Y’all can give me a shoulder blade massage too sometimes, ya know? But I’ve been resting and recovering. I’m taking a week break. This Europe heat is no joke. I was questioning why am I so tired? It usually doesn’t take me a week to recover from a few days hard ride and I realized it’s due to the weather. It’s been high 80/ 90 F or 30/32 C out here and my body hasn’t gotten used to it, so it depletes me. Wearing all black gear in the sun super dehydrates you. I think I just need to take more breaks and drink electrolytes throughout the day. No more drinking just water because it’s not enough for me. Anyone have any tips for consecutive (months long) hot riding days? No one said chasing your dreams would be easy. It tests your physical and mental limits, but it’s part of the process. Happy Monday y’all! How was your weekend? Athena and I are just poking around Methana, Greece. No destination in mind, just hugging the Peloponnese coastline taking the long way around. When I ride along the water, I just feel so calm and can go for hours without getting bored. I guess part what keeps me from getting bored is the slight anxiety from not wanting to ride off the cliff. Hah, see what I did there? Life is about balance 😺 The scenery is breathtaking. These small village roads aren’t even wide enough for two cars to pass each other, there’s not a human in sight. Just spectacular. Large or small, some places don’t have to be famous for us to enjoy the gifts they bring. Small villages are just as enjoyable to visit in their own quaint way. Happy Friday y’all! Hello from the village of Ancient Epidavros. It’s literally a village, but they have a modern gym, beautiful views, a huge grocery store and a moto mechanic shop. I’m set, what more do I need? I guess just a badminton gym 😹 Also! Did you know today is Friday the 13th? I don’t know if I believe in these days necessarily meaning bad luck. I do, however, believe in signs and supernatural stuff. So I will say something interesting happened to me. I met with someone today who had “13” tattooed on him. What it means? Happy Monday y’all! How was your weekend? Were you able to do things that light you up and inspire you? I am so happy to say that after a little of over 6 months of riding Athena, I am finally getting more confident on unpaved roads, loose gravel and dirt. For me, it typically takes a year of the learning curve before I start gaining confidence on a new combustion machine. I still do get nervous because not every line is predictable, but I can clearly identify that I am not afraid to tackle some roads head on. It feels so good to be more confident on my bike, I knew this day would come. Honestly I just needed time and experience on a dual sport. I was able to tell this last weekend that I became more confident because I didn’t even hesitate hopping a curb fully loaded. Before I would ride along on the sidewalk and find a gentle sloping driveway. Now I just send it 😈 Are there any areas of growth you see in yourself? I would love to hear about it. Hello from the Archaeological Site of Mystra! The wonders of Peloponnese never cease to amaze me. Overlooking the ancient city of Sparta, Mystra features two levels: the castle above and monasteries and churches below. It was built in 1248 AD by the Franks and then constantly exchanged hands by being captured by the Byzantines, Turks and then Venetians. It was finally abandoned in 1834 as the inhabitants of Mystras gradually started to move to the modern town of Sparta down the mountain. I came here early and was one of the only people walking around. Some of the walls, churches and monasteries are in very good condition. I enjoyed walking around the whole site and was very thankful to have my bike so I could ride from the upper level to the lower level. I’m happy I’m able to see all these amazing sites with my motorcycle. I give you…my favorite part of Nafplio. There are no words to describe this view. You can stare at it for hours. I can’t believe a place like this exists. It looks like it’s out of a fairy tale. I also can’t believe this is my life. I want thank all of you who are hanging out with me on this expedition. I hope that what I’m doing inspires you in some way or shifts you to believe what is possible for yourself. Know that I am just a normal person who worked hard and saved a lot to make this possible for myself. I made sacrifices along the way. I also had a lot of help along the way, employers who took a chance on a fresh grad and inexperienced employee, friends and family who enabled and pushed me to be my best self, yet also allowed me be my true self, no matter how crazy my ideas were. In Greece, you can find me where land meets sea. I didn’t plan this day. I just meandered and let free flow take me. I followed the road to the dead end, got off my bike, let my curiosity take control and just started walking. I found myself all by myself at the very tippy tippy of this rocky barren peninsula.
