i’m like 20 pages into the haunting of hill house and it’s so devastatingly good already. if i was a novelist in the 60s and i read this book i would have given up writing entirely bc how could anyone ever hope to compete with this. shirley jackson keeps saying stuff and i’m just like god! damn!
