Very random but do you have any headcanons about Itachi and by extension Shisui's lifestyle in the modern era? For example, would they use Android or Iphone, or what sort of food preferences they would have like gluten free or vegan? Or what about their workout regimen? Not to mention, the kind of shampoo they would use (sorry if that's too specific)

I personally see Itachi as a very reticent person who would thrive in marathon training outside of any combat training. Do you have any opinions about that or anything related to Itachi headcanons in general?

In the modern AU, I see Itachi going through the same kind of things he does in canon, but on a lesser scale. His dynamic with his family and Shisui would be more or less the same.

Itachi is the Android person. He doesn't like showing off and is content with the simpler things in life. He is vegetarian. Shisui doesn't mind eggs and some seafood.

His favourite person is Sasuke. Obviously. But Shisui is up close as well. There were times in Itachi's life when he had no idea what was going on and Shisui stood beside him. Itachi is always thankful for that.

The only thing Itachi doesn't compromise with is his hair. So, he regularly does shampoo and uses conditioner on his hair. Shisui doesn't really care about his own and if he's running out of time, he doesn't mind using washing powder on his hair either.

Itachi is definitely introverted. Though since in the modern world he might not be training rigorously because he's not a ninja, he'll spend a lot of time studying.

He reads Kafka, Murakami, Plath, Dazai, Dostoevsky, Nabokov, and Camus a lot. Shisui tries to get him to read something else as well but Itachi gets bored of his recs real soon. Shisui and he argue a lot on the kind of books they like. Sasuke just stays out of their arguments because he's more of a comic book person. His arguments tend to be with Naruto the most. And they're never on the same page.

Itachi has a strained relationship with his parents. It's not too bad, but he feels uncomfortable whenever he's home. He knows he's loved, but he can't bring himself to be comfortable with his parents around. His strict father and his mom being an ideal wife have contributed a lot to him being inexpressive. Being a genius, a prodigy, best at everything is tiring. Everyone thinks he's having the best of all worlds, but in fact, he sometimes breaks down because he can't handle it. As if he's not allowed to fail. He wants his parents to be proud of him.

He knows he's the best at what he does. It's not outright arrogance but confidence that shows in his persona. He always ends up stealing the limelight, no matter who the object of centre is meant to be. It occasionally causes a rift between him and Sasuke. No, Sasuke doesn't say it out loud, but Itachi understands that Itachi stealing the attention that Sasuke deserved hurt his little brother. He hates seeing Sasuke sad because of him. Once he understands what is wrong, Itachi always removes himself from the picture, making last minute excuses why he can't make it. It happens with him and Shisui too. But Shisui tries to make him understand that he doesn't mind it and it isn't his fault. Though Itachi won't listen. He doesn't like being inconvenience to the people he loves.

Itachi is Sasuke's rock. Every time Sasuke needs something or wants someone to root for him, he always has Itachi's support. What he doesn't realize is that Itachi needs his support just as much. Itachi finds dinners with his parents comfortable only when Sasuke is around. Sasuke talks a lot, and that's therapeutic for Itachi. Sasuke's presence makes his life so much easier.

Both the brothers sometimes have heart-to-heart with each other. Sasuke mostly rants about his life and Itachi offers his opinions and suggestions, most of them work out for Sasuke. Sasuke wants to know about Itachi too and Itachi has no idea what to say about himself and his life. He doesn't want to burden Sasuke with all that he feels. Not that Sasuke doesn't manage to get some answers out of Itachi. He's understood that asking his older brother questions directly won't help. So he beats around the bush a lot until Itachi begins to speak.

One day when their parents were out of town, Sasuke managed to pry some answers out of his brother, and was horrified to know that the Itachi Uchiha had struggles too.

Ever since they were kids, Shisui would come over to the Uchiha household for sleepovers. And when Mikoto and Fugaku fell asleep, all three kids would indulge in pillow fights. Sasuke and Shisui would gang up on Itachi because that's one of those things that draw some reaction out of Itachi.

Love it. Have written tens of thousands of words about it. It's sort of a frustrating ship to write because they're both assholes about their own feelings (and I don't think Itachi in canon... has a lot of thoughts on Deidara), but Deidara has an extremely canonical gay melt down over Itachi, so I feel like there's a lot of ridiculousness to explore. The fact that they're both criminal villain ninja means there's a lot of room for understanding that other ships might not have. Yes, Deidara blows buildings up with people inside, what of it? He's not like "ooh aah you monster!!" over the Uchiha Massacre. And I like that they both have wildly different, but demonstrably lethal/successful, attitudes towards problem solving. Like I think they cover a lot of each other's flaws while also making each other worse, you know?

Since it's "brutally honest" opinion time, I will add a complaint I haven't made in a while. I hate the way a good chunk of fandom writes Deidara in mlm ships. For some reason, people like to make him a naive uwu bean to play the "feminine" role. Stop that, it's boring and OOC.

This is a ship I don't really mind but also don't find super compelling. I'm not a big Kisame fan-- like he's fine, I like writing and reading about him fine-- but he's not one of my favorite Akatsuki members. I don't filter on ItaKisa but the tag won't make me NOT click a fic. I could be compelled to write it if I had an idea for it. I do prefer exploring their relationship from a more platonic angle. Kisame is most interesting to me when he's the guy dealing with Itachi's bullshit 24/7 and somehow still thriving.

My original OTP!!!!!! Okay so I think they're super compatible and HERE'S WHY--

Basically I think Itachi is someone who has idealized romance in a way where he has an extensive very bland fantasy about nice Konoha girls who let him have the most bland vanilla hetersosexual marriage of all time. He wants the culturally appropriate equivalent of a white picket fence. Would he actually be happy with this? No, obviously not, but Itachi also thinks he's a pacifist.

Meanwhile Sakura is a violent maniac who is trying her hardest to BE that nice Konoha girl. They indulge each other's insane fantasies about it. Itachi looks at Sakura and is like: "oh yes, the perfect Konoha kunoichi, the student of the Hokage and Hatake Kakashi, a healer with the face of an angel--" But if his ability for self-analysis were 2% better he would realize his favorite Sakura moments are all like "ripped a man in half" and "brought that same man back from the brink of death to interrogate him." He is ready to lay back and let Sakura live out her own fantasy of Fixing the tragic S-ranked missing-nin WITH HER LOVE because that is also what Itachi wants. Ignore that the village is on fire, please

Other Itachi Ships

Let's see.... every once in a while I get intrigued by the idea of Kakashi/Itachi, but I have never hit on anything there that I really like. I'm fine with Shisui/Itachi, but I don't think Shisui has enough of a canon presence for me to go really feral over it like I would ItaSaku or ItaDei. I'm intrigued by some other Itachi/Akatsuki ships although I don't think any of them are popular. For example, I think Itachi and Sasori would clash horribly in that they're both assholes in similar directions, and this would make SasoItaDei a beautiful trashfire for Deidara specifically.

I've written some Itachi-Karin interactions that I thought were fun so I think ItaKarin could be interesting. Ummm..... OH! I regularly forget Izumi even exists. Sorry, Izumi.

Like- normal normal

No politics, no plans, just some pretty eyes and happy people

It would've been so happy right ?

And it's kinda obvious that they feel emotions more than a normal person okay? Their element is fire, fire is intense and so are their emotions. So if they're sad, they're very bawling their eyes out and if they're happy, then it's a celebration y'all (no hide your emotions bs)

if the clan was normal, they would be so culturally rich. Like i always imagined uchiha having their own folk songs, stories about past lovers, lullabies, dances, religious practices, ceremonies, festivals and what not?!

The one with baby sasuke, Itachi and shisui together where it looks like they're having some celebration together, yk lights and all

So yes

If there is a marriage around, the bride and the groom would be dressed so lavishly and royally, having the most beautiful and intricate jewelry and dresses, pretty make up and the best party in konoha around. Everyone would gift them gold and precious stuff just in the names of blessings.

And everyone would be there, the people of other clans as well, can't forget your other friends can you??

Just imagine the clan members coming together at night of some celebration around a cozy bonfire, the old people telling the stories of their youth to some children, young couples just spending time together, males just talking and laughing at each other, kids running and playing around and the ladies and some men just sitting around the bonfire singing their folksongs and orchestrating with various instruments- the flute, guitar, mouth organ etc (all the gentle stuff)

And having this stuff weakly

Imagine, the kids playing volleyball or something and some adult joins them to supposedly "teach them the real way" and just like that, it began a friendly battle between all the guys and gals interested.

All go back to their homes with a big smile on their faces

And Mikoto- the ever loving mother- would be such a good singer cuz her face just gives the vibe that she'll be good at singing.

Fuguku, no matter how rough he looks, will be the most gentle guy around the people he loves.

Thinking of him being good at playing flute and accompanying his wife while she's singing with the other ladies is just so romantic (imagine the young couples and their friends hooting when they start acting like the best power couple they are and their kids just loving this)

Sasuke inherited his mother's ability to sing and learned flute from his father

Itachi learned flute and many other instruments from his clan folk. He is not half bad at singing, he just prefers instruments.

I also see them being good at theatre. So listen, the clan kids, like 6-11 coming together to perform the story of some god or again- folk stories in their local theatre (ofc they have their own theatre, they're rich my lord) and all the adult members supporting their kids

It would've been so soothing for the adults you see, after a hard day at work, you come home and get to see all the happy faces of your friends, relatives, family members and all the members you saw growing up and who saw you grow up. And the families bring food as well. So free food. No one goes to sleep hungry.

Another idea, the clan comes together, once a month and holds a cooking competition. It's like a fair where the members of the other clans act like the judges and vote. The families (non uchihas can participate as well lol) open their stalls to show off their best recipes and the winner is decided through who gets the best votes

I would love to see a fanfiction like that.

I want to ask for some headcanons of Itachi, Shisui and Sasuke about how they sleep, like who hugs their partner more, who likes to sleep on their partner's chest or who likes their beloved partner to sleep on their chest, who snores louder ? things like that, I hope it's not so confusing!

-itachi is a light sleeper, and he doesn't sleep as much as he would like too

-since he was a little tiny boy, he was sent to missions already so his sleeping schedule has been shitty since then:(((

-ok but my baby boy actually found comfort in your arms so when he sleeps with you he feels a lot better

-itachi now rests more peacefully and he doesn't have to worry about enemies storming in the room or staying in alert

-but he still maintains that lightness while he sleeps, so he can't help it when he suddenly wakes up if you move or stir for a while

-if you tend to go to the restroom too much during the middle of the night, then poor itachi !! itachi won't actually sleep from all the times you have waken him up

-he doesn't admit it to you though, he pretends he's asleep so you don't feel bad <33 if you ask him if you disturbed him, he'll lie to you aww

-itachi usually sleeps on his back, his whole body stretched out, and he normally has an arm around you, either tucked in your waist or your shoulders

-you guys usually start your night cuddled up, he's spooning you or he is hugging you tightly, but as you doze off, your positions change as I said before

-however when you guys are just napping, itachi is a bit more clingy; he has his whole body clung to yours, his head usually on your chest, his nose between your titties because he loves them !!! and your hand on his soft hair, caressing his scalp

-itachi falls sleep rather quickly and easier with you, so you notice immediately when he is already on heavens lol

-shisui oh my god !! the neediest out there <333

-the first time shsiui shared the same blanket with you, he found happiness and what real love means

-since then, he actually feels a bit empty whenever he sleeps on an empty bed, trying to imagine you are there with him

-he might have acquired–stolen–a piece of clothing that has your aroma impregnated on it, or he simply bought a smaller version of the perfume you usually use

-shisui is also a bit of a light sleeper, but his senses aren't as sensitive as itachi's so he won't wake up every time you move an inch

-he actually does wake up somedays a lot because he has to use the restroom lmao he sometimes forgets to drink a bit of less water during night so he doesn't have to disturb you aww

-he might restrain his bladder so you aren't bothered </3

-shisui is very very clingy so he must be holding you and touching all night while you are in bed

-the position isn't very important for him, as long as he has skin to skin contact with you, he is ok and that's enough for him

-shisui waits for you to snooze first, so you are a bit more easier to handled, ok listen,,, during those moments where he isn't spooning you, he will wait until you are asleep so he can hold you ok,,, he just wants to cuddle with you and share some of his warmth with you

-his hands are everywhere, you sometimes wonder if he is actually tired because his movements are so vivid and frequent he feels so energetic

-when you take a nap, shisui prefers to have you on top of him,,, of course he loves having his curls caressed while his head is on your chest, but he feels better when you are the one being held by his arms, he feels he can protect you in that position

-but the only reason behind that is that he simply loves you too much the only way he can show it to you is through physical affection

-sasuke might seem a bit weird during the day, but he loses himself in your arms when you go to sleep

-that's the only time sasuke is more open to physical contact with you; you are both alone in an easy position and it's the end of a tiring day

-sasuke is quite sentimental ok, tell me whatever you want, but this boy has a lot of emotions but he sometimes simply doesn't know how to deal with them

-he usually sleeps on either of his sides, facing you and with his arms or his legs touching you

-you both fall asleep cuddled with each other, but as the night goes by, sasuke separates himself a bit from you, but without ceasing contact

-nightmares are sometimes part of his nights though:( he doesn't wake up too easily but his nightmares are definitely a problem to him sometimes

-but if you console him and support him, sasuke loves you and appreciates you tenfold now okkk

-sasuke's body is quite docile when he sleeps, so he lets himself be touched a lot more by you during that state

-naps with him are so romantic and domestic because you get to see a very vulnerable part of him
