I love all of this, being a long time mothra fan this is beautiful, I love all of the little background details! AHH! And yes I’m the person that owned an entire blue ray copy of rebirth of mothra lol.
Still can’t get over @quazies new Godzilla animation so beautiful, the little details are everything, also this Rodan being the offspring of the old 1956 Rodans.

Is really clever and tragic.

Also…by any chance dose this little bundle of squeaky joy end up becoming…..
Tumblr media
I’m probably getting a little far fetched lol.
Anyway enough from me, go watch Rodans egg it’s great.

RaeKaijuverse Rodans and False Rodans
False Rodans are around 10 to 15 meters tall and covered in thick plumage, more pronounced and flashy in male individuals. True Rodans, occasionally called Fire Rodans, are essentially modern pterosaurs ranging from 40 to 50 meters tall. No sexual dimorphism and younglings are covered in proto feathers, which caused the mix up between the two species. It was once believed False Rodans were just the growing offspring of the True Rodans, but this was debunked in the 80’s. They both roam South America alongside the Giant Condor.

I liked the part with the coal.
Rodan struck a nice mix of fun, silly action, and serious drama. So much was fit into its short 72 minute runtime, and aside from a brief amnesia sub-plot providing a bit of pointless filler, my interest was firmly held.
A few of the miniatures were unconvincing, in a charming sort of way, but for the most part they actually looked amazing. All the buildings being demolished, and one shot of a jeep being crushed against a cliff face, looked particularly great. There was also a miniature effect for lava flows running down the side of a volcano, and that was surprisingly impressive looking too.
My only real complaint is that the final action sequence felt a little too repetitive, as an endless barrage of tanks and MLRS's took turns firing, highly reminiscent of the conclusion to Godzilla Raids Again (1955).
I also thought that the ending was just too sad for my liking. I felt so bad for those poor Rodans :(
Lots of fun action, and some compelling dramatic moments. A great movie all-round.
