Update:
He was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, he had no broken bones. He was examed, xrayed, and given medications. He will need follow-up care to help prevent any infections.

He is in extreme pain and he's such a sweet furbaby. With everything he's been through he's shown no sign of aggression.

I'M A GOOD BOY, REALLY I AM! - PLEASE
I'M ONLY ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE ME... Handsome Curtis has sadly spent his entire life behind shelter walls, and there’s honestly no good reason that this should have happened. Curtis came in to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter as a stray in November of 2015 at only 9 months of age; he was emaciated and had very bad mange. He was lucky enough to land a home quickly after being medically treated but sadly was returned to the shelter after being found again stray. It turned out his owner had been evicted from his home and he never came back to the shelter for Curtis. Curtis has gotten the raw end of the deal one too many times; let down by those who promised him forever.
Curtis is a stunning 5-6 year young, 85 pound, blue brindle Terrier Mix. He is a goofy, awkward guy who grew up in age behind shelter walls, but still acts like a puppy. Although Curtis is adored and well taken care of at the shelter, he is really hoping that the rest of his life can be spent filled with love and happiness outside the walls of the shelter. Until now, the shelter staff has been Curtis’s family, he even has 2 very loving shelters moms, but he truly deserves so much more, and we need to help him!
Curtis is the type of dog that wants to be with you all the time, he loves to chew on his toys and chase stick,s but his favorite thing to do is lay at your feet. He is the sweetest boy but shelter life is very stressful for him and he does not “show well” in his kennel. Because of this issue, Curtis spends his days in the offices instead and actually has had a couple meet and greets but because of his size and puppy behavior, people just don’t want to take him home – this is just beyond heartbreaking.
Shelter life is overstimulating for all dogs and Curtis is no exception, he suffers from severe separation anxiety, to the point that the staff have to take him to the bathroom with them or put him in his crate. Separation anxiety is common for many dogs, long periods of constant togetherness followed by an abrupt, enforced separation simply becomes too much for Curtis.
When he gets frustrated and bored he will start licking himself and bitin

It really is one of the worst I have seen. I could smell it driving with her. Tonight she has been started on antibiotics and she will go straight to the vet in the morning and have an exam, bloodwork and chest X-rays before having a dental. She is also very thin and needs to gain some weight so we will be working on that. The shelter wanted to euthanize Blueberry because he was surrendered with mange. A shelter volunteer asked us to save him so we could get him some medical relief and so his life would be spared. He is a very sweet dog who deserves a second chance and that's who we are so we decided to take him into our program. #Repost @racc_shelter with @make_repost ・・・ We have 3 small dogs with special needs! First is Lunnie🎩 - a REALLY NICE Miniature Toy Poodle with very bad teeth. Lunnie will need his adopter to prioritize a dental. He will most likely need some extractions. He is around 10 years old and sweet as can be. Well behaved/older kids only - he can be a little worried around too much commotion. Second, we have Sabrina🎀 - she is a 100 year old Miniature Pinscher with eye issues. She has KCS (chronic dry eye) and an ulcer. We have to give her eye meds daily, and she is a pistol for them. She is also deaf and her vision is poor. We will be sending her to an ophthalmologist but they are booked for the next month. We would love to find her a home. Her adopter must be comfortable giving eye medicine and a confident dog handler, as she is very sensitive and will try to bite😊. NO KIDS Then we have Ginger👑 - she is special because she is a diva. Ginger has been refusing dog food since her intake date. We have given her sooo many yummy options but she only likes people food 🙄 she needs someone who will ensure she is getting a balanced diet - you can’t ONLY eat chicken and pizza Ginger, you need other vitamins!
