Ian had been through more than his fair share of trauma, and Mickey knew that better than anyone. So naturally, Mickey's protective instincts were always on high alert when it came to his boyfriend...
One evening, they decided to go out for a drink at a new dive bar. It was a quiet night until a group of rowdy patrons started causing trouble. Ian accidentally bumped into one of them, a burly guy with a short temper.
“Watch where you’re going, fuck-face” the drunk man coughed out, getting up in Ian’s face so close he could smell the liquor on his breath.
Mickey's eyes flashed with rage as he stepped between Ian and the aggressive stranger.
"You got a problem?" Mickey growled, his voice low and dangerous.
The guy sneered at Mickey but backed off, not wanting to mess with the Milkovichs. Mickey's reputation was well-known, and most folks knew better than to cross him.
Ian watched in awe as Mickey's protective side took over. He couldn't help but feel a warm sense of security knowing that Mickey was here to keep him safe.
“Thanks.” Ian said softly once they got seated in a booth towards the back.
“For what?” Mickey snorts, Ian’s never ending gratitude still being a hard adjustment for him after all this time.
“For protecting me.”
“Ian,” Mickey sighs, shaking his head, “you don’t need to thank me for that- it’s part of my job description.”
Ian grins widely, reaching his hand across the table to hold Mickey’s. Suddenly, Mickey’s focus is taken off Ian as he stares across the other side of the bar. Before Ian can even turn around to see what he was staring at, Mickey was already letting go of his hand, kissing it tenderly.
“I’ll be right back.” Mickey says, and with that he makes his way out of the booth and across the bar to the guy who’s been staring Ian down, “You need to learn to keep your eyes off other people’s husbands, you got that?”
“Whatever you say, Princess. Just shut up and let me enjoy the view.” he scoffs, taking a gulp of his beer before turning back to look at Ian.
“You know what?” Mickey chuckles to himself as he feels his blood begin to boil, “Go fuck yourself” he says, snatching the beer bottle from the guys hand and smashing it over his head.
A few gasps from less well-seasoned patrons later and the guy was out on the floor cold, blood pouring from his nose.
“We should probably go.” Ian says, appearing behind him.
“Yeah, you’re right.”
As they walked home, Ian couldn't resist teasing Mickey a little. "You know, Mick, you don't have to beat up every jerk who looks at me the wrong way."
Mickey huffed, his protective anger still simmering beneath the surface. "I thought you liked that about me?”
“I do, but we’re running out of bars to go to where you haven’t beat someone up.”
“Yeah, well, it’s not my fault they can’t keep their eyes off a married man. They better learn some fucking respect. I can't stand seeing anyone think they have a chance of fucking you. You’re way out of everyone’s league, and I don’t mind reminding those idiots of that fact even if it means knocking some sense into 'em."
Ian grinned like a dork, “I know you do it because you care, Mickey. And it makes me feel safer than I've ever felt in my life."
Mickey softened, wrapping an arm around Ian's shoulder. "You're my everything, Ian. I'll always protect you, no matter what."

Love your recommendations do you have any good story’s were Mickey is juts so soft towards Ian and head over hells type stuff but in his Mickey type why . Extra points if Ian is going thew some stuff and Mickey protects/tack cares of him

Tell Me
Ian was sitting on the couch, the television on, an episode of The Office, hell a whole marathon on of it.
He hadn't laughed once, or snorted, or even mimicked some of the lines.
He was just looking ahead, not really focused on the screen, his eyes unfocused.
Mickey walked into the living room, watching Ian closely as he walked in front of him and sat next to him on the couch.
Ian's eyes seemed to track him as he walked, but it was more like he was seeing movement, not Mickey moving.
"Hey." Mickey greeted sitting next to him on the couch.
Ian turned to him, a smile on his face, "Hey."
The smile wasn't real, Ian could feel it fake and plastered on his face, Mickey could tell it wasn't real too, Ian could tell by the way his brows knitted together.
Mickey looked at Ian carefully, not wanting to say the wrong thing, but also not wanting to say nothing.
"Did you go outside today?" He asked his husband gently, nudging his knee with his own.
"For a little bit, went out and touched some grass." Ian joked.
Even his voice was off, his jokes were off.
Mickey's mouth twitched upwards slightly.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked softly.

Today I have done a lot of thinking about fictional charachters because...well my day has beeen horrible and its been better than thinking about that.
I saw a clip of shameless S1 where Mickey is dirty and unclean and I remember how a lot of people have said maybe he didn't really care until Ian came along or started to try for Ian. And sure, that may be part of it, but in my experience, there are so many other reasons people are unclean for, and I think a few would apply to Mickey.
1. I think part of the reasons he is reguarly covered in dirt is that being dirty tends to hide or blend in bruises. It is not going to work completely but enough to make people wonder if that is dirt or a bruise, or if they are seeing it properly. I imagine Terry wasn't light handed in beatings, and the kids were expected to cover for it. While teenage Mickey could say he was in a fight younger Mickey would have easily used that just some days old dirt excuse.
2. Lack of hot water or just water in his house. I don't think paying the bills on time was high on Terry's list either, and we know the house was basically a dump. It wouldnt surprise me if they reguarly had no hot water or if they did it run out quickly with the old water heater and you did not want to be the one causing Terry to have a cold shower. Or he saved the hot water for Mandy because he knows she actually really cares about her appearance and being clean
3. As a reason not to have to be with girls. In his first episode, Karen mentions that maybe Mickey is coming to find her to ask her out again and then says basically says along the lines of "I wouldn't because he smells like shit.' Being unclean and dirty means girls are less likely to want to go out with him, so he can ask the girls who he knows will say no then have it be that they are a b***ch who said no, or she don't know what she missing. He comes out of looking like her really doesn't care he got turned down but still leaves the impression his into girls. It is like a protective layer
4. I think caring about your appearance and the way you're dressed is something Mickey's dad would find pansy. Which Ugh, Terry is the worst.
5. I don't think some people really understand how vulnerable being naked in a place you dont feel safe in is. I feel like if Terry is mad, drunk, or just desires it, he would be more than happy to come for you. Being naked and unprepared is not a fun thought. So Mickey saves his showers for when he is sure his alone becauze like hell he is trusting that flimsy lock on the door (if there even is one cause Svetlana just walks in with a hammer on Ian)
Sure maybe once Ian comes along that is more incentive to be clean and presentable but I think he really starts to be clean is season 4 onwards where he knows and admits how much Ian means to him and that he loves him, no longer has go pretend to be into girls (his out or he has the excuse of his married) but also when his dad is in jail and maybe the bills are getting paid, maybe he feels safer in the house.
I just hate the common thinking of, that person is unclean because they don't care. That is rarely the real reason in my experience.

No, but I find it really interesting how similar Ian and Mandy are.
They are both such beautiful, traumatised characters that feel so haunted at times. They both love with all their heart. They both are incredibly nurturing towards Liam, Debbie and Carl. They both search for affirmation through their sexuality. They were both damaged way too young. They both suffered at the hands of Terry Milkovich. They both experience SA. They both have complicated relationships with sex. They both turn to prostitution at some point in their lives. They both care for Mickey so much. They both want to fight for the people they love. They're both used for their bodies. They both fall in love with their best friend's brother. They're both heart broken. They both leave Chicago.
They both deserve so much better.

you know something i loved about the whole mickey and his dad situation it's that mickey could move on without forgiveness. he didn't need to forgive his dad to move on because when people hurt you so so so deeply or make your life a living hell in mickey's case you dont have to accept any apologize or have any type of conversation, you don't have to forgive anyone to continue with your life. it's a very stupid speech/mentality, you can move on because they only thing you need for your peace and mental health is to be away from that people.
and mickey just needed that, he needed to he away from his dad, he needed to find the people that could give him a safe place. he didn't need to forgive a son of a bitch that traumatize him. and i liked that, i liked that even though they had that brief emotional conversation mickey didn't want or need to forgive him or accept his apologize, he needed people that loved him and cared about him not that.
and while im here, just so you know you don't need to forgive people that hurt you if you don't want to, if you don't need it. you can move on and it's okay
