Excited about AI
My brother was bugging me to give this whole AI thing a chance for months but I told him I had other priorities but man was he right.
The power I have with AI feels amazing. The only limit is my imagination and my imagination has no limit. I've already made thousands of illustrations and I can't wait to get my shop up and running.

Robot Overlords (2014)
Alien robots have taken over the world and issued a curfew stopping anyone from leaving their homes.
A fair few of the cast were recognisable, some big names and a competent supporting cast to maintain the drama well throughout. Gillian Anderson provided a very proficient English accent. The fascist subtext was also strong, building on the uniformity of machines as well as parallels to the SS and gestapo through the collaborators.
There were a few times that strong threats diffused themselves before they could be fully realised, like armies of robots that stand about waiting, get called off, or are just for decoration while a larger weapon is employed. Even the AI child didn’t pose much of a physical threat despite being one of the main antagonists.
Most of the effects hold up very well which is unusual for a science fiction film set in the UK. The robots themselves had some decent variety and were well designed. The lore was fairly traditional and familiar but had some twists and developed. The character Connor was amusing and got to be suitably useful for the story as well as being well performed.
The plot was mostly engaging and maintained an effective pace with some enjoyable deviations, although there could have been more background for the antagonists’ motivation or origins so that they weren’t merely archetypal villains. There was a love sub-plot tacked unnecessarily onto the end which felt added simply because it’s typically done.
4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-
-There are several references to popular robot fiction. The voice modulation for Mediator 452 is the same as GlaDOS from the Portal games, one character is named Connor after John Connor from the Terminator franchise, and the spaceships are cuboid like the Borg from Star Trek.
