like the Rottmnt Movie, they are both truly unique and special to me! I plan to make a full review one of these days!

Ron鈥檚 Gone Wrong (2021)
I loved the first 30 minutes of the movie. I wish we turned it off once the rebellion scene began.
Don't believe Google or Rotten Tomatoes. People think it's a great movie because it lazily critiques the dangers of social media, but it could have done so with a more sensical plot with respect to the technology behind it. The plot subverts all logic and treats technology like magic. I should have known from the trailer, in which a few b-bots combine to make a giant mecha robot capable of throwing a large metal sign.
Oblivious characters, incompetent authorities, abounding happenstance, and an ending that leaves them largely where they began but touts it as a huge win; no. I'm actually upset with how much I was enjoying it until the story lost all sense of logic, coherence, and technological gravitas.
That said, my 11-year-old didn't laugh or even seem to be enjoying it, so when the movie ended we had a talk about social media usage. He seemed to have a lot of empathy for the girl whose reputation was trashed, and I explained to him that the kids who don't like him at school are very unlikely to post something publicly that reaches even outside of their school, let alone their friend circle. We talked about cyberbullying protocols they have at school and what kind of content he'd post if he had a phone. He said at least half the kids on the bus are on TikTok if they have no one to talk to. It was a useful conversation spawned from an otherwise crap (if not visually impressive) movie.
