i just went to buy some things before shabbat and by chance came across this old secondhand bookshop that had (among other things) tons of german-language books so I stopped to browse and the Very Old owner came out to talk to me and at first we spoke in hebrew, but when he noticed the book i had in my hand (and probably my accent) he switched to an obviously-native-yet-slightly-disused German and i know this is half the fact that i literally currently spend 8 hours every weekday on holocaust related things and at least a little bit also the heat, but sometimes there are small facets of Israel that make me want to cry from emotions that i don't even have a name for.
