we deserved to see coruscant again in the sequels. we deserved to see the abandoned remains of the center of both the republic and the empire. we deserved to see how the rot of the dark side and corruption and greed left the city planet empty, haunted by what it was, picked apart by scavengers. we deserved to see it as a very clear warning that what was once a symbol of peace and democracy easily gave way to fascism, and how it could all happen again if they weren’t careful. that peace and the fight against fascism isn’t one you win once, but a practice that continues from one generation to the next. we deserved that.

*This is a recording of the live panel Rachael recorded with Marie-Claire of What the Force and Laurie, an emerging screenwriter and director - on the Fan Stage at Star Wars Celebration Europe. Rachael has recorded a special intro and outro for the recording.*
The Force Awakens begins with a single line: “This will begin to make things right.” As we approach ten years since the sequel trilogy began, this panel looks at how the sequels expand upon and intersect with the mythological underpinnings of the first two trilogies. In particular, we will focus on how the story of Rey and Kylo Ren tests the boundaries between right and wrong, bringing fresh perspectives to a saga known for its binary morality.
This panel is hosted by Rachael of the Scavenger’s Hoard podcast. She is joined by Marie-Claire of What the Force?, and Laurie Kirwan-Ashman, an emerging screenwriter and director.

❛ you’re my family too. ❜
* soft & sweet starters | accepting
her inhale rattles in her chest, catching in the back of her throat. it's embarrassing, to be so EMOTIONAL in front of someone else -- embarrassing for how unfamiliar it is, and for how strange it feels, like stepping into a new pair of shoes and trying to trudge through the desert in them, her toes pinching with every step.
rey squints up at the sun, as though hoping the residual heat will somehow dry her suspiciously wet eyes. her teeth clamp down hard on the side of her tongue.
after a moment, she slowly relents, unclenching first her jaw and then her shoulders, which slump before the line of her neck follows, her head ducking until the hair that had slipped loose from her buns trails across her cheeks.
"yeah," she says quietly, "same here."
it's a RELIEF to have the words out. since she's known cal, she's been worried about him uncovering something he doesn't like about her. something that will make him rethink their tenuous friendship, and the even-more-tenuous more that's followed it.
it's left her second-guessing every word that comes out of her mouth, and all the revelations that still feel so MONUMENTAL to her, in sharp contrast to the ease with which he offers them up in turn.
rey risks a glance at his face, keeping her eyes on his expression instead of looking away quickly once she sees it's far from the disaster she'd expected. he looks happy, to have her return the sentiment, and suddenly, for the first time, there's a desire to say MORE.
"i feel so... lucky, that we met. and that we get to -- spend so much time together." how DOES he do this so often? it's a struggle, yet she plows ahead in the interest of keeping that very special smile prominent. "it's really... made everything so much better. and i always look forward to seeing you."

He takes it upon himself to feed her, trying to ignore his growing feelings for her every time her lips close around a fork, or she lets out those soft little moans of contentment when she eats something she really likes. Along the way, he discovers a passion for making food that he’d never known existed. What happens when she finds out what he’s been doing? Will she forgive him? Or will he lose her forever?
