I'm sickened by the response my US Senator representative sent me after I contacted him about the genocide of Palestinians (send from a 'no reply' email address, of course).
Rafael Warnock, a Christian pastor (of course) had the absolute gall to say
"The heinous acts of violence committed by Hamas upon the people of Israel on October 7, 2023 were horrific and are rightly condemned by all who believe in human dignity and seek a lasting peace. What these events make clear is that there are those who fear peace and seek to sabotage it at any cost."
As if Israel is the one who had been 'accomplishing' peace until the evil, evil Palestinians attacked out of nowhere!! There hasn't been peace for Palestinians for 75 years!! Remember this analysis of Hamas' actions later when he discusses Israel's reaction to it.
He went on to say
"I also recognize the Palestinian community’s deep, legitimate pain and suffering. As a pastor who believes every human being is sacred, I am carefully monitoring Israel’s operations in Gaza. I am praying that all hostages are rescued, and innocent Palestinians are not caught in the crossfire."
'Monitoring'???? If he was 'monitoring Israel's operations in Gaza', he would have seen that for fucking DECADES that Israel has already been attacking Palestinian civilians!! There is no 'crossfire' to be caught in - Israel is specifically targeting civilians! So what is he planning to do with all the info he's getting from this 'monitoring'? What more does he need to see in order to take action and stand up against what Israel is doing?
He continues with about the most horrific statement I can imagine
"Israel has a moral responsibility to protect its citizens from indiscriminate harm"
Just flat out saying that Israel is MORALLY CORRECT to slaughter Palestinians because of Hamas' actions! And by extension, that Palestine DOES NOT have the 'moral responsibility' to protect its citizens from indiscriminate harm perpetrated by Israel since he called their actions 'heinous' and 'horrific'. How much more clear can you get that this Southern, Christian pastor, a registered Democrat, believes that it is morally correct for the Palestinian people to be oppressed by a settler colonial fascist nation?
He started his letter by condemning Hamas' actions against Israeli civilians, but when Israel does FAR FAR worse to Palestinians, it's no longer 'horrific' or 'heinous', it's "Israel's moral responsibility".
He again reiterates that
"it [Israel] also has a duty to do all it can to prevent harm to innocent Palestinian civilians"
And to that, all I can say is: WTF are you even saying? We have hard evidence that for over 75 years Israel has been 'harming' innocent Palestinian civilians in every conceivable way. So this statement is either wildly misinformed or he doesn't consider apartheid, military occupation, war crimes, violations of international law, carpet bombings of civilian areas, and restriction of resources like food, water, and electricity to be 'harm'. As long as it's happening to those 'savage Arabs' it's fine. Almost like he believes, as Israel does, that there are no innocent Palestinians.
He then goes on to talk about all the work he's done to 'help' the Palestinian people such as
"joined a letter to Secretary of State Blinken regarding the need for humanitarian support and access in Gaza as a result of the May 2021 hostilities" "joined a letter to Secretary Blinken expressing my concern about the Israel High Court's recent ruling to allow the evictions of Palestinian residents from their homes in the Masafer Yatta region of the West Bank" "I signed onto a June 23, 2023 letter to President Biden calling for an investigation into her [American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh] killing"
And finally,
"On October 18, 2023, I joined several of my colleagues in the Senate in sending another letter to Secretary Blinken requesting that the U.S. provide at least $73 million in emergency international humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people following the outbreak of the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza"
So, after a couple years and you 'expressing concern' and 'joining letters', what has happened? Why did that aid need to be sent? What did the investigation in the murder of the American journalist find and what did you do with that information? (It found that Israeli forces had killed her and Senator Warnock did nothing with that information).
These statements firmly place the suffering of the Palestinian people as passive things that 'just happen' rather than an active choice to impose suffering upon them by the Israeli government.
And about that aid that's trying to get into Palestine now: how's that going? Is Israel letting that aid get through the border? No? So why hasn't he mentioned that? Why hasn't he called out Israel's refusal to allow aid in? Unless he doesn't truly believe that Palestinians deserve that aid.
It is not 'confusing' or 'complicated' to condemn apartheid, war crimes, and military rule over a disenfranchised people trapped in an open-air concentration camp. People standing up against their oppressors should not be seen as 'justification' for wiping an entire people group off the map.
If you TRULY believe that the death of civilians is never justified and must be stopped, but then you only condemn one side's actions (the side that is being oppressed, has no military, no resources of its own, etc), then it sounds like you just want the oppressed to sit down and shut up so the oppressors can continue to murder and subjugate them. It sounds like you don't want 'peace', you want 'quiet' and the domination of the 'superior' group over the 'inferior' one.
As Martin Luther King Jr. and so many others have echoed the sentiment "Peace is not the absence of violence, it is the presence of justice"
Palestinians aren't calling for the eradication of Jewish people. They are not calling for Jews to be second-class citizens. They are not attempting to treat Israelis like Israelis have treated them. They are calling for freedom and equality.
As long as there is a government whose foundational principals are that one ethno group of people should be above another, there can be no peace, no justice, no equality. That is why the Confederate States of America had to be removed from power, that is why the Nazi Party of Germany had to be removed from power, that is why the Israeli government as it stands today MUST be removed from power.
---
I went back to Senator Warnock's contact page and sent my response to him that way as I could not respond to the email reply, but honestly, I'm not expecting much in return.
Senator Jon Ossoff, the other senator for my state (as well as a descendant of Jewish people who fled from the Holocaust) has not responded to my initial email. As this conflict is closer to him than others, I'm not sure I expect an answer from him at all as I am not in favor of Israel which many take as antisemitism. Perhaps he will take the situation more seriously than a Christian pastor, and perhaps he will listen to the countless Jews around the world who are standing up for Palestine, but only time - and actions - will tell.

The Sunday News Shows were pretty interesting...
Sen. Marco Rubio goes on 'This Week' & speaks about a "Pro- Hamas Wing"(?). He's obviously Pro- Israel, but he tries 2 equate 1,200 Israeli deaths (hundreds killed by 'Friendly Fire') & the relocation of 90,000 Israeli squatters w/ over 30,000 dead Palestinians & the relocation of over 1.5 Million Gazans. Netanyahu faces criminal charges when he leaves Office, so he's motivated 2 keep his Campaign of Genocide going. Netanyahu & the Likud Party's lust 4 a 'Greater Israel' has made Bibi determined 2 force the Palestinian Population on Egypt, & Marco Rubio seems okay w/ that.
Sen. Rafael Warnock appeared on 'Face The Nation', & pretty much echoed Sen. Rubio on Israel. He called 'The State' of Israel an Ally, but R they? The History isn't lining up w/ the Washington D.C. narrative. AIPAC is definitely getting their money's worth! Warnock then stumbled over the question of Black Voter Apathy. Blackfolk want Freedom of Expression more than the Right 2 Vote 4 Anti Black Racist 'A' or Anti Black Racist 'B'... What's his view on Black Business & Job Development in Georgia? What about Black Home Ownership? Can We get ALL of these bootlicking Ministers out of Our Politics? We need POLICY, not Sermons. How many of them actually LIVE in 'The Hood'?
Following a curious disclaimer by Kristen Welker, she proceeded 2 grill Former RNC Chairwoman & Current NBC Contributer, Rona McDaniel on 'Meet The Press'. Nothing out of the ordinary 4 Kristen, but her Panel took it up a notch. Chuck Todd started by saying NBC owed Kristen an apology 4 interviewing McDaniel(???) He went on 2 slam his 'colleague' & question NBC's decision to hire her. The other Panelists more or less agreed w/ Chuck... I found that curious. NBC has been criticized 4 its Democratic Party affiliation; Chuck Todd came across like a 'Cool Kid' who didn't want Rona McDaniel sitting @ his lunch table. I thought they were supposed 2 B 'Teammates' who agree 2 disagree... I found Myself thinking about The NY Yankees acquiring Roger Clemens. Imagine if the Players shunned 'The Rocket', bcuz of his actions during his tenure w/ the Boston Red Sox? He 'beaned' A LOT of them over the Years... Where R the Adults in The Room?!
It's pretty clear that The Powers That B believe that They have dumbed down & polarized the American Public, 2 the point that Proxies call tell Us anything. Meanwhile, Conspiracy Theories of a Cancelled 2024 Presidential Election R growing. When Alexa & Siri both have it in their Algorithm, that's cause 4 concern. Nevermind the Fact that Joe Biden just signed the 2023 Budget @ the end of the 1st Quarter of 2024. When can We expect the 2024 Budget 2 B passed? Congress is awash in Lobbyist $$$, & Our Elected Officials R actually Corporate Vassals. This degree of decadence destroyed Rome, Mali, & Kongo; America is walking the same path. The Southern Invasion is only speeding up a historical Cycle.
I have said that 2024 is a Year of Affirmation, & it's clear what Politicians R affirming. Lucky 4 Us, Real Change doesn't come from Congress, it comes from The Streets.
-It's gonna B a HOT SUMMER Family!

Georgia...
Go vote.  Senator Rafael Warnock will continue to work with President Biden to lower drug prices. That’s helpful to us all.  Senator Warnock will also preserve Social Security.  His opponent will not.
The choice is clear. Vote for Senator Warnock. We don’t need another lunatic in the Senate who will work to dismantle what took over a century to build.
PS - Watching a 21st century “Sleep n Eat” turns my stomach.

Editor's Note: This is part 2 of a series in which we will discuss whether the recent setbacks Trump has experienced mean his chances for a political comeback are truly gone.
Since I never expected Donald Trump to be president, I shuddered at the prospect of participating in a symposium on the theme, “Is this the end of Trump?” How often does anyone want to risk being wrong?
But as the investment funds always warn, past performance is no guarantee of future results. After years of confounding his detractors by surviving, he has now reached the end of the line. It may take a while. His poll ratings among Republicans will not come down all of a sudden. Nonetheless, the man who labeled Jeb Bush the “low energy” candidate is perilously close to deserving the “low energy” moniker himself.
Yes, the worlds of politics and punditry have become so accustomed to Trump’s ability to come back from scandals that would destroy the careers of everyone else that they now see Trump as endowed with miraculous superpowers. His greatest superpower has been the reluctance of most Republicans to move against him no matter what he did or said. To a large degree, that still holds. The GOP’s politicians remain deeply afraid of Trump’s loyalists and, as I wrote recently in the Washington Post, Trump’s weakness is his strength: The more he drives non-extremists out of the Republican Party, the more his supporters will dominate Republican primaries.
So far there have been far fewer protests among Republicans against Trump’s dinner party with Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and white nationalist and anti-Semite Nick Fuentes than there should have been. There was a bit more pushback against Trump’s statement that the Constitution should be set aside so he can become president, but—Good Lord!—that should have been the end of the line right there. It wasn’t. Yet.
It would be lovely to think that decent, reasonable Republicans would finally turn on Trump for principled reasons, especially after his comments on upending the Constitution. This was the path already taken by Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger especially, and by the other eight House Republicans who voted for Trump’s impeachment the second time in 2021. It was also the choice of the seven Senate Republicans who voted to convict him.
But notice how small those numbers are. And only two of the 10 GOP House members who voted to impeach him will be members of the 118th Congress. Four, including Cheney, lost primaries, and four, including Kinzinger, decided to leave Congress.
No, Trump will only be pushed aside when his political cost to his party becomes intolerable. That is precisely what is in the process of happening. Nothing has harmed Trump more than the obvious damage he did to Republicans in the 2022 elections, culminating this month in the defeat of his handpicked candidate Hershel Walker by Sen. Rafael Warnock in the Georgia runoff.
Republicans might well have taken control of the Senate but for the weakness of Trumpist candidates not only in Georgia but also in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire. Trumpism was shellacked at the state level. His election deniers lost all the swing state secretary of state races. The landslides of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan and Gov.-elect Josh Shapiro were a tribute not only to their political skills but also to the backlash against the extremism Trump promotes.
In the meantime, standing against Trump has proved helpful to key GOP figures. Think especially of Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in Georgia. Both held on to right-wing Republicans but performed well in the Atlanta suburbs and ran far ahead of Walker. Republicans elsewhere noticed the potential advantages of life after Trump.
Trump’s political toxicity is also leading traditional centers of conservative power to move away from him. This is nowhere more obvious than in the Murdoch-owned press: the Wall Street Journal editorial page and the New York Post. Fox News is a more complicated story, but there have been moments of Trump agnosticism and even skepticism since the election that would have been unthinkable even a year ago.
The possibility of a Trump indictment, which seems to grow stronger by the day, is not helping him, either. It could prove to be the moment of truth. No doubt lots of Republicans, especially in the House, would rush to his defense. But others might view it as the occasion to say definitively that it was time to move on.
Which is the final element of the case for Trump’s fading from the scene: He clearly senses the possibility that Republicans will slowly abandon him. His frantic efforts to gain attention—his call for ignoring the Constitution is Exhibit A—reflect his fear that he might become the one thing he never wants to be: a loser. And the more panicky he looks, the more likely that outcome becomes.
Even when they winced, Republican leaders tolerated most of Trump’s sins. But there is one they will not forgive him for: booting away electoral victories.

MAGA Pastor Urges Direct Voting for US Senators be Abolished Because Democrats Win
Tumblr media
Right Wing Watch is reporting that after the recent defeat of Herschel Walker by Rafael Warnock in Georgia, Mississippi MAGA pastor Shane Vaughn is outraged that rural MAGA Republicans are being outvoted by folks in large urban areas who tend to vote “Blue.”  So, he is now demanding that states abandon the 17th Amendment and abolish direct, popular voting for US Senators, replacing that with a “statewide Electoral College-like system.”  Pastor Vaughn says this is desperately needed because "We cannot defeat the ‘population centers’ without the Electoral College.”
Yes pastor, because nothing says “justice and freedom,” quite like taking away people’s right to vote!  That said, I do understand the point the good pastor is trying to make here.  First and foremost, he believes “its a damn shame that states have to have big cities in them.”  I mean, how dare these Libtards push the idea that people who live in urban areas also deserve a say in how they’re governed!  I mean, who came up with an idea like that?
Of course, this whole issue of moving away from direct elections to a statewide electoral college vote, surfaced when the pastor and his Republican pals looked at the results of Georgia’s 2022 election for US Senator and realized that most of the geographical areas in the state voted red, while only the large urban areas like Atlanta, which have many more people, went blue.  “Damn you democracy!”
This outraged rural Trumpistan, who believe cities are totally infested with the “enemy.”  Put another way - most minorities tend to live in cities.  So, Republicans decided its “geography” that should decide elections, not voters!  Really, because last time I checked, land didn’t seem nearly as interested in voting - as people do.  Hell, why not just give farm animals a 3/5 vote also?  I’m sure they’d vote at least as intelligently as rural Georgia does.  Looking at you Marjorie Taylor Green!
Of course, it doesn’t take a genius to realize why Republicans hate “statewide” senatorial, gubernatorial, and presidential elections - there’s nothing for them to gerrymander.  And THAT is where the pastor’s “electoral college” voting scheme comes in.  OK, but then why bother with elections at all?  Why not just have MAGA church pastors select US Senators for us?  I mean, if you can’t trust a filthy rich televangelist who flies around in a Gulfstream jet, who can you trust?
Gee, wonder what’s next on the Republican agenda?  Only land-owning, white men can vote?  Hey, here’s an idea.  I know a way you folks can actually legitimately win elections.  I know this is gonna sound really “out there,” but how about offering voters something that would actually benefit them and their families, instead of simply fostering hate, suspicion, and more tax cuts for the rich?  Just a thought.  Of course, the rubes won’t keep sending you shitloads of cash, if you don’t continue to scare the hell out of them with all the imaginary threats you’ve concocted, but we all know televangelists have no interest in those “pleasures of the flesh,” don’t we?  Its about saving souls.

Warnock campaign sues Georgia over Saturday vote ruling
Warnock campaign sues Georgia over Saturday vote ruling
(NewsNation) — Sen. Rafael Warnock’s campaign is suing the State of Georgia to protect Saturday early voting before Georgia’s closely watched runoff election for Senate.  The lawsuit filed on Tuesday claims the State misinterprets Georgia’s voting laws by prohibiting voting on Nov. 26th. Officially, early in-person voting “must begin as soon as possible prior to the runoff and no later than…
