❤ Navier met Rashta in the garden and though Rashta greeted her informally and inappropriately, something about the concubine made Navier curious about her, as she invited Rashta to have tea with her.

❤ Navier there asked her if she would like to study etiquettes and learn about how to be a lady, to which Rashta hesitantly agree, Navier immediately who would help Rashta with etiquettes, manners, talking skills and more.

❤ Navier would often find Rashta in the garden with a few of her maids who were given to Rashta by the emperor, Navier went to the emperor to ask if he was truly in love with Rashta, to which the emperor got mad and dismissed her…

❤ Navier would still talk with Rashta and send her tiny and tiny gifts to her as a friendship token and allow her to call Navier “sister” even though she hated that word from Rashta’s mouth, not realizing how she was getting obsessed with Rashta…

❤ Soon all the things with Heinry happened, where Navier then asked if he would allow Navier to reveal a few things about herself, Navier then told Heinry about how Navier liked this lady, not revealing it was Rashta, Heinry promised to her wingman.

❤ Navier was absolutely transfixed on Rashta during the ball seeing her dance and even invited her to dance with her later on in the night seeing her look so pretty, she had the urges to kiss her and take her right then and there, but she couldn’t she is an empress. And Rashta is a concubine.

❤ Navier slowly and slowly had some of her maids planted in as Rashta’s maid, who gave Navier every single information about every motion done by Rashta. They were also very much sure to treat Rashta nicely because if a single cut or a single tear from her eye would result in them wishing they would die.

❤ Navier in all honestly would send her gifts and love letters telling her how she was the most beautiful person in this world, the one who would bring happiness to her face, how she should be the one to rule over them with kindness and all that, but would never send it to her.

❤ Whenever Rashta would do classes with her, Navier would be touching her to show her how it’s supposed to be done and how she should be doing it and how a single thing could completely change the meaning of her gesture.

❤ Navier upon kidnapping Rashta and killing everyone who defied her (Sovieshu/ heinrey/Kosair/others) , she’s hellishly touchy and loving to Rashta, doesn’t care that everyone can see her kiss, hug or love the new second empress of the empire…

❤ Navier wouldn’t ever let anyone see Rashta with their eyes, if they look wrongly at her, she will get their eyes gouged out, don’t worry she will never show anything to Rashta, Rashta rarely ever sees anything, she’s lucky if she even gets to go to the garden of the castle or she gets out of her and Navier’s shared room…

❤ Rashta doesn’t usually see many people other than a few chosen maids, who get changed every day, but she doesn’t mind she’s happy to receive so any gifts from her wife, he one who spoils her and her daughter rotten, RimWell are all dead and Ahn is back with her because Rashta tells Navier of her past on their wedding night…

❤ Navier hates when Rashta disobeys her, but nothing one hard slap from Navier to Rashta can’t solve, Navier’s anger does scare everyone including Rashta, who cries herself to sleep those types of night, but always forgives Navier the next day…

❤ Navier is very adamant on the behavior she accepts from people around her, including Rashta, her punishments aren’t too hard, just enough to engrave a lesson on Rashta’s head. Just some slapping, starving and locking up nothing too bloody

❤ Navier will 100% engrave her name in Rashta’s body somewhere, while she’s knocked out as to stop her from whining, crying, wailing and sobbing so loudly, also to slow down the bloodshed from Navier’s side…

🌸Her being there for navier when she is having difficulty with rattrash and sovieshit and calming her down even staying a couple of months in the eastern empire.

👩‍🦯How would everyone react to her slowly dying of her illness but she doesn't care about it she cares more about others than her health and always treats people with respect.

🌸imagine kosiar being her husband and how caring he is about his lovely wife and them already having children because they never know when she dies so her children whoud be there for kosiar when she passes away .

👩‍🦯The children don't have the same illness as their mother so they will have a normal life unlike their mother so kosiar whoud not have to worry about them dying before he does.

🌸How would everyone react to kosiar being a father of twins (spoilers navier get pregnant with twins later in the Nov ) and that the children are absolutely angels like the mother.

Preface: You are a part of the nobility who is loved by all because of your motherly attitude towards everyone. You are married to Kosair, which makes you Navier and Sovieshu’s sister-in-law. Your children, one boy and one girl, are the perfect mixture of you and Kosair.

Sovieshu

He also considered you a ‘motherly’ figure, as you always offered him guidance in both political and personal matters. His earliest memories consist of him leading you through the palace gardens as he told you about problems he was having in his daily lessons. Needless to say, you were very close.

Even when he took on Rashta as a mistress, you gently asked him if he thought that he made the best choice for the Empire. You did not discriminate, even when he made mistakes, and that’s what he appreciated (and no, he did not harbor romantic feelings for you). Even after you were wed to Kosair and had children, the closeness between you two was not severed. He still went to you for advice.

He was originally going to name one of your children the Crowned Heir of the throne if he and Navier did not conceive, but Rashta was pregnant so that threw a wrench in his plans. Still, you harbored no resentment. You even congratulated him on the news (although, you knew that it wasn’t his).

However, he also knew of your sickness. That was mainly why he had to lead you through the gardens, since the illness left you blind. He was aware that you wouldn’t live long, as your family was often cursed. It was typically thought that when you take the last name of another man, your illness would be cured but you chose to keep your last name. Your children had the name of Trovi, though.

When you inevitably passed away, it was the first time that everyone in the Empire gathered together to mourn. Even some people from different Kingdoms and Empires attended the funeral procession. Tears ran down Sovieshu’s face, and he held his wife to comfort her. Your spirit, before ascending, was happy to see that the Emperor and Empress came together for one final time.

Rashta

You were the first person to make her feel welcomed into the palace, and she appreciated it. However, she realized that since you were loved by everyone, both high-ranking and not, ruining your reputation would do good for her because all of the negative attention wouldn’t be on her anymore. Plus, you knew that the baby wasn’t Sovieshu’s. You had told her that you didn’t judge, but she felt threatened.

She invited you for a walk in the garden, and you accepted as long as she would guide you through. An odd request, but she agreed. Within the garden, she led you to the center, where she pushed you to the ground and screamed. A guard heard and went to investigate, only to find you on the ground. Rashta tried to say that you had tried to attack her, but the guard told her that you were blind.

That guard reported it to the Emperor, and he was angry at his mistress for daring to harm his ‘mother’ and try to paint herself as the victim. However, you argued that you weren’t terribly hurt, and maybe just got a bit of a scratch at the most. Thus, the punishment should fit the crime.

Of course, the fact that you were blind caught your attention. So, she asked a servant to bring her to see you, and you gladly accepted her into your chambers. There, you opened the conversation with ‘What is wrong, my child?’ She didn’t know how to beat around the bush, so she directly asked how you became blind. You smiled before giving her a painfully honest answer. It made her tear up a bit, to be honest.

When you passed, she did not attend the funeral procession. She was advised by the Emperor as well as Duke Ergi not to, as the people were still angry at her for hurting you even though that was. However, once you were buried, she placed a single white tulip upon your grave. She has been told that it would be best, as it is a symbol of an apology.

Navier

Since you were her sister-in-law, it was no wonder that you both were very close together. She too seeked out your wise counsel when she went through times of despair. It was a surprise to no one that a lot of the nobility had given you the honorary title of ‘mother to all’. She often leads you through the gardens whenever she is troubled about something, and your conversations always leave her mind at peace.

Your twins were her niece and nephew, and she loved them dearly. They were quiet and kind, just like you, but they weren’t afraid to stand up for the people that they love, just like Kosair. Navier loved it whenever she heard them yell her name and she would kneel down to hug them. She was happy that they did not inherit your disease, as that meant that she would only lose one person that was important to her.

Speaking of your illness, she also knew of it, and she saw how you pushed through it day after day. There were times where you couldn’t get out of bed without major assistance, which did make her uncharacteristically upset. She could tell that your twins and her brother were silently suffering at seeing you sick and weak.

She was definitely angry when she heard that you had been pushed to the ground by the mistress, but she was surprised to see you arguing that you weren’t hurt badly and thus any punishment given to Rashta should be light. But, she was not going to argue against you, as you always knew best.

When you passed away, she stood with her older brother and her niece and nephew as she cried. It was raining that day, and black umbrellas as well as black attire under a sky of rain clouds were all that could be seen. Sovieshu surprised her by wrapping an arm around her shoulder, and she let a few tears fall. She swore that she could feel your spirit next to her.

Every year, for her birthday, the same crows that you trained would come and sing her Happy Birthday.

Heinrey

He had first met you at the ball, and he could see that you were basically like a mother to all of the noble families. So, he chose to get to know you since you were a motherly figure to Navier. Almost immediately, you both were sitting down as you listened to the problems that he was having.

This is where he accidentally lets it slip that he is the bird that keeps visiting Navier, and you smile as you say that you can’t see anything, so you can’t say anything. Heinrey had noticed that you weren’t looking at him throughout the whole conversation, so now he realizes that you are blind. Your husband, Kosair, actually led you everywhere.

During his visit at the palace, your husband brought your children to see Navier, which was the first time that the Prince got to see them as well. From what he could tell, they looked like Kosair but acted like you. They seemed to not have inherited your curse as well.

Unfortunately, he was not informed about your declining health, as it was deemed to be untimely since his brother was on his deathbed as well. So, when he inherited the crown of the Western Kingdom and went to visit Navier, he was wondering where you had gone. Unfortunately, the wound was still fresh when he asked Her Imperial Majesty.

It felt like he actually lost his mother all over again. He mourned, and he did not take the grief well. However, your last words to him were in a letter, and they were to make the Empress happy. So, he would do that to the best of his ability because it’s what you would have wanted.

Kosair

You both first met when you were children. Sure, you both were betrothed to one another considering it was believed that if you got your husband’s last name then you were exempt from the curse, but he still loved you with all his heart. However, for some unknown reason, you stuck with your original name. As sad as it made him, he did not argue against your choice.

The twins that you had given birth to were his entire world aside from you. His daughter and son had him wrapped around their fingers. He never told you this, but he was glad that you chose to give them his name, Trovi, instead of Ubuyashiki. But, you were still suffering from the curse, so he believed that it was his job as your husband to help you.

He loved leading you through the garden that you both had grown because it was a symbol of how you built a life together through the struggles. You loved that he cared about you so much, and it was always a wholesome moment. Eventually, your children would inherit the Manor and the garden, and you hoped that they would continue to help it thrive once you had inevitably passed.

Unfortunately, your health had deteriorated to the point where you were bedridden. Kosair held your hand and placed a kiss on the back of it as he spent as much time as he could by your side. Your children cuddled up next to you, which made you smile. Your crows were perched on the window sill, letting out sad cries.

Then, you passed away peacefully in your sleep. Because you were loved by everyone in the Empire, your funeral procession was one that would be typically for the Imperial Family. Everyone, aside from Rashta, attended. Kosair and your children as well as Sovieshu and Navier stood front and center as the High Priest said some words over your casket. Once the casket was covered with dirt, your husband placed your wedding ring within the dirt so that it would be buried with you.

It was shocker for everyone after the news spread that the Empress was taking care of a child.

Sovieshu was in shock, he did scolded Navier but the Empress stood her ground.

But after awhile, Sovieshu kinda saw you as like a child that he and Navier would never had. (because he's infertile, but he doesn't know about that yet)

And after a few months, you were a mischievous little child. You liked to play pranks on people a lot.

The victims were of course the servants, but it was mostly harmless pranks so it wasn't an inconvenience whenever you did pranks

But of course, once Rashta came into the palace, she immediately became your number one victim.

You constantly pranked her much to her annoyance.

You didn't liked her as she made Navier sad and cry, so you would constantly play pranks on her.

And of course, Rashta really can't get mad because it were harmless pranks that you had done, and it would seem she was overreacting if she ever got mad at you.

And you were a child.

And whenever did Rashta complain to Sovieshu about your pranks, he would sigh and shook his head and tell her, "She's just a child, don't blame her too much."

Which annoyed Rashta to no end.

Heinrey? Oh, Heinrey absolutely loves you.

And you looked up to him as sorta of a big brother.

He would sometimes help you in your pranks, much to McKenna dismay.

And he would always back you up and defend you.

You two would also make trinkets to make Navier happy.

Of course, once Navier and Sovieshu divorced and Navier and him were going to get married. Navier was the one who took you.

You didn't want to stay with Sovieshu and Rashta and besides, it was Navier who did all of the caring of you.

Kosair? Oh boy.. you and Kosair were like a match made in hell.

You two liked Navier and would protect her everything.

You two would plan pranks on Sovieshu and Rashta but it would be you who would do it as they can't get mad at you.

Either way, he became like a uncle or a brother to you.

Hear me out

With the growing popularity of transmigration webtoons, I assume we've all read those ones about a random girl or fan reincarnating in the villainess' body and changing the original plot completely, and often finding out the villainess wasn't so bad and the MC was the real enemy all along.

I'm obsessed with that trope and I don't care how repetitive or predictable it gets sometimes, it fuels me. It gives me life. And since I recently started to re-read The Remarried Empress on webtoon (i'm following I Abdicate my Title as Empress now and the nostalgia hit me), I had an idea I can't stop thinking about. Well, two ideas:

A fierce fan of The Remarried Empress dying in an accident or falling into a coma, I don't care, and reincarnating in Rasha's body, right when's she found by Emperor Sovieshu on the trap. She's a BIG supporter of Navier and hates Sovieshu with passion, blaming him for everything. Her opinion on Rasha is the same as the average fans...until she experiences the girl's trauma and hardships herself, and realizes that there's more depth in the unfamous webtoon villainess than she thought. Despite her new identity and knowing most of the plot, she cannot bring herself to stay away from Navier and show her adoration for the Empress, acting like a fangirl whenever she sees her or hears about her. She helps push all the strings to guarantee Navier and Heinrey's love story to shail, because even though she wants her close, she wants Navier to have the happy life she deserves.

Or the original Rashta going back to the past after her death and, feeling terrible for what she did, vows to not commit the same mistakes again and decides to do her best to help Navier from the distance whenever the Emperor fucks up. She doesn't want to be empress, just have a cozy and secure life away from slavery, so she's resolved to make Navier stay and if she has to act as a marital therapist for them so be it. She knows her position is secured with her baby, so it's not like she needs the Emperor's affection on her, just his promise to look after her (plus she resents him a lot now, so the less she interacts with him, the better).

These ideas were born out of my new found realization that Rashta, while she works amazing as a pitiful villain, her character was deeply misunderstood and forever condemned to be mocked and attacked by everyone, both in the story and the fandom. She wasn't a saint, sure. She did bad things out of selfishness and purposedly went against Navier to steal her place, and I was satisfied with the ending she got. But most of the flaws that made her so annoying for the fans are actually reasonable within her character's past. Rashta was sold as a slave by her own father when she was a child, placed in a house with masters that abused her and treated her like trash simply for existing (Lotteshu even gave her a dead baby to let her believe it was the one she lost, how the fuck no one talks more about it?). Then, she escapes and the Emperor saves her, showering her in affection and riches and promising her a fairytale love story. She think she's safe, that she can finally be happy, but Lotteshu re appears and begins to blackmail her, and then turns out the Emperor doesn't love her but wants to the heir she can give him. Ergi is her only friend in court apparently, but he's manipulating her from the beginning and eventually betrays her. And Rashta wasn't purposedly rude to Navier at first, the girl was illiterate and knew nothing about etiquette, but she admired Navier and wanted to be close to her, but Navier assumed she was mocking her instead. And Sovieshy obviously never helped this situation.

I want to see a story where Rashta's traumatic past is properly explored instead of showing it as side information, and she gets the development she should have had. And what better way than with a reincarnation story? At least in my opinion

❈ This things starts when Rashta was still a slave at the Rimwell estate, she would steal Libetti's portraits to stare at them at night and would return them very early in the morning, Alan noticed this and so out of annoyance bought a Navier portrait during a business trip for her so she wouldn't get into trouble.

❈ Sooner or later, she escaped and got caught into the emperor's trap, where she was taken to the imperial palace and was healed, where the emperor was taken by her beauty and asked her to his concubine.

❈ Rashta immediately refused to this, but she was still too weak and hurt to be left alone like that, she and Sovieshu got to know each-other in that time when she's healing and Sovieshu soon realized that he wanted to keep Rashta around, she became close to him in that time period, not as a lover or concubine though, maybe as a friend or sister, and so he built up the courage and asked Rashta to be his sister.

❈ Of-course she agreed, she wanted to have someone to love her and be with her, she liked Sovieshu and felt touch-starved and wanted to have someone to help navigate her through this world, also maybe because she wanted to meet Navier at-least once.

❈ She was having her education, while also starting her own business of dressing and women’s accessories, it included jewellery, shoes, perfumes, make-up, night-gowns, undergarments and even women’s hygiene products..

❈ This made a big hit in not only the Eastern empire but also nearby Kingdoms and Empire and thus, Rashta was there being a CEO and having multiple shops across empires and kingdom at reasonable to everybody, including commoners and peasant can enjoy them.

❈ She has everyone follow certain rules in her shops otherwise you’re thrown out, which is no discrimination, not treating any of the workers badly or anything us people suffer on a daily basis…

❈ Thanks to this, Rashta also gets to meet Navier who is a fan of her designs and she treats Rashta with respect, being her husband’s sister after all, and soon they became quick friends, one golden retriever girl and one black cat girl, such an amazing “friendship” , just “Girls being gal pals”…

❈ Things are going differently behind the curtains as Rashta and Navier are often yelled at by Sovieshu for putting on such marks that will make people gossip, but its fine, cause Rashta doesn’t listen! And she still leaves hickeys on Navier and now everybody in the palace know Navier has a lover other than Sovieshu who she has come over to her room every night…

❈ At-least being in a relationship solves 20% of the problems caused by Rashta as a yandere as compared to if she was not in a relationship with Navier……Does not mean, Rashta will not do irrational things, Rashta is like √2 in a question where you don’t even need it…If you get what I mean…

❈ Rashta kills everybody who even talks or thinks about Navier or Sovieshu in a slightly wrong way or disagree with their point of views, Yes, Rashta is a platonic yandere for her dear brother, Sovieshu…

❈ Rashta is very much hesitant letting any other women spend alone time with Navier for her past with Alan, because Alan wasn’t very much kind to her and when Rashta finally finds someone who likes her for herself, she doesn’t want them to find someone else who they think looks even slightly better than her.

❈ Rashta doesn’t give off punishments that much, maybe a few slaps here and there and maybe starving Navier, she never gives punishments to Sovieshu, she thinks he’s still a child, even though Sovieshu is around 5 years older than her….She only gives him a scolding and maybe a slap if very angry, but for Navier it’s different…But she barely ever gives off punishments to the two, because she thinks it’s other people’s fault

❈ She also hasn’t let anybody else date Sovieshu, only maybe Heinry or maybe Kosair, Kaufman is a high one in respect in her eyes (as male suitors) but only after threatening them badly…She only thinks of a few maybe a few of her maids (as female suitors) to let Sovieshu date them in girls..

❈ Rashta, is both Navier and Sovieshu’s personal taste tester, seeing if anything is poisonous and only letting the two eat, she also does this thing with everything else, she’s very protective and often overthinks things and checks everything… She doesn’t want her loves ones to be hurt!

❈ Also she spoils Navier rotten, by making her some hand-made gifts, making her jewellery, clothing, perfumes, handmade flower bouquets, candles with flowers, a tiny letter or maybe those jars with all the reasons she loves Navier , some of those gifts are also given to Sovieshu…

❈ Rashta is honestly more open and gives more freedom to a willing! Darling as compared to a non-willing! Darling. Rashta lets Navier do whatever she wants while she does things in her place, though Navier doesn’t want to put so much burden on Rashta, she also likes the tiny breaks and then they do the work together!

Preface: You are the loyal wife of Kosair, but no one knows that since you tend to stay home and out of the public eye. However, you receive a summons from your sister-in-law, Navier, asking you to become her lady-in-waiting since Viscountess Verdi left to be employed by Rashta. You accepted the position, and a whole spiel of events happened after that.

Sovieshu

Upon seeing you on your first day within the palace, he was absolutely smitten. Not only were you absolutely beautiful, but you also had the voice and kindness as a goddess. As a result, he tried to get to know you. However, you took your job as Navier’s lady-in-waiting very seriously and was entirely dedicated to her.

You weren’t exactly surprised when he asked you to be his second mistress, considering he would pull any excuse to be around you. However, you declined his offer, saying that you were sure your husband wouldn’t be happy about that, and that you were loyal to Kosair and not even death could part you. That is one way to bruise an Emperor’s ego.

He kind of ignored the part where you said you were already married before being employed in the castle, and he assumed that he lost you to his brother-in-law. The two already hated each other, so when your husband came to visit Navier, Sovieshu gritted his teeth as he watched Kosair kiss you. The ring on your finger had never shown clearer than at this moment.

Rashta

She immediately saw you as a threat to her and her already damaged reputation. You outshined her in just about everything, be it kindness, charm, or just beauty in general. She stood no chance against you, and she couldn’t spread any rumors about you that wouldn’t make it sound like she’s just jealous of you.

When she found out that Sovieshu had asked you to be his second mistress, she was absolutely terrified at what that might entail. Was he bored of her? Would she be kicked out of the palace? Would she have to go back to her life of slavery? Well, good thing you refused.

However, as much as she wanted to not believe it, the truth was still there: the Emperor was infatuated with you. Rashta could see it as he forced a smile in your and Kosair’s direction. At least you weren’t willing to betray your husband. Maybe you were less of a threat than she originally thought.

Navier

She was a bit annoyed that Viscountess Verdi left, but she had the perfect idea for a replacement. So, she wrote a letter to you, and was glad to see you show up ready for the job. You caught up quickly, and you did really well. You had the voice of a nightingale, and it soothed her to no end. You promised to both her and your husband that they would be the only ones that you would sing for.

You told her that Sovieshu had asked you to become his mistress and that he promised you would never have to work another day in your life. Navier covered her smile because she knew that with the passion you both showed at your wedding, you and Kosair were still very much in love with each other and well on your way to starting a family.

The time that Kosair visits her, she knew that he was instead trying to visit you. The Empress felt a bit smug upon seeing her jealous husband watch as your husband dipped you down and kissed you right in the middle of the room. For once, Sovieshu got a taste of his own medicine, and Navier was happy about it.

Heinrey

He first met you when he visited Navier in his bird form, and as much as he would like to say you were beautiful… he was biased towards his Queen. No offense, but we all know how much he is absolutely in love with the Empress. Obviously he is going to think that Navier is the most beautiful person that the world has ever seen, and we love him for that.

All this aside, you both are in an alliance of sorts. He was not allowed to hear you sing, but during that time where he wasn’t allowed to come visit you would gather information that you would give him at a later time. In his bird form, he knew where to find you, so it was never really a problem.

When Kosair had been exiled from the Eastern Empire, he was aware that you would probably want to go with him. Thus, he offered his Kingdom as an escape so that neither of you would be targeted by an Emperor (*cough*Sovieshu*cough*) in any fashion. Plus, he knew that if he was going to have Navier move to his Kingdom as well, you needed to be there as well.

Kosair

This man is most definitely in love with you. Whenever he gets angry, you’re either there to calm him down or say you forgot your weapon, darling! Then you give him a kiss and he forgets why he’s mad or who he’s mad at. He’s just so lucky that you chose him out of all your possible suitors. But he’s still insecure so he wants to make sure that no other man steals you away, thus you stay in the Manor.

However, you receive a letter from Navier, asking if you would become her lady-in-waiting. Kosair was scared about his brother-in-law trying to make a move on you, but you reminded him that no one loved you like he did (take that as you may), and you promised him that, aside from Navier, he was the only person you would sing for.

When he went to visit Navier, he really just wanted to see you, his beloved wife. He also wanted to give Sovieshu a message: you were his and his alone. So, he dipped you down and kissed you right in front of him. Very passionately, too. The hand you placed on the back of his neck made him want to keep going, but you were in front of an audience, so you both parted.

The Empress Strikes Back (Prologue)

Book summary:

An alternative universe where Rashta finds out Duke Ergi's true intentions and has him killed. This changes that paths of everyone, including Empress Navier. A wife, sovereign and new mother Navier must chart this new course into a deadlier direction. And new challenges create new opportunities, even perhaps the chance to take everything for herself.

Her body still ached from the act of labor. She still bled slightly and her pelvis had never ached so much. But looking at the two babies by her bedside made it all worth it. She honestly never thought this was possible. To have both a loving husband and not one but two beautiful children. Even though the doctor told her to rest, Navier could not resist getting up and peering over her baby's cribs.

“Like a pair of baby angels.” She thought. To her they were the two most beautiful babies in the world. Though she supposed they looked so lovely to her because most mothers felt that way about their babies. She remembered once asking her mother what it felt like to have a baby.

“It is like seeing the most precious thing in the world and knowing you would do anything to protect them.” Navier knew that was what mattered. Her children would always be the most beautiful things to her. A year ago at the cold Eastern court Navier would have never thought she could have this. A loving husband and lovely children. The baby closer to the window let out a little whimper and Navier immediately stroked their soft, fuzzy hair.

“Hello my love.” She cooed. The baby made a gentle gurgling noise that sounded happy, at least Navier though so, and opened a pair of amethyst purple eyes. Kai’s eyes were now wide open and he squirmed in his wrappings. Carefully, Navier picked her son up. It still made her so nervous and giddy at the same time. If this was a dream then she did not want to wake up.

She tried her best not to wake her husband up. Slipping out of bed she tip toed across the carpeted floor. Navier stepped out onto the balcony. It gave her a look of the garden below. The moon was high in the sky allowing Navier to see everything despite it being night. The tree leaves rustled in the light wind and fireflies darted between branches. Once very long ago her mother told Navier that fireflies represented the small, little things in life that matter.

What had mattered to her most in life. Navier had never truly been allowed to be Navier. At least not since before her marriage. All that had mattered was being a "perfect empress". In every way she had been the perfect wife to Sovieshu, losing herself completely in the role. "But if you and his majesty were to be divorced, you would no longer be an Empress. I fear that you may have a breakdown if that happens." Those words Kaufman had said, and it felt so long ago, had resonated with her as of late. Where would she be if Heinly had not come to her rescue. Even now as an Empress and mother the thought still haunted her.

She would never feel safe.

"Your majesty." Laura gently shook her mistress awake. Heavily Navier rolled over to find her ladies standing beside her bed, grim looks on their faces. Immediately that familiar knot of anxiety tie itself deep in her belly. "What has happened." Laura looked from Mastas and back. "I think its best that you come down to the throne room." Navier looked to the other side of her bed and realized Heinly was not there. This only made the anxiety worse. But as usual Navier bottled her fear and pushed them deep down. Some things truly had not changed.

Navier entered the chambers dressed in blue, which she was partial to these days. Flanked by her ladies Navier made her way to the throne. Heinly, although looking at Mckenna, took her hand and pressed a chaste but loving kiss to it. Navier had to try and not look too much like a lovestruck girl. It occurred to her that Sovieshu had never been this warm towards her. "My Lord, if you could repeat what you have just said to my wife." Heinly's voice was oddly clipped. Mckenna did a little bow in the empresses direction. "Your majest. Lord Ergi was found dead in his room. We do not know how death occured, only that he went without fuss in the middle of the night." Mckenna looked ill at ease. "With blood on his lips." Heinly gritted. Navier looked between her husband and her cousin. "Are you insinuating that the cause was the result of foul play?" She knew the answer. "Likely, your majesty." Navier leaned back into her chair, suddenly very tired. She wondered if it was Rashta. For a while now Navier had suspected that Ergi was in league with her husband, even if it had never been confirmed. "You are dismissed." Heinly ordered. Mckenna did one final bow and then left.

"Do you think it was that woman?" Navier and Heinly were alone now in their marital chambers. "Yes." Heinly threw his gloves on the bed. Nvier wanted to offer some comfort. But she wasn't sure if Heinly had ever truly been friends with the Duke. And besides, she would rather not think about that. "We will need to do something about Rashta." Navier reclined on an armchair by the fireplace. "And that damned Emperor." Heinly's eyes flashed dangerously. Despite Navier having left her previous husband well behind she was under no illusions, that Heinly still hated Sovieshu. "I don't think so." "Truly?" "It's not like him. If it were him then Sovieshu would have made it public. It is more like Rashta to be sneaky." Navier looked into the fireplace, flames dancing upon the charred logs. Yes. It was just like Rashta to do something like this. Poison was the most likely weapon. But why? Ergi had supposedly been Heinly's friend. But he also made an alliance with Rashta. She guessed it had all been a ruse by the Duke. Get Rashta's support and then stab her in the back. Which meant that......

Navier turned away and took a gulp of wine.

Heinly and Navier took to sitting at the head of the table. Along with several lords were Koshair, Sir April and others. "Our man on the inside has been killed. Murdered by the Empress Rashta." There was muttering amongst the lords. "Your majesty, is there any proof?" Heinly gave the lord such a look that the lord paled and shrank back into his seat.He then pulled out a roll of parchment. "Here I have the results of Duke Ergi's body. Poison was indeed detected." This time it was not just muttering, but the beginnings of very real anger. Anger that Navier too felt. Rashta was still a constant specter that haunted her. Even in the Western Empire she did not feel save. And she was sick of it.

"I say, that we move to take down the Eastern Empire." Silence. Navier looked over to see her brother smirk. "But is this wise?" Another lord contested. "Is it wise to leave your Emperor and Empress vulnerable? Have we not seen the way in which the whore schemes? Do you think she will not spread her wed wider given the chance. And look what she has done to the easy. What if those ideas spread here?" This convinced the lords. But there was just once question. "Then who will sit on the throne?" Heinly stood up. "I. I will be Emperor of the east and west." They all looked to him. Navier did not like war. And however she had been treated she wished no ill will on the country she once lived. But enough was enough.

And so that day Navier, declared war.
