Another warriors family tree. This one combos Mapleshade and Birchface’s relatives.
Also see my Dappletail and Firestar trees :)
Notes on changes from canon below!
Rabbitfur is Mapleshade’s maternal grandfather. Maple’s mother died before the events of MV. He follows Maple into exile.
Seedpelt is Maple’s father. He became distant from his kits after his mate’s passing and turned his back on Maple when she was banished.
Eaglestorm and Squirrelwhisker had Windflight when they were older warriors and Sweetbriar is the sister of Squirrel.
Both Sweetbriar and Oakstar were very young when they had their first litter. Sweet was upset with Oak after Maple’s banishment and the two attempted to repair their relationship with another litter.
Reedshine is the daughter of Darkstar, which is why she had the influence to keep Appledusk from being exiled. Despite this, she never really forgave him for his double life. Applefrost is now Cherryfrost.
Mapleshade and Fallowsong are sisters. They were close during their apprenticeship but became more distant as warriors. When Maple was exiled, Fallow protested but quickly grew quiet when threatened with exile herself. While there halfclan relationships are against the code, most cats of the clans turn a blind eye to it. The biggest reason Oakstar chose to exile Mapleshade was her relationship specifically with Appledusk and his initial belief that her kits were his grandchildren.
Frecklewish is now Frecklecloud.
While he was alive, Birchface and Mapleshade became closer when they mentors together. Birch mentored Flowerpaw while Maple mentored her sister, Harepaw, later Harepounce. They never had romantic feelings for each other however.
Pinestar is the full brother of Frecklecloud and Birchface. When he left the clans, he was given the name Henry by his housefolk. He lived a long life there.
Littlestep is the brother of Larksong.
Part of Mapleshade’s hatred for Appledusk’s lineage is Willownose’s relationship with Little. As the relationship was never revealed, she faced no consequences for a relationship with a ThunderClan cat.
When Mapleshade crosses the river, Patchkit is the sole survivor, as he was being carried by Rabbitfur, who managed to avoid the wave that swept Maple and her kits into the river. When RiverClan refuses them they move into the barn. Maple leaves on her quest for revenge and never returns. Patchkit takes on the name Patches and lives a long life as a housecat, having kits himself. Mapleshade is the Great great grandmother of Scourge.
Snowfur is now Snowstorm. Her son is named after her.
Stonefur’s name is now Stonetalon.
Tawnypelt and Bramblestar are Tawnystar and Brambleflower respectively. Blackstar dies soon after Sol is chased out and Russetstar (Russetfur) is leader when the Kin take over. Tawnyclaw becomes leader after she dies. Bramble is briefly deputy but steps down after Hawkfrost dies. He and Squirrelflight are like siblings though he does step up to help raise her kits.

Warrior Cats Twenty Questions
Figured I’d answer these, since it’ll be pretty long I’ll put it under a read more
1. How did you get into Warriors?: I can’t really remember at this point? It was some time in middle school. I think my cousin was interested in them and showed them to me in the library. All I remember is that the first book I read was Eclipse and I was hella confused.
2. Favorite Arc: I’ve only read up to like half of oots but I think I have to say the first one? It’s just the best written and a majority of my favorite characters are in it.
3. Favorite Book (excluding mangas, super editions, novellas): This is hard considering how long it’s been since I read the books but I think it’s a tie between Fire and Ice and Forest of Secrets.
4. Favorite Super Edition, Novella, or Manga: Tallstar’s Revenge. Literally no contest, it’s probably the only warriors book I’d actively recommend to someone else.
5. Favorite Clan: Windclan. Mostly because of Tallstar’s Revenge, but I also really loved the Windclan cats in the first series. They just seemed much more passive and connected then the other clans.
6. Favorite Character: Graystripe. Admittedly, I’m just very very nostalgic for who he was in the first book. His introduction was the whole reason I kept reading and ended up falling in love with the series.
7. Least Favorite Character: Tigerstar the first. Fuck this guy. Enough said.
8. Most Aesthetically Pleasing Cat: I really love how people draw Dovewing actually, like very fluffy and short with the little mask. Ferncloud, Squirrelflight, and Frostpaw are all very cute too.
9. Favorite Leader: I want to say Tallstar but I think I just liked him a lot as a warrior. I guess Firestar? That feels like a lame answer and he didn’t do much as a leader but I still think he was a good leader which I can’t say about... most Warrior Cat leaders.
10. Favorite Villain: Mapleshade. Say what you will about her outside of her novela but Mapleshade was nuanced and way more interesting then ‘brown tabby 700.’ Also Snowtuft? I’m not sure if he even counts but he’s my skrunkly.
11. Favorite Medicine Cat: Cinderpelt. Listen, I love a lot of medicine cats, but Cinder is literally one of my favorite characters in the whole series. Like, she’s my daughter and I love her.
12. Overrated Character: Daisy. She hardly shows up? And all I remember about her is that she insulted Brightheart basically immediately and that she was a den mom. Like I don’t understand why people love her so much.
13. Underrated Character: Deadfoot. Most people only remember him from that prologue in Midnight where he pulled nepotism and picked Crowfeather for the journey but in Tallstar’s Revenge he was actually fucking adorable. Interesting enough he was born with the twisted paw and he’s one of the few Warrior Cats I can think of who became a warrior even with a disability (because the Erins are ableist-), also Tallstar and him are half-brothers. I find him fascinating and I really wish he’d been a leader.
14. Favorite Minor Character: Does Swiftpaw count? I mean- he wasn’t exactly in the story for very long. I’m gonna say he counts. Anyway- yeah, Swiftpaw. He’s one of those characters I wanna stick under a microscope and study.
15. Favorite Pairing: Squirrelcrow (Squirrelflight x Crowfeather).
16. Least Favorite Pairing: Firetiger (Firestar x Tiger(claw)star) just... no.
17. Favorite Friendship: Crowfeather and Feathertail as friends is the highlight of my life (honestly there’s a lot I could put here but I don’t have a lot of friendships I don’t ship in some capacity so...).
18. Favorite Moment: The training scene in Into the Wild where Ravenpaw ends up catching an snake. Listen, I’m so nostalgia blind, but I love the main trio in that book so fucking much. Peak Warrior Cats.
19. Most Tragic Death: The death of Mapleshade’s kits really messes with me. All kit deaths do but those especially because it was completely avoidable and they had no idea what was going on.
20. Favorite Battle / Fight Scene: The end of Into the Wild with the raid on Shadowclan was iconic.

Warrior Cats: Sinners all

Are Warrior Cats a Cult?
This essay does discuss some very twisted theology (religion), so if you are not in a place to do so, please avoid this. This essay is also not here to dispute the villain status of some of these characters. Simply to ask questions about it.
This recent change of Frecklewish's status in canon started a discussion, one that I feel has been a long time coming.
Who deserves to go to the Dark Forest and who does not is something the books flip flop about, especially since StarClan is far from omnipotent or wise.
I call this the Darkstripe and Hawkfrost problem, where these two cats are tied to a worse bad guy and so are doomed to cat hell. Both cats are not saints, but their actions are not unique among the clans.
To start with, one of the Warrior Code tenets is that a warrior should not kill another cat unless there is an absolute need to do so. Yet, even at the end of the first arc, this rule is ignored.
Why did Firestar kill Scourge and not just wound him and chase him off? Or why did Graystripe kill Darkstripe and not just wounded him? In both cases, the answer is Doylist rather than Watsonian; Scourge and Darkstripe are bad guys. They need to be dealt with and often the easiest way is to kill.
Yet, the Warrior Code is clear; you shouldn't kill if you can help it. Those who kill aren't following the Code in spirit, only in letter.
This behaviour does set up a few precedents for the future arcs and canon. For example, Badgerpaw was a kit and yet he was slain in combat. Not by a rogue, but another warrior from a different clan. Death in battle is seemingly a very common thing in Warriors, despite the Code once more forbidding overusing it.
So why is Hawkfrost killing Firestar worthy of the Dark Forest? Killing the leader of another clan is not forbidden any more than killing in general. In fact, given the leaders have their extra lives, killing them is not technically -actually- killing them.
All of this is pretty lawyerish reasoning, I admit. But it serves to point out that the warriors turn a blind eye to certain StarClan given rules if it is convenient for them. Yet, who gets punished by the narrative has little to do with what rules were broken.
Ashfur might as well be the definition of this unfairness, as he was willing to aid in the murder of his clan leader just because that clan leader was the father of his ex-mate. While Hawkfrost's actions could be considered a method to weaken a rival clan, the only thing Ashfur got from this deal was simply making a clanmate suffer.
He also sets up to murder the Chosen Three, once again out of spite for his ex-mate and no other reason.
Twice now, Ashfur has shown grievous disregard to the code and unlike most who broke the 'no kill' rule, his motives weren't even to make his clan stronger.
Yet, Ashfur gets to join StarClan despite his actions. While Hawkfrost and Darkstripe, both whose motives were at least vaguely in loyalty to their clan/leader, went to the Dark Forest. It isn't even that Hawkfrost and Darkstripe were thrown into cat hell for the heresy of being Tigerstar allies because Ashfur both rejected the StarClan chosen leader AND was willing to murder the Chosen Ones.
That Ashfur eventually became a villain and got his just desserts does not erase that he was accepted into cat heaven without being punished for his actions.
All of this leads to Frecklewish and her fate in the Dark Forest. As we have already established, breaking the Code is not an automatic cat hell. Not only that, but the death of those outside the clan is acceptable. In fact, Appledusk kills two Thunderclan cats at the start of Mapleshade's Vengeance and HE is in Starclan.
Moonkitti does a great job at explaining why Frecklewish could not help the kits nor would she even have been aware that they were in distress. But even if we were to assume she was consciously letting them die, it still is not worthy of the Dark Forest. The kits no longer belong to Thunderclan and so their deaths can be chalked up to the deaths of a rival clan.
Frecklewish is punished not by StarClan, but by the authors. Not only that but she is being punished for far less than Appledusk if she even willingly let the kits die at all.
All of this portrays a faith that not only punishes by petty reasons over actual deeds but punishes inconsistently at best. Blatant heretics and murderers get to stay in heaven, while those who threw their lot with the wrong person or were unpleasant get to rot in hell. See also, the cult video's great breakdown of Squirrelflight's and Leafpool's trial, where things the higher power ordered are in turn used to damn the very cats tasked by the higher power.
Warrior Cats' biggest theological issue is that it tried to have one in the first place. Before we knew about the Dark Forest, the only afterlife we knew was StarClan. It was a neutral place, rather than a heavenly reward. Once the Dark Forest was introduced, however, Warrior Cats' once animistic afterlife instead became nothing more than a poorly executed version of the Christian hell and heaven. This is why most fan rewrites often omit the Dark Forest and instead use the cessation of the soul as a punishment.
In short; the very faith of the Clan Cats is inconsistent and the judgement of the dead is more based on Doylist reasoning than Watsonian ones. This makes for an extremely disturbing faith.

Note
i was goin through your blog the other day, and you brought up cross-clan donors (for trans cats n the like) and i was wondering how you think that'd go about happening? :o im making some fan clans and i wanna introduce that into the setting, if its alright with you ofc
I put it under a cut bc it got long. I tend to overexplain things, so hopefully this makes sense! and of course feel free to adjust it however you like. And you (and anyone else who wants to for that matter) absolutely can use this idea for your fancharacters/ocs/fanworlds!! Thank you for asking! feel free to send another ask if you need clarification. and if you do make anything regarding to your world I’d love to see it, feel free to link or submit it to me!
I’d imagine that the cat/pair of cats looking for kits and needing a donor would approach their leader, who would call in the medicine cat (and sometimes the deputy) in to a meeting to discuss it. Then the group would set out to visit the clan of the cat/pair of cats choice, tho most of the time it’d be the clan or clans that they were allies with at the time.
The group would then go and meet with the leader of the other clan and their medicine cat, to discuss possible donors and the medicine cats could discuss their family histories and health and such. If the cat/cats looking for a donor had a friend from that clan, they could call them in to the meeting to discuss it.
If they didn’t know anyone from that clan, then the leader would have to go and talk with their warriors to see who would be willing and able. I think there’d be a sort of system where, when a cat becomes a warrior, they speak with the leader and medicine cat about if they’re willing to be a donor and any limitations they have.
Then the cat/pair of cats looking for a donor would obv speak with the cat willing to donate, get to know each other, discuss everything (usually with at least the medicine cats present, perhaps the leaders as well). Maybe they’d all take a few moons to get to know each other better, with scheduled meeting times at neutral territory (maybe said neutral territory could also be used for differing clan cats who met one way or another and became close friends or fell in love?).
If everything goes well and everyone consents, then the donation will proceed as planned. The kits will be raised without the donor being considered a parent, though however close the family is to the donor would vary case by case.  it could be opted for donors to be kept secret, but the leaders and med cats and ofc the cats involved would all know), some kept the donor close in their life, some merely spoke highly of them and met with them at gatherings, some kept mostly quiet about it, and some were complete secrets.
I’m sure this could all happen in a more secretive/less formal way, but that wouldn’t exactly be approved of.
Ultimately I think it’d be a common thing and be considered honorable to be a donor, to pass on your legacy and the strengths of your clan and to contribute life to the forest and to keep the clans as a whole strong and healthy.
I think donors would usually be used for mated pairs who couldn’t have kits of their own for whatever reason (trans or otherwise) or even for single parents (trans or otherwise) who wanted to raise kits.
Outsiders/rogues could be used as donors too, if they were friends with the cat/cats involved, or even if they were friends with the leader/medicine cat and were willing to donate (ex someone like Barley, or heck even cats like the mountain tribes)
It would probably work best in a world where clan relations are a bit closer, perhaps where they were at least a little aware of what a restricted breeding pool could do and the damage it would cause, and to keep the clans going without inbreeding becoming necessary. So a world where friends between clans were allowed, even relationships between clans.  But those relationships would probably be a little restricted (arranged meeting times, privileges, etc) to avoid blatant trespassing on other clans’ territory, and to avoid dishonest cats using it as an excuse to roam/hunt outside of their territory. I also would imagine a world like that would be more willing to take in and perhaps even occasionally seek out outsiders/rogues/kittypets–maybe like what firestar and sandstorm did in firestar’s quest for skyclan?–to keep the gene pool fresh and add new skills and genes to the clan.
