hey here's a reminder that ALL DISABLED PEOPLE deserve to exist in public spaces
this includes:
people who have issues with incontinence
people who drool
people who are "disruptive"
addicts who are not and don't want to be clean
people with tics
people who have visible deformities
people who can't have good hygiene/people who smell
people who can't control their movements
all disabled people .
you deserve to take up space in the world. even if your condition or symptoms are "gross" you are able to be happy and live in public spaces.

every time I talk about my disabilities in "safe spaces" I am usually given a good amount of support and acceptance, UNTIL I mention that alot of my nerve damage is drug related and having diminished blood flow because I nodded off in a way that cut off my circulation. it is always "you deserve accommodations, aids, support, etc" until I cross the line of deserving it. at what point do I start to lose support and the right to live my life in the best way I can? what is the thing that makes my disability "my fault" ?

you are allowed to do and enjoy things that make your disability worse.

stop assigning morality to health!!! stop! disability and illness have no moral compass. health is morally neutral !

why do people treat hallucinations and psychosis like they shouldn't scare people? I have seen so many people say "oh but it isn't real so why would you be scared" and I just?? this is a false equivalent but have people never seen a horror movie? like when a fake monster or whatever jumpscares people in horror movies you don't see (many) people saying "it's not real why did you jump?? our bodies are terrible at disgusting what is real.

I hate that so many spaces made for addicts focus ONLY on getting 100% clean. yes, drugs can be horrible and be a terrible decision, I could even say that they are most of the time, but it is someone's choice. harm reduction saved my life. if I quit when I was first entering spaces made for addicts like I was constantly told I would have died from withdrawal alone. people should get the choice to do what they want with their bodies and their lives. why can't we just try to make sure people survive?

every single essay I write has the most amazing scholarly first few paragraphs and then it just devolves into a complete dumpster fire from there and that could easily be fixed by places LETTING ME PICK what to write about

I stopped all my meds, and the negative feelings are alot worse and I'm a bit scared but I have feelings now, I don't feel like I'm 20 feet under water. I said this to my doctor and he basically told me that I was manic and that I don't know what's good for me. I may be manic I'm not sure but I can feel now. I am alive. I am going outside, I am fighting for things. I am even looking for a job that may work for me! I have an interview soon. how can it be so bad for me to feel a bit more like a human again?

no part of the human body is inherently sexual. nudity is not inherently sexual. breasts are not inherently sexual. vaginas aren't inherently sexual. penises aren't inherently sexual. NO PART OF THE HUMAN BODU IS INHERENTLY SEXUAL!!!!!

addiction is not a silly way to describe having a favorite thing. saying "omg I'm such a [object or thing] addict!" or something like that when you really just mean it is something that you enjoy makes you shit. along with the already terrible stigmas surrounding addiction it makes it seem like something that people chose. it makes it seem like something that people just don't want to stop. stop using addiction and addicts as your punchline.

every once in a while, I think about the stigma around the specific drug I used. how when people think about shooting up, think about the stereotypical "dirty homeless junkie" and think of someone who is just "selfishly destroying things." When I got started when I was 12, I mean I was a KID. I had just gotten my first phone! it wasn't like I went to a bunch of parties or stuff like that. my first dealer was a doctor, I flipped over my bike, broke both my wrists, and got a prescription, wasn't warned about how quickly addiction can accelerate and then I was staying at grown mens houses, doing stuff I swore I never would and running from everything. the only reason I am not in jail rn is because I am high functioning and really good at hiding. I wasn't a reckless person who didn't care, I was just a kid who didn't know how to survive.
