Our funds are dangerously low & it’s just not getting any better. In fact, it’s getting worse. Our vet bills alone were $50,000 last week! We are spending more than we are raising & the math just isn’t working. Without continuous incoming donations, we cannot pay our bills and therefore, cannot say yes to dogs in need. We see other rescues closing daily. They just can’t continue in today’s circumstances. We understand & we sympathize. How can we not?! We are facing the very same obstacles every single day. The LAST thing we want to do is close intake, but we need help & we are begging for help now. We founded RDR NYC 7 years ago & we have placed about 9000 animals. We are so proud of all the dogs (& cats) who were saved & given the gift of life. We could not have done this without your generous help & support & for that we are forever grateful. The obstacles we are facing now are not just RDR issues, they are rescue community issues: -very difficult to place even “easy” dogs -lack of fosters -lack of adopters -for every dog adopted, we are getting 2 or 3 dogs returned, some adopted 5+ years ago -harder dogs declining in boarding -24/7 messages & pleas for help -compassion fatigue is real & impacts us all -donations down We are showing you some of the dogs we have saved in 2022. She was found abandoned and alone, wandering the harsh Texas streets. From there she ended up in a high kill shelter where she was scheduled to be euthanized after 2 extensions. We just could not let that happen to this sweet and innocent angel. Jasmine is absolutely gorgeous. All it takes is one look into those soulful eyes and it’s love at first sight! She is friendly with people of all ages and other dogs and will be spayed and up to date on vaccines prior to placement in her forever home. Repost @rescuedogsrocknyc with @repostapp ・・・ Remember Milo who we saved after he was found with a gaping hole in his back, playing with children in a rural AL neighborhood. He was rushed to an AL vet hospital for life saving medical care. What we thought happened to Milo, that he was hacked with an ax has been confirmed by our vet to not be the case. In fact, was Milo WAS SHOT with intent to kill him. Lucky for Milo the person shooting missed his chest & shot his back. When surgery was being performed to close the area, it was evident that gun powder was at the site & Milos bone had been grazed with a bullet. Thankfully our surgeon was able to clean the area, remove the gun powder & stitch the deep hole. Here is Milo today, continuing his recovery. Milo is also heartworm positive, & treatment will begin for this as well. Milo is very lucky he's alive today. He remains an absolute sweetheart with everyone. He's a 1 to 2 year old bull dog. Great with kids & other dogs. He's almost ready to come up to NY & will needs place to go once he arrives.
