Not over how Javik can read your emotions by a simple touch. How useful would it be if you're someone who didn't express themselves often? Maybe you don't even understand your own emotions half the time or recognition them, yet Javik can easily tell each wave going through you apart from its sisters.
Your tearless sadness, your joy with a lack of smiles, your unbotheted but secretly bothered expression. Any difficulty you might face when it comes to both traverse the bottomless oceans of your emotions, but also attempt to make something comprehensible out of them for others around you whilst battling the waves not to drown.
Because something we all come to terms with is accepting disappointment in love, that our loved ones simply can't read our mind, they can't know what we're feeling or thinking if we don't activity communicate it.
So we lower our standards, accept that mishaps and miscommunication will happen, become content with the imperfections of love.
Each one of us must have realised it at some point, that no matter how much you explained yourself to someone you care about, at times, they simply will not get it. It's one of the things in life you learn to get used to, a part of human nature to grow into.
Javik completely defies that law. He breaks out of the mould. Not only can he read your brain, but your emotions too! He senses your body, your flesh, your blood running through your veins and your heart beating so quietly in the middle of the chaos of chemistry and cell division happening around it. Holding so many secrets inside, so many untold things you simply can't choke out, so many unfulfilled dreams and desires.
Not only does he see them, but he feels them as well. For once, someone is truly understanding you, understanding how it feels, how intense it can get. No one but yourself in this life can share your own experience. No matter how hard anyone tries, it's simply impossible to fully understand someone else.
Yet he does it. With a simple touch at that, too. He feels your soul, connects to it for a second in time, and views the real you, vulnerable and bare from all masks you put around your loved ones, not to make them worry.
He is you for a second as he processes each single overwhelming emotion you've felt for so many years.
No wonder he constantly wants to touch people. It explains why he's the way he is, why his words are harsh, why his face is expressionless. He never had to fake it, he never had to communicate his feelings through all these unreliable ways. Protheons could simply press a finger against one another and get to peak inside each other's hearts.
Our clumsy ways just pale in comparison, we are primitive indeed.
How can we even compete with that? It takes a lot of effort to have the beginning of a beginning for a crack code to someone else's emotions, and they can achieve it in literal seconds. Something that would've taken us years of close bonds, time, and great attention to come close to.
He probably feels it too, the guilt and shame hiding in your bones from not being enough for his needs. How lonely he must be, constantly misunderstood by those around him who are stubborn in their old ways.
Is that why he doesn't like machines? can he not read them like organics, so he assumes they don't have a soul? Is he scared that his so called perfected method of communication, might also be just as flawed as the rest of ours?
Javik wouldn't acknowledge your fears with more than a single phrase about you not needing to concern yourself if you're not enough, he chose you so don't question his decision.
But oh you'll never know what goes in inside him, you will never feel the erupting affection at the fact you loved him so much you felt guilty for not being able to give him back what he has given you. You won't even be able to suspect how much his heart is fluttering in response for your worries about him, for your great care for him.
It's as equally sad as it is endearing, stuck in a cage of his own making for being simply too evolved.
Imagine if you went back in time to an era before humans learned to talk with words, and you had to adapt to everyone else's ways of using vague gestures and occasional grunts. Primitive, too much room for error, could not come close to how much talking expresses your feelings and thoughts with such precision.
That's what it must be like for him. But at least you're there, and he can tell your heart is true, your love is pure. And that makes it, just a little bit less lonely.
His world is a little bit less dim with you around, the only caveman who's paid attention to the words he's been using.

The Protheon fight actually has far more phases and attacks than I expected. Even on GMs we usually melted him pretty fast on each floor (or right at the top), so it was interesting to take it slow on purpose.

Specifically just did a side quest where Shepard touches a protheon object that sparks the me1 beacon vision but this time collectors are in it at the end.
And that's something that keeps Ezra awake that night (he hasn't had a Protheon Beacon Nightmare since being resurrected) and he's going to go roll around with Zaeed about it but his mind is still elsewhere through most of it and it doesn't really help and he ends up leaving promptly when they're done.
And Zaeed's starting to feel like an overglorified dildo.

fragment for the wip game?
Oh hello there anon! Thank you for asking ☺️
Surprisingly, I can only find this one in a very rough WIP that is still all bullet points or pieces of dialogue. Set in ME1, the idea is that Kaidan gets a blip of the vision from the Protheon beacon on Eden Prime before Jay throws him out of the way 👀
"Goddess!"
"What?"
"Just… that small fragment was so… strong. So emotional."

Compelling reasons for either Arc or Solar to get the 3.0 update
Arc:
It reeeeeaaaally needs it; Solar honestly has a lot going for it right now, each subclass has a nice toolbox to pull from exotic-wise that isn't "make super hit harder"
Bungie stated that certain aspects of the Synaptic Spear's gameplay are testbeds for Arc subclass design
Hunter monke armor + arc staff update = Monkey King vibes
Leak of the reprised Trespasser exotic sidearm
Solar:
This is going to be the summer season, especially with that whole "Bonfire Bash" thing in the EAZ this time around
"Trichromatica" ghost shell specifically calls out how Protheon's phases go Void -> Solar -> Arc (and I think the weekly burns rotate that way too but not sure; I know Hard Light et al go Void -> Arc -> Solar)
We may see Rasputin and/or Osiris reawaken this season, both are generally solar-affiliated.

What If Other Video Game Characters Where In Mass Effect?
I was inspired by the YouTube PopCross and his artistic crossovers and came up with one of my own in honour of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Doomslayer (Doom)
Following the discovery of the Protheon ruins on Mars a wave of new expeditions scrambled to scour the red planet for whatever else may be hidden beneath it's surface. One company in particular, the United Aerospace Corporation found something that defined explanation; asarcophagus marked with a strange red symbol and text, and without a doubt an occupant.  A partial translation read:
May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.
An ominous warning that only fuelled further curiosity and the need for further study, had the first contact war not occurred.  In the chaos the Prothean sarcophagus disappeared before it could be publicly revealed. Hidden away in secret by the the UAC's own founder, for he had manged to decipher the remaining text before any one else and it said:
Against all the horror's of the Reaper's return... Against all the wickedness the galaxy shall endure, we shall send unto you... Only him. Unleash the avatar of Doom.... Let him rip and tear, until it is done.
It may be decades until then, but Samuel Hayden will make sure to be alive to release this ancient warrior.
(Prothean Doomslayer just sounded amazing to me. And while Javik doesn't wear a helmet in game, something like this could be the Slayers)

Johnny Silverhand (Cyberpunk 2077)
"Never Fade Away." If anything could sum up the lifestyle of infamous Omega rocker and mercenary, it would be that lyric. One of the first Humans to make it out that far following Humanity's inclusion to the Galactic community back in the 2160's, he lived and died a raging flame, always lambasting the corporations which where slowly sinking their claws across the galaxy squeezing the life outta whatever they could get ahold of, whenever he wasn't getting blitzed on drugs and boozes, and burning anyone who got to close to him that is. When the AraGeni corp, took his on again, off again, girlfriend Alt Cunningham and subjected her to inhumane experiments, Silverhand went mental, somehow getting hold of mini-nuke powerful enough to destroy their colonial HQ, and launched an assault on the building, What exactly happened there remains a mystery to this day.
Some say he was killed fighting the cyborg, Adam Smasher, but Zaeed Massani, who had joined Silverhand's mission claims he was the one who fought and survived the "Metal bastard" and that Silverhand had mearly "Had the shit kicked outta him". However witnesses claim that just as they where being taken out of the blast zone, they spotted a man matching Johnny's description being airlifted to another location. If so the legendary rocker might still be alive, but if he is in the custody of A vengeful AraGeni, he might've been better off going out with a bang.
(I was picturing him still as a hologram AI, but one that can be summoned on an OmniTool as a hardlight projection, like a combat drone. So it's not as gruesome a fate as Cyberpunk since he can actually interact with things, but it's certainly not anything you'd want.)
Eltariel (Lord of the Rings: Shadow of War)
An Asari commando in service to a renowned, matriarch. Once an ally to a Turian soldier, Tallion, who'd lost everyone when the Reaper's struck Palavan and was taken by Cerberus and forcibly merged with implants and a Prothean AI based upon the persona of one of their Empires great leaders, Calibrim whose presence prevented indoctrination.
Freed by her, the trio fought together to push back the Reaper onslaught, with Tallion using his unique connection with Calibrim to override Reaper troopers and turning them against their creators, but the alliance soured when Tallion grew disgusted by Calibrim's increasingly ruthless tactics, which finally broke entirely when the AI attemptef to convert a dying human into another like him, releasing and allowing the poor man to die before it could happen.
Though Eltariel had no ill will towards her Turian comrade, she sided with the AI, believing the dire days ahead required drastic measures to defeat the Reaper's, a mandate set by her mistress she was determined to fulfil. Thus she accepted the AI when Tallion transferred him to her OmniTool. He no longer cared for their goals and would instead continue to fight on his own with what little time he had left before he was lost to the Reaper's influence, when that day comes Eltariel will be the one to grant him peace.

Mass effect 3 makes me so angry sometimes. I’m not even talking about the ending, I’ve made my peace with that, but some of the politics involved blows!
Like the Asari, supposedly an enlightened race, refuse to get involved in an alliance to help fight the reapers even though they’re the most advanced and (spoilers) are sitting on a cache of protheon information that could end the war. They don’t seem to understand the concept of pooling our resources until the last minute when their home world is attacked. Suddenly it “shame the alliance couldn’t send more air support.” Like no, fuck off. Where were you when Palavan was hit? Or earth?
And the Salarians. Some of, if not the the most intelligent people in the galaxy, refusing to get involved because we made friends with the Krogan. Guys, wrap your head around the idea that if we don’t ALL band together, then NONE of us will be around to deal with the consequences of curing the genaphage. Swallow your pride, round up your troops and join the fight. At least Kirrahe and Mordin knew what was what.

Okay, but imagine Javik, literal protheon who has god statues to the hanar, coddling this one human because you obviously can't look after yourself.
He just ends up looking like your servant, when in his mind he is showing the lesser race their place. So stay still while he helps puts the socks on your feet then tie your shoes for you.
Picks you up to carry you when he notices a sluggishness in your steps, so what if the two of you are in the middle of the citidal presidium? Ignore the gaggle of hanars following closely behind the two of you, chanting his praises, and ignore the gaggle of drell assassins following the hanar from the shadows to protect them.
He is still his condcending normal self, but shows his love in acts of service instead while commenting on how weak humans are and how your kind should've stayed in caves at least the reapers wouldn't be a threat to you know.
Getting you food when he feels you're hungry, oh yeah he reads your emotions a lot. You're minding your business and suddenly his hand is holding your face by the cheek as his four eyes stare unblinking into yours then deciding you need to drink water and grab a snack with vitamin C.
Here, give him the orange, he will peel it for you. Actually forget that he asked, he'll just reach over and take it himself without a word and peel it. He'd even handfeed you the orange slices over some dumb excuses that protheons are superior therefore let him do what he wants.
And what he wants just happened to be constantly looking over your needs and health, never asking for something in return.
You could stretch and lay your head on his lap and he'll let you stay as long as you'd like, even when you take a nap and his legs start falling asleep, he is a disciplined soldier and never moves a muscle.
Deep down, he really likes holding you in his arms. Protheons didn't get to see much of humanity before the reapers stole you away from them, might as well get his fill now of this intriguing race with soft skin and a fire in their eyes.

Dating a Vex Goblin would entail
Tumblr media
Lots of relatives, the vex all share thoughts along an interconnected network, so dating one is like dating everyone else within the network.
Trying to explain the concept of individualism, the idea behind having your own likes and dislikes instead of just responding to the network as a whole
Eventually finding out that despite being connected to an overall network, each vex has its own individual qualities, Like Atheon manipulating time, Protheon manipulating its own light fueled power source, and Quria Blade-Transform being able to understand the Sword Logic in its entirety.
Being taught how to communicate in rapid binary, which when translated into sound, is the screeching the vex make.  Eventually you are able to communicate entire pages of information in only a few seconds.
Being gifted different vex technologies, like living armor that translates outside stimuli into rapid binary, giving you almost precognitive reaction times, a teleportation system keyed to your specific light frequency, and multiple weapons from the vault of glass itself.
Learning of the chaotic battle in the infinite forest, of the last stand of the legendary guardian the vex only respectfully referred to as “The Lightning Demon”, and how they refuse to go near the simulation his body still rests in.
Knowing that even should the tower fall, should the traveler fall under siege once more, that you will be there, a hoard of unyielding metal at your side, and the strength of millions of minds at your back
Hey @dngrs-untld-hrshps-unnmbrd Put this on your masterlist, I think it’ll make a few people pretty happy.

Stuck with low light/power? Here are the steps you need, in order, to get the most out of your gameplay.
Before anything, go get your daily/weekly bounties. Then you can start:
1. Heroic Story Mission (Daily/Weekly)
2. Gambit (Daily/Weekly)
3. Strikes (Daily/Weekly)
4. Ikora’s Weekly Challenge. By this point you should have completed enough bounties (since you’ll have been completing several at the same time) to get your powerful engram.
5. Power Spider Bounty
7. Clan XP Engram. By this point you should have completed enough of Hawthorn’s bounties but if not, just grind a little more— it’s worth it!
8. Nightfall Strike Completion. Set your 5-of-Cards at the lowest difficulty. Set your elemental damage for whichever burn is least used by the enemies, especially not used by the boss (unless it’s Protheon, Modular Mind which uses all three types). It’s dangerous to go alone, bring a friend.
9. Nightfall Strike Score Challenge. You’re going to want a full Fireteam for this one. Using your 5-of-Cards, set your difficulty up to 2.25x. Your first modifier should be Match Game which gives you the highest point score. Next on the list should be Blackout which gives you the second most highest point score.  The next modifier can be anything you want but if you’re trying to get the best score possible, use Extinguish for a 30% boost. However, if your entire Fireteam dies, you’ll all get sent back into orbit and you’ll have to start from scratch. If you don’t want to risk it, then I suggest that you use Iron as your modifier instead. Whatever you decide, you and your Fireteam will need to clear over 100,000 points and you’re on a timer so hustle.
10. Petra Venj. Her weekly bounties give you powerful engrams but they take up the most time. Her daily bounties are easy to do and usually include several patrols and a lost sector.
11. Ascendant Challenge. You’re already in the Dreaming City so why not have a go? If you get bored while completing Petra’s bounties, you can just go over to the portal (which changes location weekly), drink your Tincture of Queensfoil, and away you go!
12. Last Wish Raid. Good luck.
(edit: originally typed Brakion instead of Protheon, I get their names confused)

Grabor got a encrypted message from an unknown source. It took a few days to decrypt but inside the message were coordinates to Nessus, deep inside The Infinite Spire, where Protheon met his end.
Grabor wondered who on earth could have sent this to him, and decided to throw caution to the wind and investigate. He arrived at the Infinite Spire, and slowly began his descent.

For Myssmara: 160: “ Do you think you can teach me that? ”
[200 Writing Prompts]
160 - “Do you think you can teach me that?”with @amara-the-average-hunter ❤️💜
The Hunters were spending a lazy Sunday in their apartment, having no obligations on their plate until the next morning. Myss was reading the news and lounging in her hammock by the large window-wall, while Amara was busy cooking something yummy in the kitchen. The two enjoyed contented silence, with quiet music playing in the background, and their Ghosts lazily hung about in the vicinity.
Myss, her mind slowly losing its current occupation, glanced over towards Amara. She smiled, thinking happy thoughts as she watched her girlfriend work her magic with their food.
Amara suddenly turned her head, looking back over her shoulder, towards where Myss lay. Her eyebrows were knitted together in confusion, and Myss looked away before their eyes could meet.
“Myss?” Amara asked, hand moving to rub against the back of her head. She seemed to not know how to finish her question.
“Yes, love?” Myss responded innocently, halo almost visible above her head.
Amara squinted, looking away, and then back again. “Did you… throw something?”
Myss shook her head, and Amara shrugged. Then, Myss repeated her previous actions, garnering the same response from her girlfriend.
“Okay, stop throwing shit, Myss.” Amara reprimands, turning to fully face Myss. “I’m trying to make dinner.”
“I’m not!” Myss says with a shrug, but tries a third time. “I promise.”
“What the fu–” Amara stops in her double take, a memory suddenly coming to her. “Wait, this feels familiar…” She looks at Myss. “What’re you doing?”
“Uh... Awoken Mind shit?” Myss says, peeking over the edge of her hammock. “I’m not fully sure how it works yet.”
“Mind shit?” Amara asks. An idea comes to her, and she brings a memory to the forefront of her mind, testing a theory.
Myss’ cheeks begin emitting a soft glow, though she’s not entirely sure why. “What’re you…?” She asks, confused.
“Can you see it?” Amara questions, approaching the hammock.
“No…” Myss replies, squinting. “What’re you thinking about?”
“Take a wild guess.” Amara says, raising an eyebrow.
“…Right.” Myss says.
A moment of silence follows, and Amara is the first to speak up. “Can you teach me?”
“I… I don’t know.” Myss says. “I’m pretty sure it’s just an Awoken thing.”
“Well…” Amara pauses. “Can I help you?”
“I…” Myss begins, not expecting this turn of events. “Sure, I guess. Um…” She sighs, hopping out of the hammock. “Someone taught me some tricks a while back, before we met. Let’s see…”
Amara goes to shut off their dinner, while Myss closes the curtains in their living room. It was mid-afternoon, but their curtains made it feel like midnight when they were drawn.
“Okay, um…” Myss says, sitting cross-legged on the floor, her aura outlining her silhouette in the dark room. “Sit across from me.”
Amara does as she’s told, sitting knee-to-knee with her girlfriend. “This good?” She asks.
Myss nods, reaching out for Amara’s hands, taking them gently when they’re found. She can see almost nothing of Amara, only light reflections from her own glowing eyes, and where the silhouette from the aura on her hands was cut off.
Amara, however, could see Myss’ full outline, and her eyes glowed brightly in the dark room. She could hear Myss’ inhale, and then saw her eyes close, mimicking her actions.
Myss, after a few moments, remembers what it felt like looking for Amara beneath the ice. Good memories are brought to the front of her mind, encouraging her mental hand to reach out to the cause. This time, the hand connects almost immediately, thanks to the proximity and the contact they shared.
Amara winces, remembering the familiar feeling at the base of her skull. This time it didn’t feel like a thumping, but rather a light caress, as if Myss was about to take her hand. She wanted to lace her girlfriend’s mental fingers with her own, but it was as if her own mental hand ended in a stump. She couldn’t find the ability to articulate it as well as Myss seemed to, and was left yearning for the fullness of the possible contact, of what they could share if she was an Awoken. Instead, to compensate, Amara laces her own, real, fingers with Myss’.
Myss inhales deeply, feeling her way around what she could of Amara’s mind. She tried to find something to hold onto but, like when Amara was trapped, she could only find a smooth, impenetrable barrier. It frustrated her, but she tried to figure out what she could do with it.
Amara can feel the feather-light caresses moving around her mind. It’s a foreign sensation, one that might make her nauseous if she didn’t know the source. Her mind wasn’t wired for this kind of contact, but she remained resilient nonetheless. Her idea from earlier returns to her, and she begins replaying memories to test Myss’ mental vision.
Almost like it was being viewed through frosted glass, Myss can sense the memory being replayed on the other side of the barrier. She takes a moment to focus, to feel for the emotions behind it in order to determine which it was.
She feels a heavy heartbeat, anticipation, and then fear, shock, and disappointment. Frowning, she whispers. “Bun squad…”
Amara chuckles, amazed. “Correct.” She praises, bringing up the next memory.
Pride, companionship, an undertone of something blossoming, accomplishment. “Protheon’s a bitch.”
Amara’s smile grows. “He was.” Next.
Euphoria, connection, belonging, unity. Myss tightens her grip on Amara’s hands. She hums the familiar tune Terrance taught her.
Amara hums as well, summoning another.
Elation, exhaustion, lust. She felt her cheeks brighten. “Not now, ‘Mara.”
“Dammit.” Amara whispered, but there’s a smile in her voice.
Completeness, simplicity, synergy, protectiveness. Myss shook her head. “Prospero.”
Amara smiled, summoning one last thought.
There was no memory, only raw emotions pushing against the barrier. Awe, lightheadedness, adoration, admiration, envy, amazement, illumination, attraction. Myss’ eyes open, overwhelmed with the onslaught, searching for her girlfriend’s face in the dark.
Amara feels her looking, and helps her along when she feels the mental connection loosening. Their lips meet, and Amara can feel everything she showed Myss returned in her kiss.
“That’s so cool…” Amara whispers once they break. “You could see my memories?”
“Not exactly.” Myss clarifies, reaffirming the connection, allowing Amara to get used to her mental presence. “I can’t see them, but I could feel the… emotions that came with them.” She smiles, praising her girlfriend. “They’re very strong.”
Amara smiles, leaning up on her knees to place a kiss to where she knew Myss’ forehead marking hid in the dark. “That’s just how they are when I’m thinking about you.” She says, scooting to straddle Myss’ lap.
“That’s good.” Myss replies, wrapping her arms around Amara. “That’ll really help me hone my skills. Makes it easy to see ‘em when they’re so strong.”
“I’ll have to tone it down.” Amara says, pulling herself flush against Myss. “To give you a challenge.”
“In the future, maybe.” Myss agrees, leaning against Amara’s chest. “But for now, I like them as strong as they are.”
“Good.” Amara nods. “Because they’re not toning down anytime soon.”
