Hi. I was wondering if you'd be willing to write an kind of AU where Sihtric can actually hear people's thoughts. Something like telepathy. And he meets Reader and he can hear all her thoughts also about himself. That would be kind of scary 😂 but also I'm sure you'd make it super fun. I don't care if you make it medieval or modern, anything you'd like.
Note: giving u all a break from my Halloween fic as I edit the next chapters. And oh my god, this idea was so cute! I could've made this SUCH a long fic, but I got too much going on already, so I kept it simple. hope you like it!
Warnings: suggestive, lots of curse words...
pairing: Modern!Sihtric x you (f)
Summary: Sihtric noticed a new library employee, and you certainly had loud thoughts about him.

'I just can't focus on the words anymore.'
Sihtric worked from home, as it was the only way he could keep a job. And to prevent himself from isolating, he goes to the library every day, when his work was done. He had been going to the library ever since he recently moved, and by now he already knew all the employees by face, and thoughts. But today, as he had to return a book he had borrowed, he saw someone new behind the service desk. Someone seemingly innocent who took his breath away at first glance.
*******************
Sihtric was blessed with a curse. He was one of the very few who was able to hear other people's thoughts. It had driven him insane when he grew up. But as he got older, he learned how to deal with it. He could almost tune it out, so to speak, but it was still always there. He was sick and tired of the people in his hometown, so he had recently moved. He found the library in his new city a lovely place, as it was quiet and with little people around, and those who were around usually had no thoughts going on, because they were reading or writing in peace.
'Hi,' you looked up from your computer, 'how can I help you?' Holy shit, you thought, which Sihtric heard.
'Hey,' Sihtric smiled, 'eh, I'd like to return this book.'
'Sure thing, you got your library card?' what the fuck…
'Of course, hold on, it's somewhere in my backpack,' Sihtric said and started rummaging around in the bag.
Where did this guy come from? Oh my god… what a babe. That jawline, that accent, those arms- wait, are those scars on his face? Oh my… I sure like a bad boy. And that hair! Oh, sweet Jesus, the wild hair. Wait, what book is he returning… you glanced at the book on your desk, damn, A Brief History of Time? Okay… pretty boy got the brains too...
Sihtric smirked as he looked for his library card. He usually didn't enjoy hearing what people thought of him, but you had to be the prettiest lady he had ever seen. And he was happy to hear you thought he wasn't bad himself.
'Here,' he handed you the card and looked into your eyes.
What the fuck, he has two different coloured eyes? IS THAT EYELINER? Oh my fucking god, I am very unwell right now…
'Thanks,' you smiled as you took his card.
Are those lines tattooed on his fingers? Jesus fucking christ, I'd let this guy rail me in the backroom right now…
Sihtric suddenly coughed and tried to compose himself as you scanned his card and the book he's returning.
'There you go. Anything else?' you pushed his library card back over your desk and smiled. If you need any help… anything… ANYTHING
'It's taken care of?' he asked while putting the card back in his backpack, trying not to smile.
'Yep, you can borrow another book again if you wish.' do you want me to read you anything? At night? In bed perhaps?
'Thanks,' he smiled, 'not to be nosy, but… are you new here? I've been here daily for a few weeks now, ever since I moved, and I haven't seen you before.'
Aha, new guy in town I see… well, hello...
'Oh, no, I've been working here for years,' you said, 'but I was on holiday, only returning last weekend. So back to work it is.' you are hotter than the temperature on that island I was at…
'I see,' Sihtric chuckled, 'a damn shame time flies when you're on holiday, right?'
'A damn shame,' you smiled. A damn shame you're probably not single…
'I am,' Sihtric blurted out.
'W-what?' you froze. What the fuck?!
'I mean,' Sihtric cleared his throat, 'I… I am Sihtric,' he saved himself, holding his hand out to you.
'S-Sihtric,' you smiled, 'I'm (y/n),' you said and shook his hand. Fuck, I love a guy with a firm handshake. I wonder what else is firm about him…
'Nice to meet you,' Sihtric tried to suppress a grin, 'I'll be seeing you around.' He winked before he turned his back to you, on his way to pick another book to read.
He did not just wink. Did he wink? Oh my god. OH. MY. GOD. I have to text the girls…
Sihtric chuckled to himself as he heard your thoughts. He scanned his eyes over numerous titles until he found something that seemed interesting, before he purposely went to sit close to the service desk. Close to you.
You looked up as you saw movements in the corner of your eye, and you found Sihtric smiling at you as he sat down. Sir, the whole library is free… why… why must you sit there. A torture.
'Found a new one to read,' Sihtric said, holding up a book.
'Enjoy,' you chuckled. My god, he is cute. He is ridiculously cute. And hot. That's it, I'm calling the cops. This is a whole crime… I better call the fire brigade too. AND the medics, because someone needs to check my pulse…
Sihtric hid his face behind his book and couldn't stop smiling. He thought you were cute, yet not that innocent though. But Sihtric didn't mind that, because if he was honest; he would totally rail you in the backroom too right now. But he was a gentleman, for now, and you were at work.
******************
Do your job, girl, come on. Stop letting your eyes wander to the insanely hot guy with the strange name- oh, fuck no!
Sihtric looked up from his book.
'Hello, beautiful!' a man said as he walked up to you.
'Shhh! This is a library!' you hissed quietly, 'how many times do I have to tell you?'
'I know, I know,' the man said more quietly now, 'just came here to see you again.'
I know, you fucking creep. You smiled.
'So, you never answered my question the other day… when I was here?' the man said and leaned over the counter, peeking at your legs under your work skirt. I'd make good work of those legs, mhm.
Sihtric grimaced at the unheard interaction. You were clearly creeped out by the guy, and rightfully so, he was old enough to be your grandfather, but he clearly had other ideas than slipping you some money to go and buy an ice cream, you know, the thing grandfathers are supposed to do.
'I'm sorry, but it's a work policy that I cannot go out with customers,' you said politely. This lie better fucking work…
'Oh, come on,' the man said. One night, he thought, that's all I need to ravag-
'Lady?' Sihtric called out to you, 'do you have a moment?'
'Yes!' you rushed away from the old creep. Oh thank god, praise the lord. Wait, better grab that clipboard and hold it behind my back so the creep can't check out my ass…
'Do you need something?' you asked Sihtric.
'Not really,' he whispered, 'but, I couldn't help noticing…' Sihtric cocked his head slightly towards the old man.
Fucking hell, that's how obvious it is? This is so embarrassing…
'Yeah,' you said softly, 'he's been hitting on me for months,' you made a grossed out face, 'I keep telling him no but he keeps coming back.'
'Won't your boss do anything about that?'
'My boss?' you scoffed, 'he doesn't give a shit about the employees.' He only cares about money. He doesn't even care that the creep waits outside until closing time, following me home…
'Can I help you somehow?' Sihtric asked, concerned about the behaviour of the man and the way no one seemed to care.
Oh my god, he's so fucking cute… why can't this guy wait outside for me until closing time...
'No,' you smiled weakly, 'that's…that's really sweet, but there's nothing you can do, I'm afraid.' But you could hold me in those muscular arms…
'Okay,' Sihtric said, 'does he… does he stick around?' he carefully asked.
'Yeah, the creep figured out my shifts… his name is Aethelhelm, by the way, I guess calling "the creep" is a bit rude.'
'No worries,' Sihtric smiled, 'he looks like a creep.'
'He is,' you laughed softly and looked into Sihtric's eyes. Fuck… this guy is so beautiful. Wait, did his eyes just light up?
Sihtric quickly looked away and bit down on his lip.
'Anyway,' you cleared your throat, 'I… I should get back to work. Back to the creep,' you made a face, to which Sihtric smiled. 'But thanks for the distraction.'
'Anytime, lady,' Sihtric said and gave you a small nod. And he couldn't help checking out your ass when you walked back to your desk, and he bit down a smile when he heard your thoughts.
Yeah... I'd totally let him do me in the backroom…
**********************
'You finished that book already?' you asked about an hour later, when you saw Sihtric got up and was on his way to head out of the library. What kind of question is that, you dumbass. Well done being smooth…
'I guess,' you smiled. I hope so…
'No,' Sihtric smiled and shrugged. He had been glancing at you the whole time when you managed to focus on your work again, and his eyes kept trailing back to you.
'I just can't focus on the words anymore,' Sihtric continued, 'so that's my signal to go home. I'll see you around.'
*******************
'No, no, no,' you sighed when you saw Aethelhelm was waiting for you again as you closed the library. Maybe if I'm really fast he won't be able to catch up with me...
You quickly locked the door and almost sprinted around the corner, where you bumped into someone.
'I'm sorry!' you blurted out. Oh my god… oh no…oh no, I'm feeling myself blush!
'Oh, hey,' Sihtric smiled, 'are you okay? You look a little spooked.'
'Yeah, fine,' you lied and glanced back over your shoulder, 'just eager to get home.'
And get away from that fucking creep! Oh, no. No he's coming over. Oh for fuck sakes.
You looked back at Sihtric. I hope you will forgive me…
You grabbed Sihtric by his shirt and pulled him in for a kiss. It took him a few seconds to adapt to the situation. He already knew you were hiding from Aethelhelm, but didn't quite expect this. Yet he wasn't complaining, and he kissed you back without hesitation.
Fuck he's a good kisser, you thought, and Sihtric smiled against your lips as he pulled you closer.
Oh my god, you moaned softly against his lips, oh my god, fuck, he's so hot. Wait, what is he doing, you felt Sihtric's hands slide down your lower back, onto your ass. Sihtric knew "the creep" would see it, and he also knew what you had been thinking about earlier that day, so he amusingly squeezed your ass, firmly.
Oh, fuck, those hands… oh dear lord, I will be thinking about him tonight…
You raked your fingers through his loose hair, kissing him as Sihtric pushed you back towards the library entrance while "the creep" had already turned and left, looking upset.
Wait… you thought as you were pushed up against the library door, his lips still pressed onto yours, what… what is he doing… the library is closed…
'You wish to be railed in the backroom, lady?' Sihtric grinned
Oh, sweet Jesus, it's like he can read my thoughts, yes, please...

Hi Selena!!! I was wondering if you had any book recs/favorite books?
I got two for you that I read semi-recently (they're both horror)
The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall by Katie Alender is one that I read sometime last year and it SEVERELY FUCKS it's a supernatural horror about a girl who inherits a mansion and goes to move in w her family but after a few days something happens and she discovers that not only is she somehow magically trapped inside the house, but there's a ton of ghost women also trapped inside the house, and she has to figure out what's keeping everyone sealed in here and preventing the ghosts from passing on. I went in totally blind and didn't expect it to pack such a punch but I was crying by the end of it, it's very heavy on death and family themes which apparently I wasn't expecting lol but there's also a lot of funny bits in there and all the characters are super likeable! I would love to own my own copy one day it was such a good read I highly recommend it
the other one which I read this past April is Jurassic Park!! I figured with how much I love the movie it was a shame I hadn't read the book before and my god let me tell you. the movie may be sci-fi adventure but the book is straight up sci-fi horror and it's absolutely brutal, the tension is insane and the death scenes are so much more visceral than the movie does them it's amazing. I actually had to take a break when I got to Nedry's death scene bc it was so brutal. I also really loved how both the book and the movie had significant changes to the plot and characters but both of them were super well done and worked perfectly in their own ways! like I didn't finish the book and think "man the movie actually did this book dirty" or "that sucked, the movie improved it so much", both the movie and the book are amazing and it was fun to see exactly how the book was translated for it to work as a film. SO if you can handle graphic descriptions of wild animal attacks then definitely read this!!!!!!!!!! I started in on the sequel too but because I was reading it online and not with a physical copy like I did the first one I got distracted and I haven't picked it up since so I'm gonna try to hunt down a physical copy so I can read it that way (I just find it easier to read when I can actually hold the thing and not hafta sit at a computer)

RPG Read-through: Himbos of Myth & Mettle
After my recent read-through of .dungeon//remastered (originally posted to Twitter), someone there was like "I really like your old read-throughs. Have you put those somewhere else for when Twitter inevitably dies?" I hadn't! So here is a read-through I did last year about one of my favorite releases from the last few years Himbos of Myth & Mettle! - Christian
----------------------
Time to read-through one of the most fun games I've played this year: Himbos of Myth & Mettle by Maxwell Lander!
Tumblr media
Right out of the gate, this game has such an exuberant, fun energy to it, and I like the voice throughout the writing. The concept could be done much more impersonally/traditionally, but it really wouldn't carry the same feel at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Straightforward d20 roll-under system with guidance to create drama and fun over everything else. I've played with the dice chain optional rule and enjoyed it! It's something I love in other games and it's fun to see its inverse here (smaller dice are better).
Tumblr media
Interestingly, the system has a mixed success component as well - although you may not expect it with the d20 base. It takes something like your ability modifiers from a traditional game and makes that into a window of error that gets you success with a complication.
Tumblr media
The magic system is a lot of fun here. Any himbo can use their Heart stat to attempt superhuman or supernatural things. You answer some quick questions to determine the cost and roll to see if you pull it off. There's an effect table too if things go wrong with some wild results.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Heart system is a good encapsulation of what I enjoyed about this when I've had the chance to play it. It has this vivacious, positive, and often cartoonish energy to it where things almost always go big, in good and bad ways. It's very heartfelt (no pun intended).
Tumblr media
Fun art (by Mary Verhoeven) and quotes throughout this book too. I wonder if these were real player characters from playtesting or maybe in-universe Legends of Himbodom?
Tumblr media
One of the most memorable lists of player stats out there. It stresses letting players use most stats for most things. Doing something very courageous in combat? Roll Breast over Thighs. Flirting with an NPC to distract them while you pick their pocket? Roll Lips over Hands.
Tumblr media
Death is rare, rather Himbos take Scars when they fall to 0 Heart (acting primarily as health but also "mana" to some extent). Each scar makes them more and more jaded, a bit more negative. After 4 scars, they retire - becoming a hero maybe (yes, heroes are bad here!)
Tumblr media
There are special abilities, skills (gained from a lifepath system), and Heat (a bonus pool that reflects how sexy you are in the moment). I had a lot of fun with the special abilities in particular when I played.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
D20 tables throughout help build the tone really well. It's clear what kind of characters this game is focused on after looking these over. I really like lifepath systems in games, and this one is surprisingly extensive. It's fun to roll a random character and see who comes out.
Tumblr media
Tips section gives some guidance about trying to create a different type of story and different types of conflicts than you typically see in fantasy RPGs. I really like the take on Heroes here. It's a great twist on the genre (and is probably more accurate, honestly).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's got two adventures in the back, including the 12th Annual Fresh Meat Games which was the adventure I got to play through at EFCon. It's a local festival and competition that the PCs join to test their mettle in front of big crowds. Lots of fun.
Tumblr media
Nice little thing: there's a library check-out card holder on the back inside cover with little character sheets in it!
Tumblr media
That's the game! It's a lean little book, quick to read and quicker to play. It's got a straightforward central system with fun twists and tables throughout to ramp up the drama and really the entire text just exudes a unique, over-the-top, heartfelt tone I love.
Tumblr media
It's available digitally for $10 USD on Itch!
Tumblr media
The hardback version is great - really nice quality, it has a ribbon and those cool sheets in the back! I'd recommend picking it up HERE.
Lastly if you'd like to hear more from me, you can do that in my monthly newsletter (includes an article, an RPG freebie, and a list of cool stuff from myself and others over the last month): https://meatcastle.substack.com

Idk I thought this idea might be cute:
Rin, Shima and any of the other cram school kids: their crush falls asleep on their shoulder while studying 🥺
🩵😺
Hello!
Thank you for requesting ad forgive for the delay! Ihave been extremily busy at work :c
Anyway! I hope you enjoy what i have to offer, please let me know what you think!
Tsuki's note: Reader is a exorcist here. Also i picked Ryuji. For Shima's i will let you run wild with whatever shennanigans you may think they went through.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rin
You often helped Rin study.
It didn't even need to be close to exam week for you to be with him, studying.
The boy was trying his best!
Doing his homework with you and stuff.
Today you were helping him with some extra work Yukio gave him - according to his little brother, Rin's grade were too bad and he needed extra lessons to fixate the subject.
you had explained it to him a couple of times and was just watching him do the quizzes.
You were exhausted. You had recently come back from a mission, but you insisted on helped Rin.
Yukio only gave two days to finish the regular work + extra, so...
You were peaking over his shoulder to take a look at his answers.
At time you would make him questions to confuse him on purpose - If he truly learned, then he would be able to correct you or question you.
Which he did fairly ok.
As he went on getting the quiz right you started to feel your heavy.
It didn't help he was really warm - like a fuzzy blanket.
You also felt safe, much so people dismay.
You soon fell asleep.
Rin notice your lack of replies as he asked you a question.
He turned his head to see you leaning on his shoulder.
Your cheek were pressed against the side of his arm and you were snoring lightly.
Rin chuckled to himself calling you a silly person for coming to help him even though you were so tired.
He also felt his face burn and reach 5 shades of red. But his stare at you was very kind and loving.
He thought a little bit what he should do - stay still or carry you to his bed?
He finally made his mind that allowing you to rest on his bed would be the best for your back and neck.
Rin gently lifted you on his arms and placed you as carefully as he could on his bed.
You showed signs of being kind of awake, but Rin soon soothed you while covering you with a blanket.
The boy admired you for a moment there then, in jolted , decided to try hard at his work for your sake!
By the time you woke up, Rin was fast asleep on his table, but all of his assignment were done. A bit wet from his drooling but done.
Your turn to place a blanket around him.
And so you went with Kuro to fetch something for you three to eat.
Shima ( Renzo)
You were helping him study to catch up on a pushiment that Yukio gave him - to a write a massive essay about a very rare and specific demon.
The boy could be a massive coward at times and have a terrible grade.
Other times he was oddly brave and clever, go figure.
Renzo was whinnying the whole time about how unfair this was - he wasn't the only involved in the incident, the other boys were there too!
You sighed and hit his head with rolled paper sheet - no use complaining now, what is done, is done.
You were helping read the books to gather info on this demon, but his attention wasn't that great, he often flirted with you.
He eventually complained you were being too cold with him by just giving the books some attention.
So you decided to sit next to him - shoulder touching shoulder.
This made him blush a bit and get his ears red.
The boy still played it cool, kinda of.
Being this close you pointed out things for him to take note about the demon.
It was a lengthy and tiring process.
Finally he had all the notes, just had to write in an essay shape!
While he was at it, Renzo would sometimes chitchat about something with you.
You were leaning your head on the palm of your hand and soon enough your eyes got heavy.
You ended up dozing off and your head slightly leaning on the boy's shoulder.
The sudden tough made him call for you.
No answer. No called again and looking to his side, only find you gently leaning on his shoulder sleeping.
Renzo laughed to himself, he thought you were so so cute for dozing off like that.
He tried to stay still to best of his powers!
Often times he would think about grabbing our other hand - it was in sight and not far.
Just imagining how nice it would be if he could actually hold your hand....
These thoughts made his ears go red and silly appear on his face.
He allowed you to stay there until you woke up.
By the time you did he, once more, tried a picked up line along of " i didn't know you felt THAT safe, maybe i am your knight in shinning armour"
Which you replied by going red, slapping his head and walking away.
Completely worth it, on his eyes. Your cute blushing face was the high point of the day.
Ryuji
Neither of you needed that much help studying.
You met Ryuji in the school's yard.
He said he had to study "in peace" which probably meant he wanted to be alone or away from Rin and Renzo.
You offered to make him some company!
He reluctantly agreed, to your surprise - as long as you stay quiet, that is.
You decided to read a book while he studied on the yard.
At first you were seated next to each other, but then with time you ended up leaning on his shoulder.
Ryuji was surprised by feeling you lean on his him so suddenly, to the point of complaining about it.
You giggled and explained your reasoning.
As a response you got a sigh from him and a red ear, even though you couldn't see it.
The shade of the trees and the breeze made you fall asleep.
At one point Ryuji called out to you, he wanted to stretch a bit.
You didn't reply.
He called again and look at you, only to find you slightly snoring sleeping.
He sighed again and just watched you for a moment.
His face heating up.
The boy finally decided to let you be.
His arm was tingling, but you looked awfully peaceful.
It took him a while to go back to studying - you were so distracting.
When you woke up, Ryuji teased you without taking his eyes out of the book - " hey, you up sleeping beauty?"
the reason why his eyes didn't raise from the book is because his face would burn at the sight of you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for reading!
I hope you have enjoyed!

hiii lol just went through the entrance hall of uva academy and got some of the books that arent related to game mechanics everyone already knows. please lmk if scarlet has anything different i am so curious :0
Ground Floor, Left Side
The Uva Academy School Song
Over grand Mesagoza stands our dear Uva,
Where we enter as seeds and leave in fruition,
Our minds wide as the crater, for wise educators
To fill with individual spirit and future ambition.
Teach us well, O grapes of Paldea!
Ground Floor, Right Side
Student Registry
“This thick book holds a thorough record of the academy’s students and when they attended! Wait, what’s this? Some of the recent pages have been torn out so you can’t read them!”
Second Floor, Left Side
Appreciating Sunflora
In Artazon, a town alive with flowers and artwork, there is a special and abiding love for the Sun Pokemon Sunflora, whose sunny, floral figure and bright smile never fail to warm the heart.
Denizens of Attazon have long revered nature- the subject of much art made in the town- and the nurturing sun. Sunflora embodies qualities of both, which is why the town has a tradition of gathering and caring for these Pokemon.
Festivals of Paldea
The Paldean town of Cortondo, wildely known for its olive production, is also home to the peculiar Olive Harvest Festival. Partcipants try to usher in a plentiful olive harvest by rolling large balls that resemble olives into a goal.
It’s said that the more olive balls are rolled to rhe goal, the more abundant next years’s crop will be. All comers, including tourists, are welcome to join the Olive Roll- so, reader, do give it a try yourself if you’re in town for the festival!
Art: The Scenic Route
This month, we’re taking the scenic route over to Artazon to see Surrendering Sunflora by Brassius, the Verdant Virtuoso. This humble colimnist wonders if ever a work has so aptly captured ennui and languor as this installation.
The sculptures are every bit as surreal as the title, prompting great minds to debate what has sent these Sunflora into a state of surrender. But though the meaning may elude us, the reader is urged to visit Artazon and see for themselves.
Second Floor, Right Side
Paldean Sports Monthly
The Sub-zero Shredder has done it again! The world’s second-ranked snowboarder put on a clinic at the Montenerva Cup, claiming his sixth straight win in Paldea’s major competitions. No one’s been able to snatch that crown yet!
“If you think you’ve got what it takes, come take me on!” this ice-cold athlete declared from the winner’s podium, and you could just feel his rivals steel their resolve. We’ll see how things unfold in two weeks at the Glaseado Mountain Cup!
Sweet Truth!
This tasty pastry wonder is undergoing a popularity sugar rush that’s got lines put the door all day long! It’s Patisserie Soapberry, located in Cortondo- olive central- at the foot of a very large tree!
At the heart of it all is Katy, the proprietor, who inherited the shop from family and keeps its ovens hard at work! Soapberry’s Bug-type Pokemon theme is on full display in its pastry lineup- they’re a treat to see and to eat!
The Musician’s Register
Four decades into her career, Ryme- the “MC of RIP,” whose flows are said to bring the dead to their feet- maintains her huge following and her rap legend status. The theme of death pervades her work- and not just because her bars slay.
When Ryme was in her teens, her dear Puppy Pokemon passed away, and she poured her grief into a song. When she sang it, her partner came back to her as a ghost Pokemon. In that moment, the rapper we know today was born.
Top Floor, Left Side
Galar: A History
We made for the town Stow-on-Side, which sits tucked away in the mountains, to study an ancient mural painted upon a wall of rock. But out plans - and the mural itself - were shattered by an attack from a Copperajah!
Yet behind the mural, what should we find but a pair of Pokemon statues- one bearing a sword, the other a shield! These statues, older than any artifact we’d yet discovered, called into question everything we know about the legendary hero.
Of People and Pokemon
Far in the past, humankind and Pokemon lived in mutual fear of one another. But some humans who loved and appreciated Pokemon made an effort to bridge this divide, and gradually the two sides grew closer and found harmony.
Top Floor, Center
Fine Foods from Far Away
Have you chanced upon Pewter Crunchies, the fabled signature dish of the Kanto region’s Pewter City? These snacks’ rugged, browned appearance makes rhem almost rock-like at first glance.
Indeed, Pewter Crunchies were inspired by the Rock-type Pokemon for which Pewter Gym is renowned. Unfortunately, their forbiddingly tough appearance and surprisingly thin flavor have kept them from attaining true popularity.
Top Floor, Right Side
Charcadet’s Adventures
Charcadet, the Fire Child Pokemon, may have been little, but did that stop it from being a mighty hero? Not one bit! When a mean Gengar came along to play tricks and scare people, Charcadet stood tall! “Raaah! Hi-YAH! it cried!
But soon, brave little Charcadet got bound up tight in Gengar’s looong tongue! How could the Fire Child Pokemon get out of this mess? Just as things started to grow hazy before Charcadet’s eyes, the sound of a voice came…
“Two paths lie before you, young Charcadet,” it said. “Choose between these two sets of armoe and assume a new form so you can defeat Gengar!” And sure enough, two sets of armor appeared before Charcadet… (To be continued)

Nine people you'd like to know better
tagged by @yansurnummu thank you so so much!
3 ships
Lets goooooo, starting off with one that lives rent free in my head is Yera/Teldryn.
I forgot when but I didn't immediately get interested in Teldryn even after the Dragonborn DLC came out. It was a fic that had him as a side character that got me interested, then I started looking up other Ao3 fics with him in it and it's all I think about when daydreaming about Yera.
Yera by the time she gets to Solstheim has already gone through two world ending events and is super tired and ready to kick this Miraak character's ass and isn't with her friend Lydia at the moment so she needs to hire a mercenary to guide her around on account she is blind and uh oh. Good with a sword with a handsome voice? Basically got a crush on him second 1 and it's downhill from there.
Working on like an intro fic for the two of them but I can never seem to get it right but it'll get there one day.
Next is Yera/Miraak funnily enough, I am not alone in wanting that old book man. I just think that with Yera's incredibly strong personality and also probably kicking his ass while saving him would mesh well with him. I also have the thought that if Yera hung around Miraak long enough, he would convince her of taking the Rudy Throne on the base that they both are Dragon soul so they ought to rule everything.
But what if Yera had two hands, and she held hands with Teldryn and Miraak in the same house wouldn't that be wild haha... unless?
And my last ship is silly, but only because I recently re-watched Full Metal Alchemist but it's Miles/Olivier Armstrong. I love the Briggs portion of the show so much, I usually start there when I want a quick rewatch of the show. I just think they're neat, and people write some fun fics about them together so I'm having a lot of fun going through them and yeah.
First ship Had to be my oc/canon pairing Lexen/Riku from Kingdom Hearts. Lexen is my oldest most precious OC who has gone through some drastic changes in life that she is unrecognizable in the beginning and I'm almost embarrassed by the ship but I was like 14 and Riku was edgy and that's the kind of characters I liked so I could never exist haha
Last song 6.24 by Danger (Furi OST) I heard this song being used as a fight montage song and I had to find the original and welp I'm listening to a bunch of synth songs now
Currently reading Nothing at the moment, however my partner has the Elric of Melnibone series I got them for Christmas and they're done with them now, so it's my turn to read them!
Last film Me and my partner went to watch Godzilla Minus One and omfg that was so so scary a movie but also how do you have a monster film be also about survivors guild its so so good I highly recommend watching it as soon as you can!
Currently craving
We have so many noodles in the house right now but I was craving some instant noodles something fierce a few minutes ago. I opted to go with some pico de gallo I made as a before bed snack but the noodles... they call for me in my dreams
Tagging @icicleteeth @scalecallerpeak @khajiitclaws and whoever else wants to join in

Book Suggestions?
As I recently noted I'm re-re-re-reading the Earthsea books (I'll finally get beyond the second one this time!) and while I'm in the midst of it I'm also-
Hey, just taking a step back here for a moment: I'm reading for pleasure again! Like I haven't since I was in my 20s! Holy crap! I won't go into all of it but honestly over the last 15-ish years or so I think I never really gave myself the kind of mental downtime for books that I gave to television and movies, so now I'm taking mental breaks, meditating, doing yoga, journaling, etc, and that means that I can have non-screen time with actual books without quickly falling asleep. Fucking awesome. Loving it. Anyway,
I'm also looking forward to more new stories and I think I like the Earthsea books enough to want more of the same. Any suggestions?
*psst, Chris, what does that mean? more of the same? what does that mean to you?*
Oh, right. Um. Hmm.
How about this: although he's on a hero's journey the story of Ged (again, at least through the first two novels) is of a boy on the hero's journey, focusing largely on his own self discovery and the actions he must take in his world, with what understanding and experiences he has, to navigate his life as well as he can and eventually to not only do so without causing harm or disturbing the equilibrium of all things but possibly right some wrongs and help people here and there where he can. It's a magical world where technology doesn't seem to have gotten any farther than discovering that magnets exist; in other words it's about as advanced as the European Middle Ages, like most Western-oriented fantasy books. And while there are dragons and kings and armies they're really not the focus of the book. Any suggestions?
*good, but can you possibly boil that down any further?*
FINE
Hero's journey (optional but likely unavoidable)
Self-discovery & new connections
Earthy & magical
A time of herbs and leather; candles and crops; everyone is still more or less subject to seasons and the wild world at large
Maybe there's nothing else quite like what I'm looking-
Have you tried 'The Lord Of The Rings?'
Yes yes, shut up, go away. I have and I'm done with it, okay? We all don't always need to go back to the godfather of it all in his overflowingness to get a bit, a crumb, a taste of what we like or are looking for. Like Ursula K. Le Guin there are other authors and other stories, and we can read and appreciate them as well. Speaking of which, no TERF authors, either. You know who I mean, but also no known bigots, thank you.
And I'm well aware of the Discworld books ('Small Gods' is one of my favorite books of all time) but I've barely delved into it, and I might be looking for something less humorous, but I'm not against any suggestions from that series!
And if it's YA...I guess I'm not against it but I'm not really into teen romance? As a middle aged man? You know?
And as it is I've already got a lot that I've saved from my searches here and there and from Amazon specifically (yes, I know they're the devil, but they kinda still do this book thing):
Tumblr media
But I also like direct suggestions.
Anyway, my long ramble-y post is intended to entertain you enough to make a suggestion if you've come this far. And even if you don't have a suggestion maybe you've been lightly entertained along the way, because I'm kinda starting out without a compass and I know you nerds have one or two or 500 books up your sleeves. And nothing has to conform to exactly what I'm looking for; it's just what I've enjoyed so far.
And thank you!

“Have I told you lately that I love you?”
Dylan and Dana exchanged glances as Reva slumped into a seat at their library table.
“What do you want?”
“Can’t I express my affection for my two favourite people in this world without there being an ulterior motive to it?” Reva pursed her lips innocently. “But since you’re asking… you’re friends with Phil, aren’t you?”
“Here we go,” Dylan muttered while Dana raised her eyebrows.
“So are you.”
“But Dylan is really, really good friends with him. And you…” Reva shrugged. “You’re friends with everyone.”
“Spit it out,” said Dylan, already rubbing his eyes in exasperation. “What have you done?”
“So there’s this thing Phil has been getting excited about. You know, this Christmas thing,” Reva waved her hand impatiently. “It was supposed to be some Secret Santa event, or something, for all the Quidditch teams together. As if I wanted to exchange gifts with a Slytherin,” she added with a snort.
“According to Scarlett, you’ve been exchanging a little more than gifts with one recently,” muttered Dana, quickly falling silent when Dylan raised his brows at her.
“Anyway,” Reva hurriedly continued, “Robin and I got curious about what he had in store, so we nicked his list with names from him. We sat and read it in the changing room after practice, but Rory ran off with some Ravenclaw girl and we wanted to see who it was, so…”
“Let me guess,” Dylan sighed deeply. “You forgot the list and someone from another team found it. Does Phil know about this?”
As if to answer his question, the doors to the library burst open and in stormed Phil Baker. He headed straight for Dylan’s and Dana’s table, leaving Reva just enough time to jump behind an adjacent shelf.
“Where is she?” Phil called out, his face screaming murder. “I know you know where she is.”
“If you mean Reva -” Dylan began but stopped himself when Dana kicked him underneath the table.
“We haven’t seen Reva all day,” Dana said sweetly. “Is anything the matter?”
“She went and ninja-looted my Christmas surprise. Looted, I tell you! It’s the worst breach of GTCs ever! She’s a grinch, is Reva. A grinch who stole my Christmas!”
“That’s awful,” Dana said, her eyes expressing sympathy. “Have you checked with Zadie?”
Phil blinked. “Uhm, no, I haven’t.”
“Chances are good that she’s with her.”
“Will you send me a notif if she spawns in the meantime?”
“Uh, sure thing, will do.”
When Phil had gone, Reva emerged from her hiding place, grinning broadly. “Perfect acting, Dana. Thanks.”
Dana didn’t seem to share Reva’s good mood. She crossed her arms in front of her chest. “How do you plan to sort this mess?”
Reva shuffled her feet. “I was hoping that -”
“No,” Dylan immediately said.
“But -”
“He is right,” said Dana. “You can’t just ruin Phil’s hard work and then expect us to clean up after you.”
“Robin and I never meant to ruin it!”
“You shouldn’t have tinkered with it, then.”
“That’s unfair!”
“Miss Amari,” came the voice of Madam Pince as she passed their table with a stack of books floating behind her, “this is a place for studying, not shouting.”
“Madam Pince? Is that someone reading the notebook on your desk?”
The old librarian paled and rushed back to where she had come from. When she found her desk to be deserted, she turned to Reva with a glare.
“Five points from Gryffindor!”
“You mustn’t shout, Madam Pince. This is a place for studying.” Reva turned to Dana with a frown. “She can’t actually deduct house points, can she?”
“No, but I can, and will if you don’t learn to behave yourself,” Dana replied darkly. “You keep riling people up for fun and expect there to be no consequences.” She purposefully looked back down at her book. “You’ll have to find out how to make things up to Phil alone.”
“And how am I supposed to do that?”
“I don’t know. How about you apologise for a start?”
Reva snorted. “He’d obliterate me where I stand.”
“Then do something nice for him first.”
“What did you have in mind?”
“Reva…”
“No, I’m serious. What does someone like Phil enjoy?”
“He enjoys a lot of things.”
“Like?”
“Like…” Dana frowned. “Yeah, like what?”
The eyes of both girls went to Dylan. He sighed. “He’s been into something called Mario’s Cars lately.”
“Mario’s Cars? What’s Mario’s Cars?”
“And who is Mario?”
Dylan shrugged. “Do I look like I know?”
“And how do I find out now?” The look in Reva’s eyes was pleading as she turned back to Dana. “I know what cars are, but not who this Mario bloke is and what makes his cars so special.”
Despite herself, Dana tapped her pursed lips with her finger. “Scarlett might know.”
Dylan looked sceptical. “Why would she?”
“Well, because… oh, never mind,” Dana hurried to reply, colour rising to her cheeks. “I’ll go and see what she thinks. Maybe she can wiggle something out of Phil. Information, I mean,” she added hastily, slamming her book shut and leaving with a burning red face.
***
It took Dana a lot of coaxing, prodding, and the promise to sneak some of her mother’s modified Pepper-Up Potions against hangovers back to school, but eventually, Scarlett had agreed to help them.
Reva’s eyebrows rose higher and higher when Scarlett provided her with a detailed explanation of what she had pieced together from Phil’s ramblings, but her confusion soon turned into determination.
Cars, obstacles, and throwing stuff at other people? That was something she could work with.
Shortly before their Christmas break, Reva’s surprise for Phil was finally ready. Barely able to hide her excitement, she waited for him by the entrance of the Great Hall, bobbing up and down with impatience.
“You really think this is a good idea?” her best friend Zadie asked for the fourth time. “I’m not sure about this, Reva.”
“Don’t be such a Diricrawl, Zadie,” Robin rolled her eyes. “This is going to be great.”
“Exactly,” Reva agreed, craning her head to see where Rory and Lachlan were eating with Phil. “I don’t see what could possibly go wrong.”
“If you’re asking like this,” Victoire Weasley, the fourth girl waiting by the door with them, began, but she was immediately hushed when the three boys rose from the Gryffindor table.
“They’re coming. Get into position.”
The four girls hopped behind the suits of armour flanking the double doors. As soon as Rory, Lachlan and Phil came into view, Reva and Robin jumped from their hiding places. Robin, who was almost the same height as Phil, pulled a bag over his head while Reva slung her arms around his midsection to keep him from fighting.
“This is an abduction,” she laughed, holding on tighter as Phil tried to break free. “You will now be escorted to your Christmas surprise.”
“What has glitched in your head?” came Phil’s muffled voice from underneath the bag. “Did you sleep through patch day, or what?”
All Reva had to spare him was a giggle as they marched the incapacitated Phil to a side entrance. After a short but stumbly walk across the frozen grounds, Reva undid the knot on the drawstring securing the bag on Phil’s head.
“Three, two, one… Merry Christmas!”
Her shout was repeated by several voices as the bag was pulled away and Phil blinked into the sunlight.
“What in the name of Oblivion is this?”
“This,” Reva said proudly, “is a racing course.”
She gestured at the curvy trail they had set up on the grass, its winding bends and loops stretching over the terrain before them. Parts of the course were laid out with wooden tiles with arrows painted on them, as well as little bumps and sconces. Right in front of them, a black-and-white chequered line ran across the ground. A wild assortment of vehicles had been set up there - tiny cars that looked like they were meant for Muggle children; small bikes with or without passenger seats; and two skateboards that could only belong to Dylan and Reva.
“How do you like it?”
“Intelligence boost dispelled, stat drop to 40 %,” was all Phil could stutter as he took in the scene. “What is this?”
“This is my apology -”
“Our apology!” Robin called from the refreshment table.
“- our apology for ruining your Secret Santa game. Look,” Reva said and pulled Phil by the elbow, “we have the cars and the race track, and we even got the bananas and the fake turtle shells, even though I don’t know what they have to do with everything. I wanted to make some farb bombs, too, but Dana said no.”
“I don’t understand.”
“No, me neither. They would have been the cherry on top.”
“That’s not what I mean,” Phil shook his head.
“Well, Dylan said you liked Mario’s Cars. We wanted to do something nice for you, so here we are.”
A look of understanding formed on Phil’s face. “Do you perhaps mean Mario Kart?”
“That’s what I said.”
Phil opened his mouth to correct her but was silenced when Scarlett stood next to him, pressing a silver flask into his hand.
“What’s that?”
“For speed.”
Phil sniffed the flask sceptically. “I suppose my chances at rolling energy are about zero.” It was only now that he noticed the costume Scarlett was wearing - green dungarees and a matching hat on her black locks. A bubbly laugh escaped him. “Are you dressing up as Luigi?”
“I’m dressing up as ‘drink this and shut up or else you’re going to regret it’, Baker,” Scarlett hissed, raising the flask to his lips before passing it to Reva and lastly taking a big swig herself. “What now, can we start this thing? It’s time you eat my dust.”
“In a second,” Reva said and rummaged through the pockets of her own costume. “We have the cars, but we still need our Mario.”
Before Phil could object, she had pulled out a big fake moustache and stuck it onto his face. With a flick of her wand, his clothes changed to red dungarees matching Scarlett’s green ones, while Robin pushed a red cap onto his head from behind.
They were about to turn away and claim their vehicles when Phil suddenly cried, “Stop!”
Confused, everybody turned to him. With a broad grin on his face, Phil drew his wand.
“Not without protective measures. Mario Kart is a vicious affair.”
He waved his wand through the air, conjuring big, fluffy pillows that tied themselves to the front and back of every race participant. Almost incapable of moving, Phil waddled to the passenger seat of the bike Scarlett had chosen, picking up a banana and a red turtle shell from the props table on the way.
“Alright, everyone. You have no idea what you’re in for.”
He lowered himself into his seat as best as he could and pulled his hat deeper into his face.
“On my signal. Ready, set… race!”

Ugh, man, I slept okay last night, but I was interrupted by a cramp.
It's so embarrassing to go from horrible, agonizing pain back to feeling compeltely fine in like 30 seconds. Still have a little twinge, it was right on the back of my calf, very odd.
Workin' from home again today. Don't know how much I'm really gonna get done in these last two days before my long vacation. I get 11 days off in a row! All next week, and then monday of the following week for New Years Day.
I've been getting back into Warhammer 40k lately, just a bit. Someone I follow on tumblr (you know who you are :P) got really into it recently, mostly Necrons because of some books (The Infinite and The Divine, I believe). That got me curious, so I looked up what's new. Apparently they're on the TENTH edition now, which is wild. There are a bunch more Imperial factions... and exactly one new Xenos faction (space dwarves are back!).
I was super into Warhammer when I was like 7-10 years old. Not, like, playing the game, obviously, but reading rulebooks and lore and whatnot. I remember I somehow had a Citadel Miniatures Catalogue for like 1997, used to just sit around looking through it. Plus a bunch of issues of White Dwarf, of course. I was way into Chaos Space Marines, I got that codex and absolutely loved it. Had so much cool art and little snippets of fiction.
40k was in its second edition, and I remember with third edition came out and started introducing these wild new plastic model kits. Almost everything was metal back then. That edition change was the first big attempt to simplify the game, as it was wildly complicated before. The vehicle rules were incomprehensible, many units had whole pages of special rules, there were tons of percentile tables to roll on, scatter dice, etc. But third edition slimmed everything down and introduced a lot of suffocating structure to army rules that I didn't like.
Looking at the new rules, it seems like things have swung back in the other direction a bit in the intervening years. Or, at least, they've ended up back there in the latest course correction. Army-building rules are very loose, and all the rules about resolving combat are very simple now. The focus of complexity is on these like... tactical maneuvers, which I still don't quite understand. Seems to works similarly to how magic worked in Warhammer Fantasy back in the day.
Speaking of, I'm still mad that that game is essentially dead. Age of Sigmar is lame. Lame, I say! It seems bizarre that GW decided to kill it when that Total War game was gaining steam, but whatever.
Anyway, I haven't like bought any models, I'm not going crazy. Just bought an Adeptus Mechanicus codex. I like the look of their models, it's really cool that they're finally a proper army faction. Especially the Kastelan Robots, I love the idea that they just... found these ancient, invincible robots and strapped guns to 'em. In 2nd edition, there would definitely be some insane rules where you had to roll to maintain control of them or they'd wander in a random (scatter dice!) direction every turn....

‘Clanlands’: Sam Heughan is the Energizer Bunny to Graham McTavish’s Elder Statesman
'Outlander' star Heughan also talks about the wild journey he went on in getting to New Zealand, and the possibility of Season 3 of 'Men in Kilts.'
BY CHRISTINA RADISH PUBLISHED 9 HOURS AGO
Tumblr media
The Starz series Outlander brought actors and Scotsmen Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish into each other’s lives, making them co-stars, friends, and travel partners. Since then, the duo have joined forces for another TV series, Men in Kilts, through which they go on epic adventures while immersing themselves in the landscape, history, and food and drink, first in Scotland for Season 1 and then in New Zealand for Season 2. And then, after they survive their time together in their camper van, they revisit it all for a companion book, which this time is called Clanlands in New Zealand: Kiwis, Kilts, and an Adventure Down Under.
Collider recently got the opportunity to chat 1-on-1 with Heughan about his experiences with McTavish, which are often adrenaline-fueled for him while anxiety-ridden for his travel companion. During the interview, he talked about how fortuitous their meeting was, deciding to do Men In Kilts while sharing a beer together, working in unison for the books (both print and audio), the incredible opportunities Outlander has given him, why doing non-scripted work was initially terrifying for him, how COVID almost derailed the season, letting McTavish take the reins for their time together in New Zealand, being more nervous than he lets on, and why everyone should write their own memoir when they go on holiday.
Collider: I love the Men in Kilts TV show. I love these companion Clanlands books. You and Graham McTavish are great at making everybody feel like they’re there with you, and it’s so much fun to watch and to read your experiences.
SAM HEUGHAN: Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. Yeah, it was such fun to write. It’s yet another romping, roving adventure.
Tumblr media
You and Graham did Outlander together, you’ve done two seasons of Men in Kilts, and you have these books. Did you have any idea when you guys met that your partnership would be so successful? It’s one thing to be co-stars, it’s another thing to be friends, and it’s yet another thing to do all of this stuff together. Did you have a sense that you would develop a friendship like the one that you have?
HEUGHAN: No, I don’t think so. You never know who you’re going to get on with. It’s incredible. I think we have similar humor, but I think everyone on the set of Outlander did, and we all got on very well. It was almost fortuitous. I was looking to create a TV show and was talking to Graham about it, over a beer in Santa Monica. He also talked about a desire to do that. So, I thought, “Let’s just do this.” It really was the catalyst of, “Why not? I’ve got all the contacts here. We’ve got the locations. Let’s just give it a go.” The book series, as well, was something that I was toying with, at the time. I spoke to the publisher and they jumped at the chance. It’s been great. Even finding the voices in the dialogue that we had in the books was something that came out of COVID. It was us writing in unison on the same online document. I think that banter is something that we’ve captured, not only in the TV show, but in the books. We lean into it even more in the books, and especially the audiobook. It’s great. It goes back to having the same sense of humor and having a shared experience, as well.
In your dreams of being an actor, had you ever envisioned yourself traveling the world in kilts and making award-winning alcohol? Do you find any of these ventures particularly surprising? Are there people in your life that think you’re just absolutely mad, or would they all be like, “Nope, that totally tracks with what we know of Sam”?
HEUGHAN: God, I don’t know what people would say. They’d be surprised, maybe. I don’t know. Being an actor was never about being an entrepreneur, but Outlander has given me these opportunities. It’s made me realize some of the things I love about Scotland and it’s opened doors to opportunities. It’s made me realize, as a businessman, as an entrepreneur, and as a creative, I have different outlets and different ways that I can express myself. Perhaps it’s blind ignorance or stupidity, but it’s like, “Well, let’s give this a go and see what happens.” So far, touch wood, it’s working out. Maybe it is a naive innocence that I approach things with, and maybe that’s the relationship with Graham, as well. He’s the more elderly statesman, the experienced one, and I play the role of this Energizer bunny.
Do you always want to make sure it stays fun and doesn’t just become something you have to think about for business reasons? Whether it’s the show and the books, or even doing the different alcohol, do you make an effort to keep that balance between fun and business?
HEUGHAN: Yeah. I would say all these things are things I’m just so passionate about, whether it’s the spirits business that I’m in, or even the My Peak Challenge, or going on these adventures. It really is an extension of who I am. I haven’t ever branched out beyond the boundaries of what I enjoy, and I’m very lucky that people do enjoy, or seem to enjoy, our adventures. It would be interesting to do something that’s outside my comfort zone. It’s never about business, per se. It’s certainly not about making money. For me, it’s about sharing what I love and what I’m passionate about, and if people enjoy it, that’s the end goal.
Tumblr media
Do you ever feel bad for tormenting Graham, or is there just too much joy in it?
HEUGHAN: Oh, it’s absolute joy. I put together the pilot schedule and amongst that were a couple of things that I thought he would be happy with. There was kayaking, there was going on chairlifts, and we were doing Highland games. I saw that he was reserved in doing that and I’d known that from being on set, as well. So, when we then went to shoot the first season for Men in Kilts, I was like, “I have to put in, as much as possible, things that are going to challenge him.” I think Kilt Rock and him abseiling was the big one, and it made such great viewing for me, personally. I enjoy it. I love it. It just gives me so much satisfaction to put him in precarious situations. And then, New Zealand was a no-brainer. It’s the home of adrenaline country. And I’ll give his dues, he agreed to a couple of things that he then pulled out of, but he agreed in prep to do them. It’s just so fun. I love tormenting him, and there’s still a long way to go.
Do you feel like you let him get away with things that you might not otherwise let him get away with, if you weren’t also participating in tormenting him as you do?
HEUGHAN: I don’t really know if he gets away with anything. He’s a bit lazy. He doesn’t do any driving. He doesn’t really pull his weight in any of those areas. But it means that I’m in control. It means that I have him almost in captivity, really. He has no say in the matter. I pretend that I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s actually all been preplanned and is just an excuse to get him to the highest point, and then push him off.
The work that you do on Outlander is often very physical. Do you find it more challenging to pull off the physical work that you do within the confines of a set and a production like that, or is it more challenging to do these real-life adventures that you participate in, either on your own or with Graham?
HEUGHAN: That’s a good question. I wouldn’t say physically it’s any different, but I actually became an actor to not be myself. I don’t enjoy being myself in front of people. I haven’t found it easy, over the years, but it’s something I’ve learned to do. So, presenting or doing non-scripted for me was terrifying. I really didn’t know if we could do it. We assume these characters. There is a lot of truth to it, but it is a character play between the two of us. That’s the most terrifying, or writing a book, or making a spirit. It’s like, “Well, this is what I like,” and God, it’s so nerve-wracking. Those have been the big ones for me, releasing the gin and the whiskey, which are really expressions of my home and where I’m from and what I love. It’s like, “God, are people gonna like this, or are they gonna pour it down the gutter, and essentially pour me down the gutter, as well?” It is much more challenging, in some ways.
Tumblr media
It feels like something was testing you on your journey to even have this experience. You had to give up Christmas with your family to travel to New Zealand only to find yourself with COVID and quarantined. It just all sounds like a crazy story that you couldn’t make up, if you’d tried. When something like that happens, do you worry about what will not only happen to the series, but also then the book?
HEUGHAN: Yeah. Honestly, I wanted the whole thing to be longer. Actually reading the book now, it was very long and arduous before we even get to the adventure, but that was the situation. Around the world, COVID put up many barriers and we were lucky to even have the opportunity. At the time we chose New Zealand, it was free and easy and we were like, “Oh, this is the place to go.” And of course, then I got COVID, I had an accident, and then we were in the lottery system. Landing in quarantine, I was still happy and carefree until I was put into my cell, and I honestly didn’t think I could do it. There were a couple of days there where I thought, “I’m gonna have to pull out.” I knew we had a TV show and a book series, and I was like, “What are we gonna write about in the book series, if I don’t last?” So, there was a pressure on us. But as soon as we got over that hurdle, which was a very big one, we didn’t hold back and had an amazing time. We were lucky. Starz was very supportive in trying to get the TV show made. It was a really tricky process. And the publisher, as well, helped guide us into another book. Everyone was very flexible because our schedules are always changing, Graham and I. It’s hard sometimes to nail everything down. But it’s been great. It’s been a real challenge, but a really rewarding one.
Prior to doing this, what was it about New Zealand that made you want to visit there, and what was it like to do so alongside Graham? How did he guide things, as somebody who is experienced with living there?
HEUGHAN: Season 1 was very much guided, I think, by myself because I had feet on the ground and I knew a lot of the guests and a lot of the locations. And Graham had a good say because he has experience there. But when we finally decided on New Zealand, it was like, “Okay, we’ll let him take the reins here because it’s his home.” It’s fantastic to have this yin and yang, and have these two sides. He really gave us insight, and we met a lot of his friends there. He’s also a great historian. He loves really leaning into that, which I think is really interesting and gives a slightly different view than maybe other travel books or travel writing. We went all over. At first, we were gonna do another Men in Kilts in Scotland, looking at the islands and the Highlands. And then, we were also thinking about Scandinavia. I was really interested in that. And at some point, it was gonna be Men in Kilts in Boats because I really wanted to do everything by boat. But we were struggling with the season. The only time we could shoot would be winter and that’s challenging because we knew that the weather would be bad. The thought of going to New Zealand in the height of summer, where there was no COVID, was a no-brainer. And of course, there’s the Scottish connection, as well. It all fell in place when we realized that it was definitely a natural progression.
It seems like you’re game for just about anything when it comes to adventure. Do you ever question yourself, or is it mostly just Graham that does the questioning?
HEUGHAN: That’s a good question. Honestly, I think I’m game, but I’m actually probably a lot more nervous than I let on. It’s because of his complete fear that makes me more brave. For instance, in the book, we talk about going zip-lining and it was this enormous cliff. I was keeping him distracted the whole time going up, trying not to let him see over the edge. And then, he went first and when I saw over the edge, I got nervous for myself, not for him. I didn’t really care what happened to him, but I was terrified. It makes me braver, when I see how scared he is. There are a great many things that I’m nervous about. The helicopter, for me, was one. I’m not that comfortable in a helicopter, but I could never let him know that.

You do the series, you do the companion book, you do the audiobook, and then you do interviews with people like me to talk about it all. As you relive the experiences, do you get a different appreciation for what you were able to do? Are you able to fully appreciate it while you’re there and in the moment, or does it help to be able to look back on it all?
HEUGHAN: Actually, the book series has been so fun to write. Like all of us, if you go traveling or you’re on holiday, and you have great experiences and you take photos, you tell people, but that’s about the full extent of reliving it or thinking about this amazing time that you had. But for us, getting to go back over the experience we had and to relive it and write about it, you remember small details. Reliving it has just been so rewarding. Writing the books has been a great way to reflect on our experiences. I would suggest to everyone, the next time you go on holiday, write a little memoir about it.
Is there another location that you have in mind? Are you already trying to plan out a Season 3?
HEUGHAN: Yeah, we do have a particular location in mind and we’ve talked at great lengths about it. Obviously, it will come down to timing and schedules. He’s still alive, so there’s still time.

Well, well, that's what we thought. SH had a sudden thought and finally confirmed it. He got COVID-19 and had no choice but to quarantine in Los Angeles before Christmas.
His plans changed, “A Dram with Sam” didn't happen but that didn't mean his flight to New Zealand was cancelled. He showed a lack of common sense those days and when he arrived in New Zealand in January 2022, a new subvariant of the virus, Omicron, was circulating🤷‍♀️

Tag 9 people you want to get to know better
I was tagged by @kissporsche 💕💕 which made me really happy because a few months ago they initiated a conversation with me and I was too much of an introvert to keep it going, so I had thought then that I had lost my chance at friendship forever 🥲
Three Ships
The (un)holy trinity: Hannigram (from Hannibal), Jongmoon (from Strangers From Hell) and VegasPete (from KinnPorsche).
First Ever Ship
It's hard to pinpoint the exact pair... Hmm... I'll tell you about the first one I remember being obsessed about, as in reading all the fics available about them-obsessed. I was eleven? Twelve? Anyway. That would be Cato and Clove, from The Hunger Games. They were not canon in the book (or the movie! They were done SO dirty in the movie!!! I CAN'T EVEN FIND A GIF OF THEM TOGETHER TO INCLUDE HERE 😤), there were just one (or two?) moments that could be interpreted like that, if you had a wild imagination 😅 Fortunately, at that time, me, and a bunch of other kids who enjoyed the tragedy of it all, read too much into it.
So, while everyone else was discussing the love triangle of the main characters or shipping themselves with Finnick Odair, we were in a dark corner crying and throwing up because of two kids who were raised to become killing machines—the star-crossed lovers from District 2, as we liked to call them.
Last Song
youtube
Keep Asking Me, by Francis Well. It has a feeling similar to Little House On The Hill, so I think of them as sisters.
Last Movie
Cherry Magic: The Movie. I had already forgotten the gifsets I had seen about it, months ago, so everything was a surprise.
[spoiler alert] My favorites scenes were the ones of Adachi and Kurosawa meeting each other's families, even though it seemed like my heart was going to jump out of my chest in both occasions 😀
Currently Reading
Making my way through the PrapaiSky tag on AO3 (meaning I'm reading literally anything and everything that sounds slightly interesting).
Currently Watching
1. GAP. I haven't watched the most recent episode yet, but it seems we're reaching the climax of the story. I'm already dreading the moment I'll have to let go of all my girls (+ Mon's step-father) :(
2. Star & Sky Series. I've finished Star in My Mind, and I'll start Sky in Your Heart (which is the part two? the spin-off?) soon (allegedly. Never trust a 'soon' coming from me).
3. TharnType. Only a few more episodes to go. Absolutely bonkers show.
4. Summer Strike. The healing type that I had been saving for when I needed it most.
5. Beyond Evil. I had been saying for a long time that I was going to rewatch BE, but never got around to do it (16 episodes! Who has the time!!). My brother was browsing Netflix looking for something for us to watch together, and suggested BE. I thought he was joking (he has already rewatched it 5 or 6 times by himself 🙃), so I agreed, also joking. Turns out, he wasn't joking 😀😀 So now we're watching it again (*in my first time, I watched it with him as well). It's been a really different experience, watching it from the perspective of someone who knows what they should be paying attention to (I wish I had forgotten the details so I could enjoy the unpredictable mystery again, but it seems I still remember most of it 😅) .
Currently Consuming
Crackers.
Currently Craving
Eight (or more) hours of sleep. No waking up because of freezing temperatures, bad dreams, or the men working on a new floor for my neighbour's house in the early hours of the morning.
... I haven't had one of those in a while 😞
Tagging
Since it's people I'd like to get to know better, I'll tag the blogs I started following more recently: @saturnskyline @leporschespam @ronandhermy @teakrush @stillqueerstillhere (it's absolutely okay to ignore this, though 😊✌)
**If there aren't 9 it's because I'm bad at math.

Ooh it's cool that you got to see Bea at Lolla or Maisie and whoever else! If anything, concerts have gotten more expensive than they used to be for me so there have been some I had to pass on too. I have been meaning to listen to the Japanese House album for a while and will soon. I've listened to most of the artists you named and will add the rest to my list too.
Oh I didn't know the Waitress proshot had come out already. Maybe I will check it out. I remember hearing about the Roman Holiday musical but it never went to Broadway or anything so I didn't know too much about it. I just heard the Notebook musical is coming to Broadway in spring so hopefully they've improved it. Those are also such good examples of movies into musicals. I do agree about the cash grabs and like just coming out with or rushing more musicals each year or just making everything a musical just because.
I honestly didn't know what to think of it cuz I didn't even hear about it until recently. I do agree he seemed a little old for her though..I wonder how he will pull off the part. But it at least has potential with the actors since I like them. I actually didn't know there was going to be two..but I remember hearing that Florence Welch was working on the music I think? Or is that the same thing? It could be cool and kinda reminds me of the same vibes as The Wild Party. I never actually read the book..but I remember liking the movie and how glam it was..so the sets could be similar..or have potential. The music might be similar to an older 50s musical or idk. Maybe it would be similar to Moulin Rouge too. I would be pretty excited for it though anyway I think! I would love to hear more about there being two versions too since I didn't know that.
i was telling one of my best friends that it's very unlikely i'll do another music festival soon (although that same friend wants to do a music festival at some point, so i'll probably go with her just so she has someone to go with) because while i had a blast seeing so many people (and was able to justify the cost that way), it was just ... too peopley and too hot etc etc. for my liking! but i love her, and i'll do anything for her, including braving crowds and the heat again haha. glad i did it though, just for the sake of having done one, and for seeing that many people i wouldn't have gotten to see otherwise! and i actually haven't really been a big concert person up until this year, but that's what i've been hearing, unfortunately :( and eeee! i hope you like them!! i'd love to hear your thoughts on their music later 🤍 roman holiday is one of my favorite, favorite movies of all time, so i was super excited for the musical and as much as i love it, it is definitely not broadway ready (and i don't think it ever will be, unless they do an original score). and yes!! here's hoping they reworked the notebook so it's stronger! it's been about a year since it did the tryout, so plenty of time to have worked on it! yes! so there's the gatsby musical by kait kerrigan, jason howland and nathan tysen that's premiering at paper mill playhouse — you might know of kerrigan from kerrigan-lowdermilk (sam brown/the mad ones), howland from little women, and tysen from amelie and tuck everlasting — and that's the one that jerjor and eva are in! i love mad ones (and just kerrigan-lowdermilk's songs in general), and really enjoyed little women, amelie and tuck, so i'm really excited to see what becomes of it! and then the one that florence welch is involved with is the one premiering at the ART in boston! i am just so so excited to see what happens with both, and i think there are a lot of directions they could go in! not to mention, the set and staging — i'm thinking of how they can play with lighting (green light) already and i am just soooo excited. and i just thought of wildhorn & murphy's scott & zelda musical that drew gehling and laura michelle kelly sang songs from too (i have/had audio ... somewhere, i think, and i remember liking what i listened to, but might've lost it when i switched computers). there's so much to play with, and i just think it's really exciting! and now i want to do a gatsby reread!!

March - 2023
Games
Spiritfarer- I played the phone Netflix version over quite a long time but we recently canceled Netflix so I felt compelled to try finishing it. I didn’t but I got close. It is a very charming game and most of my complains would be nitpicky so I’ll just skip them.
Deep rock galactic- started playing it again with my brother and his friends, it is a good game, it has a nice gameplay loop, distinct style, and the world generation ain’t bad. Tried playing it alone when they were busy and I think that’s mind numbing.
Little nightmares- honestly disappointing. It wasn’t bad I just wish it was better. I really feel like it’s style over substance but at the same time tried to make you think there is substance. Every time I got stuck it wasn’t the fun kind of figuring out a puzzle stuck but more of a I have no idea what I’m doing wrong stuck. Still nice, heard it gets better in the sequels.
Minit- wonderful game, loved it. I just know speedruns of this game would look wild and I need to check them out.
The darkness 2- I had this game in my steam library for some reason, probably got it for free at some point. The only reason I gave it a go is because that was the topic of the something rotten podcast this month and I wanted to play along. Must be lucky that I choose the only game this far that seemed actually fun. The game has a lot of style and I’m surprised there aren’t any modem games that take inspiration from it. It does end in a note that clearly says that they thought there would be a sequel, which didn’t happen. Do I wish it was written better? Maybe. Do I wish the characters from the co op campaign weren’t racist stereotypes? Yes.
Rain world- last month I said I might get it some point and I did, the world wants me dead and I fucking love slugcats so much. Wonderful game wish I died a bit less.
Sludge life- I was bored when I down loaded this, it has loads of style which I appreciate, played till I’ve gotten an ending then played a bit more and got bored. Nice game to mess around it for a few hours.
It takes two- I started playing this with a friend. The thing about this game that it’s beautiful, the mechanic are wonderful and it feels great to play, there is a lot of talent that went into this game. But man I wish the story didn’t exist. A story about divorce has potential but this ain’t it. I hate the racist book and his bright pink eyebrows, I hate both main characters they are just genuinely bad people and I wish they would stop talking. The separate parts of the game are wonderful it’s just what sticks them together that is unbearable.
Shows
The last of us- it was done and I love it and I am patiently awaiting next season. Nothing to say that hasn’t been said before me.
Ted lasso- hell yeah it’s finally back I missed him so much.
Comics
My lesbian experience with loneliness- this effected me so hard in a way I can’t explain nor will I ever share with anyone online.
Fence- Started it on a whim, love it so much that I got upset learning it is an ongoing series and not a complete one. Ahhhhh.
Check, please!- I know it’s popular and I kinda started and abandoned it years ago, after reading fence I wanted more queer sports comics and it came to mind, it is cute, maybe too cute for my taste but I can see why it has such a name.
Books
חופש מוחלט (A liberdade total) -Pablo Katchadjian
I’ve read this in Hebrew and cannot find it in English, I thought it was entertaining and weird and absurd and I really like the absurd.
I feel like I must have forgotten something in this list but alas.

Tag 9people you want to get to know better
I was tagged by @words-to-accomplish-something (this is my first tag game in years- i'm honored)
Three Ships
Kinda hard because I honestly don't ship people too terribly hard tbh. So pairings I like a lot
1. Winry and Edward FMAB - I think they're neat
2. Marinette and Adrien MLB- My ultimate romance is two idiots in a room together and this one I get to see that With secret identities. Chefs kiss
3. Renesha and Cavert Wrong Confession (manhwa) - the only thing better than two idiots in a room is two idiots in a room and one of them is scary. This manhwa takes FIFTY chapters to get to said wrong confession and I ate that shit up.
First Ship Ever
Probably Winry and Ed but I've no clue really
Last Song
...Vore by Sleep Token. That song fucks okay. All their songs fuck
Last Movie
Silence of the lambs! I watched it last night in a historic theater in my town and man was it good. It's my first time seeing it and wow I have thoughts about the directors choices. So we'll done
Currently Reading
The Mothman Prophecies by John A. Keel- I got a mothman tattoo recently and am doing a mini book club with a friend of mine through this wild book

Lots of Comics, Manga, and Movies
Tumblr media
Crossposted from my newletter
Hey folks! I hope you all had a fun Halloween. Thanks everyone who joined my discord and enjoyed werewolf movies with me this October. It went well enough that I'm gonna do a werewolf movie each full moon. Join me November 8th at 5pm PST to watch the 1994 movie Wolf.
Tumblr media
This past month I mostly worked on crowdfunding prep. If you didn't know, I'm in charge of making sure all the pieces of Iron Circus's crowdfunds are ready. And Iron Circus's Smut Peddler Double Header crowdfund is closing out the year on Backerkit's new platform. So there was a lot of last minute changes I had to do. And on top of that, I was typing up the script for a promo video for Iron Circus's next anthology Failure to Launch (which I've also been posting pencil versions of my story's pages on my Patreon). That's gonna crowdfund in February. So it was a bit of a juggle act. I've also finished penciling Murky Water. I will probably finish inking it this or next week. The next City Between story is gonna be about vampires. It still needs a title. There are a few options but I am still thinking it over. Titles are always hard.
Tumblr media
Just last weekend I saw Wendell and Wild, which was fun ride! If you are unfamiliar, it's a stop motion animation coming to Netflix soon. It stars Key and Peele as the titular demons and they are summed by a young girl to resurrect her dead parents. The movie has one or two too many subplots, so the pacing is a little wonky. But it is enjoyable and lovely. Here's the trailer. I'm still doing my usual art streams on my twitch and cohosting the Iron Circus Geekshow. Out of our recent streams, I particularly like this episode where we talk about where the line between sci-fi and fantasy is. Spoiler, the answer is it's based on vibes. Also, Spike and I both really like the game Rimworld. It just got a big update/DLC. Streaming going well has made Spike and I start talking about doing a charity stream on Christmas day. I'll have more updates on that next newsletter. But it should be a fun time.
Tumblr media
As for November, I mentioned I'm gonna finish inking Murky Water. Then I will finish drawing my story for Failure to Launch. With those both done, I can get back to drawing You are the Chosen One. Both can be read on my patreon. Those will be the main highlight of my art streams. Off stream, I'm still editing for Seven Seas. The mangas I've been editing are hitting books stores quicker. There is a very cute queer romance I edited titled I'm Kinda Chubby and I'm Your Hero. If I had to pick one title I'm editing for seven seas to pick up, it would be that one. It's about a chubby actor getting his first fan. Said fan turns out to be a handsome pastry chef. They grow closer and it's very cute. I also got to finish writing my graphic novel with Meredith McClarren this month. So I'll be pretty busy. It's a good thing there aren't any conventions this month or next month. Thanks all for your support each month! Have a good one.
