PINK and an Ancient Pun!
Our word pink seems to derive from the colour of the flowers we know as 'Pinks', specifically coming from their frilled edges and may come from German.
However, there are two words, one Greek and one Latin that give us very familiar English words.
We shall go to the Latin first. roseus means the colour of the rose, rosa, that is to say, pink, reddish-pink, or rosy. The rose is a favourite flower with many, including myself. It's pretty name comes from the language of the Romans.
The Greek word is related to the Latin rosa and you will notice the similarity between them: ῥοδος (rhodos). You may well be a fan of the lovely flower the rhododendron, which, yes, is commonly a pinkish-red. The name means 'red or pink tree'. In Homer the word ῥοδος forms a lovely adjective with δακτυλος (rhododaktylos), which the poet uses to describe dawn, capturing the lovely pink-reddish-golden colour of the sunrise sky.
Now, here is where the pun comes in. ῥοδος can also denote the flower the rose.
Tumblr media
The lovely coin above shows a rose, a ῥοδος. You will have also spotted a word at the top which reads ΡΟΔΙΩΝ (ῥοδιων - rhodion). This tells you the people who minted these coin. Wait for it...(*drum roll*)...it was the Rhodians. The coin puns on the name of the people and the flower.
So, that concludes Cool Colours entry VII. Who knew you could connect the colour pink with ancient numismatic punnage? Wonderful!

So.... What does Poseidon think about Helios and his daughter Rhodos being married or a couple in general
Poseidon: my first thought when they starte hooking up was "how do they even do it?"
Poseidon: my second thought, when they started dating was "meh, good for her"
Poseidon: my third thought, when Zeus finally decided to put an end to his sentence was 'kay, he goes jogging anyway"
Poseidon: my fourth thought, when they announced their marriage was "WHYYYY??? MY BABYGIIIIIRL!!!"
Poseidon: and my final thought, when they finally have kids, will be: "HOW?"

This week's newsletter from AthensLive is out: It’s not as bad as California, so it’s alright ND & PASOK soon to become 1 billion ‘Save the beaches’ movement is here to stay The debt of ND and PASOK cumulatively is circa 840 million euros and rising with no repercussions on the two parties. And that’s probably all you need to know about Greek politics and the finances of the state.
Some 48,700 hectares were burned (Opens in a new window) during the 17-30 July wildfires in Greece, but the head of the Greek Climate Change Committee claims it is not too bad compared with the California 2021 wildfire. The Greek PM promised free vacation for tourists affected in Rhodes before taking care of the local communities.
The good news is that a new movement reclaiming Greece’s beaches by denouncing illegal beach bars and sunbeds is spreading throughout the country and has already woken up the authorities, who have been turning a blind eye for decades.
It cannot be recommended strongly enough to read and share this week's updates on the events and developments in Greece here: https://steadyhq.com/en/athenslivegr/posts/f1fd7e96-3dbe-4935-890a-966550fc0e9b

Do you plan to design Triton's Sisters from the Original Greek Mythology for how they would look if they appeared in Disney's "Hercules"?
I just found out that Poseidon and Amphitrite have Three Daughters named "Rhodos", "Benthesikyme", and "Kymopoleia".
They're not really brought up much like Hades and Persephone's Children but do you plan to design Triton's Sisters?
Well, I haven't really thought about designing Triton's sisters until now. And I may have to think about proper designs, but I'm sure I'll think of something

Something I genuinely wonder is what the love story between Helios and Rhodos is.
My point is that Helios is a titan (which is already a bad thing) and a grumpy one at that who doesn't like the current generations of olympian gods. He also doesn't have the best personality best example being his temper additionally adding his other more negative personality traits which makes it surprising how well they get along. Not only can he also be the type to sleep around *cough* Nyx *cough* but Rhodos is the daughter one of the three kings and as I said earlier helios is a titan and an imprisoned one at that which makes their marriage questionable (heck in my fan fiction the only reason why they end up married is because of a deal with Zeus) especially with Poseidon allowing his daughter to marry someone like Helios who like I said have some not so good qualities.
When it comes to Rhodos, her personality is never described in myth but it still makes me wonder how they initially fell in love and what she saw in Helios that made her fall for him
Rhodos: i thought he was hot. Easy as that.
Rhodos: and yeah, he doesn't really get along with my pops but hey, they rearely see eachother.
Rhodos: also, he didn't really mind when i started hooking up with him, sunburns aside, but when he knew we bot bethroded he got... sentimental... in a watery way. Mom had to calm him down afterwards.
Rhodos: aaand yeah, he works all day being the sun and all that, but it's okay i guess, don't really mind. Ever wondered what happens when the sun sets over the sea? Now you know *wink*
