Denise and Remus started as friends at first, sharing many things and friends in common and bonding over many things until he started acting weird around her. She took it as a hint to leave him be, until one day James was adamant on getting her a blind date. Tired of exams, she accepted.

To her surprise, she had been paired with Remus, and both of them had a blast of a date and hit it off, finding new things to bond over. That night, he kissed her cheek and she knew that she was developing a crush on him. On their fifth year, she participated on their pranks and loved to be near Remus. Both of them decided to start dating and the first eight months were the best; Remus was the best boyfriend and Denise felt like a princess.

But he also behaved strangely, and when he came to her room with new scars and tired, she confronted him about it, but he instead, in the middle of a screaming match, broke up with her. She left, crying and confused. She cornered James in the Prefects’ bathroom with a very thin towel and a wand to his crotch to tell him what was wrong with her greatest love, and he managed to tell her that if she asked properly, he’d gladly tell her. And when she went to give him his favourite chocolate, he confessed his furry problem and she delivered a speech of how little she minded and that she loved him nevertheless and always would. They came back together and were better than ever. During Yule of that year, Denise wore a royal blue and white dress and Remus was floored to say the least. They danced all night and she asked how he’d feel if she became and animagus to be there for him during full moon.

He finally accepted and the first moons were amazing, to the point where, after transforming back to human, the two gave to their passions in the lake and Sirius, who caught them covered only in his jacket, teased them for a week. The next moon, Remus was overworked and scratched her shoulder, and she barely made it alive. Remus tried to break up again, but she wouldn’t budge. Every night, she’d stay awake until he slept and sneaked him notes of poems of how his ‘beauty never ever scared her’ until he eventually came around.

After graduating and with the war boiling, Remus proposed to Denise. They were to marry in July, and Denise would confess on their wedding night that she was with child, until, a week before the wedding, Voldemort attacked Hogsmeade. She found herself face to face with Bellatrix Lestrange, and she gave her one hell of a fight. Unfortunately, when looking for Marlene, she was hit square in her belly, and she screamed in pain. She whispered how she just lost her baby. She looked at Bellatrix and said “I may be gone today, but the Order of the Phoenix will continue on enough to destroy you and our blood will have been well spent.” This grated Bellatrix, who casted the Killing Curse on her and killed both Denise and her baby. When Remus heard what happened, he was in denial. He went to see where she was, and when he saw the body and her hand on her belly, he broke down in tears. His wails could be heard all over the village, as if his soul was leaving his body. Sirius carried her body silently to his house, where she was prepared for the funeral.

Her father blamed Remus for dragging his little girl into his mess, and Isabella, broken of pain, hung herself in her bedroom. Her husband followed soon after. The three of them had a funeral at Hogwarts and were buried together. Despite outliving her for many years, he always remembered her. It is said that he reunited with her when he passed away...

The two of them met through James, and soon hit it off, bonding over many things and always being together due to being in love with Sirius and Remus. They were soon inseparable and always chatted about what was on their minds. She was even asked to be a Maid of Honour, but when Chess heard the news, she was devastated. She never forgot her good friend Denise.

Denise could see through Snape’s façade right away and was of the ones to warn Lily against him, and he always resented her for it, and he remained silent after her death was announced.

She was one of the brightest witches alongside Lily– her spells and incantments were powerful and had a strong prowess

Her mother had two miscarriages before she gave up on giving Denise a sibling

She had a twin but ate it in the womb 💀

Before and after her death she was admired by everybody

James and Sirius thought her one of the most beautiful women in Hogwarts

She wanted to be an Auror with James and Sirius but couldn't do it

She was going to be Nymphadora Tonks' godmother

She was a Head Girl of Ravenclaw and Flitwick's personal duel apprentice— he could tell she'd be a Champion in no time

She was a strong Quidditch Player and she and James always bet before every match to see who'd catch it first– James bought several butterbeers to Denise

Even after marrying Tonks and having Teddy, Remus never forgot to put some flowers and cast her favourite spell on her grave and Tonks had mad respect for her

There was a rumour that her ghost sulked through Hogsmeade, but it turned out to be just a rumour.

Peter tried to frame Sirius for killing her too, but couldn't because Bellatrix chanted that she killed her in Azkaban.

Sirius once punched Lucius for accosting Denise and Remus threatened to wait for him at the door of Hogsmeade if he ever came near her. It was one of the very few times one saw Remus truly angry.

Her story was included in a children book about a brave witch who died saving the baby in her womb and that her unborn daughter turned into a flower.

She died a few days before Lily and James.

Molly also said that she saw Denise when Bellatrix tried to kill her daughter and saw red and that's why she killed her out of rage– she couldn't stand Bellatrix hurting another innocent.

Draco built a statue of her in the very spot where she died of her fighting with her baby bump as a tribute and public apology of his family's damage to every single wizard and witch terrorised by the Death Eaters and his aunt Bellatrix.

She was one of the brightest witches alongside Lily– her spells and incantments were powerful and had a strong prowess

Her mother had two miscarriages before she gave up on giving Denise a sibling

She had a twin but ate it in the womb 💀

She was one of the most tragic witches

Before and after her death she was admired by everybody

James and Sirius thought her one of the most beautiful women in Hogwarts

She wanted to be an Auror with James and Sirius but couldn't do it

She was going to be Nymphadora Tonks' godmother

She was a Head Girl of Ravenclaw and Flitwick's personal duel apprentice— he could tell she'd be a Champion in no time

She was a strong Quidditch Player and she and James always bet before every match to see who'd catch it first– James bought several butterbeers to Denise

Even after marrying Tonks and having Teddy, Remus never forgot to put some flowers and cast her favourite spell on her grave and Tonks had mad respect for her

There was a rumour that her ghost sulked through Hogsmeade, but it turned out to be just a rumour.

Peter tried to frame Sirius for killing her too, but couldn't because Bellatrix chanted that she killed her in Azkaban.

Sirius once punched Lucius for accosting Denise and Remus threatened to wait for him at the door of Hogsmeade if he ever came near her. It was one of the very few times one saw Remus truly angry.

Her story was included in a children book about a brave witch who died saving the baby in her womb and that her unborn daughter turned into a flower.

She died a few days before Lily and James.

Molly also said that she saw Denise when Bellatrix tried to kill her daughter and saw red and that's why she killed her out of rage– she couldn't stand Bellatrix hurting another innocent.

𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑬𝒓𝒂 𝑶𝑪- 𝑫𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒏

The same year as the Marauders, she was a pureblood daughter of a widowed mother whose husband had been killed by Fenrir Greyback and swore on his grave to avenge him.

When she comes to Hogwarts, she and James Potter bond over many things and while she is sorted into Ravenclaw, she stayed close to the Marauders and was even friends with Lily Evans and Marlene McKinnon. Her first four years were mostly uneventful, though Sirius once set her a blind date with Remus.

Because of her empathetic spirit and politeness and kindness, Sirius had a short-term on her where he tried to kiss her but she made clear she was not looking for anything of the sort right now, which he responded as if clearing his thoughts “I could never break my best friend's heart anyways being with you” which left her confused. Lily told her that she had heard whispers of one of the Marauders having a crush on her but she brushed it off.

The fifth year Remus started to write her poems and love letters signing as Your L. She brushed off that feeling but welcomed the feeling and tried to focus on the OWLS, but when Professor Slughorn made the amortentia class, all she could smell was Remus and since then she couldn't keep him off her mind. She finally decided weeks before the OWLS to make her move.

On Hogsmeade, she sent him an owl to meet her on a quiet corner and asked him if he ever had feelings and was the author of those letters, which he responded by a series of sputters and ended up pecking her on the cheek. She was at first shocked and didn't move, which he took as a rejection and started to leave the snowy village. She followed him, spun him around and kissed him passionately as snow fell, not caring about the "eww"s of the children and the applause of the villagers and pedestrians. They started dating ever since.

The sixth year was her most painful. Tensions had been high because of his small lycan condition and in one of the heated arguments he broke up with her and she vowed to hate him forever.

For weeks, they didn't talk until one day where she was volunteering with Madam Pomfrey when she saw Remus's injuries and was horrified by it, and cornered James—fully knowing that he couldn't say no to her scary demeanour— and begged him to let her help, which he acceded –mostly because he was shirtless and against the wall on the Prefect's Bathroom and with a wand on his throat– and told them their plan of becoming Animagi. She passed the process flawlessly and her animagus form became a lioness.

On the next full moon, she was the one to calm down Remus and take him to a hidden lake, where they gave into their passions (Sirius found them snuggling in a scandalous state. He never stopped teasing them)

They finally passed their OWLS with Shannon having E's and several O's. The rest of their Hogwarts stay was normal and stayed one last summer on James's house.

After Hogwarts, Remus planned to propose to her, and Denise had a surprise of her own that only Lily and Marlene knew: she was pregnant and was certain it was a girl. She was going to name her Theresa.

But that never came to pass.

On that fateful day, the Death Eaters weaked havoc on Hogsmeade and brave Denise, trying to protect Marlene, was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange. Her last words were “For The Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore!” Though they had an intense and tough duel, Bellatrix killed Denise and saw too late her five-month baby bump. It is rumoured Denise Shannon was the only murder she ever regretted, and many in the Wizarding World hated her for killing in cold blood a pregnant woman.

Remus found her dead body afterwards, and it is said his wails were as if his soul was being separated from his body as he clutched the body of the love of his life and his unborn child.

A funeral was made for her at Hogwarts, where Remus, Sirius, Minerva and Dumbledore gave beautiful speeches. Sirius commissioned a moving painting of her with her baby bump to be placed on the Ravenclaw dorm for the first-years, where she'd always protect the children as she died protecting hers.

To this day, Denise is an example to Ravenclaws and respected all over the houses, and the day of her birthday and death, all the non-Ravenclaw alumni were allowed to put candles in her portrait to remember the brave woman who didn't hesitate to face the lethal Bellatrix Lestrange despite her condition, showing courage, wit, cunning and selflessness.
