Casting Oni - (My Black Panther Original Character)

So, a dear reader asked me to cast a face to help them imagine Oni while reading. I never really thought about who I would cast to play her, so I literally spent forever trying to pick someone out. The only person I could find that made a lightbulb go off in my head was KiKi Layne. And ironically, KiKi was in Coming to America 2 as Princess Meeka, so I've got gifs that vibe with the Black Panther vibe. Although, Oni wears purple and has yet to actually show her face... because she's always wearing a veil these days.

I think her portrayal of Princess Meeka has a few speckles of Oni. (But just know that Oni was not built around Princess Meeka.)

What do you guys think? Do you think someone else could be casted? What do you think Oni looks like?

Last Song Listened To: So Much (for) Stardust by Fall Out Boy. Whoever put that post about Fall Out Boy's new album on my dash, thank you. I've listened to the entire album, it has gotten so stuck in my head I added several songs from it to my shuffle, and it's somehow now spawned a fic playlist.

Last Movie: ...oh god, I think it may have actually been Cocaine Bear?

Craving: Sleeps does sound pretty good, ngl. So Imma steal Deryn's answer.

What are you wearing rn? Super comfy lounge/yoga pants, a tanktop, and a hoodie because I like to keep the house cold, but then bundle up.

How tall are you? 5'4

Piercings: I used to have pierced ears and a navel piercing, but at some point didn't feel like having to deal with it so they've more or less all closed up at this point

Tattoos: Alas, none. Sometimes I want one, but I can never decide what I want to etch on my skin for eternity.

Glasses/contacts: Neither

Last Drink: Coffee. I was going to make a cup of tea, but got distracted with a different brewing method for my new AeroPress (which I had been struggling with getting a good cup out of).

Last Show: Um... let's see, what was the last non-YouTube thing I watched? I think it may have been the Book of Boba Fett finale, so I could finally start watching the new season of Mandalorian

Last thing you ate: A slice of toast from a dill red onion bread I picked up at a festival @kitsonpaws and I went to. It was delightful. As an aside, I have so much bread in my freezer rn

Favorite Color: My color du jour is like this deep, darkish teal. It's so pretty.

Current Obsession: I think it's probably this stupid AU that's decided to take up residence in my brain.

Unrelated Obsession: Honestly that Fall Out Boy album. So many lyrics and melodies keep getting stuck in my head.

Any Pets: A little old lady Alaskan Klee Kai (Meeka), and the one, the only, the man the myth the legend, the Griffin

Do you have a crush on anyone? I don't think I have one at the moment

Favorite Fictional Character: To the surprise of no one, right now it's one disaster spy princess, who stole my heart and my brain several years ago and really hasn't let go yet

Last Place Traveled: Oh goodness, let's not count things around town, I guess that would be up to Dallas last Christmas to see my family

Raise your hand if you were low-key shipping Princess Meeka and Lavelle throughout Coming 2 America?

I kept hoping/expecting that there’d be some DNA test to reveal that he was really Semmi’s kid after all. Don’t get me wrong I thought Mirembe was cute and I liked her Little Barber Girl That Could arc, but Princess Meeka bonding with Lavelle with the Lion arc was adorbs.

Ah well, if they can’t be Queen and King Consort together they can be Queen and loyal brother Prince together.

Also I don’t care what the haters said, but I loved that movie from start to finish. It wasn’t a bland rip-off of the original, repeating the same gags, etc. They gave it an original and interesting story/premise.

I just wish they had given a shout out to Wakanda in some way. But I’m guessing we have Disney’s suits to thank for that.

Kiandra "Kiki" Layne is a SUPER star. She played the romantic lead Clementine in the film "If Beale Street Could Talk", she has begging Gina Prince-Bythewood for a sequel the action packed Sci-Fi "The Old Gaurd" in which she was incredible as "Nile Freeman" and I thought she was the best Actor in Coming 2 America as the 👑 princess Meeka Joofa. She was a Bad ass, smart, and LAWD WAS SHE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

When is she going to get her chance to lead a studio film? I think she would be amazing as a Marvel/DC hero. Misty Knight, Storm, Hippolyta!! All I know is I am a fan and can wait to see more.
