can we see a snippet of a shower scene from derek's time in prison?
just one shower, any shower, pls
did not proofread, cannot be tagging folks, this was supposed to be a super quick little ask game thing but it got away from me a little bit
cw: noncon shower , noncon touch , noncon nudity , prison setting
✥ ✥ ✥
Derek hadn’t showered in days. When they finally came for him, it had been nine, he thought. He had tried, initially. Every day when it was his unit’s turn, when the guards banged on the cell door and shouted words that were incomprehensible to him, but understood by the others, he had followed suit.
He had wrapped his arms around his stomach and kept his eyes on the wall and, even then, even when he made himself as small and invisible as he could, people noticed him. He learned quickly that the showers were not a place he wanted to be.
After those first couple weeks, he stopped going all together. At first, no one seemed to care. They could find other ways to torment him, and they did, so his suffering wasn’t worth the fight of dragging him through the prison and depositing him into the cement box full of rusty shower heads and blood-stained drains.
Today, though, after everyone left the cell, a guard hovered in the doorway. Derek shrunk back into the corner of the room, his corner, now, where he had carved out a place to sleep, to eat, to sometimes read or draw. It was partitioned off by the bottoms of two adjacent beds, and although that made his corner small, it gave him the illusion of safety.
Sometimes.
The guard narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Derek’s sliver of the cell, and barked a drawn out command in Turkish. They all knew he didn’t understand, and at this point, they usually didn’t bother speaking to him at all. He looked down at his hands, waiting for whatever came next.
When two additional guards closed in on him, he didn’t look up. He watched his fingers work together, watched as his own limbs started to shake, while heavy footfalls, hushed conversation, scoffs and laughter, came nearer and nearer and eventually, as calloused hands gripped into his shoulders, hauling him up.
The guards turned their commands toward him, over and over, louder and louder, and with each word, Derek retreated further inside of himself until his eyes closed, his mind singularly focused on surviving this– whatever this would become. The crack of knuckles across his cheekbone brought him back momentarily, long enough to get his footing and then lose it, long enough to see men, rows and rows of men inside of their cages, watching as his body was dragged through the long corridor.
He didn’t fight as his clothes were ripped off of him, or as he was shoved under one of the showers. He felt the burn of tears behind closed eyelids, and he crumpled to the floor, but he didn’t fight.
One of the guards, one who had taken a particular interest in him, spoke quickly to another; their fingers dug into his wrists as they lifted him, and still, he didn’t fight. When they turned the water on, the frigid stream instantly laying its own assault on him, he cowed, and something close to a whimper escaped him.
All three guards laughed, and the two released their hold on his wrists, shoving him once more into the wall.
“You stink,” one of them said, pushing a bar of soap into his hands. Derek shook as he accepted the silent cue, and as quickly as he could, ran the bar over himself. He was painfully aware of their eyes tracking every movement, but the freezing water, the days of too little food and too little sleep, the beatings and the laughter and the tears and cold, made it hard for him to care. He finished quickly, too quickly, and the guard closed the distance between them, took the soap from his hand, and vigorously scrubbed every inch of Derek’s trembling form.
Derek wasn’t sure when he had started crying, but the heat of the tears that slid down his cheeks drew his attention to the fact, and he closed his eyes, and he slid to the floor as the water was finally turned off.
He was left like that, that day, on the cement floor, shivering, with no towel, and no clothes, and not a single soul in that prison who had any intention of helping him.

if you're a fan of the mechanisms i solemnly warn you NOT to read their literature on their website because there's literally no way to be normal again after you've read the prisoner of dorian gray

So if Querl did have claws it feels like he'd put so much effort into keeping them trimmed and as normal as possible. Colu would definitely try to suppress any sign of Gryxian in the bloodline and he'd probably internalise that message no matter what he tried to do, and see the claws as another reminder of his family's indiscretions. He'd feel proud of not having to wear gloves to hide them because it'd be sign of how good he is at suppressing it (to him and him alone because he'd tell no one).

What kind of music do you think Roy and Jamie like?
The moment Roy said The Stranger by Billy Joel is a perfect album I literally kicked my feet up like a gleeful school girl. That clicked so well for me. Of course, he listens to Dad music! You know he's upset when he comes home and "Innocent Man" is blasting from the car windows. He has like 2-3 artists he likes (lbr 3 is pushing it) and has been listening to on loop for 15 years. I don't know who the other 3 musicians are but I suspect Springsteen (too American?) and Coldplay, even though they're kinda a joke in the UK now. Also Sade. Remember 80% of his playlist for Keeley was Sade songs. Most of his music is mellow. He enjoys a good showtune and Disney song, even in the trenches of toxic masculinity he would tacitly admit to this. (I suspect this was some off-screen, reluctant bonding with Ted).
Jamie obviously has a wider taste in music, shaped in part by Georgie ("Stevie Nicks? Tina Turner?" But also, like, the Spice Girls. Georgie was definitely Ginger Spice for Halloween once. And that was not the first time he'd done the N'sync Bye, Bye dance). He'll definitely listen to a little bit of everything, but gravitates towards strong pop vocalists. Dunster's playlist for him is what I suspect he'd listen to, love the Drake and Aitch, but with some old school standards sprinkled in - Queen, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones.
I never thought of Jamie being that drawn to music before this ask, outside of being a good dancer. I assumed fandom just put that on him because Dunster himself is a singer. But there are actually sooo many canon instances of him mentioning music, and he used to wear those big, quality headphones a lot in S1 that made him look like a teen tuning Ted out, he considers himself a bit of an entertainer, he's definitely a sensory type... Interesting. I underestimated that part of him.

Funniest thing ever to me still is an article I came across while trying to find photos of my dorm when it was first built. It was a student article claiming my dorm (beloved) looked like a prison and this was terrible for student learning because theres a prison that has a similar style. And my favorite thing is there's another set of dorms on campus with no characters, just a Grey rectangle with tiny slit windows, and you want to say the dorm made from bricks with fun arches and bay windows is the one that is prison like?

sorryf im being mentally ill about hallucination event right now SO in the LCSyS au, would there be something like it :o? Like after all of it's over or something, how crazy would it be if Jackalope tried to get them all together just to do one last concert?
Never apologize for being mentally ill about Milgram content 😌👍 We are all in it together 😔👍I'm combining this answer with a reply to @kikithedeceiver (and spiraling out of control from both)
Tumblr media
I've had a lot of ideas about the project being public in LCSyS, but was holding off including it for few reasons – the audience’s voices would conflict with Es as their own character. Knowing the public was watching would change the way the prisoners acted (even if they thought they were acting natural). It’s a long time that the families would have to deal with the public knowing about their loved one’s almost-crime. I also like the idea of this au ending with the prisoners returning to very normal lives.
Buuuuut it is such a fun idea, and popularity seems an essential part of an actors au. So, I’m not naming this as canon, but here’s a pitch if you liked that idea and wanted to run with it :3
The team doesn’t tell the participants that they’ve been recording/collecting certain material to release. If a translation is left out by accident, the prisoners just assume it’s for a foreign team member – they have no idea how close/far Milgram reaches.
The third trial begins. The prisoners are inside the prison, and on the final stretch of the trials. On the outside, Jackalope contacts families for signatures to release the material publicly. The team thought about censoring names and things, but seeing current fans’ investigation skills, they knew it was a matter of time before they put pieces together anyway. This may be super illegal but for the sake of the story I’ll say that family consent is enough lmao.
Some of them are easy to convince to sign off on everything, since it can raise awareness for their loved one’s struggles. Muu’s family takes the longest, as it would risk ruining their reputation. (They’re only swayed because it truly is a great opportunity to show off Muu’s talents for those modeling scouts, and she didn’t actually kill anyone in the end.) Kazui’s family refuses to release his info, but Hinako uses sway with her marital status to sign off instead (I pictured things happening fast enough where she hasn’t gotten an official divorce yet). Hinako still struggles with what he did, but she thinks he’s doing something incredibly brave now. I’m not 100% sure what’s going through Amane’s father’s mind, but if the murder really was in line with the cult’s beliefs, maybe he believes that Amane will be be a shining representation of their religion. He wants to show her off as their little golden child.
The experiment is published in its current form: music videos, voice dramas, timeline conversations, interrogation questions, etc. It’s brought to more than just science/psychology circles, though. Jackalope has no shame in marketing it as entertainment, hence the stockholders mentioned. He assures the sociologists that this will be a major breakthrough for them. He tells music labels he's got the new hit thing for them. He leans into the excitement of releases and merchandise in the hopes of gaining attention for the experiment. Needless to say, it works. Even though the audience has no sway over Es’ decisions, they are encouraged to make decisions for themselves on what they would judge each prisoner. There’s the same types of theory/analysis/discourse posts passed around.
When the trials end, the prisoners are released into the world to find they’re famous. Instead of trudging back to their lives feeling that society hates them, they find tons of adoring fans telling them how much they understand and forgive them. Even if their final verdict was guilty, they have hundreds of voices assuring them that they are loved. That they are not alone. This attention really helps Haruka, Amane, (and maybe Es) who don’t have a good home to go back to. Not only can they reenter society, they are welcomed with open arms. They are looked after and showered in love. Some of the adults realize they want to use this popularity to lead the charge of social change. They create/support projects meant to help people who are facing their struggles.
And of course, there’s the other type of fame as well. Yuno loves answering fanmail and turning her karaoke hobby into a music career. Kazui goes from a life of feeling rejected and disgusting to scrolling through comments upon comments of men oogling him. Mahiru gets offers from fashion magazines and blogs to write up sections about self-love. Amane gets to live out her dream of being a performer, hinted at in her first two mvs. Fuuta is flustered by all the positive attention his appearance/voice is getting. Mikoto… well, I just wish him luck when he opens tiktok…
Which brings us to the live event! The prisoners have tried to keep in touch while adjusting to their new lives as almost-murderers-turned-idols. They’re amazed at how well-recieved the trial songs were. Those were some of their most personal, shameful secrets, and people relate to them? People love singing them?? People want a concert featuring them??? Jackalope encourages them to get together for one last encore. Some are thrilled with the opportunity, others are still nervous about the whole thing. Some think it’s in poor taste, that Jackalope is milking them for entertainment. But with a bit of conversing amongst themselves, they realize they all want a chance to sing like that again, and see each other in one place again. (It’s ironic because in my head Mahiru is the one to convince everyone to come ;--;)
It’s strange putting on the uniforms again. Es is unsure about putting on their guard’s cloak. But the minute they stop onstage, they’re met with wild applause. They can sing their fears and dreams to a huge crowd and see in real time how it’s reaching others. They hear the cheers after each song. They hear that it’s streamed all over the world. All of them have an absolute blast, and pour their heart and soul into their performances.

Addendum to S06E08 now that I had a chance to rewatch:
The prisoners who called Charlie fish, I’m sure in another show they’d call him something else entirely.
I will never understand how they convince people to confess to smaller crimes and then they truly don’t report them.
I liked that Jesse was trying to reassure Sarah that he double checked the inmates list when they found out Ben Draper was transferred in the same wing as Charlie. I liked that he went to her for it. As a chain of command thing, there’s no reason to do it but he did it because he knew how worried she was about the whole thing.
Charlie being totally dismissive of a life threatening injury and saying that it will make a good scar… Like, someone needs to talk some sense to him.
I can’t believe he was inside a prison and didn’t get at least a little beaten up. Yeah, he got nicked in the brachial artery and almost died but not even a punch?
