HAN JI MIN 🌟 | Korean Actors 200 (2021)
➟ Han Ji Min is in full bloom with profound acting in melodramas. Since she was a teenager, she has been active in commercials and music videos based on her beauty and began acting in 2003 when she starred as a child actor of Song Hye Kyo in All In, the popular TV series. Han played Lee Jung Hee, a female aviator in the film Blue Swallow (2005), and starred for the first time in the horror film Cadaver (2007), which depicts bizarre events that occur while medical students practice anatomy. It was Yi San, Wind of the Palace, the TV historical drama in 2007 that showed the actor’s talent and star quality in full.
After that, Han Ji Min showed a femme fatal charm through Han Kaekju in Detective K: Secret of the Virtuous Widow (2011), a fusion costume film that attracted public attention. She also showed oriental beauty, especially the traditional image of the Korean woman in Hanbok, the Korean dress, while playing Park Ha in Rooftop Prince, the romantic comedy TV series aired in 2012. In the historical drama The Fatal Encounter (2014), she appeared as ambitious Queen Jeongsun, who harassed King Jeongjo (Hyun Bin), transforming her image into a villain. On the other hand, through the romantic comedy The Plan Man (2014), she got out of costume dramas and gave off various witty and cheerful charms. Han expanded her acting career into romantic comedies by pulling off dancing and singing as Yoo Sojung, a musician.
Her turning point as an actor was the film Miss Baek (2018). She played the role of Baek Sangah, a low-life figure who communicated with a girl and tried to find the meaning of life, showing solid acting without losing Han Ji Min’s unique soft charm. Called ‘Rediscovery of Han Ji Min,’ the film was well received, and the actor swept the Best Actress at many awards, including the Blue Dragon Award.
The evolution of such acting led to Josée (2020). Josée, who is in a wheelchair, falls in love with Youngseok (Nam Joo Hyuk), who helps her. Josée, played by Han Ji Min, opens her heart by saying, “Eat before you go!” like a habit. However, knowing that their love cannot last, Josée calmly accepts the hunch of farewell. Han Ji Min’s acting is in full bloom as Josée’s sympathy is added to the energy of Baek Sangha, an unyielding character. Han Ji Min has proved that she can have her own voice not only in melodramas but in stories against the harsh world and the fetters of life.

jooheon
met during his debut. jeongsun, another hera member, knew hyunwoo, another monsta x member, very well. so hera and monsta x went out to eat to congratulate their debut. they literally had SO MUCH in common
she can see jooheon across the room, and usually he hasn't seen her yet, and she just screams his name, and prolongs it, and he lifts his head and they lock eyes and he goes HEYYYYYY
every now and then, they post a pic together on insta of them with couple outfits.
both were a part of idol corner, and a screentime joke was that they knew too much about one another. they would laugh it off but would later prove in he episode how that theory is correct, constantly
hype monsters towards one another that is not afraid to turn goofy or ugly.

while ikon was backstage, sumi came backstage and did their fanchant which made them go like woah!!!! i lover her, this is awesome!!!! so sumi and ikon are like friends, and junhoe and sumi are besties
when ikon mentions sumi on variety shows, junhoe is the most talkative. he will go on and on until the mc would say, "aren't you getting a lil too excited??" and he'll be like what?? nah, she jus my girl
junhoe likes to imagine he is an amazing impressionist, so one of his impressions are sumi. he would laugh extremely loudly, clap his hands, make faces at the camera, and pucker his lips whenever he would complain (which he just loved doing). sumi ended up chastising him on it multiple times, which ended up her doing a, very bad, impression on him.
sumi once did his makeup, which ended up in a disaster. the results were junhoe taking pics with sumi, as well as videos of him with a wig on that circulated for a couple of months
they seriously act like their high all the time, and sumi is just CONSTANTLY laughing to the point of tears, and junhoe is just sitting their in silence, making a joke every now and then that makes sumi lose her shit

jungkook
their mothers were friends prior to birth, so they just sorta had to hang out?? like playdates were every friday, eventually they grew to love each other
while i don't wanna spoil who a specific member ends up with, here is an exception to the spoiler. they really liked each other since basically high school, and began to date in 2019
they understand each other on a spiritual level. they basically know everything about each other, so when one is uncomfortable, the other will swoop in to save them! they just understand what it takes to make the other happy
has seen everything from the other. they have seen each other angry, sad, scared, happy, naked, etc. they've known each other for a very long time, so they've seen everything!
idk how to close this one?? like they are an ideal friendship and relationship. they can easily solve conflicts as well as avoid them. they really get each other.

met right after blackpink's debut stage. matilda went to congratulate the girls, and seongmi ended up tagging along. sumi was constantly complimenting them and saying how much they loved about everything. she ended up complimenting lisa on the way, which made lisa compliment her, and they got into a fight on who is better
has a group chat with seongmi (hera), matilda (hera), chaeyoung (bp), lisa (bp), jihyo (twice), mina (twice), jimin (15&) and yerin (15&) called "save the bees, bitch"!
they speak english together, a lot. lisa I'd trying really hard to teach sumi thai so she could be a REAL multilingual queen™
they love to dance with one another and improve how they do things. they give advice, ideas, and concepts!! always looking out for one another
a beneficial relationship that will last a long time.

both got7 and hera, as while as a few other groups, did a preformance together in 2016. they we're partners, and while they practiced together, they got to know each other better and became closer
they really like to pull pranks against literally everyone, so nobody believes them in anything they do. one of them could have broken an arm and one of their fellow members would be like "ok, where's the camera, you guys"
so unbelievably loud, everyone gets frustrated when they're together because they laugh at anything the other one does ugh
annoying beyond belief, they are actually children. they are not afraid to walk up to an idol and make fun of them by impersonating them or mocking one of their dance moves.
they act like cousins at a family reunion? like, they can't really meet up a lot, but when thEY DO

they do lots of lives together. it could be just random things between them just talking, practicing in the studio, playing a game of checkers or something. they just have a lot of lives.
junhong is older than sumi, but she is like his sugar daddy. she will be the one buying him things, or taking him out, or giving him treats and stuff.
sumi has an ongoing project of her scaring junhong. like 3 second videos of her going "BOO" and him going "ah, dude quit". she posts then every saturday

6.11. Oppression of Christianity and moves by Western countries
Question 6: Conditions in the last years of the Joseon era › 1. Oppression of Christianity and moves by Western countries
Click here for table of contents
6.11. Oppression of Christianity and moves by Western countries
It is considered that the propagation of Christianity in Korea started in the 16th century. Below are quoted the essential points from pp. 435-436 of “4. New development of ideas and culture”, “Chapter 8. Latter period of the Joseon era”, Korean History I, where there is a description about the circumstances under which Christianity was introduced to Korea and the oppression that started afterwards, as well as about the moves taken by France and the United Kingdom in response to this situation.
[ As is widely known, encounters between Europe and East Asia started in earnest in the 16th century. Many Westerners came to Japan and China for trade and the propagation of Catholicism. However, during that period, they did not come to Korea. Encounters between Korea and Europe took place indirectly via China, when the Korean envoys dispatched to Ming and Qing took notice of the presence of the West in China.
[…]
The general attitude in Korea was to distinguish between Seohak (Western technology and learning) and Seogyo (Catholicism) and to criticize and reject the latter, while appreciating the former.
[…]
Those who were interested in Catholicism secretly gathered to learn about Catholicism. One such member, Yi Seung-hun, went to Beijing in 1784 accompanied by his father, who was one of the members of a Korean envoy to Imperial China. He learned the Catholic doctrine there for more than forty days and finally got baptized by Father Grammont.
[…]
After Yi returned to Korea, there were a succession of people who converted into Catholicism among those close to him]
That was how Catholics appeared and rose in number in Korea in the latter half of the 18th century.
We would also like to quote below the essential points of a description of the oppression of Catholicism on page 458 of “1. Rise of dictatorship based on lineage”, “Chapter 9, Latter period of the Joseon era (19th century) in Korean History I.
[ When Catholicism was introduced to Korea from China at the end of the 18th century, it became popular as a religion, going beyond the academic dimension. The Byuk faction oppressed Catholicism, regarding it as an evil teaching (sahak) “which disregards the father and the monarch, deceives heaven and is contrary to human morals”. However, while King Jeongjo was alive, no decisive incident occurred, as Catholicism was protected by Jeongjo and his right-hand man named Chae Je-gong, who belonged to the Southerner faction. By 1800, the number of Catholics had increased to around 10,000, and the Catholic church had become more active. Seeing the expansion of Catholicism, the grand empress dowager Queen Jeongsun and the Byuk faction proceeded to oppression and conducted a large-scale purge of the Southerner Si faction, which included a large number of Catholics, and the related Noron Si faction. This affair is called the Sinyu Persecution.]
In February 1801, the key figures of Catholicism were arrested and imprisoned. They either died in prison, were executed or exiled. In March 1801, a Catholic priest named Ju Mun-mo as well as Gang Wan-suk and the court ladies who sheltered Ju were decapitated. The persecution also took place in the countryside, and the five key figures were executed in an extremely cruel manner called neungji-cheocham (lingering death by slow slicing). It is estimated that around 100 people were executed and 400 were exiled.
According to page 468 of Korean History I, the Catholics who had survived hid themselves in mountainous areas. Following this incident, the belief spread to women, and oppression continued in various parts of the country. Below is a quotation from a related article.
[ During the search for Catholics, the government discovered the infiltration of French Catholic priests and conducted successive executions to eradicate Catholics whose numbers were rising like wildfire. […] In August, three French Catholic priests, as well as 54 others were executed, including Jeong Ha-sang, son of Jeong Yak-jong, and Yu Jin-gil, who was a high-ranking interpreter (Dangsang Yeok-kwan) and a third-grade official.
[…]
The infiltration of French priests led the Joseon Dynasty to reinforce its isolationist policy and to try to prevent the expansion of Catholicism.]
On page 323, at the last part of “Chapter 15. Science – Industry – Commerce – International Relationship” in “Introduction” of The History of the Church of Korea, the author described the attitude of the government which neglected famine victims, took no relief measures at all and continued its isolationist policy, while the bodies of those who had starved to death were left on the roadside. He then wrote the following:
[ Such a situation could not continue forever. Civilized states strongly request navigation and commerce by their nationals in the Far East, and they will not allow this miserable, small and weak kingdom, without a navy or even full-fledged army, to burn the ships that approach its coasts, to massacre those who arrive in the country just because they are foreigners, and to try to stay outside the sphere of exchange for so long. This challenge will one day be overcome by Russians, who are increasingly making moves from the northeastern part of Asia for invasion. Since 1860 (when the Treaty of Beijing was concluded), their territory has been adjacent to Korea, and there have been a series of challenges on the border and commercial issues between these two states. Such problems are sure to be repeated in the future, and one day Korea will be annexed by Russia. Moreover, British and American people will be angry and probably force Korea by military means to ensure the freedom of commerce if they suffer new insults on their national flags.]
Surprisingly enough, the Frenchman Charles Dallet referred to the possibility of the annexation of Korea by Russia at the moment of the publication of “Introduction” of The History of the Church of Korea in 1874. Two years before the conclusion of the Treaty of Ganghwa Island between Korea and Japan, it had become apparent to this Westerner that Korea would not be able to survive as an independent state. He went so far as to say that one day “Korea would be annexed by Russia”.
However, despite such a point of view by Westerners, the Korean rulers of the day were only keen on keeping their luxurious life and seemed to have no interest in the future of their own state.
