Whoops I turned a corner.
I am a 'benefit of the doubt' kind of person. I try to reserve judgement before seeing for myself.
But. Even my mom, a non Elvis fan noticed that the Pricilla trailer was screaming that this movie was iffy.
So I'm just gonna say it now.
Sofia REALLY wanted to make a movie about grooming and is using Elvis Presley as an aesthetic to do it.
Like. That's all he is to her: a metaphor. She does not give two shits about Elvis. Like, negative shits, none to be found.
She casted a GIANT of a man vs a tiny lil woman for the two of them, hey forced visual story telling only there to make your own point ^_^
And ugh... idk, the movie on second look SCREAMS exploitation.
I listened to the book on tape of Elvis and Me. Pricilla giggles and has a smile in her voice when talking about her late husband. That is NOT the vibe I get from this movie at all.
(I don't know enough about Pricilla to weigh in on her part in this movie. I'm going to reserve judgment on her until I see the flick)
In any case, from Sophia and her movie, I don't see sincerity. I don't see honesty. I don't see a film maker wanting to bring a real life relationship to the screen.
Elvis is her strawman for a deeper point, I see zero love for the Presley's in this trailer.
