July Fic Recs! (TRC edition)
I read substantially less this month (so ready for holidays!!), but I still got a few gems to recommend:
stand still by @lizpaige (G, 2k, pynch, missing scene)
This takes place after TRK and it’s so perfect – the way Adam and Ronan communicate with body language, it's so typical!! This is canon to me now.
Boys In The Bathroom by charliewritingronan (E, 13.7k, pynch, canon-divergence)
This was such a fun read! I loved the dialogue in this, it’s all the pride and snark that we know and love in Ronan and Adam (and I’m still cackling about 1000 Coca-Cola t-shirts).
Two Point Perspective by cheeryos (M, 80k words, pynch, Architecture AU)
Okay this was SO GOOD! I was hesitant (because my attention span is short these days, thank you PhD stress) but it’s one of the most believable magical AUs I’ve ever read, it hits all the major beats of canon but in an entirely different setting. (And totally makes me want to go to DC, sorry Ronan)

This month started hard with the humor, then veered toward the stuff that makes your face go like 🥺, turned back toward humor, and then ended up with 🥺. My favorite fics from June include (listed in order read):
you can train your gag reflex, and other fun facts by Hylda - Is there anything better than Ronan Lynch being a gay disaster? If you like hot mess Ronan as much as I do, this fic is for you. It's nice and short and absolutely hilarious.
Adam Parrish, farmer by @hextechery - This was so calm and peaceful, which is exactly what Adam Parrish deserves. It made the Barns feel like a living thing, and the writing was just lovely.
not so transparent by @whatimages - This fic is the conversation everyone wished Ronan and Adam would have had in Greywaren. It is not only remarkably well-written, but I think the characterization is so spot on. It's perfection.
Stay by @amarillis39 - I love some nice, tooth-rotting fluff, and this fic about Ronan and Adam's second kiss is cotton candy. It's so soft and warm and cozy.
reddit gold by @via-val - This fic is perfect. No notes. It's post-Greywaren on crack on reddit. There's r/AITA, r/Advice, and (it wouldn't be Lynch brothers fic without) r/familyissues. I laughed out loud numerous times when reading this one. It's great. I love it. I'm going to go reread it right now.
father tell me if you can by @your-void-senpai - The last rec of the month veers back toward the 🥺. This one was lovely and bittersweet. Don't be surprised if it starts raining on your face when you read this one.

It starts with the wedding invitation.
It arrives with a handful of automated postcards trying to buy his land and thirty-six inches of copper wire. The envelope is expensive cardstock, soft and creamy beneath his fingers when he opens it. The card itself is filled with swirling golden cursive and tiny etchings of bees. Ronan leaves muddy finger prints on it.

I just finished binge reading “I can't hold it & I have nowhere to put it down” (it was absolutely stunning and I literally could not put it down) and I was wondering if you have any fic recs while I patiently wait for the next chapter? After finishing Greywaren and then this I can’t stop thinking about Pynch lol

Here’s a great fic that is canon-divergent in terms of Ronan and Adam getting together earlier than TRK, Drive It Like You Stole It. It’s a Greywaren/Magician fic, basically just exploring Pynch’s shared relationship to Cabeswater, particularly in terms of Adam’s budding attraction to Ronan in conjunction with his connection to Cabeswater.
This one’s…? A little kinky? If that’s for you? Also a college AU. I tend to steer clear of AUs but I rly liked this one. It’s also part of a series that’s pretty damnnn good. Basically Ronan just getting everything he wants on his birthday, lmao. That does include Adam using a butt plug. You have been WARNED!! and the sirens go all night
You’ve gotta have a good TRK chapter 39 fic - and I love a persimmon. So good.
Here’s a pre-relationship AMPED UP/slightly resolved sexual tension Pynch fic, also slightly canon-divergent placed within BLLB. It’s just… oh my god. In-character and a great Adam fic. spinning gotten strange
I’ve recced this one before but if you haven’t read it. My fuckjng god. This is my FAVORITE pynch fic of all time : TWO OF MF CUPS. also a lil canon divergent (didn’t realise I liked that so much????) in which Ronan confides in Gansey, Adam confides in Blue, and these sons of bitches figure their shit out in the BEST possible way. Like. Great Gangsey. Great characterisation. BEST EVER SEXUAL TENSION. You HAVE to read this if you haven’t.

y’all I need help I am looking for a pynch fic that I cannot for the life of me find it was so good I wanna read it again….ok all I remember is that it was multi chapter, canon compliant, took place after trk and two plot points I remember are 1. Ronan doesn’t go to adams high school graduation and 2. Another one from the same series because they’re just SO GOOD! This one is both cute and incredibly in character, plus the book-ish vibes just fit the universe so well. Definitely one for a re-read.

I actually laughed out loud on the tube reading this. Just the right amounts of weirdness and slapstick. Also peak sassy Adam: “Are you having a stroke?”

Make a post recommending a fic you love from at least a year ago. Dust off the archives, dig through your AO3 history and share those old fics with newer fans who might not have seen them - and the fans who’ve been around forever and might want to revisit an old fave.
I worked in the library in college, so I have a certain soft spot for fics where Adam works in the campus library. I also have a soft spot for fics where Ronan finds Chainsaw and learns how to take care of a baby raven.
Smash those two things together, give it a punny title, and you get this week's rec, Check You Out by themidnightbagel. Ronan comes into the campus library looking for information on what to do with an injured Chainsaw, and Adam gets a lot more than he intended when he agrees to help this hot guy figure out how to raise a raven. It's a meet-cute tossed together with some smut, and it's an all-around fun time for everyone.
